We visited today expressly to try the Snapper Ceviche. We were not disappointed! It was exceptional. Snapper, shrimp, scallops and octopus with avocado in a perfectly balanced lime and whatever bath. The heat from jalapeño's or Serranos was spot on so good. We shared the dish and that proved to be all we wanted for lunch (well, there were chips plus we're old timers). Visited Pappasito's with a group of 10 on a busy Sunday. We had an early dinner reservation at 5:30 PM. The restaurant is large and clean. There is ample parking. They also have outdoor seating. We were seated quickly as we had a reservation. However, it seemed they were short staffed as it took awhile for drinks/chips to be refilled. We weren't too worried about it because we knew they were busy and table conversation was good. My date and I shared the beef & chicken nachos and each got a single cheese enchilada. We also got extra flour tortillas. I know the sign said famous for their fajitas but their tortillas were delish. We also ordered the top shelf margaritas. The food and drinks were very good. We decided to try this place after it was recommended by our Lyft driver for TexMex. We were seated immediately and our server was attentive and friendly. Once we were seated we got water and chips and salsa delivered to our table. The chips were super thin and light but the salsa needed some salt, it didn't have much flavor. There were so many things to choose from but I ended up getting the enchiladas (beef with a meat sauce and shredded chicken with a white sauce) recommended by our server. My son got the beef tacos. I also ordered the queso. This place reminded me of Chevy's when they used to be around with a tortilla maker pumping out tortillas. When our food arrived it was piping hot. My son's tacos were huge! He said they tasted good but they were dripping oil. My enchiladas were pretty good too. I think overall the food was good, just nothing spectacular for me. Went with a party of 19 on a Sunday 5pm reservation. Seated us early and assigned Sol and Yasmine as our servers. All of the food was served hot and fairly quickly for Sunday evening. Both servers were great and interactive with all of our group. I had the Xtapi beef enchiladas, a little spicy but very good. Wife had the chicken quesadillas and they too were delicious. Not sure what all the other people had in our group but no one complained. A little loud in the back room with other large groups but everyone was having a great time. My brother has raved about Pappasito's for years, and has bemoaned the fact that he no longer has it after leaving Texas. That said, the build up was pretty great, so maybe I just had different expectations. Drinks were super good, and the chips and salsa were excellent! I was a little sad about the choices for the gluten free menu, plus for some reason, so many restaurants don't put the prices on the gluten free menu, so that makes it hard to pick! I had the best freaking dinner here last night GEEZ! I eat a ton of Mexican food all the time and don't get me wrong it's not the first time I've ever eaten at Pappasito's by any means but I hadn't been in awhile and the food was just UNUSUALLY DELICIOUS. I did notice that the prices on their beef have went up significantly (Covid I'm sure) but it was still a wonderful experience. Everything down to the queso was downright perfect. Our waiter, Will in the bar area was friendly and efficient. He was wearing his mask properly and following all protocol and I really enjoyed his service. Highly recommend. I forgot to get a picture of the Del Mar which is what we shared but I definitely recommend that as a plate to share between two hungry people. We had leftovers. read more

Easily made a reservation online the day before. Got in quickly, seated on the patio with several water features around. Service was quick with chips and salsa and drinks. Ordered medium queso appetizer and it was more than plenty for 2. I ordered a lunch special called the Sombrero-a beef fajita and a cheese enchilada with rice, beans, pico and guacamole. It was hot and the fajita had great grill taste. My daughter ordered lunch chicken fajitas that came with rice, beans, cheese, tortillas and pico. She was disappointed that the chicken was bland, more like rotisserie chicken than grilled. This is my reason for the 4 star rating. We were checked on several times for chips and drinks and had enough leftovers for 2 boxes. Excellent service and setting however does not make up for chicken that was not 'fajita' grilled. Living out of town we don't often get to go here, so we may have to consider somewhere else next time. read more

We enjoyed our lunch today. We were greeted and seated immediately. Our waitress introduced herself and took our drink order. Chips and salsa followed. We enjoyed the thin crispy chips and the salsa. Extra points for everyone having their own salsa. We order the tamales and then the Poppasitos Grill to share, the recommended the steak medium rare which was perfect. The tamales were very good. See photo for presentation. The presentation of the entree was lovely. The server brought the skewer hanging and removed the meats table side. The beef and chicken were very tender, the shrimp were a large size and tender. The veggies were crisp and tender. The pineapple salsa was SO good. And the bowl of rice was huge. Fresh made Jordynn approved tortillas. The kiddo had a strawberry daiquiri and said it was good. No complaints and perfect for a family and friends meeting place. I met my son there for lunch on a Sunday. The restaurant was busy with a 30 minute wait but we were able to sit in the bar without a wait. The place looked really nice and had some great landscape. There were a lot of waiter/waitress' and plenty of friendly staff. Food didn't come out too quickly but as expected with the crowd. I ordered some sort of chicken burrito with queso. Presentation was really great. It had a good taste, with a hint of smokey flavor. The queso wasn't as expected but was really good and probably more authentic than I'm used to. I really enjoyed my lunch as did my son. If you haven't eaten here, give it a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed. read more

Every Pappasito's Cantina we have been to for the past 30+ years has been excellent. But, this location broke the trend, unfortunately. The food was overloaded with heavy doses of chili powder making it inedible. So much so that it destroyed the taste. One of my favorites is the Papacito's big beef taco. Tonight's taco disintegrated when picked up. It collapsed into an unsavory heap because the crispy shell was literally soaked in grease. Also, our food came out cold in the centers. I ended up having only beans and rice for my supper. This location was horrible. I will not return. read more

My daughter, son and law and myself came to eat dinner there last night 10/26. I'm from Houston & Pappasitios is by far one of my very restaurants. Well my experience there was the very WORST experience I've ever had! Well all sat down and ordered drinks, the waitress ID'd my daughter and son in law (both of age 24 & 21, my daughter had just turned 21 3 days ago and like all newly 21 year old excited to show her ID). The server walked off with both ID's & then the manager (Hispanic young man probably in his late 20's, glasses, taller 5'8"ish) came to the table and said he didn't feel comfortable serving us with these ID's. We then asked what was wrong them. He stated he took them to a book and he didn't feel like they were real. First of all I've never heard that a manager had to look at ID's from another state (that is what the server explained to us) nor have any of us ever experienced our ID's being taken away from the table. I'm also a 10 year restaurant manager & I've never one time been told that is a law or experienced anything like that in my own restaurant experience. I was beyond appalled & sadly I will NEVER return to what was my favorite restaurants!!!! read more

Worst food and service tonight. I had to get out of my chair three times to get them to come to our table: to get my tortillas for my fajitas, get silverware for the dessert and refill out water. They did not bust the table between appetizer, meal and dessert. Shrimp was raw. Ordered beef fajitas and got beef and chicken. Did not refill water and my 91 year-old dad had to drink our water when he chocked on his food. Wrong kind of beans delivered. Even though our waiter appeared to be running around, trying to attend tables, he couldn't do it alone. My son treats me to a restaurant meal every Fathers Day. This is the place I chose today. We passed on the appetizer menu and started our meal with the complimentary chips and salsa. Chips are thin and crispy, just the way I like them. Warm salsa is tasty with a nice touch of heat but could be thicker. For entrees I had the Plato del Padre that comes with a lobster tail, shrimp brochette, beef and chicken fajitas, rice and charro beans. I opted for refried beans. Nick had the Sweet Chili Quail with rice and charro beans. Everything was very good except the rice which was very dry, and the only reason I didn't give them a rating of five. We also had a couple of their Grande Reserva Margaritas. They were great and very potent. Don't drink more than one unless you have a designated driver. Our server, Alisha, was very attentive and personable. Everything is expensive so I can only recommend it for special occasions and suggest you make a reservation because they can get crowded, even on weeknights. read more

Very crowded the Saturday we showed for lunch. Waited 45 minutes for our food to be served. But, when it was served it was hot, fresh and tasted fantastic. If I could give this place a 0 I would but I can't so I HAVE to give it a 1. When we walked in the place reeked of soap and so did our waiter. When we got our chips and salsa the chips tasted like they were sprinkled with soap when we ordered food around 6:45 and we had waited an hour for our food and if we didnt ask a MANGER to check on our food we would've waited much longer. When we were finally served our food they took longer to bring out our main course and had to eat our sides first because we were so hungry from waiting. When we got our main course our waiter was visibly bothered and passive aggressive about us involving her manger. For the rest of our meal the manager was the one serving us and not our designated waiter. We also noticed many other AMERICAN families were served first and given their food first before us even though we were there FIRST. Our waitress stopped by and kind of tossed the chips onto the table then laid down a small dish of salsa. Our group of 20+ had the pleasure of eating here today for lunch. The food was as good as I remember. However, we can't afford to eat here often. Today, though, I'm glad we did. We were fortunate enough to have a server named Jeremy. He was the most polite and kind server I've had in a long time. He was so fast, efficient, and was there just before we needed anything. Jeremy is the type of server I would hope is soon in a position to train many more servers to be just as helpful and hospitable.
