This is a busy store. It's drive-through only at the moment, but that could change soon. We come here when we're in Cottonwood, and take our orders to a picnic table down the street. I never know what I'm going to order before we get into the line that extends halfway across the parking lot, but when I see the menu something always appeals to me. Very much enjoyed eating here, as it is one of the better Panda Express that I have been to. Even though the serving of Beijing Beef was the last of it in the serving pan on the line, it still tasted hot and fresh, as did the Black Pepper Chicken. Would definitely eat here again. read more

I have been to this location seven times since moving to Cottonwood. Each and every time they have been "out" of several items on the menu, once that included steamed white rice. Six out of the seven times they refused to make the item they were out of, explaining they cannot "waste" food. The seventh time they were unable to make steamed white rice because of time constraints. I have also had an issue with small portion size. The amount you pay does NOT justify the portion they give you. Poor, the location closes prior to the posted hours. The location does not make food after 7pm. All they will serve are what's remaining from earlier in the day. The only time I go to this Panda location is when I have plenty of time to kill. The drive thru takes an extremely long time and half of the time it takes way too long to get someone to take your order. I couldn't count how many times I have driven home to find out meal items were missing from my order. If you want to be disappointed and angry, go here. Don't order the broccoli beef... they only give you broccoli. And if you order teriyaki chicken they won't give you the sauce. Take your money to Golden Dragon.... it is WAYYYY Better, and for the same price you can eat so much more and you'll be supporting local businesses. I usually like the food. It's a nice change from other local restaurants when I need a meal to take home. I ordered Kung pow chicken. It was tasteless. Almost bitter. I don't know if I even found a piece of chicken after digging around in it. So strange I could not figure out what they did to it. And I'm a good cook. Dad was a chef. He taught me how to "taste" food. I know how to critique food, good or bad. Also i had the teriyaki chicken. Rather than the normal nicely sliced chicken thighs it was just 2 big thick chunks of chicken. The only teriyaki sauce was in a foil package. One bite of each item made me completely loose my appetite. It takes alot to do that when I'm hungry. Especially with something simple like chicken. I ultimately tossed it all in the trash. Probably ate cookies or chips as a last resort. I did not have the energy to call them and complain. I sometimes wonder if the restaurant owners or chefs even have taste buds. Or were they raised on spaghetti-o's and everything else takes great. Or how they stay in business. It takes me 6 months to a year to get up the nerve to go back to a restaurant after a negative experience. Or even never. Last time I complained about the food at a upscale eat-in restaurant in cottonwood the chef jumped through hoops denying they had downsized the fish size in the fish and chips. I understand why this Panda Express has two and a half stars now! I understand that it's not the employees fault that they still don't accept patrons inside yet due to COVID but it would be better if that was better understood. We parked and walked to the door and were greeted harshly. We aren't from the area and my son chose Panda Express. See, we let him choose because it was his tenth birthday and the only one he's ever celebrated without his dad present. With his dad on deployment, we wanted to make it special. We drove from Sedona only to have half our meal left out of our bag after waiting in the drive thru for twenty minutes or more. We had driven off before we realized and had to turn back around. Instead of waiting in the very long drive thru line, I walked up to the door, only to have the employees inside stare at me through the glass doors. The reason I put the one star is because the quality of this establishment is going down the tubes and fast. Shutting down the lobby just to do drive thru is a bad idea. You have like 10 cars the the drive thru, five in the actual line from the order box to the window then you have the rest snake lines slithering along side Taco Bell. If you have a online order and you think it's going quick pick up you thought wrong. You have to wait 30+ minutes to get anything. Change your ways or you will lose more and more people. I ordered chow mein, kung pao chicken, and bejing beef. When I got home the Bejing beef was mush. Very under cooked, like eating raw dough, and a cold piece of slimy Meat. The plate was all chow mein, and about 3 tablespoons of kung pao, and 3 tablespoons of bejing beef, and they Charge $9.01 for under cooked food, and very small entrees. Wow, what is going on at this place? Pulled up to the drive thru with one car at the speaker and the rest of the lane empty. The girl taking the order was very distracted, asking us to wait between each of the three plates we ordered and reading it back incorrectly each time. We were told they were out of the Beijing beef and it would be 10 minutes, so we opted for the beef and broccoli instead. This was at 6:58pm on a Thursday. At 7:12pm the car in front of us left after what was obviously a very long talk with the manager in an attempt to get something corrected. I don't know why he didn't ask her to go inside as the cars piled up behind us. Since it had been longer than 10 minutes anyway, we asked if we could get the Beijing beef instead like we wanted originally. First the girl said our order was already made. We asked for a side of it in addition. Then the Beijing beef wasn't ready yet... Next, the girl had to get help to read our order back to us again at the window. She was reading it off the back of a small paper plate for some reason, and it didn't go well. Miraculously, our order was correct, which explains the 2nd star in the rating. Was driving around looking for lunch and spotted a Panda Express. Not my first choice but since I was visiting and I knew what their food was like, I figured what the heck? Big mistake... They really have to work on their workflow and customer handling. I had five adults in three separate parties in front of me. They took their orders but at least cashed them out with their parties. However that took about 10 minutes. (I really have to time things next time). I wanted to try their Thai Chicken. Of course the lady in front of me took the last portion so would I mind waiting about 4 minutes as they cook up a new batch. No problem... I also got chicken with long beans and chow mein. Waited, and waited, and waited, went to the bathroom and they still hadn't started the thai chicken. Of course they were out of enough dishes that the lone cook got backed up. I finally decided to get something else. They offered me a free drink but since I already had one (Starbucks), I declined it. I asked for hot mustard and they said they'll put it in the bag. Got home and no hot mustard but I had potsticker sauce. Is that what they call hot mustard???? I don't think they even know what hot mustard is. Will I go back? Probably not to this one. The Chow Mein was greasy, the chicken and beans had beans & onions and sauce but only a couple of small pieces of chicken. The Beijing Beef tasted like it had been sitting for a while. The restaurant itself and the restrooms were clean so that's a plus. And they have a drive through. They still need some work....
