The menu does vary a bit from Lincoln Heights, which caught me off guard since I was hoping to order the Sol, but it wasn't available at this location. I ended up going with the chicken parmigiana, and it did not disappoint. It was flavorful with a perfectly crispy coating, making it a solid choice. Last time I was here was maybe 15 years ago. It's just not a place I think about. It was super slow on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. We had a hearing challenged person with us and they happily moved us to a quiet corner in another room. We were worried they'd forget us, but they never did. Andrew was our waiter and he was on it the entire time. A couple of us loved our menu choice and one of us thought their's was bland and dry. They got the baked ziti. Mine was pretty good...Fettuccini Margaret with chicken, tomatoes, mushrooms in a tomato cream. I'm hesitant to get chicken, because it can be dry, but this was cooked great. The tomato cream was nice, too. They brought out bread, hummus and olive oil to start and it's complimentary. That was a nice touch, but the olive oil tasted a little old. And we didn't finish the bread or our appetizers, so that was my indicator that everyone felt the same. We were there to celebrate something, so we didn't talk much about the food. We started with calamari and shrimp paesano for the appetizers. We didn't really care for the calamari and the shrimp was good. The guest of honor ordered the kahlua chocolate tres leches, which was ok. That didn't get finished. They brought out a cotton candy bowl, which was a really cool touch! After coordinating Administrative Assistants Day lunch at Paesanos with the support of my CM - who truly exemplifies what it means to be a true leader - and Adrienne. It turned out to be an absolutely wonderful experience. When we walked into the Sun Room, we were greeted by an elegant setup featuring white florals, crystal accents, and warm wooden touches which created such a beautiful and welcoming atmosphere. Andrew was incredibly friendly and attentive, taking great care of our group and ensuring everything ran seamlessly. The entire lunch went off without a hitch, and every detail felt thoughtfully handled. Our team truly had a fantastic Administrative Assistants Day, and it meant so much to be able to celebrate together in such a lovely setting. Paesanos is such a core restaurant in San Antonio, they have been in business for a long time , they are an institution, and they keep their food and service quality high. They are famous for a dish: Shrimp Paesanos, it's a delicacy. A buttery pasta with a lemony hint and 5 lightly breaded shrimps, oh my! Absolutely delicious. Today I venture out and ordered Lamb, I love lamb and decided to try it, it didn't disappoint, but I will stick to Shrimp Paesanos next time. They welcome you with freshly made bread with olive oil and a very good type of tapenade. Main entrees include a salad and for a small charge you can upgrade your house salad to cesar salad, which I did and I loved it. We attended a holiday event in one of their private rooms and had a great experience. Room was large and cozy with a warm roaring fireplace. Open bar was located in the room directly across. Ordering of food, execution, and delivery all happened in a timely manner. I ordered the pan roasted salmon and it was fabulous! Flavorful, with a nice outer crust, and cooked perfectly flaky interior. It went well with the mashed potatoes, but the snap peas weren't cooked enough for my taste. I enjoyed the house salad, but the trio of mini desserts were underwhelming and nothing fancy. All in all a good experience. read more

A little underwhelming I had my first experience at Paesanos with a larger dinner party and only a couple of us were truly satisfied with our meal. The atmosphere of the restaurant itself was nice, service was decent, and the dishes I saw at other tables while we waited on our orders looked absolutely delicious, but it became quickly apparent that looks were the best thing about the food. I had the Lobster Ravioli, and the first thing I noticed about this dish was how fishy it smelled. I think it may have been the crab butter emitting this odious scent, but despite the smell I had a very hard time actually tasting the lobster itself as the rest of the ingredients completely overwhelmed it. There were far too many peppers topping the pasta, and if they weren't enough to take away from the lobster, the crispy prosciutto sealed the deal. Both another party member who'd also ordered this dish and I shoved the prosciutto aside in the hopes of better tasting the lobster, but we both ended up having to dig through peppers as well. To top it off, the pasta was just too thick for the minimal amount of filling. Overall, it was just an extremely disappointing dish. I'm not sure I'd return here as the majority of my party agreed that it was a disappointing meal despite the array of dishes ordered. For such an interesting menu, it was a let down that it was an average meal at best. I'll give Paesanos a 5 for venue and cleanliness and a 3 for the food for an overall 4 stars. read more

As you walk into Paesano's, you feel like you walked into a modern-day castle with extremely high ceilings and gigantic round chandeliers. The bar and reception area have counters covered by lights...a cool modern vibe. The restaurant features indoor and outdoor seating, providing a serene, inviting vibe. The restaurant is draped in a canopy of trees offering shade and an inviting environment. The interior is sleek and contemporary with clean architectural lines. I met my brother for lunch and we both ordered the same thing - Shrimp Paesano, one of their signature dishes. This pasta dish features jumbo shrimp, which was sautéed to perfection...crispy around the edges but so super moist inside. The shrimp floats in a rich, creamy butter sauce with garlic, lemon juice, and fresh herbs (parsley and chives.) It was served normally with spaghetti noodles...that's what my brother ordered. I modified my dish to include capellini (thin noodle). The dish came with a fresh house salad. Paesano's serves a lunch version of this dish with 3 shrimp (full dish features 5 shrimp.) Portion sizes are extremely large. I ate half of my food and took the remainder home. Conversely, my brother ate his entire plate of food. I suppose he has a healthier appetite. Bummed that my picture of our entrees was blurry. Parking is abundant around the restaurant. All parking is complementary. In addition, we had no reservations and were walk right in. Our server, Alberto, was very pleasant and knowledgeable about the restaurant. He shared that the 1604 location was intentionally different from the Quarry location. One example is the walnut cranberry bread served at the Quarry but not at1604. The 1604 location has only sourdough bread, but it is extremely tasty and different from the Quarry location. My fiance and I have been here several times and really seems to get better each time we are there. Our latest trip here was on a Saturday around 3. Their Happy Hour times are Tuesday through Saturday 11 to 6. It is also all day on Sunday and Monday. My fiance and I love going during Happy Hour for their Appetizet Specials. We usually get three different appetizers to share and a couple drinks. This time, we got their Calamari, Oysters and Mussels. The calamari here here is the biggest pieces that I have seen. The sauce that comes with it was very tasty and complimented the calamari. The mussels were delicious and served in an amazing broth. We joked that the broth is so good that you you can almost drink it like a soup. I suggest saving some of the complimentary bread that you get at the beginning so that you can soak up this amazing broth. The Oysters had the best presentation of the three appetizers. They are presented in a way that makes it seem like it's a one bite. Even with my big mouth, I felt more comfortable cutting the Oyster in half first. My fiance and I were discussing what to get for dessert. The server must have over heard because he let us know that he highly recommended Toffee Banana Bread Pudding. This is not something that I normally would have though of but we decided to give it a try. Now that I have had it, I recommend it to anyone that goes here. Paesanos 1604 has amazing food and a stunning tuscan style building, but many people may not know that they have separate rooms for parties. We chose to host our daughter's small scale wedding reception here after contacting their event coordinator. Adrienne was amazing with recommendations and accommodations allowing us to truly add a personal touch to the event. They facilitated everything from personalized table decor to facilitating a space and set up for our own wedding cake and of course allowing us to have mariachis. The food choices are extensive but the menu and options are so easy to navigate. We had a buffet style meal and a bar area complete with our our own server. The event coordinator, Adrienne, the manager and the entire staff was so professional and helpful in creating a flawless and well executed event. I've frequented this restaurant for years and I can honestly say all my favorite dishes just keep improving with time. This is also my favorite restaurant to celebrate personal milestones. They have great happy hour drink and food specials which we've enjoyed many times. Their giant calamari with the sweet and spicy dipping sauce is a stand out appetizer second only to their delicious mussels in a rich delicious tomato broth with toasted bread and fried oysters with remoulade sauce. We enjoyed several well-made cocktails today including a filthy vodka martini, lemon drop martini, midnight old fashioned, and ended our delicious meal with perfectly made carajillos. This is an Italian restaurant with many delicious dishes, I've never been disappointed with any dish I've had from here but their Baked Ziti and buttery shrimp Paesano are my favorites. The Cappuccino pie is my most favorite ice cream based dessert but they're all good and yes I think I've tried them all. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating with lovely warm lighting inside and a sweet coy fountain outside. This location is right off 1604 with plenty of parking, just look out for 1604 highway closures. If you want to enjoy the happy hour specials, keep in mind you can only enjoy them in the bar area. I attend weekly business gatherings at this restaurant, which is why this experience was not only disappointing--but ultimately humiliating. I hosted two events here within the same week. Before the first event, I met with the catering director alongside my event planner to clearly agree on menu, drink options, and pricing. We approved appetizers, beer, and house wine only. Despite that, the final bill included unauthorized charges--including 41 margaritas and higher-priced wines--resulting in over $800 in discrepancies. I provided a detailed spreadsheet outlining these differences. Five days later, at my second event, I handed that spreadsheet to the event manager during setup. She said she would review it but never followed up. After the event, I was then told I had not met a $1,700 minimum spend--something that was never disclosed during planning and was not applied to my first (larger) event. I was told I would need to pay the minimum, with the difference given back to me in the form of a gift card, which made no sense given the unresolved overcharges. When I asked to resolve everything professionally, the general manager refused a meeting and instead proposed to "zero out" the second event rather than address the first event's discrepancies. I agreed in good faith, and believed the matter resolved. It did not. Two weeks later, while attending one of my regular weekly business meetings, the manager asked to speak to me, asked to leave and told I was no longer welcome-- the manager waited for me to collect my things and walked me out. After years of being a consistent customer, this was not just unprofessional--it was humiliating. I am a guest at these meetings not the host. I was also told they were extending me "grace" by not requiring a contract because of my regular business. Let me be clear: Grace is not overcharging a customer, ignoring documented discrepancies, introducing terms after the fact, and then publicly removing them from your establishment. That is not hospitality--that is poor business practice. Adding to the concern, the catering manager is married to the general manager, which made it feel nearly impossible to get an objective or fair resolution once issues arose. Summary: Agreed pricing was not honored Unauthorized charges were added A minimum spend was introduced after the fact Documented discrepancies were ignored Resolution was not upheld I was publicly removed and embarrassed I host events regularly and understand how these should be handled. This was not a misunderstanding--this was a failure in professionalism, accountability, and basic business integrity. read more

I made a "call ahead" reservation for 10 people at 7:00. We arrived on time and our table was ready. Our server greeted us promptly and took our drink orders. I mentioned that we wanted 10 seperate checks (guys golf trip) and he said that would not be a problem. I purchased the wine for the table and asked that it be put on my bill. It was. The ambiance was warm and inviting. I asked our server his thoughts on a particular menu item and he gave me an honest answer. It was not his favorite and he explained why. I ordered the Chicken Parmagiana instead and it was fantastic. Everyone said that Paesano's 1604 was the best meal we had on our trip. We will be back for sure. read more

Food: We had the bruschetta which was simple but delicious. The mussels I was excited to try but I don't know if I would recommend them. The broth and bread were amazing but the muscles still had a seafood taste but not in the nice way. The was bread offered for the table with hummus on one side and olive oil on the other. For the entree the salmon was okay. The cherry glaze made for a sweet crust which wasn't the favorite for the night. The pasta was delicious and the chicken Peccadillo was also really good. The chicken dish wasn't what I originally expected I thought it would be chicken on side and the veggies separate then the potatoes on the other but it was chopped up and all together with a really good sauce. The drinks were also really good the favorite of the night was the lemon lavender definitely recommend! Service: They were kind of busy but the waitress was attentive. Paesanos is one of my favorite places to eat at in SA. This location offers lots of seating. With a n option to be seated indoors, outdoors or in between in what I like to call the sun room. The sourdough bread and hummus are one of my many things which Jew me coming back. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu but my Persia l favorites are the chicken Parmesan and shrimp paesano. The servers are super helpful when it comes to ordering and also come by frequently for refills. I always leave here satisfied. read more

I joined the Braun Station retirees for their Christmas luncheon today. It was my first time to ever dine at a Paesano's, although I always wanted to go after hearing rave reviews from others. Let me tell you... It is a popular place for holiday lunches. The place was absolutely packed when I arrived shortly after eleven. As usual, we were seated at a large table. I had a comfortable spot close to the people I know best from the group. Our server, Alberto, had already brought plates of bread. There was one sitting right in front of me, which I passed down to the end of the table. It looked very good. The ladies all said it was very good. However, my brain was in one of its moods and interpreted the smell of it badly. Trust me- it was just me and not the bread. I ordered Jalapeno Pesto Fazzaletti. I had studied the menu the night before and made my choice after using Google to look up all the words I didn't know. This is what it was: fazzaletti (long sheets of pasta), Peroni pot roast (a HUGE hunk of delicious pot roast cooked in a delicious sauce with a touch of Peroni beer), and cipollini (small flat onions that were delicately pickled). All of this was smothered in a wonderful jalapeno pesto sauce that was thick, rich, and tasty as HELL! I think it was the best Italian food I have ever eaten. Take in mind that I am saying that based on the taste sensations alone. I had never heard of this dish. It was just all the textures and flavors together that sent me off on an explosive taste bud journey. Did I mention that it had goat cheese sprinkled on top? All of the other dishes that the ladies ordered looked equally delicious. Nobody seemed to have any complaints. If I had been with my family, I would have begged for tastes of some of them. I want to talk some more about our server, Alberto. Y'all know how much I like a good server. Alberto was fantastic. His style (and maybe the entire service staff of this venue) was very formal. He served me iced tea while I was in the middle of a conversation without my even noticing. He did some extra things I usually don't see often except in really expensive fine dining establishments. For example, he went around the table shifting everyone's bread plates to make room for the salads. After removing the salad plates, he went around again and took everyone's salad fork and gave the ones eating pasta a large spoon. He also replaced any knives that had been used with clean ones. I thought it was kind of funny. When I was growing up, it was considered vulgar to use a spoon with pasta unless we were at home. On the other hand, Mama would never give us a clean knife or fork at home. You got one and used it the whole time. I give Alberto cudos for being super attentive to everyone's needs without making it obvious. I asked him for a box to go, and he took my plate away and packed my leftovers in a neat black box for me. At first I thought he heard me joking about stealing the pasta bowl (I really liked the shape!), but he packed everyone's leftovers. Well not everyone's. Most people ate all of theirs. Such a beautiful restaurant, with amazing ambiance. It definitely gives off higher end vibes, but also great for a casual-ish lunch. I took my little sister, who's probably the most pickiest eater on the planet. She asked for more pasta 3 times, which should tell you how legit Paesanos is. She absolutely loved it so much, and was even asking for it again the next day. I got the Cheese Ravioli with red sauce and it was amazing. The cheese was so flavorful and the sauce was the perfect compliment to the pasta. I hate when places don't give you enough sauce, but you definitely don't have to worry about that here. They give you so much sauce with your pasta, so make sure you ask for extra bread to dip in it. The service was quick, and our drinks were full the entire time. The pasta came out pretty fast too, which was nice. If you're looking for a nice Italian meal, you definitely need to pay a visit to Paesanos. read more

While the parking lot appeared to be very crowded when we arrived to Paesanos (1:00PM on Sunday), it wasn't as crowded inside. We were seated right away at a table inside. Both the inside dining area and the outdoor patio were very nice and had a good ambiance. We were brought bread which is served with hummus as well as olive oil w/ seasonings. Butter is available for the bread upon request. The bread was warm and soft (yum) and the hummus was good but did have an unusual flavor to it. I ordered the chicken parmigiana which came with a salad. The salad had cucumbers, croutons, tomatoes and a delicious dressing. The chicken parmigiana was about average with some bites being better than others. I also tried my friend's veal parmigiana which wasn't my favorite - the chicken was much better. The veal seemed to be a tad overcooked. The server did a good job at keeping our drinks full and checking on us. I would definitely go back and try a different dish next time. read more

I had a recent business lunch here and my organization reserved one of the private rooms on the upper level for several hours. I highly recommend if you need a private room with service for a few hours at a reasonable price (no rental fee just a food & bev minimum that was very reasonable). Throughout my organization's 4-hour meeting, the staff was perfectly timed with when they entered the room to refresh drinks, bread, begin food service, etc. and our wait staff super friendly and accommodating. I ordered the pork chop as my entree and really enjoyed the hearty portion size and super delicious marinade the pork was prepared in.
