I remember when going to Panera Bread felt like a step above McDonald's. People enjoying coffee, the smell of fresh bread and pastries in the air...it felt like an experience. This location did not live up to that at all and needs a lot of work. When we walked in, no one was at the front. Instead, there was a line of people trying to order from a single kiosk. An employee eventually came up front, but she was carrying her phone. There were no pastries or fresh bread displayed at all, which was surprising. After ordering, we tried to find a table, but every single one was dirty...covered in napkins and debris, like they hadn't been cleaned in quite some time. My son grabbed a milk, sat down, and started drinking it--only for us to realize it was expired by a month. Completely unacceptable. Two older women came in, likely just out of church, wanting to order a simple bowl of soup. They seemed confused about the ordering process and that no one would bring food to their table. My daughter ordered soup as well, and it came out cold. Overall, the food was subpar. I don't usually leave negative reviews, but this experience was disappointing. Panera used to feel like an upscale fast-casual option. Right now, it doesn't come close. At this point, I might as well go to McDonald's. read more

I typically have a great experience with the pick up orders at Panera. And even with any of my adjustments or substitutions for items they always come out amazing. I ordered one of the new bowls that was a steak bowl. I have to say it's one of the worst salads or bowls I've ever had. It is not steak and definitely tastes like roast beef sandwich meat. The sweet potatoes were very hard. And it just wasn't a good quality salad overall. I will continue to order from there, but I will stay away from the new steak bowl. read more

We went to the pick up counter and they prepared the order for in dining. Woman who took our order was patient and helpful and found additional macaroons in back which made my MIL happy. The food prep person was obviously not happy to be working there that day - my salad was missing its chips (we take them home) as was the soup. Food prep person wasn't happy correcting the order. Nor were they happy when I asked for utensils (the area with utensils was missing virtually everything). The chicken rice soup was tasty but lumpy cold. I noticed a micro at the front of the store - I think the intent may be that customers nuke the freshly ordered soup themselves? The corn chowder soup was excellent and was served at a better temp (not really hot but not lumpy cold either). The salad with chicken and berries with the poppy seed dressing was fresh and cold. Super delicious. The chicken salad sandwich was fairly tasteless but the bread was fresh. The "hot water" for the tea was tepid at best. Asked for hot water from the person who took our order and was given a scalding paper cup of water. I feel a bit little Goldilocks writing about the water but we needed to add ice before it became suitable to pick the cup up. The restaurant was a mess - tables were not wiped down and the floor was bad - not just in spots. This is probably my biggest complaint - makes me wonder what the food prep area looks like. They had one poor employee taking the order and the line was long. They have self serve ordering kiosks but my 94 year old MIL likes using a live human which I understand. I wanted dressing on the side but I got thousand islands dressing on the chicken and a container of poppyseed dressing. There were no Mandarin oranges, strawberries, blueberries, and pineapples in the salad. My husband ordered a half a sandwich and half salad. He got half a sandwich and an entire salad. It is not clean. Look under the cold drink dispensers. It looks like it hasn't been washed, swept or even inspected in weeks. It is not managed. All coffee dispensers were empty by 3 o'clock. This Panera is absolutely awful. For two nights @6:30pm within two weeks I order from this Panera and they are "out of bread" except for white bread. No baguettes, no focaccia. "Sandwich" is Just over 4" square for a 1/2 sandwich. Got this, a half salad, two bowls of soup, and a full sandwich which was two of these 4" jobbies. $37. $37!?!? For this?? Order # 439957987 We ordered 2 spicy Thai salads. 1 half and 1 full and a French loaf bread. I asked to leave out the Thai vinaigrette and asked for extra Thai salad dressing. Since it was a to go order for pick up due to the current envirenment, we couldn't check it until we got home. They gave us no dressing and extra vinigerette! We asked the French loaf be thick sliced but received bread squares like what would be added to French Onion soup. The vinaigrette makes me ill it is so bad and I wanted the bread for sandwiches. I have never really liked Panera but the new recipe Thai salad was good with the dressing just not the vinigerette. The first time we ordered from there I ordered a bagel too. I have been a sip club member for about 3 months now & always get the strawberry charged lemonade. This location used to be my go-to, but recently this lemonade has been tasting terrible. For roughly the past 2-3 weeks (10/3-21), the strawberry charged lemonade has had an after taste of beer or is just undrinkable. I go to the Palatine location when I am not working from home & it always tastes normal, so I know it is not an overall Panera issue. This location is convenient for me when I work from home, but I will not be coming here until this is fixed because I do not want to waste my money. I have been driving farther when I wfh so I can ensure that my drink will not taste bad. I hope this location can figure out why this is happening soon! read more

Went to this Panera drive-thru around 830pm after a long day. I ordered a chicken sandwich with no peppers and a kids grilled cheese. After a VERY long wait, not only did the chicken sandwich come with peppers the grilled cheese was pathetic (as seen in the pic). Is the kids grilled cheese always just 1 slice of cheese burnt on hard bread where it doesn't even stick to other slice? Definitely don't plan to go back to this one. read more

So I ordered the you pick 2 with a roasted turkey and avocado BLT with no tomato and a bowl of broccoli cheddar soup, a frozen strawberry lemonade, and a chocolate chip muffie. This was my first time having the frozen strawberry lemonade, and I was expecting it to be really crunchy with ice, but I swear right when I sipped it, I went straight to heaven. The consistency was so smooth, and it was so flavorful and refreshing. I've had this sandwich before, but I didn't realize that they used sourdough bread(!) and it really enhanced the flavor of everything. The soup was amazing, as always, and it was hot and fresh. Same with the chocolate chip muffie, great as always. I just really felt like I needed to share this review because of how exceptional my meal was today. How hard is it to take an order of four items and then put those four items in a bag? Apparently it rivals rocket science because this is two times in a row now I've gone through this drive through and been shorted food. The last time I ordered a soup, two sandwiches and two chips. When I got home I had soup, one sandwich and two chips. Today, I ordered two breakfast sandwiches, one souffle and one greek yogurt with berries. Got home and what did I receive? Two breakfast sandwiches and a greek yogurt with granola. No souffle. No berries. Previous visits have also gotten the order horribly wrong as well. I've had it with this place. Horrible execution. Poor, poor management. I've now wasted over $20 on food I never received. So not only is Panera using more plastic, they downsized the portions so Panera is now an even worse value than before.
