Super random note: They have so many photos of cats on the walls and we LOVED it so much! I think the cats belong to the owner and it's so cute seeing all the adorable pictures. We came at 8am when the opened, on a Saturday morning and had no problem getting a table. They have about 8 outdoor tables and are very well spaced - I felt safe eating there. The menu is simple diner food - inlets, pancakes, etc. I got an omelet that was pretty good but maybe nothing to write about home. The bacon was not all cooked and some of it was still pretty limp and gross. Potatoes were fine. Bread was fine. My husband got pancakes that looked pretty good. Prices were good, especially for the city. Breakfast was $40. It wasn't anything fancy but service was good, it felt safe to eat at, and the food was good enough. No complaints here. read more

Pat's Cafe is great for breakfast and I'd come here again. I like it. It's very authentic, small and reminds me of the 1990s for some reason. It's probably all the decor, the arrangement of things that gave me that vibe. The breakfast was good. I just wished it would be served hot next time I come here. The potatoes weren't even luke warm. Lovely little breakfast find in North Beach just off Columbus in San Francisco. So glad Yelp directed us to this spot and we avoided the hour-long-wait-outside-of-a-pretentious-breakfast-place gig. Yay Pat's and yay Yelp. Pat's is a down home little restaurant north of a diner and slightly south of a fancy breakfast spot with favorites from omelettes and eggs, pancakes, waffles and lots of things in between. Ultimately went with an old California favorite, Joe's special which didn't disappoint. Sampled the California omelette from across the table which was cheesy and delicious. Agree with some of the previous commenters that even though they are corralled by a red-vest-wearing Pat, the staff seems a bit lackluster and because I wanted decaf wound up eating my breakfast without a 2nd cup of coffee. My partner and I decided to get a quick breakfast bite here after perusing Yelp for awhile. My partner ordered a coffee and Joe's Special and I ordered an iced coffee and veggie hash without egg or cheese. In terms of food, everything was delicious and well-cooked. The potatoes were crispy and well seasoned and the vegetables in my veggie hash were cooked to perfection. If you want a reliable, yummy and satisfying breakfast experience then this is definitely the place to choose. In terms of overall customer experience, my partner and I were lucky to be served by the owner of the restaurant, Pat herself! She was a delight to speak to and her workers were also very friendly. She has the cutest dog who follows her around the store. I asked for my iced coffee to have some vanilla in it and she made sure it wasn't too sweet. I stepped away to use the restroom but my partner was able to chat with her and appreciated how welcoming and easy she was to converse with. The restaurant itself definitely gives off a homey, neighborhood staple-vibe. Pat told my partner she was born and raised in SF! I had to have 2 shots in my latte. They couldn't make it 1.5 shots. My oatmeal was like thick tasteless dry cardboard. I had to add milk but even then it wasn't great. My daughter ordered a side of fruit which cost $8.70 and there were a few slices of banana, some blueberries and mostly chopped up strawberry. Charming little mom and pop local cafe! We popped into Pat's on a Sunday at 10 am without a reservation (I don't think they take them). A little notepad sits on the front counter and parties are seated in the order they sign into the notepad. I noticed several tourists had made their way to Pat's with maps and vacation guides. I'm glad they found a charming and unique place such as this instead of all the chain garbage at the Wharf! After being greeted and writing down our names to be seated, we waited about 5 minutes-- pretty minimal in this city for brunch! Service was friendly and prompt once we sat down. Coffee was served while we perused the menu. I ordered the crab cake Benedict. The crab cake was a slightly overcooked but the perfectly poached egg and excellent hollandaise sauce made up for it. I had a great time stopping into pat's cafe, the ambience was serene and the food was up to par, let's chat more ... FOOD : all of their options seemed fabulous. I ended up getting the California omelette with an English muffin and fresh berries on the side. They gave you the BEST fruit. I HATE getting slumped on with the fruit when I go to restaurants, always giving me cantaloupe or honey dew melon.... come on people. But, Pat's gives you the top of the line berries : strawberries, blueberries, and half a banana came for my side and I was overjoyed. Okay, moving on to the real stuff. I loved my omelette. It was a pretty big portion, not to mention they were not at all modest about the avocado. Most places only give you one to two slivers of an avocado, Pat's gives you over half of an avocado... yes, nearly a whole avocado. I was shook. It was glorious. Inside the omelette is also chicken apple sausage, mushroom, and onion. The chicken apple sausage was absolutely incredible, it gave the plate flavor like no other. I was so please with how the flavors meshed together, and on top of that, I left feeling slightly full but not stuffed, which is a positive. The only down side for me was the onions... they were also not modest about those, but I'm not a big onion fan, and these onion chunks were no joke. All in all, my plate was fantastic. SERVICE : the woman who was working was extremely kind and servant hearted. She made me feel welcome and wanted. On the other hand, the man who was working made me feel like a bit of a nuisance, a fly on the wall, and someone he just needed to hurry up and serve to get out. I was alone, I am not a fussy or petty person, so I'm not sure what it was about me that he didn't like, but it's okay, I suppose. He seemed kind to everyone else... The service wasn't bad, could have been better, but it happens. ATMOSPHERE : they have the door open and the breeze coming in which I loved. It's an old school shop that is just really homey. They have old school jazz / blues playing and the restaurant just has that warmth to it. I liked that about this place, even if you were alone you felt at ease, accompanied. My experience at Pat's was great, the food is a bit pricey, but I'm from Omaha so I'm not used to paying $17 for an omelette. But, it was definitely worth it and they didn't try and skimp you on a dime, you get a full portion of food cooked to perfection. I'll be back! read more

I LOVE Pat's Cafe!! I've walked past several times over the last 2 years but it never was a good time for me to stop until last week when my daughter & her hubby were visiting from Thailand. I have always wanted to try Pat's because I hear/see the staff out their every morning, scrubbing the sidewalk and the parklet and making everything tidy & presentable for their customers. We ate inside and it was very nice and comfy. I was SUPER impressed with the friendly staff and quick service. I had a great cappuccino w/a little on the top and delivered back to our table so quickly. They took our food order quickly and our meals were served just a few minutes later. I had the Eggs Benedict and it was delicious. My son-in-law had the pancakes w/sausage and really liked it too. My daughter had the biscuits & gray and she too enjoyed her meal. Such a quaint lil local spot. The staff functions like a team so someone is always topping of the coffee and never letting it get cold. The multitasking doesn't skip a beat - they will greet you, seat you, clean a table and make a cappuccino in a blink. Now the food...YUM! My blue berry pancakes popped in my mouth and the poached egg was cooked to perfection! The hubs had the French toast which was good but would have loved to have had the powdered sugar on it. We stayed at the Marriott, which is about 1/4 mile from Pat's Cafe. We arrived at 8:15am on a Thursday and were promptly greeted and seated by the waiter. Our coffee was delivered almost as soon as we ordered and and was piping hot. We ordered a savory crepe, pancakes, a Mexican breakfast and a number of a la carte items. Everything came out at the same time and was piping hot. The portions were large enough that we should have shared a meal or two.
