So we are in Ft. Worth Texas on a adventure trip with our dog. We decided to take a recommendation and eat here. I wanted some Tex-Mex food being Mexican and in Texas. I figured this should be good so I ordered shrimp fajitas. My husband ordered enchiladas. He had a couple of beers and i had Prickly Pear margaritas. The shrimp was seasoned with all of the right seasons, tortillas were excellent, rice and beans were tasty as well. My husband's enchiladas were carne and chorizo mix. Everything was hot. Perfect AC excellent good taste but I gotta tell you that service. The server Jaime was very attentive. He offered excellent suggestions on what we should order. Everything was perfect. Need I mention to manager loved my dog and it was a little hot outside. I have a service dog and sat in a small corner and we're very content. Later I introduced to the manager the security guard Brittany, who suggested the restaurant. I told the manager I would love to buy Brittany a drink after work how can make this happen. He spoke with her briefly and said "Brittany come back after your shift at 2pm and the Restaurant will buy you a drink." So it is very obvious this place is top notch. So I went for a late night happy hour, they do close at 10 so they only give you one hour of happy hour duh happy HOUR since it starts arms 9pm. There is three choices, beef duck and one other meat birria. It does come with rice and beans which I was really surprised that the rice was good considering that I'm not a fan of Mexican rice. Their beans were a little bland, but I added some of the red salsa that came with the chips to give it a little more flavor. Their queso was pretty good, which I love that it was kept warm. Came here before the rodeo on a Saturday night. This place is really cool on the inside. We had a large party of 9 people. Definitely make reservations on a weekend; we were sat rather quickly upon arrival. Our waiter was absolutely great. We ordered the Queso de la Casa, guacamole and the brisket stuffed jalapeños to start. I really liked the thickness of the chips and all the appetizers were really good. I'm usually not one that likes bbq mixed in ethnic foods but they did it nicely with the appetizers at least. For dinner I went with the waiter's recommendation of the crab stuffed shrimp. Presentation wise this place does well; portions to price are good on some dishes and ehh on others. The shrimp dish was okay, I personally wasn't a fan of the crab stuffing, but the shrimp were good. This place is really cool, but I'm not a fan of super loud restaurants and dark ones. As a self proclaimed Tex-Mex connoisseur I was left rather disappointed in this place. The ambiance is nice and has a very modern feel, but is crazy dark at night. Be sure to bring a flashlight if you want to read the menu. The location of the restaurant is great and planted smack in the middle of the stockyards. Pretty cool and touristy if you're visiting. I ordered the cheese enchiladas and their queso sauce. Apparently an enchilada plate was a new concept because the rice and beans came out separate from my dinner plate which is strange for an enchilada dinner. The queso sauce was good, but not a home run. The downfall was the enchiladas themselves. The tortillas were hard and over cooked like you could use the enchiladas to play drums with and the cheese inside was a solid cheese log. When i say solid, I mean solid. Nothing melting and stringy about it. I honestly wouldn't order them again. The chips and salsa were pretty great and apparently the chips were made fresh. So, that was nice. As for the service, it was great and the servers were very friendly, quick and efficient. All in all, because I love enchiladas I probably wouldn't go back to visit. However, if fajitas and different plates like that are your vibe then give them a try. read more

The beef short rib birria tacos are the best ever at Paloma Suerte! Crunchy, juicy, flavorful perfection. The brisket queso was amazing too. My friend ordered the Paloma grapefruit drink that was a 10/10 as well. I'm not a grapefruit fan so I was reluctant to try it. That was a mistake. I'll be getting that next time. Our server was in the weeds, rarely seen, and my chair was in the patio directly in the walkway where people kept running into me to avoid the patio heater. That being said, I'll still come back for the above mentioned items. Lol! I'll let someone else take it for the team next time. ;) Tim Love's restaurants are some of my favorites. Hands-down my favorite Tex Mex I had in DFW! The ambiance of being located in the Stockyards gives this place an authentic feel, and the inside has beautiful coloring with country music always coming from the speakers! I had my favorite margarita of my trip here - frozen blueberry! Not only did it come served in a glass with a koozie, it was delicious. Frozen margs are my favorite, and they do them right! We started with the queso de la casa, which had brisket in it, and it was easily some of the best queso I've had! I had the birria tacos, and I'm pretty sure my soul left my body when I took the first bite. I had had birria tacos before; but these were authentic, bursting with flavor, and perfectly crisped. I got the originals with the beef. I struggled to finish the rice, but it was also tasty! The chips and salsa were also worth writing home about - just great quality, and our server even sent us home with an extra serving when we asked to box it up. Prompt service and a great ambiance! I decided to have my birthday dinner here with my husband, and I sorely regret my choice of establishment. I will start by saying The queso and chicken enchiladas were fantastic! But Erick E was the most inattentive server I have ever had. We were sitting at our table for 30 minutes before he decided to ask for our drink order. When he did, he starred at my ID for a good 10 second before handing it back and said "I'll be back". Did he not see the date of my birth? No happy birthday, just ran off, returned with watered down Paloma's 15 minutes later. We had a beer at the saloon next door and the bartender actually gave me a beer on the house! We should've stayed there! Table next to also had a birthday going on so it just kinda of hurt my feelings that he went out of the way for a table of 10 but not a measly table of 2. We made reservations 5 days in advance for a Sunday afternoon. Upon checking in, the table they offered us was probably the worst one in the beautiful and big restaurant. It was the table that you literally walk into when entering the place, so close to the Hostess table that everyone would be standing over you while they checked in. There were plenty of other tables open. The servers after that point were attentive. Due to my quick questioning, we found out they fry everything, including the chips, in peanut oil. This was not well marked in anyway that we could see upon being seated. Fortunately, we found out just before my severely allergic son was about to start in on the chips and salsa (which we were also notified contains peanuts). We left. This is just a forewarning for other people with a severe peanut and nut allergy. We hear the food is delicious and the ambiance was great as well. read more

If I could give negative stars, I absolutely would. Here's a breakdown of our "memorable" experience: We asked for a table of five outside. Host at the stand says, "No problem, just wait by the bench.". Then, as we stand there like forgotten mannequins, a new hostess swoops in and promptly seats two other parties ahead of us. Cool, cool. I decided to ask apparent new hostess about our table. She didn't seem to know who we were. We were then given queso without chips (yep, you read that right). As we waited the waiter came by to just stir it as even he noticed how it settled with how long we waited. Next, the appetizer plates. They're... how do I put this? Well-aged. Crusty, leftover cheese from someone else's meal. Not exactly the kind of seasoning I was looking for. But here's the real kicker: we ordered two orders of fajitas for two, and they were given to the couple sitting right next to us who had literally just sat down. Another 20 minutes or so before the wait noticed. Most bizarre, most disorganized, most frustrating dining experience I've had in a long time. I had lunch here last week and have a directions tip for you. Paloma Suerte is not actually located on Exchange Avenuevas it's address says. While the large building that it is located in is on that street (along with several other businesses) you can't access the restaurant from Exchange Avenue. From Exchange Avenue enter Mule Alley and go down to the first alley on the right. The restaurant is about 75 feet down that alley. It's a new restaurant that has both indoor and outdoor seating along the picturesque Marine Creek flowing nearby. Inside its an attractively decorated eatery with artistic displays even hanging from the ceilings. They have a full bar and more than one dining area. I ordered the organic chicken fajitas for $20. Here they have house made flour tortillas but only store bought corn torts so I went with the flour ones. While waiting for the food to arrive (about 15 minutes), I noshed on the chips and cold red salsa brought to the table. The salsa was a little tart but still good in taste. When the food arrived I noticed that the amount of meat on the sizzling platter looked small. However with a lot of onions and peppers the chicken tasted very good. The meal also came with a generous amount of sour cream, cheese, guac and pico de gallo to slather on the big four tortillas. Unfortunately they only serve refried beans as they are not my preferred charro beans but oh well...nothing is perfect. This was a very good tasting meal along with professional table service. Paloma Suerte is a good choice when visiting the Stockyards to satisfy your Tex Mex craving in a nice setting. read more

READ THIS BEFORE YOU ORDER! The menu states that rice and beans are served for every plate. My Dads 55th Birthday was celebrated here and we all ordered our plates. Sister and I Each got the birria tacos which had good flavor but they only serve two tacos. My parents decided to order the grilled prime skirt steak with shrimp for TWO. Food comes out only to find out the beans and rice were served on one plate for all four of us!??? Like what??? They said they serve it as a family platter and scoop it accordingly. What if we weren't family and just a group of friends. Nobody wants to share and even if we did it was no where close to enough for each of our plates. The menu needs to be updated and state that and not say "All plates come with rice and beans" The skirt steak for TWO had 6 little pieces of steak and 6 pieces of shrimp. The smallest little plate for two I've everrrr come across. We were all honestly so in disbelief and disappointed with the food for the price we paid. I wanted to really like this place, but after visiting with a group of friends, this is a place I cannot recommend. We first tried making a reservation on OpenTable over a week in advance, but they had nothing except 5pm and 9:30pm. Fine whatever. We showed up in person and put our name on the list, we were told 45 minutes. Several empty tables and a couple no shows, but that didn't reduce our wait time at all. To pass the time, we ordered drinks at the bar. Even though it took quite a while to get a bar tender to serve us drinks, she was nice enough to offer chips and salsa while we waited. One rule of thumb that I've learned as a Tex-Mex connoisseur is that you can tell how good or bad a restaurant is going to be by their chips and salsa. The chips we were served, both from the bar and at our table from our server were dripping in oil but were also cold at the same time. We asked for new chips, but it took 20 minutes to get and our queso was cold by then. We also ordered fajitas, goat tacos, a quesadilla with steak added, and crab stuffed shrimp. All of the portions were very comically small. We didn't get tortillas with our fajitas until the very end of our meal, even though we asked several times. The quesadilla was $9, the 3 slices of steak that I added into my quesadilla was an extra $12!!!! Yes, $3 more than the entire price of my quesadilla. We let our server know that we were disappointed with the visit. He apologized but couldn't do anything regarding the service and hoped we would come back again. From the poor communication at the host stand to the terrible service at our table, not a place I can recommend. Definitely unique with cool vibes, but that's about it. Great for an Instagram picture, not so great as an eating establishment. Another thing I have to mention is the awful music choices that were being played. This is when I wish Yelp had half stars, this place is 3.5 stars. The food here is pretty good, it's on the pricey side for Mexican food but you won't be disappointed with the taste. We started with the queso de la casa which was white cheese, pico, avocado and brisket. Good start to the meal. I got the duck birra tacos which were pretty tasty. Duck is fattier and more flavorful than chicken and when the taco shell is fried and cooked in consommé it adds quite a bit to your average taco. The wife got the beef enchiladas with chili con carne sauce. Better than your average enchilada at your local Mexican food restaurant for sure. Our server was very friendly, and made recommendations based on our questions. The cocktail menu is adventurous, I had a blueberry tequila ricky. No idea what that really means other than it was tequila infused with blueberry. Solid cocktail! The restaurant gets busy, so would recommend a reservation for ease of sitting.
