This restaurant is huge and also has a parking garage! We were seated promptly but our waiter took forever. He rarely checked up on us. I saw him walk around a few times, and at one point, sat in the back of the restaurant playing on his phone. We had to stop other waiters for help. We were ready to order but our waiter took off after we ordered drinks. He took forever to come back again and I ordered oysters and left before I could order the rest. Finally we ordered everything. We waited around a long time and the oysters came out first. When we were done with it, we had to wait around again for a long time til our entree were brought out. It was a lot of waiting around even for the check. We also weren't asked how our food was. The pasta was kind of undercooked. We're from south Mississippi & frequently travel to New Orleans, so this restaurant gave that ambiance. The flavors were pretty good and I enjoyed the oysters as well. The cocktail sauce was almost perfect. It was missing that kick from the horseradish. The Thai chili sauce was good on the oysters too. Currently sitting in the bar in a booth waiting for the absolute worst service I've ever had to end. It started when we jokingly asked about when happy hour ended and getting a crab cake....just jokes. Apparently it wasn't funny because after we asked 2 different waiters for water or the complimentary bread....the bus boy serves us. He was sweet but seriously. Wtf!!! Don't go here tonight expecting anything but a rowdy crowd. Parking impossible because everyone from nightclub next door is tailgating in the restaurant's parking lot. Lots of alcohol, weed and Lord knows what else going on. We passed one guy sitting in his car flashing cash like a fan, lots of scantily dressed ladies, lots of partying. Never a disappointment with Pappadeaux. This was a Saturday night visit during the dinner rush. Walked in and was told it would be a 35 min wait, I was seated in 10 mins. Waiter was very personable and had me laughing throughout my meal. He was also very help with the menu and offered his personal favorites. I decided to start with the crab cake which was spot on. The textures of this dish makes it special! The outer crust has the perfect crunch followed by the soft inside stuffing. The amount of crab stuffed inside this cake is insane. Next was the Greek salad that is prepared table side. Again the service was amazing as my waiter asked how I wanted my salad. The greens were fresh and the shrimp were cooked just right. Everything went together very well. The main course was the tilapia with lump crab. This piece of fish was cooked perfect. The sauce that is put on top really elevates the flavor profile. As you pull apart the fish you can't help but to rub the fish in it before take a bite. When leaving I asked for a box as I wasn't able to finish the generous portions. My waiter not only boxed everything up for me he also placed a bag of ice inside to keep the fish cold as I had a long drive home. He wanted to make sure it wouldn't go bad on the car ride home. The bartender was absolutely amazing! He can prepare drinks, recommend meals, and has an amazing personality. I hate that I can't remember his name. The ambiance was perfect as always. My food was seasoned and cooked to perfection. It's rare to actually eat and be satisfied at restaurants nowadays, but Pappadeaux didn't disappoint me at all. We were seated upon arrival, but waited 15 minutes for waitress to arrive at table after that service continue to be slow with the bar, losing the ticket for our drinks and the waitress tending to be absent throughout the meal. My dinner companion continued to see her in the foreground, but we saw everyone else's waiters and waitresses around our table, but ours tended to be absent. The crawfish tasted funny as if it wasn't cleaned prior to preparations. I had to ask for water. I never received any flatware or napkins. Even after asking. I received my meal before I received my drink. Which was h2o. It took all of 10 mins to get a refill of water. Which i had to ask for. I had to ask for bread. My husband and I stopped by the restaurant for date night. I was a little reticent about going to a franchise establishment, but the experience did not disappoint. We were greeted kindly by the host group, followed by an enthusiastic and engaging server. The food was amazing, plated well and with huge portions. If I had to critique anything, the red beans and rice were okay, but it did not detract from the overall experience. We topped the meal off with a Key Lime Pie. Pappadeaux has some of the best seafood in Houston Texas, the services exceptional on every way, sitting in front of the lobster bin watching those lobster starved to death, no water pumping through it that's clean, it makes one very very sad! How silly is pickle sorry for these lobsters, but I do, they look like they can't breathe their legs are stretched out across the glass the water that's so dirty that they live in they really need to keep them in the back when nobody can see them. I've been coming to this location for years. We've always loved this place, the food is always delicious and fills us up, and we always end up leaving with leftovers! I ordered Mississippi Catfish Opelousas, and it was probably one of the best dishes I've had at Pappadeaux. Usually I would order the crawfish etoufee, but this probably steals the spot. There was such a large filet of catfish with a flavorful cajun sauce that had lump crab and oysters. The shrimp on top was a little over cooked, but it had a nice seasoning on it. The service was slow, but it was 9pm on a Saturday so it was very busy. Our server was great, super attentive to our order and drinks. The hostesses were also very friendly and quick. We also ordered the Crab and Spinach Dip and the Crispy Alligator, both of those are staple appetizers for my family. Both of them came out hot and perfect as always. I wish I had a picture of them but we were very hungry and ate them! I can say that we will definitely be returning for another family dinner! read more

I decided to visit the restaurant because everyone talks about how great it is. I'm from California and never heard of it unless I'm late but I was glad to visit awhile in Houston TX. I ordered a hurricane which had a lot of Myers in it but it was good. I was given a delicious long loaf of white bread that was flaky, soft and delicious when dipped in butter. I ordered the shrimp po boy with a bowl of gumbo and a side Caesar salad. I enjoyed the Caesar salad and could have aided by itself as a meal but I ordered the shrimp po boy which was interesting because it had tomato spread as a base which I've never had that before, good. But the bread was too thick for me on the po boy and I just took the top bread off the sandwich. The bowl of gumbo Had a good rue and the shrimp was tasty but it was a lot of sausage. Came here Sunday evening for dinner, and within a couple of minutes, I was having regrets. Walking in, I was greeted by... an empty hostess stand. After a minute, another patron walked in, and then another... hrm. And while she did finally make an appearance, the hostess turned her back to us immediately and returned to the customer on the phone, not once looking in our direction or even acknowledging the growing queue. Not a good impression. At this point I am wondering where the manager is, because this is fast becoming a sinking ship. He was out on the patio conversing with someone. The only thing that makes me want to come back is their food. I do love their stuffed crab with a baked potato. It is very hearty but very yummy! I'm not super happy that they took some of my favorites off the menu like the coconut shrimp but I'm getting over it. I decided to order a salad. I forgot the name of it but it had greens, cheese, tomatoes, avocado and honey mustard dressing that I requested. It was supposed to have bacon but I didn't miss it. My friend got shrimp and French fries which looked very good and she enjoyed it. I ordered a creme brulee to go and enjoy while I watch my crime documentaries on the ID channel. Lol. I give this one a solid 4! The food was absolutely delicious! We ate with moderate group that ordered a range of options. Everyone was very pleased with the taste of their dish. We opted for lunch portions, and I'll say they were just right! I've eaten here a couple of times now and each time the food has been really spectacular! Waited to order a drink... waited to order gumbo... had to get bid dude's attention to get bread 80% through my gumbo.... Slow walking, slow talking maybe pay a little attention to the guest... maybe not. While I'm waiting on my bill and watching the ruminants of a prior guest Margarita melt on the bar I make a note to myself to thank my hard working employees tomorrow. This is a great place to go for events. It is a pretty large venue and the decor is really beautiful. A lot of people take pictures by the fountain near the entrance. The servers were nice over all, however our waiter seemed to be very nervous. I ordered a Cat-30 Hurricane cocktail and it was perfectly strong and sweet. I also got fried catfish with red beans and dirty rice. The catfish taste crispy and fresh. The red beans were flavorful, but I added Tabasco for an extra kick. It's a solid restaurant but with all the great choices around, not sure this would be one that I'd come back to again and again. The oysters here are okay - they're on the bigger side, fresh but not particularly fresh/tender. And when fried for an appetizer or entree, it's over fried and more parts are used, so you've got more chewiness than expected. The grilled tilapia though is delicious, with their lemony, buttery sauce. Their cajun rice is a bit salty. For the entrees, the sizes are pretty big, so at least there's that better value. read more

I don't have pictures of our food because it took so long for it to come, but once we got it it was good! I had the sautéed crab fingers and crispy Brussel sprouts....delicious! I use to go to the one on 610 frequently but now I come here. This location is becoming more and more like my previous location. The food is good but don't look for expedient customer service. When you go in ask for Al and thank me later. We stopped by for our anniversary dinner and I was so happy to was our place of choice. The drinks are strong and the food was excellent. We stopped by for a late dinner so me and my husband shared a seafood platter. The kitchen nicely separated it for us and the portion was just right. I recommend getting the catfish. Big fillets and the batter is interesting yet yummy. The complimentary bread they give you is soft and yummy as well. There is not one thing we had that I did not like and the location was beautifully and clean. It is a little on the pricey side but the quality is there. I came to Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen for a friends birthday dinner. I heard positive things about the restaurant in the past, so I was pretty excited for a visit. However, I was extremely disappointed by my experience here. First of all, the food was mediocre and overpriced. I ordered the Sampler Platter on this visit. The fried seafood was so bland and tasteless. Also, the fries at McDonald's are better than the ones here. Even copious amounts of sauce and ketchup couldn't save this disaster. The only redeeming part about the food here was the free garlic bread that they give you at the beginning of the meal. In addition, service was absolutely terrible, it took over 1 hour to bring out the food, and the restaurant wasn't even busy. I don't think I can justify another visit to Pappadeaux after this disastrous meal. The food is mediocre and the service is poor. This review is purely about service, a first for me. I placed a phone order for pick up and was greeted by an employee named Joshua who took my order. He was absolutely fantastic! To begin with, his enthusiasm for his work was conveyed in his voice. He was positive, friendly, knowledgeable, and funny. I couldn't quite decide between two entrees and he went over and beyond to help me customize my meal. I didn't even know if was possible to "customize" a house salad with fried crawfish. But, I did and it was sooooo good. My blackened catfish and crawfish etoufee were scrumptious. Upon arriving to the restaurant, of course he was there. And, meeting him in person matched his phone persona. Seriously, this young man is an example of someone who enjoys the work they do and takes the time to do it well!
