A local staple. I've never had bad food here. I come here when I need some good food after work and I want to go to a relatively chatty place so my daughter isn't interrupting other peoples meals. While I wanted to love this place sooooo bad, the dinner food was meh. The queso was okay but a bit thick, but was the best thing we ate. The Christmas burrito just wasn't good and tasted...like maybe gamey? I don't know. The rice and beans were subpar too. We had planned on getting dessert but just couldn't stomach it. This place is incredible! The menu has plenty of offerings and serves breakfast all day. I tried the juevos rancheros, coffee and key lime pie. They were all knocked out of the park; great flavor in general and they serve Iconik coffee so it's quite good. I can't wait to go back and try more menu items. The only complaint I could have was that we got there about 30 minutes before closing and the staff wasn't able to be quite as attentive as I'm sure they normally would've been. Here at The Pantry for brunch and totally impressed. Started off a little rocky, the hostess who sat us was a little abrupt and cranky it seemed. But the food, service, and waitress made up for all of that. Got the carne adovada breakfast burrito and it was amazing. I got both red and green and wasn't disappointed. Everything you've ever heard about this place being absolutely awesome is true. The food tasted great and the portions are ginormous! Service was great and the prices are unbelievably cheap. A rarity when in the Santa Fe area. I can see why the wait time to get is about twenty to thirty minutes but it is well worth the wait. I would probably eat here all the time if I lived in the area. The Pantry opened in 1948 serving some of the best New Mexico traditional food. My hubby ordered the Buenos Dias Christmas style, which was Home fried potatoes topped with red and green chili, cheese and two eggs over easy and warm flour tortillas. I ordered the Chili Relleno Omelette; an Anaheim chili stuffed with Monterey Jack cheese, lightly battered and fried, rolled an omelette topped with the best green chili sauce I've ever had. I ordered beans for my side dish, very tasty. Our breakfast was absolutely delicious. I tried my hubby's red sauce,it was delicious, full of flavor and heat. We definitely will be back. I want to give Pantry Restaurant a 5 star. Food alone would be 5-star. However a few occurrences flagged my cleanliness (or lack there of) senses and I just can't do it. When waiting to use the restroom I noticed the storage of booster seats. They were filthy. Then when one of the two bathrooms, there was an issue with a toilet flushing. I mentioned it to a front desk person who jumped right on it. As I waited outside, I heard flushing but as he came out, I am positive I did not hear him wash his hands and dry them after messing with the toilet. He wasn't a server, however he is touching menus, buzzers, etc. I did use that bathroom after he fixed the issue and the soap was empty. I went back up front and other person at the counter thanked me for telling them and went to fill it. As great as my breakfast entree was, with lots of amazing restaurants in town, I'd pass on the Pantry a second time in fear of lack of proper protocol and cleanliness routines. read more

OMG. One of the best couple of tacos I have ever had in my life. The brisket tacos were absolutely divine. If these were available in my city, I'd probably be there at least weekly. I only tried the green Chile salsa, which was so layered with flavor. Hubby had the Frito bowl, which was fine, but it was no brisket tacos. While we were checking out, the lady said they have a breakfast item with brisket that was amazing. Can't recall what it was she said, dang it. This place has been around since 1948 and I hope they are around for many years more. 70 years so far is a pretty good recommendation for it. Looked like tons of locals filled the place.
