Let's be honest... is this the best Chinese food ever? Absolutely not. Is it the best Chinese food in Ramona? I was going to say yes... but then remembered the Vietnamese and Thai places offer some Chinese dishes, so never mind XD. Is it even fair to call this Chinese food? Probably "no" to that too. But listen. It is tasty, it is consistent, it is fast, and it scratches a very specific itch. Let's also not pretend this is health food. It is greasy, it is heavy, and it is absolutely "eat your feelings" comfort food. You can mix and match a bunch of different entrées for a decent price, which is great when you want variety without committing to leftovers for days. Every once in a blue moon I give in to the craving and it delivers. Sure, I am filled with self-loathing and my stomach has opinions afterward, but while I am eating it there is pure happiness. This location is pretty convenient, especially with the drive through. Service is usually pretty fast, although I did have one experience where it took about 30 minutes, so now if it looks backed up I just go inside instead. Who cares. Everyone in there is eating Panda too, so nobody is judging. There is not a lot of variation between Panda locations, but this one is solid. Since it is basically the only Chinese food option for Ramona and the surrounding rural mountain areas, they move a ton of food, which means it is usually hot and fresh. When I have gone inside, the kitchen is hustling nonstop turning out tray after tray. You already know what Panda is. It is not gourmet, it is not fancy, but it hits the spot. First I would like to say that I've been going to Panda Express for decades. I've been going to this particular Panda since it has opened. I'm normally not the type that writes reviews, and if I do, they are normally good. Panda has not always the best service, but they have been mostly accommodating. Mireya (Spelling?) is apparently the new manager and with her come some of the worst customer service. She continually cut me off and to the point where I couldn't even communicate a single word. She would childishly cut me off just to be annoying and couldn't care less if she lost a customer.Not only has her customer service been the worst I have experienced in a while, but it has turned me of Panda completely. She is in the wrong field. Customer service isn't for everyone. Panda, you need to pick your people better. I will not be returning as long as she is the manager. read more

My first visit to the Ramona Panda Express was a disappointing one. I've been to other Panda Express before, Poway most recently. I decided to order a few simple items, Chicken Egg Rolls, Vegetable Spring Rolls and Cream Cheese Won Tons, all items I've had before at a number of Asian restaurants and items I've made at home. As soon as I opened the items I saw that the Won Tons were opened and there was no cream cheese inside and they were soggy and greasy. The Egg Rolls and Spring rolls were also greasy and luke warm/cold. I brought the items to the manager and explained the issues. I was told the kitchen staff is still working out some issues and apologized. I completely understand having issues with a new staff at a new restaurant, completely, but visual inspection should tell you if an item shouldn't be sent out. I hope they can fix the issues they have and get their kitchen staff on point. read more

They work together and effectively communicate to one another to handle the waves of customers that come inside and through the drive through. The food is hot + fresh and the dining room is extremely clean. I want to recognize Carolina for how she addressed a potential customer service situation in a timely manner. There was a customer who was rude and impatient and Carolina handled it professional, courteous, and calm. What a true asset to the company. I am so happy they opened a Panda Express in Ramona. This Panda is like every other one except a few things that stand out in a negative way. I usually order chow mein with orange chicken and the honey walnut shrimp. The proportion is great but I haven't had any issue with the flavor at any other panda until this one. It's a hit or miss with the orange chicken and the walnut shrimp. Sometimes the walnut shrimps breading is raw and the orange chicken lacks flavor with the sauce and the meat itself. The chow mein will be bland sometimes as well. After a few bites I just want to put it down and eat later. The major standout is the drive thru aspect of the location. Built to exit on a busy main road of a small town is not great. It holds up the line as you wait for a clearance to get onto the road and majority of the time you can't see when cars are coming creating a safety hazard. All in all, it's fast food and you can't expect it to be perfect all the time. But when it's continuous there's something wrong. read more

I ordered The Family meal with Honey walnut shrimp, Black pepper Angus steak, Orange chicken, chicken eggrolls, Chow mein, and fried brown rice. I like the fact that online You can ask for it to be ready whatever time you want to pick it up. If you order online you can't go through the drive-through you have to go inside to pick it up. Here in Ramona it's a nice addition to fast food Chinese. It's nice to have something different to try now and then. It's not the best Chinese food I've ever had it's not even close but it is OK. The honey walnut shrimp were tender and I enjoyed them. The black pepper Angus steak entrée was spicy but pretty good tasting. The orange chicken was quite bland and definitely needed a bunch more orange sauce. Their fried rice was very good as a side. The chow mein was OK also not great but OK as a side. The chicken eggrolls were actually pretty good and I would definitely have them again. All in all they're starting to get it together here for a new business. I give this place a solid 3 1/2 stars. I went thru the drive thru and the service was good, it was quick, and they got my order correct. So, they got one star for that. I live 7.5 miles from town where the Ramona Ca Panda Express is. I ordered broccoli & beef, mushroom chicken, & honey walnut shrimp. I get home and the broccoli & beef would have been more accurately described as broccoli. There was 2 pieces of beef about 1/2" x 1/2". The Mushroom chicken had plenty of mushrooms and squash and 3 marble size pieces of chicken. The honey walnut shrimp was aptly named, I received one little itty-bitty piece of walnut about the size of a baby pea with the shrimp. If you need to charge more money, charge more money, but serving people this inferior fare can only hurt your business. read more

It's hard to imagine "Teriyaki Chicken" without a drop of teriyaki sauce. In fact, there's a little bowl of it in the picture on the Panda menu. But then...you go pick up your online order of at Ramona's Panda Express, and your little grilled "teriyaki" chicken strips are 100% dry. Oh boy..YUM!! Yep! ZERO sauce, not on the entree, not in a packet, not in a side container. No can do from the place where all they do is Chinese cuisine. And the pick-up order itself is already bagged and labeled as "ready"...you can't see inside the bag, & with the Covid etiquette, everyone knows it's sacrilege to open your food in public. We ordered online, and specifically requested an extra sauce packet of teriyaki, and even soy, & a chili sauce. When we got home NO SAUCES of any type were in the bag. Ramona is a big place -it's very rural. And we're still 15 minutes away each direction. I really wasn't going to make another 30 minute round-trip for a packet of teriyaki sauce. It should've been right. No excuse. Chinese is what they do, and teriyaki is a pretty big part of their menu. We didn't go in there and ask for a plate of spaghetti or rolled tacos with guacamole...just a splash of teriyaki on one of their signature dishes.
