I am a frequent visitor of Panda Inn! I was on my way back home from Vegas where we decided to go to Panda. I've never been so disappointed! I should've just chosen to go to express! My soup was cold and I had to ask them to reheat it twice!! The Mongolian beef was so chewy, wasn't the way we always get it. I had HAIR in my food which I was shocked considering it's a very clean restaurant. Our waiter took forever to take our order and came by only once to refill our drinks ... I was sooooo upset that me leaving a tip was definitely an extra!! Panda Inn you really need to get back to your game!! read more

This is a follow-up to my earlier review dated 12/24/15. A couple of days after I posted my unflattering review, I received an email from Mike M. in the Marketing department, apologizing for the long waits that day, and offering a voucher encouraging us to try the restaurant again. So, on 1/2/2016, we decided to give it another shot. I ordered online again, and decided to add 20 mins to the promised time. (As we were on our way to pick up, we even got a call from the restaurant saying our food was ready.) Anyway, we were pleasantly surprised by the food. It was quite good. We ordered: Honey Walnut Shrimp (excellent), Orange Flavored Chicken (good, but spicy), Cashew Chicken (bit bland), Beef and Broccoli (also good), Braised String Beans (excellent) and Hot-n-Sour soup. The packaging was done well (no mess from the soup or sauces when we opened the package) and the food was warm even though we were a few mins late. A nice touch was the fortune cookies dipped in chocolate (everyone loved those). Anyway, this experience was a lot more positive than our previous one. The food is quite good -- so we'll definitely consider Panda Inn again in the future. read more

Just got out of here and boy it felt like pulling teeth just to get a hold of our waiter. Our food took forever to come out & on top of that it was cold. Mind you the two tables next to us got there food within five mins of getting seated (Don't know what magic occurred there) . The waiter didn't even check on us & for that he got no tip. I don't know if the quality was poor because we ordered delivery (which took an hour and a half to arrive, 20 minutes later than the ETA), but the four dishes we got tonight were terrible. I think the quality and taste at Panda Express would've been much better. And a whole lot cheaper. The chicken fried rice was tasteless as were the mixed vegetables. The lo mein was greasy and tasted days old. The beef in the Mongolian beef was well cooked, tender and tasteful, but the accompanying green onions and bamboo shoots were awful. It's been a year since we've eaten here and at that time it was of equally poor quality; we thought we'd give them another chance. Mistake. We won't give this restaurant another try. There are too many high quality Asian restaurants in the San Gabriel valley to waste time at this place. read more

Wow such a disappointment! Food was ok (other times it was very good) with the exception of the tea smoked duck! Yuck!! First it was deep fried and didn't look fresh. Looked like it has been sitting around for a while. If it was deep fried it would've been crispy but was not. Our server was so unhelpful didn't even refill our beverages once. To top off she would cater to the party next to us, bringing them water and asking them if they wanted fresh plates. Such a disappointment really considering of changing our party to another venue next month. read more

This is our favorite Chinese food joint! Every time we have taken anyone there for the first time they fall in love with it. Our family's usual order consists of Kung Pao Chicken, Honey Walnut Shrimp, Assorted Chow Fun, and Panda Beef. Then to top off an awesome meal we get white chocolate covered fortune cookies. Yum!! I grew up eating here and haven't been back since 1999. Just went this week and while the restaurant has made some serious upgrades, the food is just as incredible! 5 stars for the 3 flavored sizzling rice soup and for the white chocolate dipped fortune cookies!! The beef and broccoli was good and and so was the orange chicken-- both were even delicious the next day! The crispy chicken wontons were great too! And the custom ice-tea with grapefruit was seriously refreshing!! read more

Ohhh yummy this place is so good. One of the nicer Chinese restaurants in the whole area. It is super trendy with red n gold decor and the staff is friendly yet very perfessional unlike alot of chinese restaurants ive been too. The food is great quality so dont be expecting some diving chinese takeout food. Its also one of the best places for large groups, parties, ect. They have large private dining rooms in the back with lazy susans to make passing chinese food easy. Would Recommend: Kung Pow anything =) honey walnut shrimp fried rice wonton soup egg drop soup (BEST IVE EVER HAD). This review is only in reference to our take-out order. Portions were small. My family was underwhelmed with the flavor of the food. Two items were not included in the bag and my husband had to go back to pick them up. If it wasn't for a school fundraiser, we probably would not have eaten here. They need to decide who their client actually is. I used to feel like a VIP in there and paying $14 for a dish was worth it. Now, it's the lunch special and the staff are like robots. Panda Inn is okay. I was not too impressed with anything. The food was good but oily. I recommend the braised string beans and the honey walnut shrimp. The waiters and waitresses are fast and do their job. They aren't too friendly, but at least they get the job done. The prices are moderate, but the portions could have been bigger. The atmosphere is loud. It's hard to hear the person sitting next to you because all of the other customers are yelling. read more

After waiting at the bar for 30 minutes with everyone else that showed up this night in December 26,2015, we were finally seated. The waiting area was standing room only, crowded with not only diners who wanted to eat but also with customers waiting in line to pick up phone ordered food. The staff had 2 kinds of appetizers along with ice/cucumber water and ice tea on the side of the bar for you to help yourself while you waited. I would like to interject here with a suggestion to the owner of Panda Inn who happened to walk in and get a private room this very same evening. Chicken nuggets n fried cinnamon tortillas is not the way to go. At least put some thought into it and put out something Chinese for us not haphazard items for us to suppress our hunger. Lastly, we waited 50 minutes for our dishes to be served.. While the owner's private room seemed like rush hour traffic much like the 210 freeway, food being delivered non stop. Stay away from Panda Fried Rice, a soppy dish much like a risotto, unintentionally, I'm most certain., rice in mushy liquid:/ As always loved the Walnut/Shrimp but unfortunately it was the last dish to arrive to our table. read more

Went for Father Day. My parents love this place but the quality of the food and service was just OK.

Not what is used to be. Came here because the Glendale location is still closed. Says it will be open Jan 2017. Odd it isn't. Anyways dropped $70 for two people here. Had the hot n sour soup, orange chix, calamari, crunchy noodles, walnut shrimp. Honestly what a rip. The calamari was the biggest rip off of all. $10 and I get a small plate of MSG laced calamari. Orange chix and walnut shrimp tasted like it was cooked before hand and just heated up. I would not be surprised. Food came out slow. Not as slow as a another big party. They go pissed and confronted staff about appetizers. Do yourself a favor hit up china town or rowland heights such as tasty garden for REAL chinese food. This place blows. Not only is the food great here time after time, but the service is spectacular! Last night, Mother's Day, my family had reservations (I made them) at 5:30. When we arrived, my name wasn't on the reservation list...ugh...well, the hostess grabbed six menus and said, "follow me". Showed us to a great round (which we prefer) table. So even though it was completely packed due to Mother's Day, the hostess (I wish I got her name) sprung into action and saved the day! We were grateful. Then we were given a great waiter, his name was Henry. He was so accommodating, helped us get situated, took our drink order and within seconds brought our drinks. In a very timely manner, he took our order and our food arrived in good timing...which was excellent because of the busyness of the restaurant. Henry had a great personality, very pleasant and accommodating to my very picky family. :) Every time we eat at Panda Inn, it is always, and I mean always a good meal, good service and a good experience. We don't know what happened to this location - but it needs new management. The food here is good ... not as good as it used to be when they first opened in the late 70's - but it's flavorful and not overwhelming as with some Chinese restaurant's can be. What is troublesome is the fact that the attitude has changed - and not for the better to be sure. From the hostess to the waiters and even the manager ... they are just not friendly. A better phrase is cold and robotic. No personality or warmth. While we don't come here for the attitudes ... it does make for a better experience if your dinner is served by someone who at least acts like they are happy that you are there. Some of the folks that work here are down right Grumpy!!! Any of their dishes are good ... but not great and not as good as it used to be. What happened? Did Andrew get greedy now that he's making a mint with his Panda Express empire going full tilt? What happened to William Yu and Tom Cherng ... when they were there ... this was a great place to eat and a good time was had by all. read more

If you are looking for family-style chinese food, you can easily find a better place for a more affordable price. ITEMS WE FEASTED ON: - Panda beef - aiite - Egg drop soup - good, a few in my group complained it was too salty. I thought it was fine ^_^ - String beans - yummy - Honey walnut shrimp - good - Vegetable lo mein - forgettable - Upside down noodles with shrimp - ok, this dish confuses me. It looks beautiful in the menu and it actually came out as pictured where the gravy is at the bottom of the plate and deep fried noodles were towered on top, but right when it got to our table the waiter flipped the noodles over to another plate (thus the name "upside down noodles" i guess) and turned it into the sloppiest noodle plating i've ever seen. He should've at least make a spectacle about it like "Hey, look at what I'm about to do to this beautiful presentation of noodles! *flips*" but nope! Shallowness aside, it's a good dish. - Minced chicken lettuce wraps - i'd recommend ordering 2 if you have more than 5 people in your group. Tad salty, but i'd tap that again. "Cool!" ya might think but...it was actually very disappointing - it's like these edamame beans fell asleep in the LA Fitness sauna across the street for an hour too long...WAYYY OVERCOOKED. I'm surprised at how popular this place is, judging from the lines. I would expect something like this to be big say in suburban Minneapolis or Atlanta, where the Asian fare is more limited. However, the food here is very mediocre and un-authentic. It's not really all that different from Panda Express (which is opened up by the original owner's son). The service is more tailored toward American standards than your typical Chinese restaurant. The decor is definitely one of the highlights of the place, it has many faux-museum pieces to give you that Oriental feeling. Unfortunately, the food is basically your typical Americanized Chinese food cloaked in "avant garde" names with trendy descriptions. If your idea of Chinese food is Chop Suey, Egg Rolls, and Sweet & Sour Pork, this is your place. If not, you'd do better even at PF Chang's. You're better off driving a couple miles east to Arcasia for the real deal for half the price. read more

I'm rating the good food here! Definitely will recommend the walnut shrimp. Great for a big group, although I am surprised how casual the feeling is. I expected something a little more formal. Our server was very knowledgeable on the meals and very accomodating for our group of 13. The area we sat was fairly loud, so that also surprising; I would have anticipated a private area for such a big party.
