Idk who the hostess is, but I have never experienced more exceptional service than I had during my visit to the restaurant. As a regular with my friend, Lisa, we know a thing or two about hostesses at this establishment and this girl is top notch! During our last visit the music station that was being played was all out of whack and she actually connected her phone to the speakers and played some fire music that got the place buzzin'. I thought the manager Sharon on that night was quite rude to her staff and used vulgar language. I thought the young staff was doing a terrific job. Pleasant surprise. Driven past this many times and finally decades to stop. We had calamari appetizer that was very good . My wife asked for espresso martini and the waitress suggested a pumpkin espresso martini. Great choice. Warm rolls and butter also arrived with our drinks. My wife had fish and chips. Very light batter, nice fresh cole slaw . I had shrimp Mozambique over pasta. Nice and spicy. Good portions .The food was very good but the main thing was despite being crowded everything was served hot. Only complaint was seating . My wife and I had spent the afternoon at a small folk fest in Warren, RI. We decided to try the Palmer River Grill, as it is on the route leading back to the main highway. We loved it there. The interior was clean and at a comfortable temperature. I'm a fried seafood fan but decided to leave my comfort zone and try the Lisbon Cove Seafood Pasta. It was delicious! And it was full of lobster claw meat, scallops, shrimp, chourico slices, mixed in pasta with Lobster cream sauce. It is a bit on the spicy side but I loved the flavor. My wife had the Grilled Salmon & Shrimp and she said the salmon was nice and tender. I have to say that I have been disappointed at a few other places that were skimpy on the food serving amounts so I was very happy when our food came out here and the serving size was more than ample. The chef at this establishment definitely knows how to make quality food and they don't skimp on the serving size. I look forward to trying other menu items in the future. read more

Food was delicious! Had the Asian boneless wings for an app and they were AMAZING. The sauce was Yummy with the perfect amount of spice. Chicken was juicy and you could tell it was freshly breaded. One I'm very grateful for Palmer River Grille accepting reservations for our small party of four on Thanksgiving day. We were seated upstairs and the atmosphere was quiet and nicely lit. There were 3 waitresses and four table buss'ers. Well staffed. Which is why I am most curious no one cleared the appetizer plates before serving our meal. We literally had to ask and hand them the dishes (empty) to get them off the table. This was disappointing. Our appetizers were coconut shrimp which was Outstanding and delicious. Calamari cooked "RI" style (3 choices offered) it was very rubbery and way to large, drowning in liquid from the peppers so the batter that should have been crisp batter was soggy and not very appealing. Our meals were The "Thanksgiving special" our parents enjoyed , raved it was great. My husband and I had the swordfish it was cooked beautifully and melted in my mouth. Side choices were plentiful and nicely cooked. My only other thought is plating, it could have be more appealing. This is my parents favorite restaurant I know they'll return. As for us I'm not so sure but who knows. Kudos to our table server Kaitlyn who was cheerful, knowledgeable and helpful. read more

I absolutely love seafood. I start with fried calimari every time. A good benchmark. Three versions are available. Typical RI fried with banana peppers & butter. Then there's an Asian fusion, sweet & spicy. I tried, upon recommendation, the Mozambique sauce, on the side. Spicy, vinegar, tomato. Unreal. Seriously. Other patrons had meals I cannot wait yo try. I've got Portuguese stile pork meat, little neck clams and potatoes to go. I cannot wait!! This is where the previous Country Inn was operating. They were very good. This is definitely a step up. This was possibly the worst baked stuffed scrod and baked potato I've ever had. The scrod was bland, almost to the point of being flavorless. The stuffing (what little there was of it) had the appearance and consistency of having been frozen and reheated. It also was about as flavorful as hospital food. The baked potatoes were undercooked - we had to recook them ourselves - and were not provided with any butter or other toppings; just rock hard potatoes wrapped in foil. One expects much better for $19 - at least including a vegetable without having to pay for an additional side would have been appropriate for that price. Call up Gordon Ramsay or Robert Irvine or someone who can teach you how prepare something properly that has some flavor. read more

We ate here this evening, the food was acceptable . However we watched 2 tables get flipped with less than acceptable sanitary measures in about an hour. With Covid at 9% there is no reason to be flipping a table without waiting for the sanitizer to kill the germs! The price of their Alcohol drinks was extremely high! Disappointed. Had dinner last night. The waitress was terrible, not friendly and did the absolute minimum. Order Portuguese soup and French Onion. Waited over 20 minutes to be severed. Portuguese Soup was terrible, and French Onion has weird taste. My veal with brown gravy was good so that's was a plus. My son ordered a burger well done. It came very pink inside, and after waiting so long for food he didn't want to return it. How can a cook not cook a burger well properly. My beer was also flat. All and all not a good experience. This is our second visit here and LAST! Ordered prime rib medium rare the first time we came, it came out well done, when showing the waitress she stated" that's how it comes out" she said next time you need to order it rare, I said it should be cooked to order, anyways tonight we tried it again mind you it's almost $30 for the prime rib. So I order again medium rare, Sure enough it came out well well done, my husbands fish was over cooked, the waitress never came back to the table to bring ketchup or vinegar or Tartar sauce. Our son ordered clam chowder and chicken Alfredo, he never got the clam chowder. We understand it's not the waitress fault, but this place has no consistency and it's not cheap to eat here either. (Even after she gave us menus) She was reading off the specials from her phone (odd, as I feel these should be memorized). She was yelling and complaining about the tap being kicked. I was told "that party is really messing things up" first time patron who WON'T go back nor bought the gift card I'd intended as a gift. Advice, treat everyone equally. We are returning customers. We have been there a few times over the last few weeks - every time we try something new and we are never disappointed, even the drink specials are tasty. The restaurant is spacious, the waitstaff are pleasant & helpful and food is delicious. I feel like everything has a home-made feel and taste to it, and the portions are large. I always take something home. Prices are reasonable for everything you are getting. We will continue to return. read more

We did not order any appts so there was no reason for the delay ... she than checked the kitchen and we were served by the manager 15 min later ... additionally there was one young waitress who felt the need to literally run through the dining room to the kitchen every time she went to place or retrieve an order ... what the heck was the fire drill ?? The worst was a tuna melt. Absolutely zero taste, not sure how you can ruin something so simple as this. The Portuguese pork and little necks could have been spicier. I did not like the sauce served with the fried mozzarella. Too thick and the flavor didn't taste good. Overall they did a nice renovation in a long neglected space. They seem to still cater to the old Country Inn crowd. The menu is very similar and so is the age of the crowd. Decent place but nothing that I absolutely die to come back for. read more

I was always a HUGE fan of the country inn (the previous restaurant that was located here a few years back). So my first time coming here I was very excited. Palmer River Grille delivered exactly how I thought it would. Delicious, family friendly, and inexpensive! My husband and I's favorite meal is by far the Island Chicken, but we have tried many things on the menu and haven't been disappointed yet. This is my second time there I was told I needed to try it again. The 1st time I got a piece of a metal scrubber in my meal. Told manager nothing was ever done still paid side meal I didn't eat. This time order the stuff chicken very dry and rubbery line it was put in a microwave. Mashed potatoes were watery didn't taste like a potato at all. First of all they did an absolutely wonderful job updating the decor from the last place. It was good, no great or even very good, just good. the dinner rolls are frozen pillsbury rolls you can buy in your local grocers freezer. They are the Pillsbury crusty french rolls. I got the Chicken Sorrentina and it was very good. However my wife's baked stuff shrimp was below average and not very good at all. It's pricey but not grossly overpriced. My wife and I went out on Friday to Palmer River Grille. We have eaten there many times before and found that the quality has seriously gone down hill. Firstly, our waitress had as much personality and service mindedness as a sloth. We saw her twice, once to take the order and once to give us the check. We ordered appetizers, my wife had the Clams Casino. Frankly they sucked as bad a some sort of miniature frozen stuffed clam. Where exactly the clam was is still a mystery. They used to have a nice batch of little necks with some bacon, spices and a bit of breadcrumbs toasted with a little butter. These were definitely not that. I was looking forward to the Maple Pan Seared Scallops, even though the last time they became quite small, but looking forward never the less.... Well, guess those are off the menu. So, I had mediocre but decent Calamari. The steak was good, but my wife's chicken parm was large but tasted like canned Ragu. They made an awesome drink, it would have been nice if the waitress came by during the meal and offered to refill it. But she was nowhere to be found. I suppose they are suffereing from a staff issue as this last visit was so poor quality. Sorry, but not, We will not be coming here again. You have lost our business and I am sure we are not the only ones. If you have to cut costs, do so in portion sizes and not in quality. read more
