Panini Kabob Grill has always been reliable but for the first time, I was disappointed during my visit to the Bakersfield location. The quality just wasn't there, everything was extremely dry, burnt, and completely lacked salt. The only somewhat decent item was the grilled shrimp in the Caesar salad, which tasted just okay. The food arrived at the table cold, which made things worse. It was Thanksgiving, so that might explain the poor customer service. The waitstaff seemed stressed and unhappy, with only one waiter serving all the customers. We ordered their famous grilled chicken, but it was mostly burnt tomato, bell pepper, and onion. read more

Took our youngest here for lunch on her birthday. She had never been and wanted to try something new. It is such a nice open and clean restaurant, and it wasn't very loud so we could talk normally to each other. And while it was full, we received our food and it was stunning. We did get a bread basket and a side of red pepper hummus as that is her favorite kind, and she LOVED it. When our main meal came out the waitress let us know that the orange rice on top was saffron (my daughter can be picky, but if it is a herb or spice that is her favorite thing to try.) And my goodness it was a hit! We love Panini Kabob Grill because of how fresh and clean the food and space is, the kind staff, and the portions are nice and hearty. We all left with a to go box, and every bite was savored later in the day. Her review after we ate, "This place is so good! I give it a 10/5 stars! We have to come back again!" So there you have it! Delicious food with serving sizes that justify pricing. I got the combo kabob with the amazing strawberry date salad. Everything went together so well, and I normally don't prefer Mediterranean food but this place changed my mind! Stopped here will traveling thru Bakersfield on Route 5. This restaurant is right off 5 when traveling north. It was chance in encounter as we new nothing about restaurant until stopped in front and checked Yelp. The establishment was not crowded for a 6:45 pm weekday. Service was quick although a bit robotic. A smile might have been nice. Ordered a beer and bowl of red lentil soup. The soup was as expected but probably a mistake as the portions of our entrees were huge. See the picture below and imagine they are very large pasta dishes (I am Italian). The Greek Salad was grilled chicken was flavorful and probably the best I ever had although no anchovies. Lol. The dressing was perfectly added with the greens crisp & colorful. My wife ordered the chicken kabob plate and she said similar as the chicken white pieces were large and tender. Kabob was already removed. I really wish we lived closer to Bakersfield to go there again. We were totally stuffed and next time no soup but will try dessert instead.
