I love this store for many years . I used to only buy at Demontes across the street but once the owner Larry sold out to a partner it lost its appeal to me and got very pricey.Pastosa has some great food, fabulous homemade fresh pastas and sauce and the prices are still pretty good. Friendly nice people who work there and own it. One day I was having some people over and I went to Pastosa for there homemade garlic toast rounds to but Brushetta on them as a little appetizer. They were completely out of them they couldn't make them in the timeframe I had. One of the people who work there saw how disappointed I was and went into the kitchen to get me there actual recipe on exactly how to make them myself. They actually took the time to explain how to make them and I bought everything I needed to go home to replicate these delicious garlic round toasts. They even cut up the Italian breads into the right size pieces. What a wonderful thing to do for me. In addition their prepared food is always fresh and delicious and this made this particular Pastosa SPECIAL TO ME. read more

We have close friends who are from the area and recently they brought us back some amazing pastas and sauces which we've been using to make some excellent Italian dinners. Their gnocchi is fluffy and has a perfect texture! Their marinara and pesto sauces were both incredible! But a fav of ours so far has been their stuffed shells... absolutely amazing! We highly recommend giving them a try, whether you get it via mailorder or stop in a shop and get some frozen to go - GET SOME!!! After witnessing something so cruel, I can say they lost a loyal customer. This old man went in here trying to return a small jar of sauce because he was not able to properly read the label, as he did not have his glasses. The old man apologized and explained he got the wrong one accidentally with Prosciutto and he doesn't eat that. He explained this to the girl and she got the manager who was very sarcastic and disrespectful to him. The manager came out with a nasty look saying "oh you opened this already, what can I do with this, what good is this ? it's a sin"etc. I watched this manager chase this old man out of the store screaming at him trying to cause a fight, patting his chest. I am astonished at this customer service. It is obscene to act in such unprofessional cruel manner. Accidents happen and we should really be considerate and respect our elders and people with disabilities ! My girlfriend introduced me to this amazing little Italian deli. I must admit the parking lot sucks but your usually in and out. Love the deli counter, the meat and cheese hanging, the fresh artichoke bread, the homemade manicotti (oh so good), among other things. They have a gluten free section, great cheese, breads, gelato; just a a classic Italian deli with the goods. Definitely a place to hit up and get some great food! read more

I am there at least once a week for least some fresh Mozzarella and some of their fantastic oven baked bread. They are famous for their Raviolis which are always a hit with both kids and adults. I red some to my grandson last night and he devoured them! They make homemade sauces and I can say that they never disappoint. As much as I should be making my own sauce, these guys do a wonderful job. Pastosa's is simply one of the places you go to on Staten Island anywhere from once a month (to stock up on staples) to once every week. This particular store is better than the other locations, probably because they have their own kitchen and equipment (although the original is in Brooklyn on New Utrecht Avenue, as my dad continually reminds me.) Even the produce (not usually a specialty of italian stores like this) is great! Their Basil is fresh no matter what time of year, their diced garlic and onions (for the lazy chefs among us) are better than some whole fresh ones! Get a sandwich here. I've lived in this neighborhood for 6 years and have been to Pastosa at least once every week for all that time. Quality is second to none. Service always comes with a smile and often goes above and beyond. Quick example - when my wife is looking for a specific product or cut that isn't in the display case, the butcher will almost always go in the back and make/cut it or at least look to see if they can. Other reviews are spot on - the prepared food here is awesome. I defy you to find a better chicken marsala than what they've got at this location. It's definitely on my death row meal menu (if I ever had to make one). read more

Amazing selection and delicious mozzarella.... store is clean and well organized, however I was there on Christmas Eve afternoon to pick up assorted items for my antipasto platter. The staff rushed me through the store actually telling me that I should point to the cheeses I wanted and the cashier girl would grab them for me ! Spending 100.00 and didn't want me to browse the cheese case ! I was in and out in under 10 minutes and wasn't even sure what I bought ! My plan was not to linger but I also expected to take a moment to look at the various items before I was literally pushed out the door! They have great stuff here. Their prepared food is always fresh and reasonably priced. Very good selection of meats. Parking can be a bit tricky at peak times but it's all good. Unlike most Italian Markets they currently don't charge a card fee. Much appreciated. read more

This was my first time shopping at this location. I usually go to the one on Richmond Rd (which I prefer). I don't like that you can't really see the deli and they have limited produce. First off this is not the place to go to if you're on a budget or you're cheap. You get what you pay for. Yes the fresh pasta products are pricey but are delicious and have a taste all their own. I love Pastosa . I love this location it is walking distance from the church I attend . My husband and I stopped by after church to get some gluten free rainbow cookies and gluten free black and white cookies. I then pointed to the gluten free freezer and he said see if they have gluten free lasagna grab it and I found gluten free lasagna sheets from DeRosa and he told me to get 2 . I love DeRosa products they are great quality . Pastosa is a great place to get a quick bite or snack. The cheeses, the homemade marinara , the meats , the sweet treats, the gluten free products and so much more. The store is small I will admit and the parking is not the best but parking can be found close by . It is a great little place with something for everyone .
