This is for the Monthly Signature Sunday Brunch Easter Edition held in the Isabella Ballroom, not the regular palm court menu. First off the setting was absolutely gorgeous. Giant chandeliers, subtle purple lighting in the corners, and elegant white tablecloths with gold chairs gave it a really classy vibe. All it needed was some 1920s music :D We had a reserved table but were kindly allowed to move to a quieter corner spot with less foot traffic, which we appreciated. Most of the food was arranged in the center of the ballroom, so it was easy to access and there was a lot to choose from. I'd have given it more stars, but I do wish there had been more vegan options. There was just one dessert, two entrees, and salad, though to be fair, the salad bar had a ton of topping choices and I ended up going back for two plates. Everything I had was really tasty! My family tried the meat options and felt some were a bit dry or lacking in flavor, but the eggs benedict got a big thumbs up from everyone. Service wise, our server seemed a bit overwhelmed we had to pour our own coffee from the cart and a few plates piled up, but it was a packed event, so it's understandable. Went here tonight for a family members birthday. I ordered the New York Strip steak with cheesy mashed potatoes, asparagus, and eveything was topped with a demi glaze and sweet valdalia onions for $60.00 The steak was perfectly medium but a thin slice for the price, and the mashed potatoes were cool to the touch but I appreciated the bread served to the table. I made a reservation for my sister, mom and I for their Afternoon High Tea using Resy a week ahead. My mom unfortunately came down with COVID so I cancelled the reservation, before the cancellation deadline per their policy. I have a confirmation email stating this with a time stamp which shows the cancellation was clearly done before their deadline- see photo. The day of, I received an incredible nasty phone call from the manager Arthur asking if I would be showing up for my reservation. I said no and explained I cancelled and I have confirmation. He then went an aggravated rant to proclaim that the front of house manager called and spoke to me yesterday and I confirmed, so I will be charged. I received no such call, spoke to no one, have no missed calls, nor voicemails from the day before. Arthur continued to berate me and to get a word in before he tried to hang up I had to raise my voice and say "let me speak". He continued to proclaim me as a liar that will be charged. I will be reporting the charge as fraudulent and reaching out to Resy. As for Arthur the manager, I can't imagine working in the service industry and calling a person on a Sunday afternoon to speak to them so poorly. read more

After several people tried to book afternoon tea online I decided to go to the hotel to book. I asked the front desk who directed me to the palm. I asked at the palm and they said I could only book online. I looked online and found that there was a phone number I could call the phone number was a phone tree. I think you get the point. I have eaten at the Palm many times. It has a solid wine list and the food is usually good excellent. I would go for a meal, but advise against any specialty events, which is disappointing to see in a Marriott Bon Voy property. read more

We were back at the Palm Court Grill after a concert at Fox Theater. The Grill is a great spot for some old fashioned "fine dining." We were seated by the big fireplace, a perfect spot for a chilly evening. The Grill may be one of the only places left that serves a "green goddess" salad, and it was delicious. Our last visit found the Grill in transition between owners. The new menu and wine list was a welcome sight. We had a bottle of Moet Brut Imperial tableside to accompany our salads and French Onion Soup. Dinner was the ribeye steak, and it was perfectly prepared. The service was pleasant and attentive at every stage of the meal. We enjoyed our visit to the Palm Court Grill and look forward to visiting again. read more

I came here on Saturday afternoon around 2. My mom and sister and I had come in to get lunch to celebrate us all being together and the overall experience was just disappointing. When we got there we weee out on a wait list and told it was about an hour. Not a problem at all, they took my name and phone number to let us know when a table was available. Since the tree experience was still going on there was a lot to look at while we waited. After an hour I went back just to check. The lady who was at the host stand had trouble finding my name on the list. Then she had told me that she had texted me earlier that there was a table ready. I showed her my texts messages and nothing was from the restaurant at all. She seemed a bit flustered and realized that there might have been a problem on their end with the notification. Not a problem she was able to seat us and it all should have been good. Our waitress was really sweet but definitely busy so after taking our orders we barely saw her. The food came out after a little bit and we were excited. I had ordered the duck, my mom got the fish and chips and my sister got the gnocchi. The first bite of duck was so chewy because the fat hadn't been rendered down that it was hard to eat. So, I figured I would simply cut the fat off and it would solve the problem. But the duck was very dry and not very tasty. The risotto that came with it was still al dente and the veggie hash was almost raw. I only had a few bites of food before I was done with trying to eat it. My mom and sister didn't have any better luck. The fish for the fish and chips my mom said tasted super fishy. Which is off for the type of fish that it is. And the gnocchi was dry and super crumbly not like soft and pillowy as it should have been. We saw our server very quickly when she came to grab the plates and again when she came to drop the check and take payment. At that point it had been a long lunch experience that none of us felt like we should complain because we all just kinda wanted to leave. The ambience though was awesome, people watching was fun with all the people coming a looking at the gorgeous tree that our table was super close to so we got to enjoy that. Overall the food and the service wasn't very good. I realize it could have been because they were busy or just an off day. Visited with family for a birthday 'high tea' and were pretty disappointed. High tea is usually more toward the savory side and usually includes a warm soup to start. This is more like afternoon tea, with light sandwiches, scones, and sweets. Pros: The cucumber sandwiches and smoked salmon profiteroles were delicious, as well as some of the seasonal flavors in the sweets (chai panna Cotta and pumpkin mousse). The tea was delicious. Cons: I've never been to tea when one had to ask for sugar and milk-just baffled by this. We had to wait almost 20 minutes for a second pot of tea and had to flag a server to get it. Some of the beautiful seasonal flavors touted in the menu were just overwhelmed by chocolate - ie topping on the panna cotta. I only saw after eating on Resy and then our check there was a 20% gratuity that was mandatory with no way to change it, regardless of service which was not great. The ambiance is, of course, spectacular as only a 1920s hotel can offer, but overall the experience and service were not worth the price. read more

I've visited Palm Court Grill many times for lunch and while the food tends to be pretty standard the atmosphere is what really makes it! I've found it nearly impossible to make reservations by phone so don't waste your time if you don't need any special accommodations-you can save yourself the frustration of hold times and unanswered calls and go straight to Resy.com to book a reservation. If you're up for a sugar boost try the huckleberry lemonade- it's pretty delicious and they keep the refills coming! I usually try to book 'fireside' tables with friends and family to enjoy the ambiance of the historic hotel but this summer they are doing renovations in the lobby and are seating visitors in their dining room only. When I visited with my parents they sat us next to a window which we initially thought was fine until the constant flow of sirens and homeless people hanging out on the sidewalk started to take away from the otherwise enjoyable lunch and ambiance. Not knocking off any stars for that since that's not the fault of the Davenport just an FYI. I'd recommend holding off on a visit until August which the waitress informed us was the anticipated end date for the renovations. All said and done it's a very nice place to bring out of town guests and enjoy a casual lunch! We will definitely continue visiting and look forward to seeing the completed renovations! read more

Anniversary dinner at the Davenport! We sat right in front of the famous fireplace. It was perfect. James, our waiter took great care of us. Started off with huckleberry heavens. They were like spiked koolaid! Appetizer was the trio which consisted of cougar gold cheese dip, teriyaki steak bites and jumbo shrimp cocktail. Very delicious ( that I give a 5*****) our choice of entrees were the beef tenderloin. They both came rarer then requested, but still okay... food could have been a bit warmer. That is why I could only give a 4 star rating. Everything else was perfect. Cream brûlée to share as a finishing. It was yummy! We made it disappear very quickly. James was nice enough to take our picture by the fireplace. It was a wonderful evening. Highly recommend. Note: a bit pricy , but we expected that. It's the historic Davenport after all! read more

High Tea today was really awful, avoid this place if you can. Sandwiches were served on bread so stale that the only question we had at the table was how old was it? My bet was a week of being left out, others thought 2 or 3 days. The savories that were supposed to be served on toast points were soggy. Wait staff rolled a tray of three tiered plates by that were pre plated and wrapped with saran wrap, probably to be served next week. The scones were dry and hard, inedible. The cream and fruit sauces on the table were scant and room temp. The eclairs were old and strange tasting. The teas were served with the water not touching the tea leaves, so when I finally asked about *that, the waitress unbelievably told me that's how tea is presented (no it's not). The water line was below the infuser so nothing was steeping. This, don't forget, was a high tea experience. It appeared that they ran out of hot water and didn't have enough to fill a full teapot. Things just kept getting worse and worse and we finally asked for someone to fix the problems and they said that it was "the experience" we were paying for, not the food quality. We never got the deviled eggs and realized that these lazy staff members couldn't leave *eggs out for days, on the same trays as the bread so they just removed them and didn't serve anyone eggs. Finally, after a laughable session at this expensive supposedly fancy high tea, we ask for the check. After all the complaints we made they added on a 20% gratuity that we disputed. They refused to discount anything and we were stuck with it. When we explained that they need to notify folks before auto charging tips, by law, they argued that they didn't. By the time we got home the Davenport had added that language to their website. This is the biggest scam in Spokane, laughably horrible. At $60 per plate ( don't forget the forced tip!) It's absolutely ludicrous. We are trying to escalate this to the owners. read more

Went for inland restaurant week. All the desserts were excellent especially the Davenport signature Sunday. Had the halibut which was ok. The couscous was the best part of my main entree. Our waiter was really pleasant and the guy that delivered our food was awesome too. The restaurant itself is in an open area in the Davenport hotel therefore allowed us to be able to see the guy playing the piano which was really nice. read more

I asked the server was going on and she said the manager is going to honor the price but they are in the process of raising their prices. We ate here twice while staying at the Historic Davenport Hotel. The food is good and each item has a subtle, non-overwhelming flavor. The service tended to be a little oppressive with the waiter hovering over you. For dinner we had the Cougar Gold cheese dip, the French onion soup, and chicken fettucine, with creme brulee and their special "Rolo" Dome dessert. The soup was especially good, with lots of cheese and a delicate flavor. The cheese dip is also especially good, with several kinds of peppers mixed in. The Rolo was overwhelming in all its chocolatey and caramel goodness and we couldn't finish it. For lunch the next day we had chicken tenders, the grilled cheese sandwich (add bacon), and more Cougar Gold dip (it's really good). The grilled cheese is made with sharp cheddar cheese on length-wise sliced French bread and was especially tasty. read more

I'm shocked that Palm Court Grill doesn't have a higher rating. First of all, the Davenport Hotel is a historic, beautiful structure. The Palm Court Grill has seating in the lobby in addition to in the actual restaurant, but either way the ambiance is very classy. When I dined here, there was 8 people in our party, and our server was quick and didn't mess up anyone's order. He was very friendly too, and gave us a few helpful recommendations. He suggested I order the filet, and I was glad it did! The filet itself was cooked perfectly, and came with a large portion of mashed potatoes and vegetables. Even if you aren't staying at the Davenport Hotel, I'd suggest coming here for a meal while in Spokane. read more

Tried ordering the prime rib dip but she said they were out. In a friendly manner my mom said 'oh man I was really looking forward to that' as it's what we normally get every year. She made a face and just walked away. So rude! Guess we weren't welcome there as she just walked away and wouldn't let us order our second choices. FWIW, we're local and we've been dining at the Davenport for more than fifty years now and this most recent visit was our last. Since the Marriott affiliation, quality and quantity of food are just no longer acceptable. We were there on a slow weeknight, ordered simple dishes, but they were still too long in arriving. When they were served, the salmon came underdone and had to be sent back, coconut shrimp were few in number and flavorless, duck breast, again small and unfortunately overcooked. The vegetables were a few string carrots and a scoop of rice. With the variety of choices downtown, we'll never dine at the Davenport again. For those staying at the hotel, much better to be had within easy walking distance; leave the hotel and find someone who cares. read more

My sister and I went there for restaurant week. For my appetizer I had smoked salmon arancini. It consisted of rice balls with two small pieces of salmon each. The balls had a bread crumb crust and were supposed to be fried. They were not hot, the rice was dry and there were exactly two small pieces of salmon in a golf ball sized rice ball. I had the historic burger which had been fried to within an inch of its life. The bun had been resting in some sort of sauce so it was extremely messy to pick up. The fries were good as was the spiced apple trifle dessert. The lighting was so low we could not enjoy what was obviously beautiful surroundings. I would not go back. However, the Peacock room which contains the bar is beautiful and serves food. I would definitely go there for dessert and coffee. read more

The food was mediocre at best, the service was terrible and I can understand it was a busy night but the server walked past our table many times to help other tables, and if she did "stop" to ask if we needed anything it was her walking by and us having to turn around as we let her know we needed something as she walked away. The drinks were inconsistent. And one drink I ordered (soda) wasn't ever brought to the table and she asked if I still wanted as we got our checks. As someone whose worked as a server I understand and sympathize with a server on a busy night but it seemed to he much more then that. Our table was just not made a priority and others were. The food & drink not being good was not our servers fault more so the restaurant, therefore all around id tell others to avoid this place esp for the price point. read more
