Stopped here for lunch with my wife and what a great lunch we had. Ordered a Sangria to start and out waitress gave us great food recommendations! The restaurant is small and cute. Wait staff are friendly, and their sangria is tasty. You can't taste very much alcohol in the sangria, but it's still good. I really don't like writing anything negative about a restaurant while they are struggling right now, but, I just can't give a false review. We ordered calamari (wasn't delivered--restaurant issue or GrubHub driver error? We don't know but we didn't get it). We also ordered the Ham Croquettes Hot Tapas (the only reason I can give 2 stars because my husband raved about them!, Cazuela de Mariscos and Paella Valenciana. The Cazuela de Mariscos also came with a choice of 2 sides so I chose mixed veggies and Spanish potatoes. I expected spice, flavor, salt & pepper at least. The stew was full of seafood but only 1 mussel out of 3 opened. (You aren't supposed to eat them if they don't open). And there was just no spice. Very dull. Even the Spanish potatoes had no salt or pepper or anything! Just mushy potatoes. And I'm sorry, but I think the veggies were from a bag of frozen vegetables that were popped in the microwave (and had ZERO seasoning on them). The Paella? Unfortunately, it was extremely overcooked. It was like it had been prepared early that morning and had sat all day waiting for someone to order then reheated. And again, ZERO spice or flavor. I've been eyeing this place off of John Young Pkwy for a while and finally went to go with a friend. Wow--if you ever want to see where the local Spanish community is, this is it. With Spain's large flag hanging in the background and the from Spain accents of the customers who usually greet the employees with hugs, this place screams authenticity. Although one may initially balk at the price of a paella for two (~$36), rest assured that the paella for two is more than enough, lasting me four days after with leftovers. We got the squid-ink paella, which comes on a huge plate that is scooped out to you by your server. The paella was absolutely delicious, with the squid-ink adding juice a subtle seafood flavor and thankfully does not blacken the teeth. The seafood was small but tender, while the dish itself is incredibly filling, making it good conversation food with a group. Overall, warm authentic atmosphere with grand delicious portions. I got the seafood paella in black ink. It was delicious. Reminded me of a dish I grew to love in Barcelona. The down side is that our tongues were black for the evening. LOL. The calamari was fresh. The chicken croquetas were ok. The chorizos came out in a spectacular presentation flaming from the brandy but I found the chorizos to be too dry. We picked this place per previous reviews and I assure you that it does not reflect my experience. We ordered pita cheese pizza and chicken nuggets for the kids. Chicken nuggets were reheated from McDonald's and pizza was not pita at all, also store bought and heated. Appetizers: fried cod, it was still frozen inside and straight from the store freezer. The potatoes, quiche like, it was bland. Bread: mini French bread that I buy at Publix and bake every morning (delicious) hence the 1 star Paella: rice hard (uncooked), chorizo hard (not cooked), seafood also uncooked. During the entire meal the server never asked if we liked the food or if we needed anything else. We asked for another apple juice and another straw and was treated as if we were asking too much. After I asked for the bill, I explicitly said that we did not like anything, 90% of the meal was on the table. The server turned her back on me, and didn't even try to apologize or understand what was wrong. Sadly, after paying over $90 here we are puking. read more

This place is small but great. I live very close. We had a coupon that was about to expire. Guest of all if you are in a hurry....call ahead! They will be happy to help and even recommended it for lunch hours. Each paella is made fresh! So it takes 20-30 minutes. The appetizers come out quickly. We ordered the mixed paella which came with lots of yummy seafood and chicken and pork and had to minus the chorizo due to allergies. They were nice about it. 6-8 ish 4 top tables is the size of restaurant. We still had half left over and I will be fighting my fiance for some of the left overs if he thinks he will sneak them all. You can add a lobster to paella dishes for less than 20 bucks. Now lunch menu they also have tapas style and burgers gyros and more. Literally something for everyone and sangria!!!!! The rolls were even great. Be warned they are closed on Tuesdays but open for lunch and dinner all other days. I was so full and had to force myself to stop because the seafood and meat was so tender and just yummy! Be warned it is hot as in warm cause of the cast iron pit it is served in. I had been looking forward to eating here my whole trip, and it did not let me down! I can't speak to the quality of the paella, but as far as the tapas go, this place is the real deal! I ordered the caldo gallego, chorizo al brandy, and pollo al ajillo, and they were all fantastic! The caldo was super hearty and packed with greens, beans, and chorizo - it definitely had the authentic flavor of the caldo I had in Galicia. The brandy didn't impact the flavor of the chorizo much, but it did make it a little crisp and the flaming presentation is undeniably cool. Plus, chorizo has plenty of flavor on its own. The pollo al ajillo was juicy and packed with garlicky flavor - a must when something has garlic in the name. Finally, the bread they served definitely tasted like the kind you find in Spain - crusty on the outside and incredibly soft within. Service was friendly, and when I told them how much I love Spanish ingredients, they even brought out an extra slice of jamón serrano after my meal - I was stuffed but couldn't turn that down! Came here to dinner with the family. Ordered the sampler with cured meets, cheese and olives. It was good and devoured by my couthless kids within seconds of the server placing it on the table. We also had an order of empanadas which I found to be tasty. The sangria we ordered was good, but not great. The paella was ok but I didn't feel like the seafood was of good quality. There was one waitress for 3 tables and the owner was busy speaking with another table. We had to request water 3 times before they brought it out. It's a small cozy restaurant giving you a homely and very casual feeling around Deerfield. As soon as I arrived, I was able to peek into the kitchen. Actually, it's the first thing you see because the kitchen is exposed. I thought I saw the previous owner of Costa del Sol preparing food, and I was thrilled. I will now be able to eat proper Spanish samplings again, I thought. BF and I ordered the vegetarian paella, which was good for not having any meat in it. When meat is not present, one has to make sure there is lots of flavor in the vegetables and grains. No worries here; in fact, it was seasoned very well. BF ordered an extra tapa called Callos a la Madrilena (beef), and it looked more like a meal. It was huge! It's like a beef stew with chick peas sitting on a considerable amount of broth. BF got into his little bubble and started devouring this beef, as if it was his job! We also got the Crema Catalana, and it was delicious and satisfied our sweet tooth. It resembles a creme brûlée, but more buttery. We asked for their wine and sangria list, and they informed us they still didn't have their license to sell these items. We were bummed, but they told us they would have it by next week. Therefore, they should have this license by now. What I thought to be the manager came to our table to ask us how everything was. We told him we were pleased with everything, and I asked him if the restaurant was from the previous owner of Costa del Sol because I thought I had seen her in the kitchen. He confirmed this and added she was his sister, and they both took on this foodie project together. So it's a nice family business, apparently. Great food, great staff, excellent service and Great value. I loveee cuisine from Spain, Tapas specially. With that said, I have been watching this place like a hawk ever since I saw the Spanish flag with the sign "coming soon" hanging abo I was very excited to see this new place since we have nothing like it around the area. I wanted to try various tapas so that i can evaluate and get an idea of the food quality and compare the same items to others I've had in some of the more upscale Spaniard restaurants, this is my way to come to quick conclusions on whether i want to be back or save my money. Everything I had was delicious including the sangria and desserts. IMO this place can actually go toe-to-toe with some of the more expensive restaurants offering the same type cuisine. Among other things that caught my eyes in the menu, there were anchovies fillets served with olive oil that i really wanted to try but unfortunately it was not available at the time. Hopefully I'll have better luck next time. The decor inside feels very inviting and casual with an open space and plenty of room and always enjoy the spanish tunes. All in all, I enjoyed everything about paella house, the food, the laid-back atmosphere and the people there. It's a great and unprecedented addition to the food scene in the area and I really hope there are here to stay, that way I don't have to drive to all the way to winter park when in the mood for tapas! I will be back and try their speciality. Paellas. I have my favorite and beloved place to go to for paella and nobody has remotely come close to comparing, let alone topping it, but I'm pulling for this place and hoping that it will be just as good. My husband and I ventured out of our comfort zone and drove a good distance to try this place (and also because I had a Groupon expiring). It's located in a shopping plaza with a good assortment of restaurants to choose from. We walked in and there was one table occupied but, otherwise, very slow for a Friday night. We were greeted very warmly and seated at a table that happened to be right by the television and the booth where they wrap silverware. Just a note, try not to be seated here . It's awkward eating your meal and facing servers wrapping silverware. On another note, the food was, overall, pretty good aside from a few snafus. I had a sangria and it didn't seem very strong and a bit flat. Not sure if it was just me but it was definitely different from others I have tried. We had the ham croquettes and calamari for our appetizers. My husband seemed to enjoy the croquettes. The calamari was decent but seemed a bit undercooked. The breading was falling off and barely had the golden color of being fried long enough. The sauce it came with made up for this though. For entrees, my husband ordered the chicken relleno which was a hearty piece of chicken breast that is breaded and stuffed with ham and mozzarella cheese covered in a mushroom cream sauce. It came with 2 sides of his choice(yellow rice and mixed vegetables) which were rather generous in portion. We also ordered the paella de marisco which is strictly filled with seafood and they were definitely not stingy. It was overflowing with shrimp, clams and mussels. For the paella, our server spooned out the paella onto my plate before I could take a photo of the pretty pan. But I appreciate the server and definitely going above what I would've expected. The restaurant was pretty slow the entire time we were there. A few people came in as we were dining but it was pretty dead for the most part. Loud, Spanish music was blaring from the speakers so at least it didn't feel slow. As for costs, this is probably not the most budget friendly place. The tapas and entrees do add up. I would suggest pacing yourself and splitting items. The entrees are huge so would be perfect for sharing! Great food and service but not the most accessible location. The place is small but cozy and clean. Our server ( male ) was well knowledge on the food and made great suggestions.
