Panera was catering a luncheon for the wife's department in appreciation for all their hard work. She wasn't very hungry so she brought home her roast beef sandwich. I get home and see this scrumptious looking sandwich sitting on the kitchen table. One bite became two and it was so darn tasty I ate the whole thing. Afterward, I heard the wife telling me to save her some. Sorry babe. She was looking kinda upset but when asked if she was mad, she shook her head and said no. The thing is I've painfully learned it was the kind of "no" which really meant YES!, so I had to resolve things quick. *On a side note, if women are mad, why don't they just say so?* Anyway, we drove out to the Millbrae location so I could buy her a substitute free sandwich. Situation defused. Overall, I'm liking this place. It's a nice little sandwich shop where you can sit for a minute and use their free wifi. I really liked this Panera bread because the people here are extremely nice and very on top of it. This is a great location if you want to grab a quick bite before your wait time is up at Go Kart Racer in Burlingame. They allow you to customize just about everything you want in your sandwich or salad and even when making a smoothie they're so quick at it and give you the extras if they end up with some! I love this place. It has everything a girl like myself can every want and need. They have fresh breads, bagels and pastries along with yummy made to order sandwiches. I love that they have ample amount of tables along with free wifi for your pleasures. They are well staffed and very friendly for a chain. I particularly like the fact they keep you well informed with your order even if it is just something as simple as a salad. I am really torn here. Are their sandwiches good? Yes, they are good. But it doesn't take a Thomas Keller to create a decent sandwich. I've been to Panera on three separate occasions and each time I leave feeling like they just raped my checking account. Yesterday was National Sandwich Day (not sure if it's official, but someone on the talk threads said it was so it must be true then right?) and I made a point of making a pit stop here for lunch. The menu is rather extensive and it takes a few minutes to get through it and figure out exactly what your stomach may prefer. I went with the mozzarella and tomato sandwich with basil panini. I am a lover of cheese, basil and tomato and anything toasted or grilled so this would be the perfect marriage of sandwich ingredients. The sandwich was ok, but as I mentioned earlier it's really difficult to mess one up. My one criticism is they used some tomatoes infused with some sort of tapinade that overpowered the other ingredients. I could not even taste a hint of the basil. I lost interest after only eating half and did not finish the rest of it. As a comparison to the above mentioned sandwich, a day earlier I picked up a panini at my local supermarket (Nob Hill Foods in RWS) and it was much better than what I had at Panera. $10 for a meatless panini, a small bag of chips and a coffee also seems a little stiff. I come here often and forget to check in a lot of times. Its on my way to work and on my way back from thr gym.....I try to get different things each time but I end up coming back to get bagels for the office or their french baguette sliced and if you put butter on top, heavenly! I've been getting the strawberry banana smoothie lately, it's not too sweet and you can taste the strawberry and bananas. They use low fat organic yogurt with it. Their poppy seed strawberry salad with chicken is good when they have it in the summer. I've had their pesto pasta, it's a little too cheesy for me but otherwise it's good! I've been going to Panera for years now. I always order 1/2 of the frontega chicken panini and 1/2 of the Mac n cheese with bread. On the occasion I would also order a low fat mango smoothie. It doesn't fill me completely but it leaves me at that perfect level of content. So good! read more

Came here after I went to SFO. I figure this would be a great place to pick up breakfast for my bf and I. When I got there, at around 9:30am there was plenty of parking. Walked in, wasn't acknowledged, and a bunch of people were confused standing there trying to figure out where to pick up their order. Service: 2/5 I went to cashier, ordered a bagel, she asked me oh do you want cream cheese, and of course I say yes, why would I want an empty plain bagel. I ordered a ham and cheese egg sandwich for take out too. She didnt tell me where to pick up my ordered like everyone else, and I stood there for a second and had to ask her. She tells me I go and wait towards the back of the store. They call me but thankfully I checked whats inside. It was only the sandwich and no bagel. Confused I went to her and she just left my bagel at the register without telling me...the service was not great, didn't feel appreciated for my visit and she was not helpful nor friendly. price and value: 3/5 A little under $5 for a sandwich that is smaller than the regular slice of bread. The taste was good. I did not appreciate a $1.65 charge for cream cheese without being told. My total price came out to be about $8 and I was confused how I even incurred such a cost. Typical panera bread location. Employees are friendly and responsive to customer requests. A clean and quiet place to enjoy a meal or study. I would suggest calling ahead or using the app to order ahead during busy dining hours...the in-n-out next door makes it a headache to get to the location. The location (like most panera breads) has solid salads, sandwiches, soups, and pastries. I would highly suggest the fuji apple chicken salad, creamy tomato soup, clam chowder (only on fridays!), and the blueberry scone. read more

I have been to lots of Panera locations around the country. This one leaves some thing to be desired as compared to the rest. The bread is always on the dry side. And as for the croissants at this location,, well , stop calling them croissants! The this served is more like a mini loaf of bread with a bend. The texture screams bread loaf. The flavor screams bread loaf. The lack of layering on the outside says bread loaf. The moisture content of the inside say bagel! After four failures in as many visits I am calling their croissants crap! Take the French Onion, leave the bread in the store. Or better yet, go visit any Panera in Tulsa, Ok. you'll find such a difference in the quality presented that you'll find yourself desiring to fly to another state just to avoid the Panera in Milbrae. I love how I can get a yummy sandwich and hot soup so close by to work. Negative one star for the horrendous parking. Anyway... back to Panera... the service is fast and fairly efficient. Not the friendliest but they really get people to move through the line. I was about to give this Panera Bread a 2, but I can't downgrade their score just cause of poor planning in parking and the VERY busy In-n-Out that trapped my car in its parking spot. I was waiting for the bf to arrive at SFO. It was so windy yesterday that I'm sure the delay was because of it. Well I needed a place to sit and well...relieve myself as I have been drinking a lot.....of water ;) these days. So I saw that a Panera was near by. I did contemplate sitting in In-n-Out, but figured I didn't want to smell like burgers. This is a fairly sized Panera and had 2 stalls in the women's bathroom. It was ok in terms of cleanliness. The seating area was good. They had a couple long tables and what I really liked was the two person small booths. I was able to snag one in the corner and just chill for an hour and a half. It's definitely a nice place to sit in rather than the cell phone sitting area in San Bruno. Consider getting a pastry and a drink and you'll be waiting for your loved ones in style. read more

I visit this Panera once in a while and have not reviewed them yet. I ordered using the mobile app and decided to use curbside service. First and foremost if you cannot execute a service you are offering please DO NOT offer it! My order was ready at 9:49 am and I was in the parking lot at that time. I tapped the mobile order to notify them I was in the parking lot and I even received an email notification that my order was indeed ready. After waiting in my car for 10 minutes I decided to go into the cafe to get my food. Time is money and I hate getting my time wasted ! The front patio looked like it needed to be cleaned and all the outside trash can were overflowing with trash! Not a good look. As I walked inside the cafe I walked to the pick up area and asked for my order. The female manager apologized, but not good enough. There were enough staff from my view but if they do not have enough staff they should schedule more or just take off curbside all together . I ordered an egg white, avocado, spinach sandwich with orange juice. The food was not that hot, but I ate it anyways. I will most likely think twice before I visit this franchise again . read more

My favorite fact about Panera is that they don't use any preservatives in their breads. Additionally, they are conveniently located near work and home, serve paninis, and also have a great variety of sandwiches and salads! They also have some great soups (some served in bread bowls) and breakfast/dessert pastries! Today was the grand opening of their first peninsula branch; Preceding this grand opening were two days of dry runs, serving up free lunches and dinners to anyone who walked in during certain hours! They handed out "United States of Panera ten phony dollars" to guests for their use towards any number of items (I ordered over $18 worth of items and didn't have to pay the difference!). What a great marketing scheme - rest assured, I was pleased with my gigantic portobello and mozzarella panini, so I was back the very next day, willing to pay full price. I've only been to one other Panera in Antioch, and the service here was consistent with my first impressions of the company earlier this year: competent, friendly and personable customer service with an efficiently-run food prep system (the coffee/drink bar is handled separately and guests are provided a pager to let them know when their meal is ready for pick-up at the counter). This is the least favorite of all the Paneras that I have been to so far. No, it isn't because of both the layout of the place nor its service. It is for where they put the ice coffee. At this location, they put it next to the coffee and not next to the soda/lemonade/iced tea area as it is the case at the other Panera locations. I had to make several trips back and forth, because the ice and other things (straw, lids, etc.) were not near the hot coffee area. I wouldn't recommend this Panera. There are other cafes/bakeries nearby. read more

The Magic Loogie..... I'm a fan of Panera Bread. My family has enjoyed the salads, sandwiches and soups...as well as the casual atmosphere and friendly service at many of their restaurants across the US. However, this brief review is not about those experiences. It's about what happened at the Panera Bread in Millbrae. After dropping my mother off at the San Francisco airport, I decided to look for a hot drink on a cold rainy day in early December. When I saw the sign for Panera Bread just off Highway 101 a short distance south of the airport, I thought my prayers were answered. I had a simple request. Hot chocolate with extra foam. The young guy behind the counter taking orders offered a quizzical look which implied "that's something the staff might not know how to do", but he stepped up and said "I'll take care of it myself". Mission accomplished? I went to the restroom and returned 5 minutes later. I didn't see my drink and the guy who took the order was slicing a large number of bagels for another customer. Ten minutes later, my drink appeared in the area where servers pick up food for delivery to people sitting at tables. I walked through the rain back to my car and eagerly opened the lid. It was the worst hot chocolate ever made. The milk was scalded so hot until it became the thinnest liquid you could imagine. There was no taste. Needless to say, foam could not survive such a beating. Oh, but they did have a bit of whipped cream on top...about the size and shape of a something stuck in your throat during a bad cold. I guess I should have skipped the bathroom and make sure the order-taking guy actually made my drink instead of passing it off to somebody on the kitchen line. I'd normally give Panera Bread in Millbrae 1 star, but I'll add a 2nd for the fond memories of past visits to other Paneras. read more

I will never order a catering delivery for my company again from there. We received our boxed lunch order on Friday, that suppose to be on Monday. Our Monday breakfast order was delivered on the correct date and a little late. Perfect. Come lunch time he came one hour earlier than scheduled. So I said please come back an hour later with fresh sandwiches. When he came back, I was told he has several deliveries. So I am assuming they make all their sandwiches very early, because by the time it got to our place the second time, which of course probably just sat in his truck for another hour, the bread was soaked through from the tomatoes and mayo.
