I went to Panda Harlem for Mother's Day. I made my reservation online, which was simple. Upon arriving I used the valet services ($40). Paying for convenience was the best option for me. This restaurant is a fun place for a date. They have a lot of old school R&B music. There is also a photographer that walks around . The pictures come out really goood so budget for that. All of the main entrees do not come with sides. You have to get add rice or vegetables. The chicken bao buns are very tasty and light as an appetizer. The cocktail drinks do not disappoint. I had a passion fruit margarita . For dinner I ordered the spicy kung chicken it's not spicy at all. The spice is very mild. The customer service is very good from the time you enter until you leave. I' almost didn't come here because of the reviews, but we risked it and said let's go anyway! I had the best time, music , decor, and the SERVICE was absolutely wonderful. They kept checking up on us, multiple people serviced us, no long wait for food. We had chicken satay, shrimp tempura as appetizers, then for entrees I had sweet and sour chicken and my partner had the beef and we shared shrimp fried rice. (also, it was 30degrees out) after he took the hat off and said we'd just hold it, the security added 'if you put it back on, we will have to escort you out'. umm, ok? relax. im not going to get into what having a 'dresscode' implies (tell me you r@cist w out TELLING ME you r@cist). but you are in HARLEM and you got a 'no hats, no baggy bla bla bla' sign but are "inspired hip-hop culture" (per website)? make it make sense. you want the hood 'aesthetic' but don't want 'the hood' in your establishment? please. 2. hostess says we cant be seated cause our entire party is not present and the '90 minute table limit' starts as soon as you sit down. so we go to the bar area, and there were no seats so we asked if we could just sit at the table. hostess repeats that she could not seat us. however, per your website and QR code: the 90 min limit was for weekends (this was a wednesday at 6PM). ok, we wait and grab a drink at the bar. mind you, the spot was EMPTY. no table had people and no one was waiting, LMAO but ok, we cant sit down. 3. gratuity (20%) is included on ALL checks (yes, even on the two drink check at the bar). annoying and thirsty but ok. also, a 3.99% 'service fee' is applied to every credit card transaction. so if you split your bill on multiple cards, thats 3.99% every swipe. its giving SCAM LIKELY or you want to 'encourage' people to pay cash. why? we know why. ;) (not going to get into how RIDICULOUSLY over priced it is cause this is NYC and sh!t is gonna be overpriced). but sadly, would not return. i hate when a new spot in the neighborhood is a vibe until its not. read more

We visited last on a Thursday night. The servers were great. The cocktails were good. The lo-mein I ordered was overly sweet for my taste. Scallion pancakes were crispy like a chip. Lobster egg roll was tasty. Watch out for a line on your bill that says "Cash Disc:" - It is in fact a 4 percent upcharge for using a credit card. They call it a convenience fee. I call it a rip-off. I took my daughter this past Father's Day, and I gotta say, I had a very pleasant evening. Aside from the waiter being a little bit dizzy and/or "blazed up", (if you know what I mean) and the music being a bit too loud, (It was good, though) the atmosphere was nice, albeit freezing, as we were seated right under the A.C. vent. Lol. Now, the food was amazing!!! I had the Filet Mignon and Broccoli, and my daughter had the pork (Yikes!) dumpling appetizers and the Shrimp lo mein, which we both shared portions of everything (I didn't touch the dumplings), and it was all absolutely delicious! We had drinks, which I personally asked for a VIRGIN fruit slushy, and got more liquor than a little bit in it. (Another reason why I thought my waiter was high. Plus, he wouldn't stop smiling). Me and my boyfriend went to Panda for the first time last week. what started out to be a great date it ended horribly!!! We had some good food and good drinks the waiter was great with the service he provided until.....He gave us the check my boyfriend gave him his car, the waiter came back but NO CARD WE searched from where he walked to our table. He never once apologized pretty much gave up on searching for it until I went to the manager. when she began to search he followed suit, the manager took our contact info down no apology not even a here's a free napkin for your inconvenience. The first thing to say is this establishment does not take reservations through Yelp. Very important information because I made a reservation for panda Harlem through Yelp for 830 and when I got there at 8, they said we don't take yelp reservations, but they have to honor our reservation. The hostess was very very sweet and nice. She said she will get us a table but it will be a few minutes. Which was fine because we got there early. We waited for a table for about an hour and 30 minutes. Which is a long time , to be just standing by the bar. I been here before so just in case the people I was with didn't like the vibe , I also had reservations for Brooklyn chop house and woo woo bar as well, but every time we were going to leave they said, it will be only a few more minutes. I don't blame the hostess, she was great but that wait was too long. They didn't even offer a free shot or anything. So remember don't make a reservation through Yelp , do it through their site or open table. So , when we finally got our table , we didn't get anything for the inconvenience and then .... The waiter comes . First , he seemed fine but then he started taking orders and that's when the experience went from bad to worse. He was polite but he forgot drinks , and forgot food orders as well. He brought things we didn't order and things that we did order never came. He told us , it's because it was so busy but how is that our fault. One person didn't even get what she ordered for dinner. Close to the end of dinner , two of the drinks that came out were completely wrong and was asked to be taken away and taken off the bill or taken back and made stronger and correct. The waiter comes back and slams one shot down , then when confronted about what the shot was for , he said to make the two drinks stronger . The people I was with said no please take the drinks away and take them off the bill and we will take the check . The waiter was pissed and stared at us angrily for about 15 seconds like we were wrong and finally took the drinks but when he took the drinks , he was so aggressive he spilled one on the table and on at least 2 of us at the table got wet . But whatever, then he brought the bill with food we didn't even order and he didn't take the drinks that were wrong off . We could not wait to pay and leave . The tip was automatically included but honestly, he didn't deserve it . I honestly think he was high . The food was actually amazing as always . I've eaten here about 3 times and the food was always great and delicious. Funny thing I want to add is the other times I've eaten here , I've always been rushed out but yesterday when I'm standing for almost 2 hours there were people eating before I got there and still there after we left . So they were at tables for more than 3 hours . I want to like this place but I'm not coming back , I know they don't care because they have their regulars and they are always packed but I'll rather go to Phillipes or mr chows or jue lan or Brooklyn chop house because they are just more organized. Great restaurant with fantastic cuisine. I had the chicken fried rice with the sweet and sour jumbo prawns. For appetizers, we started with chicken satay and the rock shrimp tempura. The rock shrimp tempura was a bit too spicy for my taste but The other people in my party thoroughly enjoyed it. The chicken satay was INCREDIBLE. The sauce is definitely a hit. My prawns were delectable and the chicken fried rice was awesome. I was excited to try Panda Harlem being that I am a frequent customer at Sei Less and I love their food. The vibe at Panda is old school/new school hip hop which makes you feel nostalgic. The only downfall was the bouncer at the door upon entry. I arrived at 5pm and I was asked if I had a reservation. I told him I didn't and his response was rude and impolite. He was outside the restaurant socializing and seemed annoyed when I asked if there was availability. I would've given this restaurant 5 stars if it weren't for the impolite and callous greeting I received. Please train the bouncer on proper etiquette. Being abrupt and insolent will only drive the customers away. read more

Let's start with the ambiance...walking up to the building there was a bouncer at the door on his phone asking me if I had a reservation. I said no and he told me that there wasn't seating available and I'd have to eat at the bar, which I was ok with, but it felt very unwelcoming as a first impression. I then walk in (this was at 6:45 on Tuesday, for context) to find an almost totally empty restaurant with dozens of available tables. The hostess sat me at a table (fortunately) but it was the most in the corner, awkward table in the whole place. I then sat there for almost 15 minutes with nobody coming to see me. Finally the hostess noticed I hadn't been taken care of yet and sent a server to my table. I ordered and the food came but I was mostly ignored by my server and had to physically get up from the table and walk around to flag someone to get her to come give me the check. The food was...fine...nothing special, but no better than any Chinese takeout place, but three times the price. After finally getting my check, signing and getting the hell out of there, I noticed they not only added at 4% credit card fee to the check (insane when you're charging $35 for a very small entree) but they also suck in automatic gratuity, but there was no mention of an automatic tip on the menu and it was hidden inside the taxes and credit card fee on the check so it was difficult to check. I ended up tipping on top of it without realizing it and now this server got $21 bucks tip for ignoring me and offering a plate of sweet and sour shrimp, some chicken wontons and an iced tea and I'm out almost $85 for the evening....total rip off. read more

The bartender didn't even tell us her name , me and my friend had to get her attention and it was only three people at the bar . Listen that may not be a big deal to most but I AINT GOT THE FUNDS I need all my extra coins. Now at the table they've velvet blue seats were comfortable and beautiful. My friend hated that chicken satay, I had the chicken and broccoli which was delicious my other friend had the sweet and sour chicken and we had vegetable rice fried rice and vegetable noodles everything was good .. shout out to the waiter TONY he was the best ever. Honestly the food was good but I think where this restaurant is located at they come down on the prices a little bit. For all the money we spent in there we could've went to Philippe Chow because that's what the restaurant reminds me of. They also charge you a fee to use your card I guess the prefer you to use cash. I went to Panda Harlem with my fiancé on Thursday night and I was really looking forward to eating here. we ordered some drinks and appetizer. The chicken satay was not seasoned and the peanut sauce didn't make it any better. My fiancé ordered his third drink and the glass was cracked halfway.Then when we told the waiter,he brought the manager and they made him a new drink and gave us two shots of case amigos. Then we decided to not be even more disappointed and just asked for the check and they still charged him the drink with the crack in it. We then spoke to the manager and he was giving excuses as to why the services were not up to par. Then he took the check and fixed the error and then brought the check back which was the correct about for about $95. Then the waiter came with a new check and said it was the same amount. So my fiance gave the waiter his card and when he came back he check the amount and it was the wrong check. They charged his card $250. My fiancé was very upset and the manager continued to give excuses and then they told him they were going to comp the food and when we were leaving they stopped him and told him he didn't pay for his check. So he continued to be upset and gave him the card so they can charge the real amount. After this experience I will never wanna come here again. read more

I made a reservation for Panda for Valentine's Day. I was beyond excited to eat there, but upon arrival my partner and I were handed a "prefixed menu" which was never stated prior to booking. When I inquired with the waiter could we order from the regular menu we were told "No". Due to the it being Valentine's Day we couldn't leave to eat anywhere else. They set the prefixed menu at $85 PP which included appetizer,entree, a shared side of rice, & a shared desert. After cross referencing the regular menu prices with the prefixed menu prices they were charging us significantly MORE money for LESS food. When we calculated the items from the pre fix menu vs the regular menu we were being up-charged $60 more and still had to SHARE items on the prefix menu that we would've never shared before (ie: Rice). We were charged $170 for what should've been a $110 meal. What should've been $150 meal with drinks included ended up being $216. Then on top of that there was a service fee to use our card instead of cash, automatic 20% gratuity & a bunch of other taxes & fees which brought the bill to damn near $290. Im not taking away from the quality of the food or service, but we felt like we were SCAMMED & forced into a menu that we never notified about on Valentines Day. I'm someone with food allergies & didn't appreciate not knowing about this "prefixed" menu in advance. Due to this situation I'll never eat at Panda Harlem again. I don't like feeling like I'm being taken advantage of by a restaurant. They also had a flyer on their Instagram that NEVER stated there was a prefixed menu for dinner. read more

So this is my second time coming to Panda. Sadly, it will have to be my last. We came here for Valentine's Day. The first thing I noticed was that instead of their normal menu, something my wife was really excited to sample, they had a fixed price menu. Most restaurants, when they were going to do this for a special event would put the menu on their website. They failed to do that. So, when my wife arrived, excited to try all these different selections, she was very disappointed to find that nothing was available on the fixed price menu. We chose the chicken satay and the wontons for the starter. I had previously ordered the chicken on a separate occasion. They clearly have changed the recipe. The chicken tasted like it was doused in butter. I assume that is because they used a great deal of coconut milk in the recipe. But without anything to cut that heavy fat content, it just tasted like slivers of chicken swimming in lard. The wontons were marginally better. Next, we have the entrées. I ordered the filet mignon with broccoli, and my wife ordered the Beijing chicken. The last time I ate here, the filet mignon with broccoli was a highlight. Here, it was just so salty and lacked any attempt to elevate Cantonese cuisine. The biggest problem was that we were served appetizers almost immediately. We then waited an hour and 15 minutes for entrées to come. After about an hour, our waitress came by to ask if we had received our entrées yet. I told her we had not. My wife, by this point, felt unwell from the appetizers and had retreated to the bathroom. About five minutes after the entrées arrived, a disgruntled waiter appeared with our dessert selection only to realize we had just been served our food. After he gave us a look as if to say, "can I just leave this here" and my responsive look that said "oh please don't leave our dessert on our chicken," he finally went back to the kitchen. The portions were not large enough. Why they thought it was OK to have two people share a bowl of rice and ONE SLICE OF CHOCOLATE MOUSSE, I will never know. What ever would they do if someone showed up alone on Valentine's Day, I wonder? As we were finishing the entrée, the waiter kept coming by to clear plates. Literally, things were being snatched away from us before we could finish eating. This was especially frustrating because we had waited for over an hour for the food to arrive and now we felt like we were being rushed out the door. By time the chocolate mousse reappeared at the table, my wife and I were ready to hit the road. It certainly was not worth an $89 fixed price menu per person. In the end, after tip, our meal was almost $400 for two people. We left hungry and my wife had horrible stomach problems due to the appetizers, and we waited for an hour and fifteen minutes between the appetizer and the entrée. This felt like a cash grab that is unsupported by their quality of food or service. read more

My first time my experience was horrible I was charged twice for a meal I waited more then a hour for and upon the request of getting my refunded for which I was under the impression was an honest mistake I have not got anything back yet and have been blocked and lied to by staff and management. My second time going in which I was invited at the end of the dinner we received the wrong bill from different tables twice and tried to award us with free drinks for honesty because the bills were lower then what we ordered initially but still mad a mistake on our bill by adding 2 items we never received.
