I've course always la Pappadeaux's... But this time when I visited with my friend, Jodi, there was kind of a problem... They kept massively over cooking my shrimp on my shrimp and grits. I sent back the first one to ask for new shrimp please I kept my plate, ate the brussels sprouts, which were amazing! They put out the new shrimp and it was just as badly overcooked as the first one. Our waiter was amazing. He was helpful he making suggestions he was just fantastic and the manager Gabriel, was helping me with my shrimp issue... So the third time I was like I'm just gonna not get shrimp here anymore and Gabriel's like no I got you... So he went in the back and cook me shrimp personally, and they gave it to me to go. They were perfect! I can't believe how amazing they were at trying to fix a problem and at how much they dedicated themselves to making sure that we enjoyed our stay. Well I went back to Pappadeaux's and yes here we go again! My cousin came to town and she wanted to go to the famous Pappadeaux's although I was hesitant on going I was like ok. Needless to say nothing has changed. My daughter and I ordered the platter with no crawfish, fry the catfish crispy and extra shrimp but we had to send the food back because it was "COLD" and I ordered my fish extra crispy but that didn't happen it was like they fried it extra soft . We also ordered the spinach and crab dip and it was lukewarm. Needless to say I stopped the manager on duty and I let him know I tried them again and I won't be back to that one. So I guess I'll be driving to Dallas when I want Pappadeaux's. They really need to do better for the prices. read more

Ambiance was typical Pappadeaux, loud and a good time. Food was below average for Pappadeaux. My seafood gumbo was lukewarm and my salad came out after the gumbo. The Service was the worst I've ever had at a Pappadeaux. We had a table of ten, so, a large party. They assigned one server, but it should have been fine since we are pretty easy and the restaurant wasn't busy. It wasn't fine. He got orders wrong. Nothing came out together. What did come out, came out in the wrong order. He never brought fresh bread. He never refilled a single water. It took him 15 minutes to bring out a single dessert and told us they don't have tea; I've had tea at Pappadeaux every year for the past decade, maybe I was the only person ordering it and so they removed it. It was my husband's first time at Pappadeaux and he was blown away by the quality of the food and our amazing server, Shandray! We highly recommend that you ask to sit in her area - she was so attentive and full of great recommendations. My rainbow trout was delicious - rich and decadent! We also really enjoyed the Dirty Dirty drinks! There was a snafu with a side baked potato which Shandray was quick to address and Keanu made right for us. I have never had a bad experience at a Pappadeuxs and considering it is a chain restaurant I really like it. The service was great for a party of 4 of us. We got seated straight away, our drink order was taken and bread brought to our table (which is delicious). I ordered a cocktail which was really nice, a little pricey for the size, but kind of expected. I ordered the Texas red fish ponchartrain as I've never had red fish before. It came with lumps of crab meat, shrimp and dirty rice which I subbed for mashed potato. It was delicious! It was a big portion and I ate almost the whole thing it was so good. My friends had bacon wrapped shrimp and grilled tilapia which they said were also delicious. I've been here previously and had king crab legs with butter which was amazing. I always enjoy coming here and will be back to try something else off of the menu. read more

I love seafood and had only been to a pappadeaux once when i lived in Colorado. This experience was good. My Husband and I were out for a celebration dinner the service was amazing. There was a wait when we got there so we were told to sit in the bar, the booths were all dirty but we weren't there long since our table was ready shortly after being told there was a 30-45 minute wait. We were seated and already knew what we wanted. There were out of a lot of items by the time we got there so that was a little disappointing but still enjoyed our meal. We started with Crispy Fried Alligator, it was amazing and the sauce that goes with it had a little spice to it that was wonderful. We then got our food, my husband ordered the Texas Redfish Pontchartrain, it was good, lots of dirty rice and sauce was amazing with a little zing of fresh lemon. I had the Crispy Atlantic Salmon with sautéed spinach, it was cooked medium rare and wonderful. I didn't realize that when the menu said sea scallop it literally meant one but i was okay, i like mine with a little more of a crisp but for the meal it was okay. The drinks are strong and flavorful since it was a celebration my husband and I each had 2 during our meal. Lastly we asked if they did anything special and were told the kitchen was closed but later saw food still coming out, our waitress got them to fulfill our request and we got a Turtle fudge brown with vanilla ice cream, it was amazing. Love coming here for my seafood fix!! Met some friends for a birthday party and unfortunately we had to wait for almost two hours for our table, but we sat outside under the heaters and had drinks. It was my first time trying the dirty dirty, but it will not be the last. On top of the tropical drink of goodness is a shot of alcohol and I did not realize this. I sipped it down a little too quickly and then had another one which I sipped slower this time. Finally our table was ready and we had a couple of waiters helping us. We were so loud I thought that we were going to get kicked out, but the staff were so patient, kind, and laid back like they see this all the time. They brought out fresh warm bread and we then all ordered. I decided to try their rainbow trout. I asked the waitress which way she would recommend it be prepared and she recommended the lemon and garlic. It was so delicious! The fish was nicely cooked and juicy. There was a side of spinach that was a addition to the fish. Everything just melted in my mouth! I loved the portion size I received compared to the price--it was definitely worth It! I asked for another set of silverware which I never received. Unfortunately they ran out of oysters before we arrived. The sever was all over the place, which is never really the case here. My husband and I arrived right at 12:30 on a game day Sunday (3:30 game) and though told we'd have a 15-25 minute wait, we were literally seated 5 seconds later. Sazerac for me and wine for the mister. The alligator was, TBH, an epiphany. The spicy, silky dipping sauce/butter was an awesome partner for the light & tender gator. Yes, light. Tender. I lived in Florida and have had gator, but never like this. It made me think of amazing calamari versus meh and overcooked calamari. It is insanely tasty, with just enough bracken-water taste to remind you it's seafood. Loved it! While waiting for bread and butter (who doesn't love their bread and butter?!) our mains arrived. Womp-womp. No bread for us. Then my side salad arrived. My softshell crab were on point. Large, perfectly fried, and crave-worthy. Oddly the tartar and cocktail sauces were served in paper cups, while a metal ramekin was used for ketchup for my fries. My man's blackened Mahi w/a garlic herb oil was to DIE for. Neither of us cared for his dirty rice. (I make ours the traditional way with chicken livers and so do they, they're a bit more generous with the livers, tho.) My salad with blue cheese was good but timed oddly imo, as it arrived after my entree arrived. So their service, food, drinks and ambiance were dependable. The lacking bread and butter (all other tables around had theirs) isn't a huge deal. Timing my salad a bit after the entree is ok. Paper condiment cups are ok... Pappadeaux's? I am a fan! This is a great example of traditional NOLA cuisine. From the baked Oysters Baton Rouge to the fondue, they hit it out of the park! The flavors are certainly there. However, the best thing about this place? The customer service. Granted, we sat at the bar for drinks so a lot of people pass by us. But every damn person asked if we were ok or said hello to us. Decorated in the usual dark wood, the interior is very nice. As you peruse the menu, the warm bread and butter arrive. Let the calories begin! Next comes the lump crab and spinach dip. Heaven on a piece of toasted bread. I ordered the plain chicken pasta. Asked for the chicken blackened and the sauce Cajun spicy. No problem! Absolutely delicious. I visited this location for the 1st and last time on 6/14/2024. The service was terrible. After waiting for 7 minutes for anyone to greet me, I flagged down another server who took my order. When my server finally came, he didn't greet me, I had to wait another 5 minutes and ask him for bread. He flopped COLD bread onto the table and left. He served and placed food for other tables but asked someone else to serve mine. It took about 15 minutes for crab cakes and gumbo. The server didn't refill my water NOR ask me if I wanted dessert. After the HORRIBLE server and nasty food. Crab cakes were greasy, gumbo was cold, I requested to speak to manager. The manager got offended because I bad mouth the server. The Manager's name's name was Marco (hispanic guy). I normally frequent the hurst/bedford location and always experience great service and food, this location sucks. The only shining star in my dining experience was Bree, the young black server who was helpful while my server ignored me and the manager made me feel like I was nothing after spending my hard earned money at this location. My waiter Demarco was great. He was very friendly and attentive. For my meal, I ordered the Moroccan Salmon & Shrimp. It was excellent as always. I opted for the dinner entree because the dinner entree includes fresh crabmeat on top, while the lunch entree does not. The salmon was cooked to perfection (as always). Love! Love! Love! This place... It's crawfish season. The crawfish comes with fresh corn and potatoes. So full of flavors and the crawfish size is pretty big. You wouldn't have a problem eating it and getting your shirt dirty because they provide you a bib. Their signature drink is called The Swamp Thing. You have to try it to experienced it. Fruity and cold topped with a pineapple. The desserts is to die for. There's also a dessert trio that has 3 mini desserts if you want a taste a little of different sweets for your pallet.
