Enjoyed an early dinner with friends - good for kiddos. The French Fries were nice and crispy. The guacamole and chips were good and fun to share. I tried the tacos - you can choose 2. I tried the pato (duck) and hawaiano (ahi tuna) and both were tasty and piled high with toppings. Definitely messy but tasty. The pico de gallo was crunchy and fresh, the red sauce just right spicy, beans were well seasoned and the rice was fluffy and chewy at the same time. I enjoyed every bite. We sat inside because it was a bit windy and chilly but the outdoor seating looked equally comfy if you prefer fresh air dining. The service was excellent. Came by Papito for an early and quick dinner to try their tacos. Party of 1. Walked in, got a seat right away outside on their lovely parklet. Tacos come in orders of two on either crispy or soft tortilla. All served with sour cream. Chips and three salsas also come to the table automatically. I really liked the orange salsa that had a bit of a sweeter flavor. Papitto taco - tempura shrimp, chipotle remoulade, green cabbage slaw, pico de gallo. It was hot out and this sounded like a more refreshing taco. Before the tacos came out, i was questioning the price a little bit as each taco was $8. That's a lot for a taco in my opinion. Once they came out though, I knew why. Tacos were STACKED! Like to the point I couldn't even pick it up without thing falling off. Each taco had three juicy shrimps so 6 shrimps total. Flavors on point. Shrimp was tempura fried well and slaw was crispy for that added bite. The only thing I wasn't a fan of, actually, was the size. It seemed too big and made a huge mess all over the plate that I had to go back in and eat with a fork. This place is awesome. It has one of the (imo) definitive burritos in SF, which comes out wrapped 3-ply with aluminum foil on a ceramic plate. I don't why, but it just screams SF hidden gem vibes. The place is typically very busy and for good reason: their options are vast, their fajitas hot n' steamy, and the burritos bigger than your forearm. I usually stick with steak for my meat of choice, but I also appreciate the short-rib option, as well as duck and some other lesser-seen meats in mexican cuisine. Food was decent but I had a strange experience. They accidentally gave us guacamole (I guess it was intended for another table) and they gave me chicken in my burrito when I asked for steak. When the bill came, they charged me for both the guacamole and the steak (which is more expensive than chicken). The waiter came by and noticed both things but he didn't do anything to fix it. We were in a rush to see a concert so we just paid and left. The food was good though and I actually enjoyed both items. Love this place! Came here for my birthday with some friends, and it was easy to grab a table outside on a Saturday evening though it definitely got busier as the night went on. The waitstaff were very patient with us as we took a long time to order. Occasionally it was tough to get their attention because it was so busy inside, but our food and drinks came out in a timely manner and they were happy to turn on the heater for us outside. We each got a drink (I got a Paloma), we shared ceviche as an appetizer, and I got a Burrito Mojado with carnitas and half red and half green sauce. Paloma: 5/5, the drinks were huge here! The Paloma was refreshing and not too strong. Ceviche: 4/5, the ceviche was pretty good, serving it in a margarita glass made it fairly unwieldy to eat from. Burrito Mojado: 5/5, absolutely the best thing I had. This burrito is HUGE, definitely could get 3 meals out of it. The carnitas were crispy still inside and they don't skimp out on filling. Getting both sauces was also definitely the move -- they were both delicious! Overall, had such a great time. Being outside in our little booth made it feel so cozy but the overall environment is so lively and fun. I love finding good, reasonably priced, casual eateries in SF - that's exactly what Papitos in Potrero Hill is. They give free chips with three salsas of varying spice levels, that all taste great. I have had almost all of the most highly acclaimed burritos in the city but THIS super burrito is the best by FAR. I specifically got the shrimp super burrito. So gooey and soft with lovely cheese and sour cream and guac mixed through out. The tortilla was nicely goldened. This is a great bang for your buck and so so delicious. Their housemade guac is also veryyyy good. I will always be returning here when I am in the mood for a good burrito. Service is also pretty fast! I would recommend that they change up their playlist.. we heard the same song four times during one meal. But, that is an easy fix! read more

I was able to experience this place during a luncheon with my team. Right off the batt...this place hooks up the portions of food(see photos) Their menu is extensive but seems like they got sumthin for everybody Now look...there was alot of us so peeps was ordering drinks and food left and right. For me, i had the super burrito and this thing was huge...packed full of fixins and steak squares. The out of the ordinary for me, the burrito was pressed to crispy. It was tasty and filling. My team seemed to really enjoy their meals...we all were having fun and being loud amongst company and a good meal. The owner was even taking care of folks with tequila shots. Overall, im happy i got to try this place out...i dont really get many oportunities to eat out in the city. Okay a place with great portion sizes in SF??? In drinks AND food???? Sign me up. Came to Papito's on a Friday evening around 8:30 and was easily able to get seated for our group of 5. Ambiance perfect for a comfortable and upbeat dinner!! We got two containers of chips, each with a set of 3 salsas. All of them were very good, none super spicy. We ordered 3 things for a table of 5, and I would say unless you're starving (or really want leftovers, which you do after this food), one dish is enough for two people. The chicken quesadillas were HUGE (4 thick quesadillas, still had one leftover after 2 people ate from it). Me and a friend split the vegetarian fajitas, and it was hands down phenomena. The veggies (consisted of corn, onion, peppers, kale, mushrooms) were seasoned and cooked so well - perfect level of char, garlic, and salt. I've never liked kale so much in my life than in these fajitas... In addition to the steaming veggies, they gave us 8 tortillas (normally comes with 4 I think) + rice/beans, all for $16 (so $8 split between my friend and I minus tip/tax). If you're looking for a smaller bite/snack (or have gotten overly stuffed on chips and salsa), the tacos came out to $6-7/individual! We also ordered the jalapeño margaritas for the table - ask for the pitcher since it wasn't on the menu. The largest size (50 or 60 oz) was $50, and there was plenty to go around (1-2 glasses/person) for just $10/person. The glasses also have a generous amount of Tajin, so what's not to like?? Within an hour, we drank well, ate well, and were served well - def coming back here. One note - there aren't a ton of options for vegan/vegetarian folks, but the fajitas were vegan (and so are margaritas! ha!). Don't expect a lot of extra vegan and veggie dishes but they seem accommodating (ie veggie fajitas not explicitly on the menu but just ask for fajitas without protein). read more

Not sure exactly what, but the chips were flat and salsa was bland. Ice cold Modelo. Can't really mess that up. An order of the veggie tacos and an order of the costillas cortas tacos. Veggie taco was fresh, balanced, and flavorful. Best veggie taco I've had. The costillas cortas, on the other hand, were just okay. From the description, I had expected melt in your mouth beef and a confluence of flavors that would make it rival the veggie taco I had just devoured. It didn't. All good. The interior is very attractive, clean and well laid out. So I didn't have time to sit down, unfortunately so I got my typical to go food at a Mexican/Southwestern restaurant which is a burrito. The hostess who took my order was exceptionally nice and so easy to talk to - she definitely knows how to be an outstanding service person with great interpersonal skillset. I got a steak burrito and as typical with me, I asked for the hottest salsa or sauce they had to be added into the burrito as it's a bit hard to add it to the burrito when driving. I had to get to a location for a photo shoot before sunset or I would have just stayed and eat at the restaurant. So after a just a few bites, I am totally convinced that it is the best burrito in San Francisco. Now I'm a big fan of El Farolito and La Taqueria and they both make excellent burritos - but Papito's burrito is a bit different, it's about twice the price of a burrito of the two other places - but the steak is a much higher quality - it was much more tender - more like a burrito made with filet mignon. However tho the beef in the burrito was just the best - what got me was the taste of the burrito. It is very much a bit higher level of burrito - the better cut of meat elevates it but what really makes it the best is the sauce I asked for. They have an outstanding habanero based sauce that just blew me away. Being habaneros are an extremely hot chile pepper - you might think it would blow away all other flavors in the burrito - but it doesn't. When you first taste it, yes there is some heat but not overwhelming -I have a decent chile tolerance - but you also taste s bit of sweetness and citrus flavors with the habanero salsa. The more of it you eat, the heat does get a bit warmer but it never blows you away -it's just perfect and it has flavors I haven't run into in a burrito in all the hundreds of other burritos I've had before. It was just awesome - very, very tasty - making myself hungry just thinking about it - now have to try some of their other plates.
