Got a double cheeseburger from them. Very tasty. Only gripe was I had to pay extra for fries. 10/10 would order again.

Nikkos offers a wide variety of food, not just Greek. Burgers, dogs, Italian beef, etc. I know from experience both Mediterranean and Middle Eastern places generally offer very good burgers, but I haven't personally tried Nikkos'. I must try them soon. What I *have* tried are Italian beef, gyro, and chicken, both in plate and sandwich forms. Gyro and chicken dishes did not disappoint. Their chicken kebab plate is my daughter's new go-to Greek dish, and I can personally attest to their gyro and tzatziki sauce. Super legit. Also, French fries are good. I've tried their Italian beef now twice, but both times I thought they didn't do a very good job getting rid of beef taint. Gravy was okay; nothing special. I'd personally put them right at the same level as Portillo's. It's got a very old-school diner feel to the place. Menus are displayed with pictures over the counter, making it super easy to read and order. As far as friendliness of the cashier goes, I'd rate them 3 of 5. I was greeted and tended by a very nice lady once, but it was two grumpy dudes the other time who were all business and no play. Nothing wrong with their work ethics or order accuracy or anything. They were just unpleasant. Just so I'm clear, these encounters don't usually deter my star ratings. More so an FYI. All in all, I'm happy with my Greek plates at Nikkos. I'll probably go back to try rest of the other menu items like shish kebab or even a burger.

Upon entering the restaurant, I checked out their menu on the wall above the ordering counter. I was craving a burger but was also in the mood to have a gyro. My eyes fell upon their gyros burger ($6.99). It came on a toasted brioche bun with a beef patty, gyro meat, lettuce, tomato, carmelized onions, and tzatziki sauce. This was the perfect item I could have ordered on this visit. I love a good gyros burger. I have had it a few times before elsewhere. I also ordered cheesy garlic bread, jalapeños cheddar poppers, and a fountain drink. The food came out shortly after ordering. My burger looked so good that I could hardly wait to dig in. The cheesy garlic bread was placed together, looking like a sandwich instead of cut-up flat pieces of bread. It was good in taste. The jalapeño cheddar poppers were hot and fresh. My very first bite of the gyros burger was full of flavor. I tasted everything that was in the burger. The gyro meat and the beef patty were flavorful and cooked properly. The tzatziki sauce added a nice touch to the flavor of the burger. The brioche bun was soft and toasted just the right way. Overall, I had a good experience again, just like I did on my first visit. The service was good, the prices were reasonable, the restaurant was clean and inviting. The restaurant is located at a busy intersection. Their parking is adjacent to the building that houses the restaurant and one or two other shops. Check out Craving Gyros if you haven't before. It is definitely worth a visit and more. I look forward to going back here again.

Tucked unassumingly in a shopping mall in Mundelein, Ararat is a tiny hidden gem. With only about an 8 table dining room, it is a cozy, intimate venue, with a huge and amazing menu, featuring Armenian cuisine. A party of 4, we ordered drinks, 3 appetizers, and an entree for each of us. The portions were generous, delicious, and we probably over-ordered by at least one appetizer, but we wanted to sample and share as many dishes as possible. We began with glasses of tasty Armenian apricot wine. Our appetizers came out in sequence rather than all at once, starting with Italian Lady's Fingers. A mixed salad of cooked bell peppers, nuts, onion and prunes. Very good. Next we were served Khorovats, Armenian style grilled eggplant . Also an excellent dish. Last was beef and lamb dumplings, Khinkili. One of these large, juicy dumplings could have been almost half a meal by itself. I've tried khinkili in a number of restaurants, and these were the best I've eaten. Our entrees were Steak Kebab, Lamb Kebab, Lamb Rice Pilaf, and Frikasse, a chicken, mushroom, vegetable in sour cream sauce dish. All were very good, and were were saddened that we were all too full to try any of their baked goods desserts. The meal was excellent, the small dining room comfy and the service very good. One word of caution: If you plan to dine here you must be patient. Dishes were served as they were prepared, and apparantly little if anything is prepared in advance. The advantage is hot, fresh, and tasty dishes. The disadvantage is that there was a 10 minute delay between service of the 1st and 4th entree. We were in no hurry, so we did not mind. Also we were sharing our selection. For a casual, relaxed, delicious dining adventure I highly recommend Ararat.

They have a large parking lot and (when it's warm) a nice outdoor seating area. Though, people smoke out there which makes it unpleasant for those of us not wishing to get the second-hand smoke and makes in unpleasant, so we have gone elsewhere because of this. This is January, though, so no worries about smoking near the food. We were seating it their very spacious dining room. The hostess lead us to our table as the cook (or manager) barked directions to her as to where to seat us. Other people came in after us and that same behavior didn't take place. It seemed odd, bt whatever. My wife and I were not looking for anything heavy so we both ordered soup and salad. She got the French onion soup and I the chicken noodle soup. Scratch that, I got the small cubed celery and carrot soup with a few noodles and couple pieces of chicken and a splash of broth. I guess I have to let them know that I prefer more broth in my soup because this seemed more like chicken noodle stew vs soup. She got the southwest chicken salad without corn. and I got the wedge without tomato and blue cheese and subbed in ranch instead. The wedge was huge and covered in bacon and the ranch dressing was very good (like Wingstop ranch good). Instead of a wedge, this was more of a 1/3 of a head of lettuce. It was crisp and fresh. It was very good. My wife liked her salad as well stating that it was flavorful and crisp, too. Our server was quick to refill our waters which was nice as he just did it without us ever asking (a great trait, btw). There was another server who was more of an entertainer. He would come into the dining room, dance a little and sing. Woodfire doesn't have entertainment like this; he was just happy to do his thing, and chat with the tables. It was a nice change and made the dinner more enjoyable. We paid our bill (which you can do online via a QR code on the bill) and left and the manager/owner experessed his pleasure in having us join Woodfire that evening and off we went. It's a good place with some decent options which seem to change periodically. Not sure if it's a seasonal change, but it's nice to see. Their pizza is also pretty good. It's a nice neighborhood tavern with good drinks and food. Anda bit of bingo.

The parking lot is enormous, and they have a bar area in addition to a large amount of outdoor seating. Service was quite fast as we were the one of a few tables in the dining area on a Thursday evening. The interior of the dining room fit our needs quite well with plenty of TVs all around and much more comfortable seating than you'd get at a bar. The food here feels a bit pricey, except for the pizzas which area priced very competitively. It's not too crazy compared to other options in the long grove area however and the portion sizes are fair. One of the things to remember too is that some of the ingredients here are a bit more premium and that's reflected in the price. Still, I wish there were a few more choices of value priced items, though the pricing may needed to help support all the events that they run here. With that said, they do run specials on some days of the week that are quite competitive. The food itself is not bad at all. I liked the Texas Twinkles that had a good level of savoriness and wasn't really spicy, but had a good richness and amount of fat to it. It was a little small for $13 but still enjoyable. The Woodfire BBQ Chicken Thin pizza was big enough to feed 4 and was done quite well. It's a bit on the savory side with the applewood bacon and red onion with about the right amount of cilantro and seasonings to balance everything out. It wasn't too salty or sweet, and the amount of mozzarella was just about right. The wagyu brisket platter was also quite good, with meat that was super tender and had a nice crust. I wasn't a huge fan of the cornbread, and found the baked beans and corn to be fine -- but did enjoy their version of the coleslaw. Overall, a solid choice if you're in the Long Grove area and need a spot to have a nice meal with friends. The full menu and comfortable dining room make it a pleasant spot to spend some time at (when they're not too busy).
