If I could have given them a zero, I would have. This place is horrible. I am a local and went in for my first and last time last weekend. The women behind the counter was terribly rude to my mother and I. She was so rude that, I was thankful my sweet (older) mother didn't hear her snarky comments. The women was not just rude but, she started grabbing the muffins we ordered with her hands (no gloves and probably not washed) and tossing them into a container, the whole time muttering how backed up they were. She kept yelling at the other employees so much so, it was uncomfortable. Come to find out, she's the owner! Never ever again will I step foot in this poorly run business, with a horrible owner, that is unsanitary, and put money in her pocket. Do yourself a favor, go to Publix for bagels, at least you know it's clean. read more

My wife and I ventured here for breakfast after we discovered another place did not offer any hot breakfast items. There are a few tables outside, which is a bonus for us because we like to dine el fresco when the weather is nice, especially on vacation. My wife had bacon, eggs and toast while I ordered the CranWalnut pancakes. The food was very good. My wife commented how her eggs were perfectly prepared and seasoned to her liking (usually she has to add pepper or ketchup). She also had a nice amount of thin, crispy bacon. My pancakes were very flavorful and filling. The nice surprise was both plates had half a sliced banana and a sliced strawberry - something fresh and unexpected, since it was not mentioned in the menu but a pleasant touch (it is the small things that make a difference). I think each of our meals was $6 so a good value. They also offer omelets, waffles, an egg sandwich and oatmeal. There were large muffins that were freshly baked that looked wonderful but we passed on them this visit. The inside is very nicely decorated and welcoming, especially the side with all dining tables. I believe it is owned by a husband a wife team (Robert and Casey) who took our order (which you make at the counter) and cooked the meals. They were very friendly and made sure we enjoyed everything. In fact, Robert brought us a plate with 4 Hungarian foldover cookies and said they were on the house for first timers. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area. Why go to a corporate chain restaurant when you can support nice, locally owned independent cafes like this? read more

Recently moved here from the East coast and wanted a nice warm fresh bagel to take to the beach. Figured a place called Paradise Bagels should have exactly what I'm needing. Wrong. Ordered 4 bagels to go and it came to 5 dollars. Ok, kinda pricy but they must be worth it right? Nope. Got to beach and noticed that the bagels were very cold - possibly frozen and soggy on some parts. Couldn't even eat them. Could've bought a bag of frozen bagels AND cream cheese for that price at Publix and it would've probably tasted better. And the employees were not friendly. Very disappointed. I ordered the omelette and a bagel and the meal was very bland. We took six bagels to go and when we got home we found 3 of them were covered in mold. Now I am questioning whether the bagel I ate that morning had mold on it. The bathroom were filthy and not kid friendly. My wife had to change our baby on a chair at the back of the restaurant because of this. Visited Anna Maria Island with family for a long weekend. Passed this little cafe in this plaza several times before deciding to stop in. So sad we didn't go sooner! It was sooooo delicious! After reading through the comments, two observations come to mind. First, for those of us who return year after year to Anna Maria Island, this cafe is one place that doesn't pretend to be anything but what it is...an authentic old Florida eatery with good, fresh food, prepared to your specs, served in a worn, homey atmosphere by people, who, with warts and all, give up their Christmas morning at home to give visitors a place to gather with others. Such a sweet little family cafe nestled in the shopping center. She made the club sandwich a custom size for my 7 year old, and it's delicious! Very nice fresh ingredients. They've been around for 20 years, and if they were anything but exceptional, this place would not have lasted that long. The decor could be updated, but it's clean, and comfortable. Jackie's Spaghetti Night is Delicious and a Great Deal: My husband, toddler, and I had to try this after it was highly recommended by a friend. We went during low season and were a little hesitant to bring a sometimes restless toddler. Jackie (the cook) and Casey (our server) could not have been friendlier and more accommodating. I had just recovered after several days of the stomach flu and definitely brought my appetite for comfort food. My husband had the four-cheese macaroni and I had the angel hair and meatballs with marinara sauce. You cannot beat $13.95 for yummy garlic bread, Greek salad, pasta and 2 glasses of wine/beer was a great deal--very generous homemade portions. The staff couldn't have been lovelier--They even made a little smiley face dessert out of two cherries, whipped cream and a slided banana for my fussy 20-month-old, which made her smile. A couple of days later, my husband went over and brought back some omlettes, muffins, and bagels. Also very good. When we come back, this wil be at the top of the list. It's in a weird little strip mall by Walgreens (I hear it's a new location), but has a very homey, cozy feel to it. read more

My family has been coming to this island since before it became a tourist spot. My dad was 17 when my grandparents bought the apartment and now he's 56! My family and I come to this cafe every summer. It is such a family spot and you feel like you are in your home kitchen when you are here. The staff is wonderful.. but more than anything we salivate at the thought of these bagel sandwiches and blueberry muffins all year. This breakfast spot is what we look forward to most. We make sure to tell everyone who comes to visit to get breakfast here. Make sure you go early because everything is made fresh! So when it's gone... it's gone! First, as other has pointed out --- keep the political opinions out of your restaurant. I did not appreciate political figurine, pics nor Fox & Friends blaring on the tv through my breakfast! For this reason, I am unlikely to return! The meal, Ok. Husband liked his huge breakfast bagel - nothing exceptional. My eggs were barely cooked with no (or very little) seasoning. Nice large slice of ham was good. Service was very indifferent -- if you walked up to them they served you, but nothing special. I would not categorize any of the help as friendly, only efficient. Stopped in this morning to pick up 6 bagels to take home. The first thing the server told me was that I could get 6 bagels but I couldn't get more than 4 of one kind....ok. Anyway, I purchased my food and left. I got home and sliced my sesame seed bagel and rather than it being chewy and dense it was fluffy and airy, not like a bagel should be in my opinion. I felt like I had ordered a bun not a bagel. The ones I got at Publix a few days before were much better! read more

This was not the BEST place around for sure. With peach's next door though its hard to compete. The bagels are not very good. In fact it was more like bread than a bagel. The only thing that saved this from being a one, was the friendly staff. They were very pleasant and friendly for that they earned an extra star. Take the advice of others and go to peach's.. The food here is excellent! The service was very friendly. It's a small restaurant so don't expect to bring large items like a wagon...there are directions on how to order at the front so it's easy to pick up on. We went with another couple. Upon entering we saw 2 women behind the counter and no customers. I'm sure we looked lost waiting on a greeting as we were trying to figure out if we should sit down or wait to be seated. As it turns out you walk up a few steps and order at the counter We are muffin lovers so we both ordered blueberry muffins. $6.00 for 2. It looked like big blueberries and very yummy! Sadly- just the opposite. No blueberry taste and just a yucky glob of dough. The lady walked past us a few times and never said a word to us. How is it? etc. At checkout the same thing. Never asked how was it just take the money without a smile or word. I did say- surprised that we are both muffin lovers and did not enjoy or eat our muffins. Wow, rude people run this place! We came in with our 15month old son in a little wagon and they immediately made us feel unwelcome by giving us strange looks and saying "random" loudly when they saw his wagon, which caused everyone in the place to stare at us and I felt very awkward. Then some man gave us a lecture on how you do things at this restaurant. There's an unspoken etiquette for eating here which involves not asking any questions and sitting and waiting for your food, and serving yourself drinks. My bagels were at best frozen possibly Lenders??? I was lied to by counter girl who said we make the here everyday.. These were terrible! I rarely submit negative reviews, however after visiting this cafe for the third time I thought it would be helpful to provide feedback. The quality of the food is a three - when you order a breakfast sandwich they don't toast the bagel. Perhaps this is my mistake, but would of expected that to be a question to the consumer. The bagel was inedible and after spending 18 dollars on two bagels plus a 1/4 of a banana and a strawberry it was disappointing. More of a concern is the service. I have yet to deal with someone pleasant. The woman at the register actually said to a customer " Are you here to pay or to talk" The elderly gentleman was speaking with another employee. On all three occasions the person taking the order was unfriendly, uninterested, and left you with the impression that you were bothering them. As I walked out another woman was speaking to her husband telling him how poorly she was treated. I can only ascertain that the reason this cafe is busy is because it is filled with people on vacation, that have not visited prior. I will not be returning and would encourage others to go to subway which is down a couple doors. read more

This cafe is the greatest place to get brunch. They have a nice variety of food and their BLTs absolutely amazing. The owner, Jackie, had been running the place for years now. I grew up on Anna Maria and my grandmother actually worked there, so I've spent a lot of time eating and hanging out there. It's a really great place to get food and great hospitality. read more
