From the outside, the building is unasuming and I really only stumbled upon the place from Google maps. The interior is warm and has excellent lighting. Nestled within what seemed to be a hotel area, this coffee shop is definitely worth making a trip to just for the location. Looking for the bathroom was an adventure in itself! Located in an intriguingly unusual spot, it led me on a journey downstairs, into what appeared to be a club of sorts blaring music mid-day. It was definitely entertaining, to say the least. While the beverages weren't anything groundbreaking, they were pleasant. Be warned the matcha is unsweetened, but sweeteners, syrups, and sugar are provided. The place has a charming ambiance, but do note that seating is limited. Overall, the experience of this place is definitely carried by the vibes of the location. Today I ventured to "Paper", a coffee joint inside "Made" which is a hotel. My initial reaction is based on the atmosphere, the wooden chairs, warm tones of lighting, and earthy furbishing made this joint very welcoming. The coffee shop itself opens up into the hotel lobby thus, there is plenty of seating and space. I ordered the chai and the avocado toast. As an avid chai enthusiast, it was great, it had great spice tones, was velvety, left no peculiar aftertaste and overall was a great experience. I give it a 9/10. As I reflect on the avocado toast, the cost does not correspond to the flavor of the dish. Although, I will say the dish was beautiful and the bread was great. If you are someone who enjoys bread quality you will enjoy this toast. However, as someone who looks at dishes holistically, it did not do it for me. The mushrooms are an interesting textural addition to the toast and the egg was made to perfection but, the additional toppings and micro-layer of avocado made me question why I had just spent $15 on avocado toast. I give the toast a 5/10. Additionally, I want to mention the people here and the customer service which was great, everyone is friendly. read more

Stopped by Paper Coffee on a Thursday morning and was surprised at how quaint this coffee shop was. Hidden in a hotel next to a construction site, you can easily miss this place. The ambience has a small, cozy vibe. It's at the lobby of the MADE hotel, but don't let that fool you on your coffee experience. Limited seating and it fills up fast since it's small, but there's more seating in the hotel. I ordered a Caramel Latte and it tasted like a regular latte. Nothing special and it's something that I can get at a ordinary cafe, but it's my go to drink when I'm not sure what I should try. The Barista didn't ask me for a size so I am guessing it's one size only. I was confused when the Barista also asked me if I wanted a non dairy option. They only have one option and it's Oat Milk. They use crushed ice and I prefer having ice cubes so that it doesn't get stuck through the straw lol For food, there were a few bakery items like croissants, cookies, muffins, etc. It's a first come first serve basis so once they are out, the food is gone for the day. I personally didn't grab anything, and it looked a little overpriced for what you get. Overall, this is a great place for a quick coffee fix or if you are staying at the hotel. read more

No Wi-Fi. Everything else was great. Very spacious interior by NYC standards. You can go to the coffee bar out front and order your coffee. Or you can go all the way to the back and get customer service. The waitress was really attentive and my matcha latte turned out amazing. Got an extra shot of matcha, which made it a bit too bitter but highly caffeinated ha. It didn't cost anything extra for the service except for tip. Highly recommend if you're planning on staying here a while. Good touch with the interior decor. Lots of wood and seating arrangements. Restrooms are available downstairs. read more

This is my favorite lounge to relax, work, have a quick coffee, drink or meal. This atmosphere is super chill to relax and work on your computer, or have a chill date with friends. I always find myself coming back here. It's like a hidden Gem in the city. As well as, the employees that work here are super non judgmental and patient. Huh? A sleeper hit! Love this place. The outside is under renovation right now, otherwise the exterior seating would have been GORGEOUS. Wooden panels almost reminiscent of Japan. It's in the lobby of the MADE HOTEL, which has gorgeous branches in major cities. So the interior is very cozy and bougie, with lots of seating and connects to a bar. Service is great and fast. I love that this place opens early and I was able to drop by before my interview. The coffee -- I ordered a breve -- was delicious. I wasn't able to catch what beans they use but it's definitely a high quality roaster. (Later found out it's Devocion which makes perfect sense). Fresh and with no hint of acidity at all. What a cute little find! The wooden interior and surrounding plants give off a warm, friendly appearance to the hotel and cafe. I was a little confused upon entering as I didn't think the lobby of the hotel and the cafe would be directly connected in an open space (they're in the same room), but I quickly got the gist of it. Also, the staff are pretty friendly so don't be afraid to ask questions in case you feel lost. The entrance itself is low key because there is no sign on the building itself, but they have a sign outside by the sidewalk you can't miss. Their menu isn't expansive but they have everything a coffee shop needs: good quality coffee and staff. I always have high hope for coffee in the city but I learned that don't be fool by the photos. The coffee shop is in the lobby of MADE hotel. The place itself is great, very clean, high end and stylish. The barista is just one person trying to take care a line of customers, kudos to him. The atmosphere is great, and I feel safe ordering here during the pandemic. The coffee itself is just ok, a little bit over rostered and the acidity in the aftertaste isn't as clean clean, a little light burn and over smoky that covered the sweetness of the froth milk. However, it's always a bit hard to judge an establishment during this unprecedented time. I will come back and update my review if I later think otherwise. read more

Wow! Great coffee in the Chelsea District. I walked here from my hotel down the block to bring coffee back to my sweetie who was still resting in bed. The atmosphere here is minimalist chic with lots of attention to detail. The coffee was excellent. I ordered two whole fat lattes to go, and they were artfully prepared. I also took two croissants to go, which were buttery and flakey. The lady in front of me wanted to order breakfast about 10 minutes after the cutoff. Came here on a Sunday morning to study with a friend and there were a good amount of empty seats to sit. The place is pretty cute and very aesthetically pleasing! It is located in front of a hotel lobby so it sort of gets distracting and loud with people checking in and out of the hotel. It was also loud from people who were casually chatting and catching with friends but it didn't bother me too much because I had my earbuds on. I ordered the Honeybear Latte for $5.99 (including tax). I thought it was okay! It wasn't sweet, which was perfectly fine for me, although I was expecting it to be sweet because of the name. Nothing too special about it but it wasn't bad either. Staffs are all friendly! I stayed there from 11AM - 5:30PM. The coffee bar closes at 5, and the menu also includes a few food items as well! I got hungry around 3:30pm and ordered fries and a "Way to go Burger" (I think that's what it was called) and both my friend and i devoured it as soon as the server/bartender brought it to us. Food was pretty pricey as it came out to be $34 (including tips) and it was expected because it's located right in a hotel, but my friend and I were both enjoyed the food. The place did get a bit chilly after an hour or 2 there so bring a extra piece of clothing for warmth! Overall had a great experience at Paper coffee! Will definitely come back! read more
