Paradise Dynasty brings an alternative option to DTF across the street (note - Gallaria parking is free, street parking is 2 hour free, but Americana will run you at least $5). What makes Paradise Dynasty unique is its globally flavored xlb followed by its radish pastry. The colorful xlb is a fun thing to do but flavor it worth the hype. Some are pretty good, some one is good but you wouldn't want a batch, and some are pretty rough to eat (esp that bbq pork one. The traditional xlb is solid though - good wrapping and lots of soup filling. Radish pastry was pretty good texture and fine flavor Spicy wontons were decent but lacks a bit of flavor vs DTF Other standouts are the regular wonton soup and the green beans. Love that they opened a Paradise Dynasty closer to home and at the Glendale Galleria/Americana. Their Xiao Long Baos are among the best I've eaten - silky texture, kurobata pork, filled with soup and doesn't break apart easy when picking it up. Today we had their pork stir fried noodles, garlic french string beans, original pork dumpling, bbq pork dumpling, and their limited time special Birria dumpling. My least favorite was the BBQ pork dumpling because it did not taste like char siu bao bbq which was what I was anticipating. Tasted more like American BBQ. Save yourself the trip and go to DTF. Their multicolored xlb are great for the pictures and that's about it. They give you a little cute placard that tells you to eat the shelling bow in a specific order, except the joke is that each bite gets progressively worse in flavor. The first one starts with original, which is fine, then move onto garlic, which is just very garlicky and OK, then clockwise it moves to cheese, which taste like single Kraft cheese, wrapped in dough, which is slightly disgusting, but bearable, and then you move onto worse and worse flavors, all wrapped in a piece of dough as if that makes it better. By the last half of the circle I was spitting out pieces into my napkin and the second to last one so disgusting. I had to run to the bathroom. Their sweet dishes, such as the shrimp and walnut dish tends to lean on the heavier sweet end, so I would prefer the panda express version of the dish. However, I will say the highlight of the meal is their cold tofu appetizer. That was phenomenal and I would definitely eat just that. I would skip dessert all together it was not that great. the salted egg yolk custard was actually disgusting but the panda buns were alright. their tasting platter for the different flavors was interesting but honestly half of the flavors were not that great. the cheese one was the one that surprised me that one was delicious. the crab one was vile and so was the pulled pork one. on the other hand, i only have good things to say about the service here. our waiter was funny, hospitable, and attentive. super cool person. Two words, rainbow dumplings! Ever since these colorful Xiao long baos made it on to my social media feed, I have been so curious to try the dumpling flight for ages! Unfortunately, the nearest location was in the OC by Costa Mesa. Luckily, they are now open at the Glendale Galleria! I took my family and we celebrated and indulged in a delicious feast! The vibes are nice; they have a little bar area towards the back, and there's a large window where you can watch the chefs make xlb in the kitchen. However, the space itself felt uninspired - it honestly looked like they simply took over Din Tai Fung's old location without adding anything special or unique to make it feel like Paradise Dynasty. Even though we had reservations for 4:30, we still waited about 20-25 minutes to be seated. We were told they were down a server, which already set the tone for the rest of the night. Service issues continued throughout the meal. I ordered a Lychee Kiss cocktail, but it never arrived. After our food came out, we asked the server about it - he said he'd check with the bar and never came back with an update. Fast forward to the end of the meal... the drink was still on the bill. We had to point it out again, at which point he said it was "probably ready at the bar" and removed it. No explanation, no apology, no comp - nothing. It was extremely frustrating. And then... the final straw: they ran out of hot chili oil. The server told us this casually, leaving us with just plain oil. How does a dumpling restaurant run out of chili oil? This alone was shocking. The food itself was okay, but with all the service issues and delays, it honestly made everything less enjoyable. A big downgrade from Costa Mesa was also the menu. The Costa Mesa location had photos for each dish, which made ordering easy and exciting. Here, there were no photos on the menu, and you had to scan a link to see them -- very inconvenient, especially for first-time diners. Shortly after Din Tai Fung left their space in the Americana, signage appeared that Paradise Dynasty was going to open in the same space. The photos of colorful dumplings signaled a new concept and had me anxious for it to open. I've been watching the construction and was excited to see the walls coming down recently, a sign that their opening was imminent. Then, while headed to dinner nearby, we noticed it was open. We popped by to check it out and found out that they were in a soft open phase. So we switched our plans and chose to dine with them instead. We were warmly greeted and seated within 5 minutes. While perusing the menus, our server, Shawn, stopped by to check in. Shawn skillfully led us through the menu and then headed off to get our beverages while we decided what to order. When our drinks were delivered, we placed our order. We chose to each try the Xiao Long Bao sampler, an order of Prawn & Kurobota Pork Wontons in Chile Oil, and an order of Stir Fried Green Beans with Pork. Our cocktails were quite good, though a little light on the booze. One was a twist on a Mojito and the other was similar to a tiki drink. Then came our Xiao Long Bao. The steamer baskets contained 8 dumplings, each one a different color containing a specific filling. We were given a tasting guide showing the fillings as well as the recommended order in which to eat them, from mild to bold. The first one was a traditional Xiao Long Bao and it did not disappoint. But from that point on, things got weird. Fillings such as Cheese, BBQ Pulled Pork and Kimchi did not work for me. First off, cheese is virtually unheard of in Asian cooking. Second, I don't go to a dumpling house seeking pulled pork or kimchi. The entire array of dumplings came across as an unnecessary gimmick to draw people in. I was not impressed. Our other two dishes arrived shortly after. The prawn and pork dumplings were decent and the chile oil sauce was just okay, though I certainly appreciated the tingle on my lips from the pepper. The green beans were also decent, if a little over cooked. There was a good amount of ground pork and fermented vegetables which added a nice punch of flavor. Bottom line, their menu is a bit pedestrian compared to Dinner Tai Fung though the pricing is similar. The food was good but not exceptional. Wow... the food was not it. There was no wow factor. My gf and I came at 12 ish on a Thursday. And the place was empty to my surprise. The guy didn't even have chili oil but some how he found three. I'm really disappointed in the quality of the dumplings considering the price. They were lacking flavor. My soup dumpling were already mushy when I bit into them. We sure have been waiting a long time for this space to flip and last night, as we walked by to go to the movies at the Americana we saw they were doing a soft opening. We ended up ordering the cucumbers, green beans vegan style, vegetarian dumplings, and vegan noodles. All were good but boy oh boy, did I wish I had the vegan noodles to myself! The broth and noodles were so good! Hubby and I ordered the 8 different colored bao (I especially liked the garlic and shezuan flavored boa). Hubs liked the bbq one a lot. Those bao were really delicious, I loved savoring the juice from each! We also got the fried pork chop and two fried pork buns. The food came fast and we shared family style, although my kid dominated the vegan noodles, as those were very very good. Overall, the experience was pleasant, fast and tasty! The atmosphere is upscale and modern. I felt a little frumpy in my Jean shorts but they still treated me very nice. Looking forward to coming back to try the boba drinks, more noodles, dumplings and dessert. We had too much movie popcorn to try dessert. We've been waiting for this restaurant since 2023 because of its worldwide popularity and it's definitely worth the wait! The food was excellently prepared and presented. The bold flavors made the experience all the worth while. The special Xiao Long Bao with various colors were pleasing to the eyes. The different flavors of the specialty were throughly thought out. The Xiao Long Bao were filled with unique flavors and insanely delicious, so we ordered another one. Each and every dish were carefully crafted especially the Panda Chocolate Bao. The pandas on the Bao are so cute and certainly worth ordering. The service was impeccable and the staff was energetic. Our server, Ellan, knew each dish well and described each one with confidence. She gave opinion when we asked for recommendations. Professional and friendly and we like her a lot. The other ones who assisted us were also attentive with smiles on their faces. It's great to dine in places that exudes joy and can make your day more beautiful. The ambience and the decorations created a gratifying background. The seating areas are spaced out perfectly. We dined in there yesterday, during a soft launch, and can't wait for the grand opening. I've been to this location a dozen times. It never disappoints & is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in SoCal. Absolutely delicious, with wonderful service - especially from Natalie, Bryan and Kevin, who are incredibly kind and attentive. Avoid the long lines at the other XLB spot nearby, and come here instead, with no wait! As of this writing, they don't validate parking at the Americana, but you can park for free at the Galleria (shhh!), or on residential streets & walk 2 blocks. The best deal in town is their weekday happy hour. 50% off xiao long bao (XLB), dim sum, appetizers, fried rice, and stir-fried noodles (but not the soup noodle dishes), Monday-Friday, 2:30pm - 5pm. That's right, 50% off and as of today, it's never crowded! It's the city's best kept secret. I highly recommend: Signature Pork XLB, Crab XLB, Radish Pastry (a really special dim sum), Pan-fried Shanghai Kurobuta Pork Bun, any Wontons in Chili Oil (the hint of mala spice is sooo good), Fried Pork Chop (appetizer), Chilled Tofu in Soy Sauce Vinaigrette with Crispy Onion (seriously delicious!), Crispy Vegetable Spring Roll, Shrimp Fried Rice. Came here for an office lunch, thinking this place would be a great alternative to Din Tai Fung. I was sadly mistaken. Paradise Dynasty doesn't have bad food, but for an average sized dish with average flavor, the prices are definitely not justified by the dishes. We had the rainbow dumplings, green bean, kung pao chicken, fried porkchop fried rice, pork buns and the rice cake stir fry. All of the dishes were small, like just enough for a party of 6 to get a taste of each dish. The service was good and the space is definitely beautiful but the food doesn't live up to the service and vibes. They also do not validate for parking, so definitely stop by somewhere that does if you are planning to dine here. TLDR: if there is a long wait at Din Tai Fung, this is not a bad alternative, but definitely don't decide between the two. They're close enough for you to make the better decision. read more

We went with a group of 10 people for a weekday lunch to get their happy hour special. A lot of their items are 50% for the happy hour which is worth your money. The XLBs are delicious especially the Garlic and Truffle ones. Service was really good but the restaurant didn't have too many people inside at that time. 3.5/5 If you read the reviews, it seems like everyone is naming servers repeatedly. Is there an incentive for 5-star reviews? Anyway, let's get into the real unbiased review. I've tried both the SCP and the Americana locations by now. Round 1: There are chili oil, ginger, vinegar, and soy sauce sets provided at the table. While pouring out our vinegar, a gnat poured out with ours. Their popular variety of xlb - 50/50 on this one because half of them were actually good. One stood out the most though (but not in a good way), which was the bbq pork. Overall, I'd order it again, I will just give the bbq pork to someone else. Hot and sour soup - 5/5 Actually liked this one a lot. The flavor was nice and the consistency remained thick the whole time. The "sour" part wasn't overpowering. Prawn/Pork Wontons - 1/5 not for me but this is a personal preference. The peppercorn taste was not it for me. The peppercorn numbs your tongue a bit and alters the flavor of the dish. Round 2: Chilled Tofu with Soy Sauce - 5/5 This was probably my favorite dish of the night. Was a bit confused why the appetizer came in the second round of food but not first? I tasted some soy sauce and sesame and the garnishes matched the dish well. Fried rice - 4/5 Chicken was a little dry but the flavor was good. It was savory and not too oily. The portion was quite small. Sweet and Sour Fish - (-5/5) Had to return this dish because why did it taste like a whole bottle of ketchup was poured on top of it? Dessert: Chilled red bean glutinous rice - (0/5) I was the most excited about this one because the one in SCP was sooooo good. It was soft and melted in your mouth. The one I was served here tasted like it was days old leftovers. It was hard and stale at the same time. Drink: it was a mocktail. I don't remember the name but it just tasted like a glorified lemonade. Not bad though! Overall, I'd go back again when they're settled but it will not be the first choice. They are also still in soft opening so the back half of the restaurant is filled with unorganized boxes. Seating is not as quick yet, which is understandable as they are still learning. Server was nice. The seating was nice but a little too close for comfort. The lady next to us started having conversations with us because we might as well be seated in the same table. OH!
