At first everything was okay but after bringing out drinks he suddenly had a nasty attitude. He slammed our plates on the table and when I asked if everything was okay he told me to mind my business. Visited Houston and stopped by on our way back. Great location. Although it was after lunch hour, it was pretty packed indoors and outdoors. Haven't had Pappasito's for about 5 years, so it was a real treat. Our server was super sweet, and the food and drinks arrived quickly. While waiting for our food, we had those thin, light, crispy tortilla chips with sauces. Before we could even ask, someone came by with fresh sauces! That's great service! We ordered mango margaritas, steak fajita quesadillas, steak & chicken fajita combo, chicken enchiladas!! All delicious, of course!! Oh how I miss Texas and Texas hospitality/service!!! My family and I went here last night for my mother's birthday dinner and waited over an hour and a half to be seated. Which I had understanding for since it's a Friday night and they're usually quite busy. My husband asked the host how much longer we would be waiting to be seated and she told him they were waiting on the large round table behind her that already paid and they were just waiting for them to leave. We so happen to be able to see that table from where we are waiting in the outside patio area. We are also sitting across from another large party of 8 that put their number in for a table after us. Anyways over 15 minutes pass and the people at that large table do not leave, in fact their sever brings out a birthday cake. So at that point I know they're not leaving anytime soon. And then the large party waiting across from us get seated before us even though we were there first, and I even personally asked someone from that large party if they had a reservation and they did not, which I knew because I saw them put their number in for a table after I did. So I go and speak to the host and she immediately has an attitude and tells me I can speak to a manager. The manager comes over and proceeds to tell me that it's busy tonight (which I know) and that there's no tables available except a table on the outside patio and there's nothing he can do. I asked him why the large party that checked in after us was seated before us and he told me they had a reservation.. and when I told him I know for a fact they didn't that I saw them check in after me and asked them if they had a reservation, in response they said they did not.. he smiled and didn't have anything to say because we both knew he just lied. Anyways I just wanted to be seated at that point. It was about another 15 minutes before we were seated, making it an hour and a half of waiting with multiple small children. When we get to our table they are still cleaning it off and there's no high chairs.. we have to go get and find our own high chairs, despite me telling the host when checking in we needed two high chairs for our table. While waiting for them to clean off the table we also asked the other host that brought us to the table and she did not go and get them herself or ask anyone to get them for us.. so we got them ourselves so we could finally sit down and enjoy our dinner for my mother's birthday. Overall a bad experience with the hosting staff and lead manager that night, which I've never had before at this particular location. The host at the front desk was rude and the manager just smiled and made excuses for his staff.. and he also didn't come by to check on our table or ask how our experience was going after we were finally seated (which most managers do) when you have a complaint. All of that to say we did enjoy our dinner and our server was amazing and very sweet and helpful. read more

Hubby and I went after not having been there in at least 7 years. Excellent just like I remember. Started out with the good old stand by of cups and salsa. Their salsa is still some of the best I have had. I had a Combo plate with a Beef Taco that was huge, a Cheese Enchilada, 3 Shrimp Brochette wrapped with Bacon and a huge order of rice. Everything was perfect. Only complaint was the bacon was almost all fat. Other than that the food was wonderful and plentiful. Hubby had Shrimp Diablo. Spicy and plentiful as well. 5 stars for finger-licking food and service. Pappasito's was my first stop after stepping out of the airport. I was very pleased with the decor and open floor plan of this restaurant. Our server Taylor was amazing. After much deliberation, we ordered all the star items in their menu. They also provided us with complimentary chips and salsa while waiting for our food. * hatch chili queso (limited time): Omg, So good! just enough spice to tantalize your taste buds. * Quail: just wow! By far the best thing I ate there. Loved the seasoning with a hint of sweetness. I could just eat a plate of those now. * crab stuffed shrimp: they don't skimp on the crabmeat. It was well thought of dish. * Sausage: cheese stuffed, had little kick from the chillies. Wasn't my favorite, little salty for my taste. * lamb chops: very good, nice sear on the meat. * Carjetas: ice cream rolled in roasted coconut and nuts, swimming in rich caramel sauce. It was soo decadent and sweet, i couldn't finish it. * Tres Leche cake: This was good, moist (yes moist). Definitely the best way to end a great meal at Pappasitos. They were incredible from our waiter and waitress to our food. Our waitstaff took care of us with great attention from start to finish. Our shrimp brochette and chicken fajitas were so good and cooked to perfection. The only negative was that we both order food that came with tortillas but they only brought out one serving of three and wanted to charge for extras. I hate gift cards but I had one to use and tonight was the night, it was a year old so... anyhow they couldn't get their system to work to read the gift card and instead of asking questions or asking for other forms of payment they honored it. I like the fajitas, they are delicious. The burrito is good too. I always get the fresh avocado dip. It's the best I've ever had and I'm very picky. I'd rather have authentic Mexican food, so my husband and I only go here when we want fajitas. The chips are good. Salsa is not hot enough for me. I don't care for it. They do make homemade flour tortillas, which are good. I like corn tortillas. This is your basic TexMex expensive Mexican food. I would actually suggest you go elsewhere for Mexican food due to the price. If you're wanting fajitas I would recommend at least trying this place out. read more

Last night my son and son in law took me and my wife out to dinner. My wife and eye ordered the Cane Asada Enchiladas and when they brought out our dishes i tasted Chicken. I called the waiter over and he stated it was one chicken and one beef. Carne Asada is grilled Flank Steak not chicken. They charged 29.00 per dish. I was not happy. When i opened up the Enchilada the steak pieces were 1/4 inch pieces and about 10 pieces and so was the chicken. With rice and beans they had about 5 dollars of product. I have been going there since they opened and will not return. How can they sleep at night with how they treat customers with such high prices and no bank for your buck. read more

Why 5 stars? Because the chips and fajitas are still supreme. --- --- --- My wife and I grew up in Houston and if there's one thing we share in life, it's an undying love for Tex-Mex. And there are two things that are required with Tex-Mex: 1) Chips & Queso 2) Beef Fajita Meat Pappasito's absolutely has my favorite chips out of all the Houston Tex-Mex staples. They are razor thin, and after you douse them in salt, they are the most addicting substance on Earth. I dare you to come here and try to just eat a few, and then abruptly stop. The knock here is that their queso is average. It's not terrible - nothing with those chips *could* be, but it's just unmemorable. I wish they offered a white queso option. But the beef fajita meat is just... the best. It's undeniable. I tried to fight it and find newer, trendier joints in Houston that did it even better, but no one does. As soon as a string of that meat hits my lips, it's like every amazing childhood memory comes rushing back into my head as a moment of ecstasy. Something I don't remember from childhood is the garlic butter called Mantequilla. Whatever that stuff is, I'm not sure if it's the sweat of Jesus or the tears of Lucifer, but I'm willing to sell my soul to the highest religion bidder to earn a lifetime supply of that. When paired with beef fajita meat, it's so delicious, it almost makes me mad. Pappasito's: you win. So I felt like eating nachos today so I asked my husband can we get out and go eat some nachos and of course he was sure babe let's go. I wanted to go to another Mexican restaurant but suddenly decided on Pappasito's because I've never been and it's like 10 minutes away and it was a half star better than the other one. We get there and it was about a 10 minute wait, we then proceeded to our table our waiter Michael was great he was very informative of the menu he was patient with us and for that I was grateful. We ordered the spicy ribs for our appetizer which was very good with a hint of spice to it it was hot but not overly seasoned. I ordered the fruit flavored margarita ( Mango ) it's safe to say I left the restaurant tipsy and I didn't finish the drink so they're definitely not stingy with their alcohol. For my entree I ordered the Camarones Tijuana with beef fajitas it was more than plenty I had so much leftovers to bring home. And last but not least the sweetness I ordered the homemade Tres Leches OMG the best EVER!!! I have ordered and purchased several Tres Leches and none of them compared to pappasito's. It was extremely moist and milky not dry like some and the meringue was scrumptious also. What a fun place with excellent food, drinks & service. The place was busy on a Sunday afternoon. It's a pretty big place so the wait for a table for 2 was only 15 minutes. My husband was starving so we asked if the bar area had a wait. There is no wait for any of the tables near the bar area with the barstools and no wait for seating at the bar. We saw a couple of empty seats at the bar and decided to eat there. The full menu is available. We're so glad we did because we had the most amazing margaritas on the rocks with salt made by an excellent and knowledgeable bartender, Justin. He introduced us to Siete Leguas Plata tequila. It's so smooth and less expensive than the more popular brands like Patron. The food was amazing. From the complimentary chips and fresh made salsa to the appetizer, main dish and dessert. We opted for the ceviche as the appetizer. It was fresh and so flavorful. Our main dish was the Matamoros. It's big enough to share, so we did. It comes with chicken fajitas or you can do both beef and chicken for an extra charge. We did both. It also comes with sweet & spicy fall off the bone ribs. My husband was so impressed with how tender, juicy & flavorful the ribs were. I'm not a rib eater and I have to agree. They were fantastic. The fajitas also came with rice, beans, fresh homemade made guacamole, pico and their in house made tortillas. Delicious! We shared and still had leftovers. For dessert, Justin sold us on one of their new desserts. Dulce de Leche Chocolate Pecan Pie. We were stuffed but we just had to try it. So, we got it to go. Justin was so sweet and had his manager Jonathan comp the dessert. What a nice and unexpected treat! We can't wait to come back. It's such a fun atmosphere. When it comes to Tex-Mex, Pappasito's does it right. The portions are large. Many of the dishes are large enough to split. The fajitas are delicious. The beef fajitas are probably some of my favorite. Usually, they are cooked medium. Just know, sides that are NOT listed as a side cost extra. If you say, "Can you bring that with X?" The server will gladly do it but not tell you it's extra. The chips and salsa are served warm which makes it even better. Wonderful!! I use them often for to-go orders. They have fajita packs and fiesta packs that will feed a pre-specified number of people. It makes ordering easy when feeding groups. Allow 15 minutes extra for your pick-up time. They ALWAYS run behind. If you want it at noon, tell them 11:45. Consider yourself warned. The waitstaff is always good. It seems Pappa's restaurants always have top-notch wait staff. Pappasito's is not cheap, but we had an excellent experience when we visited over a holiday weekend. It was awesome to be seated right away, and the loud, boisterous atmosphere cheered up my family. Service was very friendly and super fast, even on a busy Friday night. Everyone loved the food, and we had plenty of leftovers to bring home. I ordered the #3 family meal platter and I wasn't impressed. For a $120 meal for 2-3 i was expect a lot more flavor but the chicken was pretty dry and there's wasn't much flavor all around. The lamb was very tasty but it was a very little chop. The service was amazing, my server, Jordan, was very polite and was easy to talk to and made us feel welcomed. Shrimp was a little salty but it's okay. Overall i'll give it 3/5 but i most likely won't be returning. The value for food and flavor wasnt worth it to me. Hope you guys like it more!! read more

I am so surprised to see any negative reviews for this place at all. It was our first time eating here while traveling through the area from out of state. Our waiter (Noah) provided the most exceptional service we ever had, as well as his manager. They were both so pleasant and they even gave us a complimentary appetizer of our choice!! The food was AMAZING and some of the best we've ever had! And we eat Mexican food several times a week and have lived in several states where Mexican food was very prominent. Maybe a little bit pricey, but the portions are HUGE! I got the lunch portion Pappas Grill and my husband got the enchiladas and we still couldn't finish it! The chips and salsa were also amazing! Warm salsa perfectly spiced along with the largest bowl of chips I've ever seen! We are relocating to the area and can't wait to eat at Pappsitos again. Visiting the Houston area we were encouraged to come here with some family members and were initially impressed with the size and ambiance of the restaurant. It was a Friday afternoon and we must have snuck in right before the rush because we were seated immediately and greeted by a server within a few minutes of being seated. (although, to be fair, even though there was a steady stream of patrons, it didn't look like anyone was stacked up at the front door - like I said, it's a huge place that can seat 500+ people. although it didn't feel like it). One of our party (my wife) has a shellfish allergy and when we informed the server she went to get the kitchen manager to make sure we had accurate information as to what we could order. Further, none of the party, except me, like their food spicy so the kitchen specially made the guac w/o any spicy in it just for them. Long story short, I was impressed by the flavor of the food and the quality of the service. Such a welcome and pleasant surprise these days, and not an anomaly at this place since our family members brought us here after a similar previous experience. Big 5 stars in my book. read more
