Stopped here on our most recent trip to Fredericksburg. It's a cute little mom-and-pop Italian spot with solid reviews, so we decided to give it a try. There was about a 45 minute wait for our party of 7, but the hostesses were very attentive and kept us updated on timing without us having to ask which we appreciated. Bread is brought to the table with oil and spices when you're seated. The bread itself seemed like standard grocery store bread and was room temperature, which was a bit underwhelming. The food came out very quickly, which is convenient but it did feel like the dishes were prepared more for speed than detail. Most plates were fairly oily and heavy on the cheese. Prices are reasonable, and the service was efficient, so we were in and out quickly. While it wasn't a bad experience overall, it just didn't quite live up to the hype for us and it's probably not a place we'd return to. We LOVED Pasta Bella. This is the exact type of place we look for on our adventures. It is tucked right off Main St. in Fredericksburg, but somehow still feels homey and local. Quick service Italian pasta shop in Fredericksburg! Things came out quick here and service was swift. They got a lot of pastas and ravioli options along with a wine menu. If you want to satisfy Italian flavor cravings - maybe this can help but overall they are not refined or exceptional dishes. We tried bruschetta, shrimp scampi, chicken parmesan, ceasar salad, ravioli and tiramisu for dessert. They do have free bread which tasted like supermarket white loaf - doughy smell and does not have a good crust 5/10 Bruschetta - better 7/10 shrimp scampi 6/10 - lots of garlic, watery and kind of bland. I can probably make this at home. Chicken parmesan - 7/10. Chicken was cooked well, pasta along with it was bland. Ravioli 6.5/10 - kinda bland too, cheesy. Tiramisu 7.5/10 - probably the best out of everything, it is made with whipped cream and not just egg yolks like the true Italian way if you care about that. Disclaimer: Good Italian in Texas hasn't been the easiest for us to find, and Fredericksburg certainly sets the expectation of moderate food to cater to tourists. Do not expect Michelin-rated pasta and Italian. The service is nice and quick. A bottle of seasoned olive oil (I think), a welcoming gesture. My expectations were low, but it wasn't until we got our food that I couldn't even find it in me to say it was even moderately good. It also didn't help that we literally saw a continuous use of the microwave, with something large wrapped in plastic heating up for an extended time. The eggplant parmesan was okay. The Pasta Bella plate (ziti, spinach, chicken, mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes with an Alfredo sauce) was not okay. I don't know why it's necessary to have 1/2 cup of water/oil as a part of the dish. Came to Fredricksburg for the weekend and ate here Friday night. My husband is very picky, especially about Italian food. He loved the Alfredo so much we came back again on Saturday. I got the special on Friday which was great but I thought the chicken was dry. No worries. I just ate around it. On Saturday, I got the seafood ravioli which was really good. My husband got shrimp Alfredo again because he's a creature of habit. lol. We tried the calamari and the fried ravioli as appetizers. Both were good but I preferred the ravioli. There was a thirty minute wait both nights but all the restaurants had a wait from what I could see. I don't think any of them take reservations. Oh! I found this place on Yelp. Fredericksburg is a tourist place so wasn't sure it would be good. It's a small casual restaurant. Service was excellent. We ordered soda, a Chardonnay, pizza bread, ravioli rustica and seafood ravioli. The raviolis were amazing. The food was so good. The seafood ravioli cream sauce had a citrusy taste. It was amazing. I would give a higher rating but there was one main reason why I don't. This place was recommended which was good. We went on a Tuesday night which had a 40-45 minute wait. No problem with that as it was late when we arrived. The manager was very nice and entertaining. We ordered quickly. I had the spaghetti with meat sauce, which was okay. Nothing really special. My wife had the seafood ravioli, which she enjoyed. The sauce was really tasty she said. The major reason for the rating was the condition of the restaurant itself. First off the bottle of wine in the table is olive oil with some very nice spices mixed in. Goes great with the complimentary bread. The caprese salad was an excellent version with nice mozzarella excellent tomatoes and a very good balsamic. We had the #4 specialty pasta which was shrimp in a cream and cheese sauce with peas and mushrooms. It's served with the pasta of the day in this case penne. Very good and cranky the large was recomended since we shared it but it was a ton of pasta. It only had 4 nice sized shrimp but they were super fresh and perfectly cooked. Was really looking forward to coming here. I had looked it up prior to visiting and it was on my must do less. There was only two of us so there was no weight which was really nice. We ordered calamari which was surprisingly good, but we ordered pizza bread and it was absolutely horrible. It was practically garlic bread with just marinara and cheese on it we both ate one slice and told the waiter that we weren't gonna eat it and he could take it back. My wife and I, and another couple stopped at a place that offered bbq and burgers. Fortunately for us, they were closed. Down the street we saw Pasta Bella. The service was excellent, the owner a hoot, and one of the best waiters I have ever met. The hot bread and olive oil were there in a flash. My wife had the Shrimp Mushroom Pasta, and the rest of us ordered Mushroom Soup and the Catfish Pasta special. We all agreed that it was the best meal we had in three days in Fredricksburg, Texas.
