We went out for birthday dinner last night, the good is great which the 2 stars are for. But the service is really bad, for an expensive dinner that why I have to write this review. We sat outdoor so it is cold, which I have no complain since the covid situation, but the food in total takes almost 2 hours to come out, and with no explanation why it takes so long. I would appreciate someone to check in during that time to explain if there is not enough man power or something but none of that, and we just sat there as being ignored. So it takes total of 2.5 hours to finish the whole dinner without a dessert. At the end, the people their explain that we cannot eat the cake at the table, which is fine and we asked for some plastic fork so we can bring it to the board walk and have the cake. The waiter told us "I will try to steal some for you", then just come back with a check and walked away and never bring us any utensils nor tell us if there is none available. I love the food very much and willing to pay for the experience, and I understand things are hard during covid for restaurants, but the service is below average and I do not feel like I have been taken care of, communicated to or respected. read more

After going here four or five times all I can say is WOW! This place shines as the brightest star in Asbury Park. Everything is done right from the delicious food to the ambience and expert service. New Items have been added to the menu: French onion soup and a wonderful pork chop are simply out of this world. And, a daily special pork belly appetizer, that was simmered in a low temperature water bath for 36 hours, was unbelievable. The place gets crowded early and the din of the noise can be distracting but who cares Pascal & Sabine will give most anything in Manhattan a run for their money and as far as Asbury Park goes it leaves them all in the dust. I came here for my birthday. We got to sit at the booth which is nice and semi-private. I love the Manhattan which is strong and tasty. I feel it's more like Old Fashioned. For the appetizers, we got foie gras and escargots. (Fancy..... I know XD). The foie gras is from Hudson Valley Market which is smooth and sealed nicely. The escargots are too salty. We got duck and pork chops for entrees. I like the duck more. The pork chops are just ok. My friend told me the coq au vin is nice. I will try that next time. We also ordered fries on the side. They are crispy. For the dessert we got mango souffle to share. I am not a fan. It tasted more like dried mango to me. Went last Saturday for my son's 14th birthday. Our party consisted of two adults, an 11 year old, and a 14 year old. We had a 5:30 PM reservation and the place was already packed at that time. This is a hot spot to say the least. From the appetizer menu, we ordered the Mac & Cheese (2 orders), escargot, and cheese plate. From the entree menu, we ordered steak Frites, and Coq Au Vin. Everything was excellent. If you have never tried escargot, this is a good place to give it a shot because this is about as good as it gets. The waiter and bus boy were very attentive and did a great job with the service. So why did I take a star off? We got the table right next to the front door. We figured a 5:30 reservation would get us our pick of nice tables but we ended up with the worst one in the house. Also $175 for 2 entrees, four appetizers, one dessert, and two glasses of wine with tax and tip is a little pricey. I can imagine a regular adult night out with the liquor flowing would be rather expensive. So you may have to save this for a special occasion depending on your budget. My only suggestion for improvement would be to consider that you are paying Asbury Park rent (not NYC) so consider lightening up on the pricing. Of course with a line to get in and an overflow crowd at the bar, that likely won't be happening anytime soon. read more

I came here for brunch with a group last Sunday to celebrate my friend's birthday. We all had some mixed feelings about the brunch menu and were a little underwhelmed. The duck in the duck confit sandwich was a little dry and the sandwich had barely any pickled carrots, watercress, and mustard, which I thought would be major components of the sandwich. For appetizers, some of us shared the hay potatoes and escargots. The potatoes were way too salty. The escargots were good, but they served them to us without any bread, and we had to wait a little while before getting bread, so that we could soak up the buttery garlic sauce. The $5 bellini carafes were awesome, but this was a bar special only. We were a little disappointed that were couldn't order this special from our table, but they were so delicious (and strong!) that we didn't mind walking over to the bar to get them. The duck egg entree was kind of bland. The potato cake is essentially a poorly executed knish that desperately needs more flavor. We were surprised because when we read "fried potato cake" we were expecting something that resembled a latke. The best part of this entree was the duck jus, but sadly, they only gave us a teeny tiny amount of it. Our table shared the milk chocolate pot de creme, and it was excellent. We came here because we received a gift certificate from a generous client. We were expecting a gastronomic experience and that we surely did! The food from the charcuterie and escargot to the main dishes of duck cassoulet, seared fluke and even the pork chops and burgers were fantastic! The desserts were just as delicious - we had the cheesecake with raspberry and the banana pudding! So yummy! Will there be a second visit? Absolutely! Next time, we'll try out the brunch. The entrance gives off the feel of a Parisian brasserie, complete with a piano/singer. The bar had a nice vibe and was definitely hopping. Service was friendly yet professional. The wine list is mainly French, Spanish and American. We shifted towards France- a nice Sancerre and a Pouilly Fuisse. I was a little worried about the restaurant after reading some of the reviews, but our party of three absolutely loved it! The service was fantastic and the food was all absolutely delicious. We got there a little later than our reservation but a quick call ahead showed no problem to accommodate us. For apps we tried the escargot, French onion soup, burrata, and caviar. At the recommendation of our waiter we got the Supreme caviar - with the creme fraiche it was creamy, salty, and smooth. I would also reorder the escargot if we were to go again, which was rich, buttery, and garlicky! For our mains, we shared the lobster papardelle and the scallops. The scallops were succulent and tender. The lobster pasta was al dente, rich, and perfect to share. We also had a side order of frites, which came piping hot. For dessert at the recommendation of our waiter again we got the milk chocolate pot de creme. This was an unexpected incredible way to end it! The base is a thick chocolate mousse topped with caramel and sea salt. It was a great thing to share three ways as well. Rarely write 1 star reviews. The staff is millennial terror. This may be the only restaurant where they believe the restaurant is always right. The food was undercooked and the seafood was frozen. (Like it was actually cold and not cooked through). When we tried to send back and kept it quite respectful, we were greeted by some clueless "manager" who told us we didn't know how seafood should be cooked. I had a very good time at Pascal & Sabine. I think what I appreciated the most was the service. From hostess to bar tender to waiter to even the bus boy, everyone really went above an beyond to make sure we had a good night. The decor is incredibly romantic and Parisian. You'll have a great time here and be taken care of. I can't in good faith give this place a 5 star rating because the food. Our drinks were excellent. But I got the burger that wasn't cooked how I asked it to be. My fiancée got the mussels. While they weren't over cooked they weren't fresh. They just didn't have that umph that makes it mind blowing. I'd say that's how my burger was too. I wish I got their signature dishes like the Coq Au vin. I'll probably give this place another shot. You should try it out. I'm pretty confident you'll love their service and if you try something more classic, you'll probably have a better meal than me. read more

Pascal &Sabine is a un-pretentious French restaurant that everyone should try. Don't be scared of the French style because everyone in this restaurant makes it their job to give you the best experience. From coming into the door and asking about a special table because I forgot to mention it was my wedding anniversary, and then our waitress coming with 2 complimentary glasses of champagne, they really do their best to make it special. I'm giving Pascal and Sabine 5 stars for the way they'd handled dining during covid. (Also the food and service, but I'll elaborate later) Half of the street is closed to allow for space to help support the restaurant. (Bravo Asbury!) They have charming wooden 'boxes' that separate each table, with an umbrella in between for shade. We went for my husbands birthday. It was indeed a special place to celebrate. The menu is concise and enticing. We sat down and shortly after receiving our drinks, the weather started to turn to rain. Thankfully our waitress accommodated us and sat us under an awning and didn't have to have a rain soaked meal. Great wine selection, my husband had a dirty martini with a blue cheese olive which perfect. We both started with French onion soup which was excellent also. Not too salty and flavorful. For entree we both had scallops which were served with a zucchini and squash marmalade. Perfect serving size. Fortunately we still had enough room for dessert! We shared a creme brûlée which did not disappoint. The service was attentive, friendly and accommodating. Very happy with our experience and will definitely be back! read more

Came here as a last minute decision one night and we are so happy we came here. I think this is truly the best restaurant in Asbury. Before I start getting into the food, our server was fantastic and I wish I remembered his name I think it may have been Dave but he was just so welcoming and took the time to explain everything and ask us what we like and don't like. The restaurant itself is so different and beautifully decorated. Now to describe the food, everything was delicious. The oysters we had were meaty and fresh, and granted I understand it was the catch but it is always appreciated when oysters are of quality. The French onion soup is amazing, the perfect little crock of comfort and cheese and broth! The beef tartare was amazing too I definitely recommend trying all of these dishes. I got the mussels because I wasn't in the mood for steak and the mussels were really good but I would like to try the steak or burger next time just because of how great they looked! I have been here a few times and found the food reasonable but this last time was very disappointing. We had reserved a table of 5 for a birthday dinner and expected more than received. The hostess was slow in attention with no apology. They decided to stick us in a hidden corner near the wait staff station, very isolated. We felt the food in general was very salty. We had escargot, truffle pasta and entree pasta that was over salted and under- portioned. We ordered and paid for a 2017 Sancerre but received a 2021. The Moules and Frites was the only good meal. An intimate name, an intimate setting, and intimate... food? Just got back here from a birthday dinner. The atmosphere is chique, dimly lit, and cozy. Our table/booth was against the wall with couches and throw pillows. The bar is wonderfully decorated and all-around a stylish place to be. I ordered the French onion soup for an appetizer, hangar steak frites for my entree, and creme brulee for dessert. The FO soup was delectable with a great broth, touch of sherry and plenty of gruyere cheese hanging on the bowl (a must for any FO soup lover). The soup itself was a good size. The hangar steak was cooked perfectly, and the sauce and its accompanying fries were also excellent. The fries were crisp, just the right saltiness, and fresh. For dessert, the creme brulee custard was light and airy with a great caramelized sugar topping, which almost had like a marshmallowy taste. Perhaps they were off their normal stride but our brunch was a big disappointment. Service was slow and inattentive. Quiche Lorraine was overcooked, dry and crumbly and came 15 minutes after my wife eggs Benedict which were undercooked with very runny whites and a flavorless hollandaise. As a middle aged carnivore, I have experienced every level of steakhouse you can think of. From Applebees to Ruths Chris to Gordon Ramsey himself.... And this might be the most disappointing steak I have ever had. $75, 16oz boneless ribeye supposedly from Niman Ranch,,,,, was basically a hunk of gristle. I assume this is supposed to be Prime Beef, but I could be wrong. And it's not even worth mentioning the steak was way under cooked. I asked for medium rare and it came out with a charred crust and a cold center. I was there for a birthday celebration so I wasn't going to raise a stink about it, so I did my best to cut a few pieces of edible meat off this thing but every single bite had gristle in it. In addition, I asked to see a wine menu and the guy just asked me what I want. Well Junior, I want to see a menu..... I don't want the house Cabernet. He ended up bringing me a glass of whatever was open behind the bar. And all the food came out way too fast. Wife ordered French onion soup (with the French bread and melted/charred cheese on top.... The full French onion soup) and he left, came back 5 seconds later with a bowl of French onion soup. Everything was pre-made and just sitting under heat lamps waiting to be ordered. I will not be going back. I originally wrote a 2 star review but I had to change it to 1 star because there was nothing redeeming about this place. The drinks were ok?? And the raw oysters were awesome, but you really can't screw up raw oysters. I will definitely not be going back. Went here for brunch on a Sunday with a group of friends. The food was just okay.. nothing special or outstanding. Pricce was fair, based on the area, but the service was really bad. I know this is a french restaurant and they try to serve in the more relaxed manner that Europeans typically dine. However, this is much more egregious than relaxed. Our server truly forgot about coming to see us, even after being reminded by one of the other servers. Food came out slowly as well. No excuse, particularly since the restaurant was only about 60% capacity. It took nearly 2.5 hours for us to get through brunch. Truly the longest meal time our group of 8 spent during our entire time in AP.. longer by over 45 minutes. I had to call the restaurant several times because of a dispute with the charges for the reservation. They were to refund me the hold required when I booked the reservation.. about $125. Our server assured me this would be refunded (and not applied to the bill). However, I checked my statement nearly a week later and it was not removed. I called the restaurant several times and was told that there was a specific manager that would have to remove the charges. At times when I called that manager was there, Zosie (sp?), but would not speak with me.. for whatever reason. I had to call at least 6 times, never speaking to her and never getting a call back when they said she would call. I finally have to dispute this with the credit card company. I did reach her on one call (since she repeatedly never called me) and she got defensive.. insisting she called and left me a voicemail. Even when I told her I don't have a missed call from her or a voicemail, she continued to dispute. I told her at that point I'll just go through my credit card company. This managers' actions are reflective of the way they treat customers.. not a priority. Save your money and go elsewhere! read more

I wish I paid attention to the numerous reviews on here mentioning how overly salty the food is. Came for brunch and had the summer pasta. You'd expect a *summer* pasta to be light and fresh. Not here: it was extremely salty!! Our wonderful, attentive server asked the kitchen to re-cook it, but what came back was still wayyyy too salty. Plus the portion was super small. (Manager did do the right thing and comped us.) Fish and chips were just ok; the chips tasted re-cooked and not freshly fried. On top of the lackluster food, they were out of iced tea?!?? We've enjoyed a couple evenings at P&S but none as much as 12/30/19 when dinner out before New Year's amateur busyness would be a better idea and Joe at the front bar made it a great time.
