Car shopping is not always fun.  Seeing what has changed, all the new offerings and technology are the highlight.  Negotiating and haggling over money is not.  My most recent experience with Mo at Patrick Volvo involved nothing but the good parts of the car-buying experience.  After reaching out to Patrick Volvo I was connected with Mo, who was helpful, attentive, and professional.  We emailed back and forth and spoke over the phone a few times.  We were able to come to a deal that blew all of the other dealerships I'd been talking to out of the water (I mean thousands of dollars)!  The day I arrived to pick up my new Volvo XC60 Recharge, he had it up front and ready to go.  We spent about 2 hours at the dealership which was a breeze compared to our other car-buying experiences.  We were even able to hammer out some last-minute changes to the numbers thanks to Mo and Justin.  I can't say enough just how wonderful this car-buying experience was.  This is our third XC60 and this is the only time we have walked out of the dealership not questioning whether we did the right thing and wondering if they got over on us.  Everything was fair, transparent, and most of all the math was mathing!  We have been loyal Volvo customers because we love our car. I bought a used Ford Escape Titanium from them. The salesman Tola was pleasant and quick with paperwork. My problems began afterwards. The system console has to be reset constantly. After finding duct tape hanging from my suv, I discovered a large part under the car behind driver's side wheel was covered in duct tape. I notified Tola and he forwarded info to Used Car Manager, who has never called me back to resolve. I took it to a third party mechanic who removed the duct tape, inspected and installed two clips to secure part properly. They either didn't inspect the suv before putting it up for sale or they did and they put the duct tape on the undercarriage cover. Either way it undermines my confidence in my purchase. If you can, get your car inspected before purchasing from them. read more

I bought a used Lexus from Patrick Volvo two weeks ago. Egor our salesmen was kind, courteous, attentive, easy to deal with negotiation wise. Also, there was a slight defect with the steering wheel during the test drive. The steering wheel was tilted slightly to the left. They said they would take care of it after purchase and it would be on them. They did follow through and corrected the issue about five days later once I made an appointment with them. What an absolute joke of an operation. I've never encountered such staggering incompetence and apathy from a business. I purchased a used car from them--and it took FOUR FULL WEEKS for them to fix dents they caused while the car was sitting on their own lot. That's right--they damaged the car and then made me wait a month to get it. But here's the real kicker: not once--NOT ONCE--did anyone bother to call me. Not Tola, my so-called "salesperson." Not anyone from the sales or service teams. The moment my check cleared, I was invisible. Total radio silence. Zero communication. Zero accountability. Zero professionalism. I submitted a request online for a specific vehicle that appeared to be a good deal ($67K) and was told that it was available. When I showed up 24 hours later, (after multiple calls and emails from the dealer confirming my visit and in which no-one mention the car was no longer available); the car was no longer available and the ones available for purchase where the ones at regular price ($82K) ... shocking... Two hours later I received an obvious automated system-generated communication "from the sales rep", sharing a vehicle with the same initial low price, but different color... clearly a systematic approach to luring people with false lower prices into the dealer; basic bait and switch. Very shady way of bringing people in, I wonder what else they might do... read more

I recently purchased a vehicle through Patrick Volvo after pursuing several different avenues for funding that did not work out. I had recently emerged from bankruptcy (during which I gave up my old car yet still needed a reliable car), so finding someone that was able to work with me--- either online or at a dealership-- was extremely difficult. I was just about to give up hope until I visited Patrick Volvo. Not only did they secure funding for me, it was for my top choice vehicle and when I didn't have the down payment required by the lender, they were able to somehow get that down payment reduced by more than half. I could tell that this was not an easy process for them, but they were determined to make it work, and they did. In just a few short hours I drove out of the dealership with my new car after feeling certain it was hopeless just a few hours earlier. I leased a vehicle from Patrick Volvo in December 2024. The salesperson I worked with, Claire C, was very knowledgeable and helpful. I drove in from out of state to test drive the car, and she was very responsive both before I arrived and after, which is much appreciated. Claire is 5/5 stars. The rest of the experience, less so. I was at the dealership for about 6 hours. I arrived for my test drive at the arranged time, drove it shortly thereafter, but I think in part because Claire was helping another customer at the same time, waited hours to begin the leasing paperwork, and then hours more before signing everything with the finance manager. There were several other people in the dealership talking with one another, but I sat by myself while Claire tried to bounce back and forth between me and her other customers, nobody else stepping in to assist. It is now 3 months later, and Patrick Volvo still has not submitted the title information to my state's DMV. Claire has continued to be responsive to my inquiries about this, though I am not sure why she has to be the middle-person in this scenario. Incredibly frustrating that I have not been able to register the vehicle yet. read more

In fact they hung up on me while I was over 1000 miles away on a road trip with a 10 month old baby in the car. This was going to be a great review, but unfortunately, I feel like the good service at Patrick ended the moment I signed on the dotted line for my new car (which I love). I was in the market for a new car, had planned to order an S60 Recharge from Howard Orloff (great experience by the way!), had a deposit down and everything, but unfortunately my circumstances changed and I couldn't wait for a car, so I went searching for in stock models and Patrick had a bunch of new 23 XC40's that had just arrived. I had some friends who got their car from Patrick and said great things about their experience, so I drove out from Lakeview to Schaumburg on a Thursday (10/13) night to have a look at their stock. I found a model I liked (Black with the Blond interior....gorgeous!!!) and came to terms with my sales associate (Mo) and finance guy in short order (they even took $$$ off MSRP which was a pleasant surprise). Before heading out to Patrick I saw on their website they have this whole section "At home or in-store, we're here for you" - talking about how you can test drive at home, how they do home delivery and will even come to your house to pick up your car for maintenance! So when it came time to leave on Thursday night after signing all the paperwork, I asked if they could deliver the car to me in Lakeview the following day, Mo said this would be fine because the car needed a software update that would take a few hours anyway, but after checking with his boss, he asked if I could catch an Uber back out instead and they would reimburse me for the cost, as they didn't have enough staff to drive the car out to me. This wasn't a problem so I agreed. Friday comes round, they still hadn't done the software update, so asked if I could come out on Saturday (10/15), no biggy, what's one more day without my car! So I Uber out on the Saturday, do a little walk around with the sales associate and jump in the car and off I go. Loved the drive home, however when I got home I noticed that the all-season rubber floor mats were missing, so I contacted Mo on the Sunday (10/16) and also sent along the receipt for my Uber ride from Lakeview out to Schaumburg for reimbursement as requested by the dealership ($56). I asked if someone could deliver the floor mats to me at my office in Rosemont, which is only 20 minutes from the dealership, save me having to drive even further out of my way to get something that should have been in the car to start with. I did not receive a response from Mo, so I followed back up on 10/19, he told me to drive out to the dealership to pick them up...another trip out to Schaumburg! I asked about the money for the uber, he didn't have the paperwork processed yet, but would soon. Mo reached out on 10/27, says he has lost the receipt, asks me to resend, which I do. I follow up with him on 10/31, 11/9, 11/18 and 11/30 and I have still yet to receive the refund for my uber ride. I have given up at this point. Now I get it, it's $56, big deal...but it's really the fact that the customer service disappeared as soon as I signed my contract....no car delivery to me, even though advertised on the main page of their website....missing floor mats and I had to drive out and pick them up....and still $56 out of pocket for not receiving a service that they advertise on their website! I will not be coming back to Patrick, nor will I be recommending them to anyone. I will take all future business and car sales to Howard Orloff where I should have just waited and purchased my car from to begin with. Disappointing experience. read more

I appreciate the safety precautions they're taking, and the space is well maintained and clean. The people working there are very nice as well. The hours are largely inconvenient for service. It says online that service is open until 6:30, but when I arrived, I was told that the mechanics are there until 4:30. For the type of service I needed, it was estimated that it would take an hour, so I'd need to arrive by 3:30. This is not feasible with my work schedule. I asked about weekend appointments, and he said that fewer mechanics are there around then. It makes me wonder how I could make an appointment when I don't want to miss work. In the mean time, I will stick with Fields or Orloff. read more

Who has nightmares of buying a new car? We just sold our Nissan Rogue which every month needed to be serviced, even though we didn't drive it cause of Covid-19 and in home quarantine. Well it was time to go car shopping...we decided we needed a car with reliability. We looked at Car and Driver and everyone else...Volvo!!! We went to Patrick Volvo just to test drive a car. We were greeted by Tola Akinola, I don't know the guy, but let me tell you his friendliness and knowledge of what he had on the lot was apparent. What do you do when you're car shopping (don't let them know you want the car.) anyways we were talking and we say we want to test drive the car he says he needs an ID and me and my wife were off. There's a lot of Volvo dealers around,but no one has a Tola. He made the car experience so easy and comfortable. We actually waited one day to buy because we had to test drive a competitor. But we knew after all the test drives we wanted the Volvo. We called and asked for Tola and made arrangements to meet the next day. The next day we came and we found out Tola came on his off day! Long story short he made the experience so easy and great! Mind you the finance and contract decisions isn't on him, we know we have to deal with the sales and finance people, but for sales ask for Tola Akinola cause he's awesome!!! This dealership will make your life complicated. A simple request for an estimate takes hours! We approached the dealership via Costco's auto program. We weren't provided a quote on the phone so we had to stop by in person. If you are Indian, you will be passed on to an Indian car salesman who will ask for your social security, drive license, address, credit card, ex-girlfriends and their addresses before he shows or gives you an estimate! I had clearly explained to this moron that I am not interested in driving any cars but rather just wanted to get a quote/estimate. Despite that, he insisted on getting my driver's license and told me, "it's our policy to obtain drivers license before providing any quotes!" That explanation was sufficient for me to walk out of this place. On my way, I asked another salesman if this was a normal practice / policy and he said "yes, it is!" By no means, you need a drivers license to get a damn quote! I bet this Indian salesman takes advantage of immigrants by making up his own crap. Avoid this place and instead go to another Volvo dealership nearby! read more

I purchased my first Volvo today and it was a great experience. I got a S60, just had it a few hours, but I love it. The people at Patrick Volvo were excellent. It's a small dealership, but I think it works because they are able to give the personal service that is needed. I've been to a lot of dealerships and I can say this is a No Pressure dealer. They let me take a test drive by myself. They let me time my time with the car. And when it came to finances, they wanted to know what I could afford and fit me to the vehicle in my budget. There was no back in forth with the finance guy, no this is the best deal we can give you, or waiting for our while they stall for lack of a better term. Let's talk about my salesman Tola Akinola. One of the BEST salesman I have worked with in any company. Friendly, knowledgeable, and effective. He always had a smile on his face. When we connected via phone he was kind and professional. He knew I was working and emailed me as to not interrupt me. And then called when appropriate. When i asked him about the cars he knew all the ins and outs. I went home and did some research and all his information was correct. He is an excellent employee and very good person. Please avoid. They'll sell you a car and then absolutely forget about you. I have been trying for a month to get complete paperwork on my vehicle and find out who financed my vehicle. They refuse to respond or provide such info. What are they hiding? I have sent numerous emails where they promise to get back to me, they don't. Just a totally abysmal experience. I've never written a review before, but Patrick Volvo needs to be called out. For all the wrong reasons. I was in the market for a new car and found the make/model I was looking for at Patrick through AutoTrader. After a couple of emails and a phone call, I was convinced Patrick was a credible dealer, so I agreed to buy the car and flew to Chicago to complete the purchase, pick up the car and drive home (about 6 hours). That's when the disappointment started. The car is a plug-in hybrid, but it wasn't charged for my arrival. That should have been a red flag. The car is a year old, with 8,000 miles, so I was provided a CarFax report but, frankly (my bad), I only scanned it, because the salesman told me he was the person who sold the car the year before and it was in great shape. I came to find out later that the engine had been replaced. I'm not a mechanic but that seems like something that should have been revealed before I flew down. Anyway, I bought the car and began driving home. About an hour from home, the car broke down. I had to pull off the highway, call the Volvo 24-hour support line (they were great) and arrange to have the car towed to the Volvo dealership in my town. That dealership fixed the issue, which apparently stemmed from the work done by Patrick in replacing the engine. They also noticed that the car wouldn't charge properly and fixed that problem as well. I kept Patrick informed of my issues and they conveyed empathy and offered to cover my out-of-pocket costs, which were around $500 (the work done by my local Volvo dealer was covered under my maintenance agreement so my expenses primarily related to car rental when my Volvo was in the shop). However, after I sent Patrick my receipts for those costs a month ago, it's been radio silence. And that's from both the salesman and the manager of used car sales. My advice to anyone thinking about buying from Patrick Volvo is DON'T. read more

I took my C70 to Patrick Volvo because it was setting off transmission error codes and would go into limp mode. They cleaned the transmission terminals and the car continued to set off transmission error codes and go into limp mode. i took it back and they wanted to throw parts at it to fix the problem (ECM, TCM). I pulled it out of their shop and had it properly diagnosed, turns out the transmission solenoids were bad. If this Volvo dealer couldn't even properly diagnose my car, what do you think will happen when you bring in your Volvo. Avoid this place like the plague. read more

Contacted this dealership regarding potentially purchasing a CPO vehicle and was told to fill out a credit app. At the time Volvo Financial was special financing on CPO vehicles and with my credit score I knew I would be approved. So I waited 3 hours for a finance manager to contact me back only to be told I qualified for 4 or 5% all the while the finance manager was telling me that's the best he could do. Never once (according to my credit tracking apps) did he run me through the prime lender. I then contacted international auto in Orland Park and in 10 minutes after submitting a credit app I was approved at 0.99 and 1.9%, depending on the term. Needless to say that's where I purchased the car from. Moral of the story, know what your credit is and your worth. Don't let these guys screw you over. On a side note the sales rep that I dealt with was very friendly and helpful. BUT the entire experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I will just say this JOSE lost a 39k deal for your dealership by not performing his due diligence. read more
