The manager at this Panda Express branch had a terrible attitude and insulted customers. I live near this branch and often bring my children here to eat. In recent years, the quality of the food at this branch has been consistently declining. Last night, when I brought my child for dinner, there were hardly any other customers in the store. My child pointed to the label on the glass and said he wanted an apple pie roll, and I also ordered an apple pie roll in a loud voice. However, the manager did not proactively listen to me, which resulted in us receiving vegetable rolls instead. Because I had never ordered spring rolls or something similar, I didn't know that the label behind it was not for the apple pie roll I wanted. My child took a bite and said it wasn't an apple pie roll, so I took another and bite to confirm that maybe she give us two different. When I realized that neither of them was an apple pie, I went to ask her for a replacement. This manager had an extremely bad attitude, denied that I had ordered an apple pie roll, and even said that I had already taken bites of the food. We argued for a long time, during which she used abusive language towards me and asked me to search the trash bin for the receipt that the server had thrown away while cleaning. She even accused me of racial discrimination, claiming that I was discriminating against her because she is Chinese (I am also Chinese), and she said that I wouldn't dare to do this if it were someone from a different ethnicity. I hope that the manager can provide me with a written apology as soon as possible. At the same time, I will also report the issues with this branch to Panda Express headquarters until I receive a reasonable response. read more

I believe this will be my last time venturing to this location for Panda Express.....Normally, I try my best to stay away from this chain but really, who can resist the delicious aroma of orange chicken and some yummy Beijing beef? To satisfy my craving for some cheap fried Chinese food, made a quick stop to here and got my favorites: 1/2 order of chow mein & veggies + orange chicken + Beijing beef. My mom was with me and had ordered: 1/2 chow mein & fried rice + teriyaki chicken + chicken and mushrooms. Quality of food = ugh. Both the chow mein and fried was dry and bland. Even with the addition of soy sauce and hot sauce, it couldn't save these two items. As for the orange chicken and Beijing beef, it was a bit soggy, and was toooooo sweet than normal. Finally, the teriyaki chicken and the other dish were meh and not worth the mention due to its blandness. What happened to the food though? =[ This used to be my favorite go to spot for Panda Express for its convenient location, ample parking space, and overall, clean interior (despite some sketchy people who might appear once in awhile). After my attempt of consuming my meal, I did feel queasy and uncomfy. So despite the bad food, I will still channel my inner panda express cravings at other locations. Just not here. read more

The only reason I don't give Panda Express three stars is I absolutely abhor middle of the road (I use a four-star rating system), so Panda gravitates to being better than worse. Like Sonya said so eloquently, this is basically food court food, it's not Paseo or Art of the Table. You get exactly what you pay for. For about $10 you can get enough and not leave hungry, or take-out to wherever you are going. For $30 you can feed the whole family. I always get the orange flavored chicken and the fried rice. The egg rolls are a must-have, and I've never had a bad meal here or a problem with the service. What more could you ask for what you pay? Not much. The beef is good, too, as is the chow mein noodles. read more

Came here this afternoon just to get Hot & Sour soup. Approx 5-6 workers at 4:30pm. None seemed too attentive to customer needs. One person in line in front of me ordering a combo. Took a long time for her to be served. Finally a second worker came to help me. I ordered 2 soups to go. She goes to the almost empty pot and barely gets enough to fill my cup & hollers back to the kitchen "more soup". 15 minutes later the soup is ready. Luckily she didn't try to stick me with the cup of old soup & gave me 2 cups of fresh. It was very good but I think they might have some issues going on with labor that need to be fixed. Don't know if I'll be going back here. I'm sick of people, that deal with customers, not being able to communicate in basic English. That, and I can't stand people that let their children scream bloody murder, and ruin everyone elses' lunch. Stuff a sock in that brat! I placed my order, and was promptly shoved a plate that was incomplete. I felt very rushed, ( there were no customers behind me), and irritated by there inability to simply talk to the customer. I went to sit down, but I couldnt' without cleaning the tables off myself. They were ALL dirty. After I ate and went to leave, the place was pretty much empty, and the Manager was already sitting down and eating. Did no one notice the EXTREMELY dirty dining room?! They seem to run out of popular dishes fairly often, so sometimes the food is not that fast. Staff is mostly friendly, the lady that was super nice and helpful isn't there anymore, too bad. The lunch rush can get a bit crazy, but they seem to get everyone through the line pretty quick--unless they run out of food. read more

So I ordered my dinner tonight through the Panda Express app, I have done this before at this address, and I received an email that my dinner was delivered. There was nothing at my door, nobody made any delivery and I walked the entire apartment complex to make sure it didn't go elsewhere. So I called this Panda location and reached a lady who argued with me that I needed to speak with Door Dash about my order because they handed it off to the driver and have nothing to do with it anymore. I explained to her 3-4 times that I did NOT order through Door Dash! When I asked her if she was going to send my dinner to me, she hung up on me and would not answer the phone again!!! Completely lousy customer service!! No customer should have to argue that they didn't get their dinner OR be hung up on! They got my uber eats order wrong then have the audacity to tell me to bring the order to the restaurant so they can replace it with the correct one. I personally don't understand how it's possible to give this place a 5 star rating. It's essentially food court Chinese. At this location, the chow mein and rice are often quite dry from sitting under the heat lamps for so long. There is ONE choice of vegetarian entree (being Eggplant Tofu) for those of us who shy away from meat. They don't have sweetener for their iced tea. You have to ask for napkins. Wow! Never received ruder service in my life. Went last night at 8:30 (they close at 9:30) and they were out of many, many options including white rice. First I asked for white rice and was rudely told "we don't have any." I asked, very politely if it was possible to wait for them to make some, and instead of an "I'm sorry" or "no, not this evening we are looking to close soon." All was said was "NO." And harshly too! I asked, again very nicely, if there was any way to get a combination of more entrees because I do not like fried rice or chow mein, and instead of being told politely "no we are sorry!" The food is fast food to begin with so you know what you're working with, but I've found that other Panda Express seem to prepare the food better than this location. I also question the freshness of some of the items. I noticed that even going at early lunch around 11am that maybe they had prepared that dish too early so now its already sat out for awhile. Also, the rice and Chow mein have been very poorly made on several occasions with many hard pieces and dried out. Not appetizing . The staff is a mix. There's one lady who always very friendly and welcoming. However, the other shorter lady tends to be pretty apathetic but also impatient with whoever she's helping. Aside from that, all staff here act like their rushed and make you feel like you need to rush too. This is regardless of there being a long line or not. Hence, why I forgo getting samples to avoid any mean glares, haha. The store looks relatively new, and it seems like it stays fairly clean and well maintained. I found in the past that I enjoyed Panda Express, recently i have been disappointed, more often than not, with my meals at this location. I noticed a few times that I've had dishes poorly prepared. For example, my fried rice on multiple occasions was dried out and hard. Considering panda isn't that cheap for fast food, my expectation would be that it would have better prepped dishes. Understandably, they are quite busy since located right off a major intersection, but sometimes the staff acts overly rushed that they make you feel like you also need to just speed through your order. I don't sample anything because of my irrational fear of how they'd might react, haha. Anyway, I'd say if you're craving Chinese then it's not awful (but definitely not great). Yes, I am giving Panda Express 4 stars. But, please, keep in mind this is 4 stars in comparison to all other fast food places. With that in mind, service here is always nice and friendly. The place is clean and I always get the Panda Meal! Which comes with 3 entrees and 2 side dishes. And here's a nice little tip: if you see something that looks dry and unappetizing, if you order it as an entree, just ask politely and with a smile, "please, it is possible for you to make a new one for me, please and thank you?" And usually, they will! Hurrah! So you get fresh, out of the wok food. And I don't care who you are or where you come from - every once in a while you just get a craving for beef and broccoli or mongolian beef. The food was great, as always, but there are some issues with the management at this location, issues that are an easy fix. When I went, it was understandably a non-peak time, i.e. after 8PM on a Sunday. The majority of the foods were either out or needed to be made as ordered. Everything I wanted was available and good as always, so that was fortunate for me. Still a great value, i.e. a generous and well prepared meal for under $10. My issues stem from the fact that they seemed to be understaffed. They had two line cooks, a server, and a server/float, who was ostensibly responsible for cleaning the dining room. When a surge happened and 4-5 guests arrived in quick succession, they were not ready and a line formed. All resources were directed at serving us and dealing with the several empty food choices that they had to cook up on demand. The result was that the surfaces in the dining room and details like the restroom soap were neglected. There was excess liquid in the soda area and several of the tables had trash or residue on them from the previous guests. If they had one additional person, it would have been fine. The line would have been addressed in that people wouldn't have had to wait while a guest was rung up. There could have been a tandem. Also, that additional person could go and clean up the dining room and do bathroom checks more frequently, in order to prevent the distraction from the dining experience that resulted from the present structure. The problem isn't enough to deter me from PE ever, as I still love it. However, this location is easily the dirtiest I've ever been to. Downtown Lake City deserves better. read more

They open at 10:30am I got there at 10:53. I expected there to be more than fried rice, chow menu and one option for meat. I asked how long for broccoli beef and she said 8 minutes. I waited 15 before I told her I had to leave. I shouldn't have even waited that long. If your store states they open at 10:30 I expect everything to be ready. To make things worse she only gave me two pieces of meat and the rest broccoli. Time after time I've gotten bad service or some kind of attitude for the workers. Panda Express used to be an ok deal. Not the best Chinese food, but not all that bad. Asked for the 2 entree plate with "fried rice" Of course, the fried rice was the main item served, taking up maybe 80 percent of the styrafoam plate. The mushroom chicken and Kung Pao chicken were then dished up into two tiny little trays. I counted 3 small chunks of chicken in the kung pao side, and 4 very small chunks of chicken on the mushroom side. The fried race was beyond bland, had about 4 bites of it. The rest of it? The two "entrees" were gone in maybe 2 fork fulls each. Asked for spring rollsm which were placed on top of the rice. By the time I paid my bill, the spring rolls were soggy. I threw them away. I think the total bill was close to 15 dollars....I could go to a sit down place down the street and get a full meal of Kung Pao chicken, with soup, rice, and spring rolls for about the same price. Sometimes they have a tendency to leave their entrees sitting too long in the warmers and they aren't as enjoyable as if they were fresh. BUT, it is much better than the Panda in Northgate mall. Of what was remaining, I wont go as far to say the meat was overly dry but darn near close. Amazingly enough the taste was still good. The food was the worst we have had from that location. We had shrimp with a gooey coating not cooked, sweet fire chicken with each piece burned on one side and chow mein that was dry, greasy, with no flavor. Such a shame. Really good Chinese food. I always get the classic orange chicken and chow mien. I'm a big chow mien guy and I'm not gonna lie the chow mien is not that good here. Its very salty, makes your ass explode, but I love to eat it for some reason. The sweetfire chicken is great, and so is the black pepper chicken and green bean chicken. You can ask for brown rice, which was a surprise and a treat! I normally go here to get my carb fix, once a week. The fried rice is quite flavorful and the broccoli beef, very nice! The restaurant is very clean and the staff are always pleasant. It's a nice place to eat by the window and watch the city go by, while you sip your Raspberry Tea and get reacquainted with a friend, or a great book. Conveniently located and a pleasant happy atmosphere. The staff is always very nice and seem to enjoy their jobs. I like being able to watch the kitchen as well. It's fascinating. The food is always fresh, the selection just right for lunch for dinner and the portion sizes are very fitting to any size appetite. You get good value for your money and it's quick and convenient to grocery shopping and only 5 or 6 minutes from the Northgate mall. I thought I was going to be able to get a herd of miniature pandas here all quick like. Alas, I settled for mediocre Asian-American mish mash. Sometimes you just need to eat something other than the usual... and sometimes that's Panda Express. They are quite fast... but I find the lack of panda costumes on the employees to be a little misleading. Rule of thumb: if the tray is nearly empty... you should choose something else. Let some other poor sucker be the one to get the last of the Mongolian beef that's been slowly cooking for hours on the line. These non pandas are quick to greet you happily and will move your jolly ass through the line quite quickly. It's all a bit reminiscent of the lunch line in grade school except I'm not trying to flirt with the girl in front of me by offering her my chocolate milk. If you want real and delicious Asian style noshings you need to hit the ID otherwise welcome to the Jack In The Box of Asian food.
