This place was a real treat. It is a nice place with a lot of locals, a little removed from the tourist areas. Cloth napkins, I would characterize the lunch menu as Italian comfort food with some more authentic options for dinner. The service was excellent and we enjoyed everything. Bread was addictive and it was hard to leave any on the table.

The most random location for a an Italian restaurant. BUT ITS ACTUALLY GOOD!! The service was excellent she was super sweet and attentive. My shrimp Alfredo was perfect, Not like Olive Gardens Alfredo. The sauce was well balanced and not overly heavy on the cream. I will say the meat Stromboli needed some spice in the sausage , overall it's a great place to dine in with the family

Bella Sera feels like a diner where you come in, grab your bites and go buy you can definitely come in and hang for a while. It's got plenty of space and the food came out pretty quickly. We had great service from Nicole. She's super nice. They have Italian food but we came in for the pizza and it was delicious! I had the gluten free 14" meat lovers. Good size. Tasty! Price was ok for the area but the real deal came with the drinks. Basic wine and beer but they were quite affordable!

Anna suggested this and it was so good

Friendly service and the food is always great! I've had the fried ravioli, lasagna, Alfredo. All is good

I usually don't write reviews, but my experience at Bella Sera in Fredericksburg was so shockingly bad I feel obligated to warn others. First off, the food was unacceptable. The salami on my parents salad was brown and visibly discolored--clearly not fresh and possibly unsafe. My mom also noted the salad did not taste correctly. So I decided to take it back to the store. Took it to the very nice young man in the front and he went to his boss and his boss loudly asked "whats up man". The young man shows the food to his boss and the Boss automatically looks at me and begins to complain that my family and I keep coming back (mind you we did not get the correct order the FIRST time). He then comes from the back kitchen.... Even worse than the food was the treatment I received. The owner continuously and adamantly referred to me as "girl" in a condescending tone, which felt racially charged and deeply disrespectful. When I said "Excuse me, what did you call me?" And he looked me into my eyes and said "GIRL" and I, at that point let him know my full first name. At one point, he literally threw my salad onto the front table and yelled at me from the kitchen. After continuously letting me know "He cut it today girl". The meat was 2 different colors of brown and grey. It was demeaning and completely uncalled for. After my aunt called the manager and asked what happened he proceeded to lie and say I caused a scene and that he called me "ma'am". Then admitted he called me "Girl". She then educated him on what the phrase "Girl" means according to African Americans in America. The atmosphere was chaotic and hostile--nothing like the welcoming, family-style service you expect in Fredericksburg. I left feeling angry and disturbed. Bella Sera is not worth your time, money, or dignity. I will never return, and I strongly encourage others to avoid this place as well.

Not sure how the reviews are this high. Food is mediocre. This is the spaghetti noodles I had to remove from the meal to have enough sauce to eat. House salad dressing is good but the highlights end there.

The fried ravioli were amazing , they managed to serve us super quickly on a Tuesday night before closing, the caprese salad was nice and fresh and the tortellini was creamy and on point

We made reservations in advance for a large group. When we arrived they told us they were closed and offered no apology or explanation.

The ambience was tasteful and approachable like if somebody's grandmother ran a delightful restaurant that you'd actually want to visit. The service was trying their best Seemed pretty understaffed, but everything was fast and they were quite courteous. We had the focaccia which was stupendous, came with some wonderful dipping options after a glass of local red and a sparkling water we were served our main course, the wild boar Ragu what can I say about this? The homemade noodles were a true delight sauce was perfect and light in the bore... Oh, the bore. The tender amazing bore took me to flavor heaven I couldn't get enough. And of course, we saved a slice of focaccia to wipe everything up at the end. If you come across a bad review, you will probably see that it is a somewhat uneducated tasteless patron that's probably just twisted up about it being " too expensive " or that the " service was slow " so dear reader rest assured this is not your friendly neighborhood chilies this is something much much better.

We arrived at 6 to a little populated dining room. We were sat next to the window with the sun shining directly in our faces. The did close the curtains fryer I moved my chair to the side of the two top which was nice. We ordered the Insalata Alla Campana which had zero flavor. We asked if the could split and we were told the kitchen doesn't split plates. I would not recommend! We then ordered the roasted garlic and ricotta cheese meatballs and the Tuscan bean soup. If you go order two bowls of the Tuscan bean soup because it is amazing!1 I forgot our drinks. Hubs ordered the Fortunate Verde which was $17 dollars and very much over priced and a glass of the Rose which was mediocre at best. Our total bill was $80 before tip for appetizers and two drinks. This was a swing and a miss for us.

Checking…read moreYelp, we discover that on a Tuesday evening, most of the German restaurants in town have already closed at 3pm. That's when Otto's stood out to us. Not only was it the first restaurant to show up on Yelp (very highly rated), but also it was OPEN. While it may have been an accident that we chose Otto's, it was a lucky break. They were awesome. It was very busy, so we had to eat on the patio, but our table had plenty of shade and a nice breeze from a wall fan. It's a block off the main drag, so you don't have to put up with lots of traffic going by. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food didn't take too long to come out. The selections were fairly extensive. The food quality, portion sizes and flavor were spot on. We also highly recommend the Black Forest cake.

It's great the way it is, and trying to make it fancy doesn't make it better. But I've always thought that if a restaurant has only a few options on its menu, they had better all be great, and I didn't find that to be the case at Otto's. One of us had the schnitzel au gratin, which seemed more to be like a chicken Parmesan. I had the duck schnitzel. I would say they were just both OK. The fried potatoes that came with the au gratin schnitzel were left largely untouched on my companion's plate. There wasn't much flavor to my red cabbage, and my spaetzel seemed to be more like a modern day risotto. And this at a restaurant that makes you leave your credit card for a reservation and threatens to charge if you cancel less than 24 hours before. For that, it had better knock my socks off. But my socks are still on, and they won't be walking back to Otto's. Extra star for the great location.
