Found this place on Groupon. We went on the weekend for a late lunch and had a great experience. The staff is very friendly and quick. The dishes came out looking great! They were delicous. I had Hunan Chicken with fried rice and salad, everything turned out very tasting. The salad dressing was very good and they actually put a good amount on it. The food and service is always really good here! My favorite is the Redskin roll. There are a few other speciality rolls that are great too. The habachi meals aren't the greatest but it's a large portion for the price- I prefer the actual Japanese steakhouses They have really good priced lunch specials and They recently started to deliver so that makes me very happy! read more

Ordered from Passion Fin for the first time through the Yelp App (not my first time getting delivery from them overall though). The restaurant constantly does a great job with providing delicious food, conveniently, and fast! My delivery came within 20 minutes (granted where I work, it's not too far from them) but still! The food packaging was excellent. We all ordered soup and there was no spillage whatsoever. The sushi was excellent, as always. My favorite is the Alaska Roll + Spicy Salmon roll. A few of my coworkers ordered from the Hibachi Lunch menu- everyone loved their food. Overall would definitely recommend and order from them again. My one star removed was for price. After reading all the great comments we were excited to eat here. But what a disappointment it turned out. We ordered dinner sushi/sashimi plater B. Food came in a boat and it smells stinky. We had a great dinner at Passion Fin. The acoustics were not great as we could hear some kids making noises (and a few St. Patrick's Day revelers). But, the food was wonderful. Andy was a fantastic waiter who came around often to check on us. I had the crab and asparagus soup which was delicious-you must try this one! I also had the shashimi dinner with the house salad as well as sea urchin and salmon roe sushi. My wife had the Black Rainbow roll and loved it. This is a great all around sushi place that has a small bar and a happy hour. They also have Thai although I have yet to try it. Friendly and prompt service every time I have been there. I went to this restaurant a few times for their happy hour specials. The middle-aged Vietnamese woman behind the bar served me each time. I always tipped her 30-35% even though she always seemed unhappy and slow at her job. I didn't think about it too much. This was until I found a mosquito in my sushi (see picture). I quietly pointed this out to her, but she repeatedly denied it being a bug. She refused to replace the sushi roll because it was a happy hour item and happy hour had ended 8 minutes ago. There was a debate about her refusal so I asked her, this time loud enough for the other customers at the bar to hear, "do you think it's fair to not replace the food with a bug in it?" There was angry dialogue between us and she was literally yelling at me. The other customers thought it was hysterical. No manager was on duty to supervise the employees or do quality control on their food. I definitely won't be going back if that miserable woman is there. The bug in the sushi didn't bother me half as much as her. read more

This is an excellent sushi place on Gallows Road. I have not had one bad piece of sushi here. Service is very quick and fast. They have a great beer selection and I really enjoy that there are two TVs to watch multiple games at once. I will definitely be back to try out the Happy Hour, I have heard great things. read more

Ate here twice, both times we had great food and service. Parking was simple in the adjoining free (retail parking) garage. The sushi and roti were both excellent, as was the seaweed salad. Ordered take out from Passion Fin last night and the chicken was undercooked. To make matters worse, there was a staple that my wife pulled out of her sushi roll after she started eating it (note the sushi was already in a contained box and there was no way for something to get in the sushi through unpacking and providing to my wife). Called management and they said they would investigate and only provided a refund for the portion of food cost related to the sushi of $16. Definitely will not be eating at Passion Fin again. read more

I've been to the Ashburn location before to use my groupon and remembered they had great special sushi rolls so I was excited when I found out they were opening one in the Merrifield area. Went here looking for ramen and found no pork on the menu. Ended up with a seafood soup that was acceptable. The black dragon sushi roll was enjoyable. Kids meal, at $10 is a bit pricey, but it was a lot of food and my daughter loved the teriyaki shrimp. read more

We LOVE Passion Fin. The atmosphere is nice, though I'm often surprised at how quiet it is (outside of happy hour). The service has always been excellent. Helpful tip: connect to their wifi with your email, and they'll send you coupons occasionally. The pork gyoza is awesome enough that my wife and I frequently each get our own order. A friend of mine swears by their hibachi, though I've never tried it - I'm too addicted to their sushi. I have tried each of the special rolls and never been disappointed, but my favorites are the Sunrise, Black Dragon, and Scarlet. One minor note, the mixed drinks are tasty, but sometimes weak. Not sure if the usual bartender just pours inconsistently, or if they swap bartenders often enough that there's a natural variance. read more

A nice, quieter sushi place within easy walking distance of the Dunn-Loring/Merrifield metro. It is my household's go-to place for convenient sushi/hot sake. I find the prices to be reasonable and have never ordered anything that I haven't enjoyed. My personal favorite dish is the chicken pineapple fried rice (so good!!). Not only is the selection great (Japanese, Chinese, Thai, and Sushi available) but the delivery itself is always astonishingly fast. I'm not sure why this place has had such high ratings. We bought a 'Living Social' deal to this restaurant because it was close to work, and it's high ratings on Yelp. My husband and I decided the high ratings were due to 'friends'. My husband says you cannot trust the first 30 or so reviews because it has to be friends. Anyways, the service was great. They cared a lot about the customer it seems. I did accidently flash the 'Yelp' app to the waitress, because I was looking through the pictures to figure out what to order.. so I wonder if that makes the difference, when they know I might review. However, my husband and I... we love sushi. We are always looking for a better sushi place. When I was looking at the menu, the logo was immediately recognizable to me. (I am a visual person). Then it dawned on me that I had been to the Ashburn location also with an online deal. That time, we had ordered strictly Chinese/Thai food.. and were NOT fans. But, again this may be a different experience, because it's a different location, so not sure. But to be safe.. we went with Sushi Rolls. This time we ordered rolls. Four rolls and an appetizer left us satisfied, not full. We ordered the Angel Roll, The Philly Roll, The Sunset Roll, Deluxe Rainbow roll, and the Thai Chicken Wraps as an appetizer. We went for dinner, and the prices were comparable to other sushi places. However, my husband and I are kind of sushi snobs. We LOVE 'Sushi Yoshi' in Vienna, and 'Yuraku' in Germantown, MD (yes, we drive an hour to go get sushi). So... for just the food itself.. I would have to give 2 stars. The service and attention bumps the place up to 3 stars. All rolls were ok. The sunset roll was the best, perhaps because it seemed to have the most fish. I always thought sushi places were supposed to give a choice of miso soup or salad complimentary, but this place doesn't. The appetizer was good. Nothing to call home about. But it was good. When I asked for more lettuce to wrap with.. they gave us more with out any questions. Another side note: My husband hates Asparagus. Hates it. I can't remember which roll now, but one of the rolls has asparagus. It was not in the menu description. He thought it tasted funny, I told him there was asparagus. It was simple, he just picked them out, I ate them. We mentioned this to the waitress, and she was apologetic. We asked for another roll recommendation, and she recommended the Deluxe Rainbow roll. Apparently, asparagus was in the menu description for this one, so the fault partly falls on us. So as we ate the roll, my husband again picked out the asparagus, and I ate it. We told the waitress, she again apologized profusely.. and this other lady came over, I'm guessing she was the owner or related to the owner? And apologized, and thanked us for bringing it to their attention and stated that they would make sure to add asparagus to the menu description. No, we didn't get any discounts.. but they were nice, and apologized. So that's enough for us. Conclusion: Sushi rolls were pretty good. But not great. Prices are ok. Not great. We expect to pay a lot when we get sushi. Service is good. But with so many other, better sushi choices in the area... it's a tough sell. So we won't get sushi here again, but maybe return for the other Asian food to try (with a deal, of course.)? read more

Price: $$$ (even for lunch) Environment: Modern/Stylish I have been an avide Sushi consumer for years, this place taste similar to a box of sushi made from a grocery store to me. Price was on the high $$$ as well. Recommend them hiring a real-sushi chief. However, if you are just looking for a regular sushi place in a trendy location and willing to pay $$$. Sushi is by far not fresh or high grade. Rather, if it were not for the wasabi and soy sauce, it would have been horrible. You would think for the price, you would get quality seafood but not in this place. I would have given this place a 1-star if it wasn't for the decent food. I went here twice, once on a Monday night (not busy) and once on a Friday night (busy). The service was terrible, both times. The servers are not attentive at all. On Friday night, they took for every to take our order. Took them an additional 45 minutes to bring the food out. During that time, about 10 tables had eaten and left. No apologies from the owners or offer any complimentary beverage or anything. Even Starbucks gives you free stuff if they make you wait for a long time. At least an apology. On Monday night, they took forever to take our orders. We even asked another waiter to take our order, to no avail. The owner had to eventually come over and ask if we wanted something to drink and take our order. Mind you, this place was not packed and our waiter was no where to be seen. The food was ok, but when we order "uni" they told us that they didn't have anymore (this is the second time in a week). They said their delivery service did not bring them in. So in other words, these guys don't care so much for the quality of their food. Sushi Yoshi, which is the highest rated sushi place in town, drives up to NYC to pick up their fish and drive it back to VA. Not this place. The owners seem very inexperienced and seem to waste a ton of usable space (i.e., they could have put a lot more tables on the floor). They definitely need an experienced manager at this restaurant and need to teach their staff to be more attentive. Anyways, enough complaining. Although no the best tasting or the freshest in town, the food is pretty decent. So if it wasn't for the service, I'd probably go here more often. read more
