Our pick-up pizza was dried out and seemed as if they'd cooked it earlier and reheated it for us. The crust had the tell-tale bumps from being refrigerated and it was incredibly tough. Palermo is such an amazing and cozy neighborhood restaurant! As much as we like their regular meals (hot wings = yum yum), we are even more impressed with their desserts - Coppa Pistachio and Tartufo Classico are to die for!! Rich, thick and tasty Italian family dining at its finest. They have an extensive menu - pizzas, pastas, antipastas and more. Everyone in the family loves to eat here - the flavors are a bold throwback to traditional Italian cuisine. Their pizza is one of the best I've had, a thin crust that isn't crunchy, a hint of oregano, garlic and possibly basil. It's fresh and well crafted, though generally better in the restaurant then when it's delivered (maybe location has something to do with it). Their decode is old-school, it probably hasn't changed since 1945 (or whenever they opened), but it works for them. It's cozy, clean and comfortable. It's good for families and groups, too. Love their spaghetti, and there fettuccine alfredo is delicious, their garlic bread fantastic. The wait staff have always been friendly and courteous, never overbearing or inattentive. It is not a good sign when the bread is by far the highlight of the meal. Palermo has the honor of serving easily the worst italian food I've ever had in a restaurant. The pasta was far from al dente...overcooked and near mush. Must have been cooked earlier this afternoon or perhaps yesterday?!?! I paid an extra $2.50 for my pasta to come with meatballs, which as it turned out were far from edible. Dry and...well.... basically gross. Finally the atmosphere was far from ideal, should I be listening to Pink in an italian restaurant? Overall nothing was good. We had an unfortunate first experience with these guys (ordered delivery on a busy Friday night) and Yelped about it. Not only did Palermo contact us to apologize, but they sent out an amazing amount of fabulous food to make up for the mistake a few days later. The quality of everything they sent was impressive and their customer service is exceptional. I'm happy to continue to support such a wonderful business and enjoy some yummy pasta in the process. This is a family business, with heart and soul and a true sense of community. Their sauces are rich but extremely tasty, and if you want something lighter, try the hummus, dolmades or salad. Authentic Italian with excellent pasta dishes. We usually get the penne a la vodka and chicken piccata which is served over pasta. The staff are very friendly and it has a very family-owner restaurant vibe (though I've never asked if it is family run). The atmosphere and service were great, but I was underwhelmed by the food. It's nice inside, warm atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and attentive. It feels warm and homey, which is a nice change from the trendy places on Ballard Ave. The portions were generous - each pasta dish comes with soup or salad as well as garlic bread. The salad was okay - the combination of olives and cheese was pleasant. I had fetticine alfredo with salmon. There was way too much sauce. It was more like alfredo soup with noodles in it. The sauce got everywhere when trying to eat it. I wanted to scrap it off the noodles. It could easily have done with half or 1/3rd of the sauce. Also, the sauce was bland. It was under-salted and tasted only of cream. I piled on pepper, chili flakes, and oregano at the table to try to get some flavor. Finally, I envisioned a piece of grilled salmon on top. It was actually small tiny bits of smoked salmon mixed in, which was odd, in my opinion, and they got totally lost in the sauce. It was just not good. I have to say, that when I find a place that has Horiatiki Salad on the menu, I have to order it. I'm Greek and it's my favorite light dish of all time. Except I have to order it without the raw onions... too many stomach problems with those. And so when I look at Palermo's menu and saw it (named Mediterranean Salad here), I had to order it. I was extra hungry so I ordered a side dish of Dolmades, which was a huge plate with at least 6-8 Dolmas and plenty of Tzatziki sauce and Pita Bread. It was almost a meal in itself. Both of my favorite dishes done perfectly. I had to come back and try their other food. Since then, I've had several different types of pizza, many kinds of pasta dishes and their fantastic Meatball Parmegiano Sandwich. All of them terrific. This place suffers from one problem: limp soggy pizza. Every pizza I've gotten from these guys is limp. I think the problem is the put the pizza in the box too soon for delivery...and the boxes have no ventilation to let the steam out. The result: limp soggy pizza. It was so bad the last time that when the delivery guy opened the pizza warmer bag to hand it too me the box was drooping...folded up nearly 90 degrees in the carrier. Complete crap. I ordered through seamless/grub hub, which I have been doing once a week or so since I've moved into my apartment. Today was completely awful, I found multiple hairs in my pasta. I honestly hate complaining and tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but every time I tried to get over it I found more. I called seamless and was told that the manager wanted to speak to me personally. Not sure why he wanted to since he basically called me a liar by asking me if I'm sure about what I found. Yes, I'm very sure mind you, I'm not blind. So when I stated that I was sure and asked if he wanted to see pictures he said "yes I do". Honestly? Why would I lie? I order here often enough but will never do so again now that this has hap. What type of customer service is this? I am extremely finicky with my marinara sauce. Outside of. Italy, Palermo has the absolute best marinara sauce I've ever had... Anywhere in the world. Our server was amazing, personable and made us feel at home. We had the Pasta Putanesca, and their signature meatball dish, plus coffee and tiramisu for dessert. The pasta was perfectly cooked, the meatballs impeccably seasoned, and the tiramisu was wonderful. If you ever get a craving for home-style Italian food... I LOVE this place. Fortunately for me it is within a quick walk; maybe unfortunate for my butt! I have ordered here a few times before, each time with friends who prefer meat on the pizza. It was really good, but I prefer veggie pizza. I finally ordered just for me today, a veggie pizza, and WOW. This is nothing unusual in regard to the ingredients, and the crust and sauce are just as wonderful as always. What really knocked it out of the park...ripe, delicious, flavorful tomatoes, That's right, just a tomato. Why you might ask, well, it is the beginning of February. The tomatoes everywhere I have been are under ripe and for good reason, we don't grow local tomatoes worth eating in the winter. I don't know if they grow them in a hydroponics set up in the back or get them over night from Italy, but YUM. On top of the super yummy and heartwarming veggie pizza and a delightful baklava, the service is wonderful. I always see the same faces and they always smile; the cooks and the wait staff. I don't know what delivery is like, but the dude with the bad attitude about being naked upon their arrival is obviously from some Podunk place with noting better to do than call before delivery! Although the second date went sour, I have taken many a friend on a cold wet day to partake in the baked spaghetti. I also got a scone to go that was very small and tasted just like a blueberry muffin which is not exactly a bad thing but for $2.95... My friend asked for gluten free pasta it was not. I had been craving beer and pizza for a long time so I asked my friend from work if he had any recommendations. He suggested Palermo, reassuring me that they definitely serve beer. Score! My friend and I shared a large pizza, half bbq chicken and the other half, parasido. We also ordered the house salad and how could we forget the two glasses of ice cold Stella. The salad came out with a side of bread which apparently is freshly baked. It was delish. The salad was savory and just the right amount for the both of us. The pizza was huge - was not expecting it to be that big. I could only eat a slice and my friend ate two slices. I only ate the bbq chicken so I can't really comment on the other half, but my friend said it was good. The crust wasn't as crispy as I thought it would be so that was a bit of a let down. However, they definitely did not scrimp on the toppings so that made up for it. It is a cute little joint, very low key. I don't know if I'd be back anytime soon given the amount of pizza places in Seattle and I'm usually not around Ballard. However, I had an a-okay time. I have eaten at Palermo a couple of times and today we had a group of six to celebrate The Wife's birthday for lunch. We had a wonderful experience, as I have always had, so it is time to share all this with my fellow Yelpers. We started with a couple of starters. The cheesy breadsticks with marinara dipping sauce are just as it sounds but the real winner is the baked cauliflower. It was a lovely combination of cheese, olive oil, lemon and cauliflower. It is service with pita pieces so the best way to eat this is to mash it all up together and spread it on. Excellent! I had the Fettuccine con Fruiti di Mare which was perfectly done. The pasta was just right with mushrooms, onions and prawns in a light, lemon cream sauce and two huge hunks of garlic bread. I also had a taste of the pizza which I thought was very good. The crust was not too thin and not to thick with a rich red sauce. I really like the prices at Palermo. My pasta was on the high end at only $13.50 and the portions are enough for two meals. We fed six people with two starters, entrees, 2 pitchers of Moretti and a glass of wine for $105. This reflected a 20% coupon from their website so print off your own copy of the coupon and take yourself down for a good, solid Italian meal. read more

This place is amazing with an incredibly kind and attentive staff! I came last night with 5 friends and even though they were 20 minutes til close, the waitress kindly sat us and welcomed us in. She gave us time to look at the menu and didn't make us feel rushed at all even though we were the only table in there. The pizza was outstanding!
