We found Patsy's when we were unable to be seated at one nearby and we were so glad we did. We ordered a round of hand crafted cocktails which were amazing. They reminded the table of drinks made before the bar world had mixes. We began our meal with a salad fried green tomatoes, which IMHO is a risky dish, as it is amazing when done well but many northern Chef's miss the mark. We were worried Bethany was to far north to order this wonderful dish, we were wrong and treated to an amazing version of a comfort food classic. Next we ordered the eggplant, which was equally as good. Yum. When we ordered we wanted to have the dishes come as an appetizer and then an entree, but Patsy's told us we would have to pay a split fee of $8 (on a $24 dish) to have it served after the fried greens and salad. We appreciated the warning and opted to have all delivered at once. It made for a crowded table, and we still ate our appetizers first and then the main meal. Nice evening! read more

We had dinner tonight and I really can't say enough great things. We arrived with 3 children and they were immediately given a card game to occupy them. Every staff member took time to greet the kids, interact, and make them feel special. They all greeted my son's stuffed animal "turtle" as well lolol. The atmosphere was homey and very inviting. We took the waitress up on her recommendations and ordered the specials for appetizer and dinner. Everything was delicious. The kids all loved their kids steak dinners. Drinks, key lime pie martini and coconut margarita was great! My husband enjoyed his Manhattan. Dessert was a huuge piece of chocolate cake which the kids devoured and a deliciously tart piece of key lime pie. We enjoyed the entire experience and will be back. The worst restaurant experience we've had in the town of Bethany. We've been coming to Bethany for 15 years and everyone said try Patsys. HUGE mistake. Floor manager was rude and treated us like idiots. We secured same day reservations at 5:30am to insure a table for 8 with an infant. They were not aware of us having an infant and we were stuck six inches from bar and told we could not put his car seat down. They actually recommended we put it "under" the table. Lol. The waitress tried to provide options and was super nice as if it was a very normal adjustment, but the unfriendly floor manager trumped her ideas and basically gave us no choice but to leave. The floor manager was so nasty to my daughter we just quietly got up and left. It was difficult to hold our tongues and not to reply as rudely as she was speaking to us. Very sad. This place demonstrated Zero class. We all dressed up and were so excited to try a new place and were left to feel unwelcome and inferior. Very shameful and disappointing behavior. I would not recommend any one to try this place period! Especially if you are with kids or infants avoid this place at all costs. It felt like we walked into a country club full of snobs and weren't members of the club. Definitely not family oriented. After having a place new Bethany for nearly 9 years, we figured it was time to try Patsys. It did not disappoint. We arrived before 5:30 lined up and wondered how they could open and seat the long line of people and serve them efficiently, they explained they'd seat 4 tables then pause for servers to catch up then they'd keep seating in groups. That strategy worked perfectly. We had the conch fitters which were nicely seasoned crunchy and very tasty. I had the seared scallops which were perfectly cooked with a delicious mango salsa and coconut jasmine rice. My partner had the strip steak which was perfectly cooked. We splurged on the chocolate cake which was giant enough for 2 and was amazing. Look forward to going back. We did learn they take call ahead seating! read more

Sadly, my husband and I were disappointed with our recent dinner. I had high hopes as I've heard lots of good things about Patsy's...that's why we decided to try Patsy's for my birthday dinner. I got the FB advertised crabby BLT with fixins and soft crab, crab cake, and 2 fried shrimp. The shrimp was delicious, the soft crab okay, and the crab cake was NOT the quality of a Maryland crab cake (what I was expecting). It came with a small basket of fries. I also got the featured blueberry & coconut margarita, which was okay. My husband got the mahi mahi, which was okay, and a small portion...it didn't even come with a side or a starch/accompaniment. Had a reservation for last night at 7:00 and when we arrived at the restaurant at 7:00 was told it would be a 20 t0 25 minute wait. We asked why and was told we could eat inside immediately. That was fine We were seated and the server brought water and menus. That is when things went bad. We sat there for 20 minutes and the server ignored us. It is a small restaurant and nobody would come to our table We went to the hostess and said she said sorry but didn't offer to help so we left. This used to be one of our favorite restaurants in Bethany. Great fresh seafood, nice staff, and good atmosphere. Unfortunately, the last time we came the staff informed us of a "swipe fee" when it was time to pay for our check. Our waitress tried to explain it by saying that credit card companies recently changed their policies and started charging more. It is very poor service for a restaurant to put the credit card fee on the consumer. This is part of running a restaurant and it was disappointing to see this type of service from a restaurant we really used to enjoy. Hopefully the restaurant fixes this! I have been many many times but this last time this swipe fee incident left us with a negative feeling. read more

A+ for Patsy's. We enjoyed most of the meals we had while in Bethany Beach for a long weekend, but if I could only come back for one restaurant Patsy's would be it. We sat outside on their very cute porch; it was a little chilly so they had a space heater going, which helped. Our server was great; he was attentive, friendly, and helpful throughout the meal. We started with the calamari, which was pretty good. Our entrees were definitely the stars of the show though. My fiancé had the crab cakes and really enjoyed them. They were almost all crab and were super flavorful. I had the cioppino, and it was probably the best cioppino I've ever had. It was also a huge portion! We made it a priority since they offered local and organic. We went early (which is recommended) and were seated promptly inside (recommended in the heat). They have patio seating FYI. It's not very spacious inside as tables are close to each other but they set us up at a table that was a little more roomy so we can set up our portable highchair. Our waitress turned out to be the bartender. She was very friendly, so much so she held and played with my son while we finished our meal...that's service! We started with a beer and their coconut alcoholic drink which the name escapes me. Since it was Key West themed we decided on the Key West Conch Fritters (Chopped conch, battered & fried golden with a spicy chipotle pepper aioli - $12 and you get about 5). They were a little chewy but overall I enjoyed them. The wife, eh. For entrees: Cuban Pork (for me) - Traditional Cuban slow roasted pork with black beans, yellow rice, pickled red onions & plantains - $23. Needed a little more seasoning. Beer Battered Fish Tacos - Beer battered mahi, a with avocado/tomato salad, red cabbage slaw with cilantro sour cream - $21. Actually enjoyed these better. Overall service, food and prices were good. I've been eating at this restaurant for about a decade. Every time has been amazing throughout the years. My understanding is that this place started as a gourmet food counter, serving exotic things like ostrich meat, and buffalo. Whatever they've done to themselves--it's great! It's a small restaurant with a porch, and a dining room inside with a small bar. The decor is key west inspired. Outside, there are beautiful hand painted "murals" all in bright pastels and Key West themed. On the inside there's an eclectic mix of beautiful colorful artful, a bit of a hen theme, and more key west art. I recommend sitting on the patio if you can, weather permitting. They do not take reservations and open at 5:30. They use to have a brunch but aren't doing that this season. Let me get to the food! Amazing, amazing conch fritters. That's right- I said conch fritters. Conch meat fried in a divine light dough. Try it. Thank me later. The soft shell crab is ALWAYS on point. Crisp and light. It's out of this world. The crab soup is very good, as well. Also, if you get a chance, try the red snapper. It's an entire red snapper flown in from Florida, lightly fried. It is soooo good. The tuna has also always treated me well here. Really, you can't go wrong. Wrap up the meal with a piece of their fresh key lime pie. If you're not already a key lime pie person, this will turn you into one. Graham cracker crust and fresh lime zest! You won't regret it. Lastly, the house made cocktails are all so delicious. As you can guess, my favorite is the key lime pie martini. It is exactly like drinking a piece of key lime pie in alcoholic heavenly form. We were excited to dine at Patsy's. We had made a reservation a few weeks ago during our planned weeklong trip to Bethany. We stopped by the evening before to see if we could change our reservation for five to a later time and request outdoor seating. We were told that the time worked and they would do their best to satisfy our al fresco request. We arrived 15 minutes early for our 8:15 reservation and waiting patiently. The hostess took five minutes to acknowledge us but gave us a nice surprise with an outdoor table. We were thrilled! Excited to be outside to enjoy the comfortable evening and reduce our chances of potential exposure to Covid 19. As we settled into our seats and began perusing our menus considering drinks and food choices the hostess came back several minutes later. She informed us she had made a mistake by seating us outside. She had promised the table to another party. She asked us to move to an inside table. Not a great way to begin our meal at a restaurant with $30+ entrees. I understand this can happen. Given one week away with my family every event/meal takes on greater significance. I wish we were more flexible but this threw me off. I've had situations like this happen before and the best restaurants and staff know what good service means. They know how to make customers still enjoy themselves despite events out of their control. A free cocktail. Courtesy appetizer on the house. Something would have been very much appreciated. I considered saying something to the hostess but I shouldn't have to. The dinner was forgettable. Food was fine. The tuna entree was skimpy. Basically a noodle dish with some tuna. Fried whole snapper was dry. Crab cakes were pretty good. Waitress was friendly and responsive. I'm sure my thoughts would have been more positive had the hostess made a small gesture to make sure our dining experience was a good one. We had the conch fritters, excellent rivaled Clearwater, Florida where they are the best in the country. then we had a wedge salad excellent as well and the crispy chicken skin bits yay. Our entree was the catfish so good. Service our server was very good only fail is we shared the entree and he did not bring us an extra plate or silverware. But he's excused because the food was beyond good and he was attentive. It might be more of a function of short staffing then If you have never been please go. Stopped in Patsy's on 9/12/19 when 14 Global was closed. We had seen reviews on Yelp earlier in the week, so I was expecting a great meal! Well...we had the Caesar salad--dressing tasted like it was fresh from a bottle and the "homemade croutons" immediately made me think of stale Christmas biscotti; and conch fritters--no flavor and the conch was rubbery. For the main course, crab cakes--full of crab with little filler, but also very little flavor. There was a "remoulade" that had a green herb that tasted very much like mint; and the fish tacos--well cooked tilapia, but again little flavor, black beans and yellow rice with no flavor. I do have to say that salt and pepper would have helped, but there were no shakers on any tables. Are you that confident that your customers will not need to adjust the seasoning to their taste?? Sometimes I wonder if: 1.) My tastebuds are more fine tuned than those of others, 2.) If I've just been lucky in my life to have experienced GREAT food; 3.) I have eaten here for years and I have always been in love with the service and food, but I was hesitant to come back after turning vegan. My worries were completely unfounded due to the great attention and care shown by the servers and the kitchen. Patsy's is definitely a great experience for herbivores and carnivores alike. I ate the spicy gazpacho and edamame as an appetizer, both vegan. The gazpacho was deeply flavorful, and as spicy as billed, and had lovely little chunks of veggies which gave it a more appetizing texture. The edamame was good, but how can you go wrong there? I came in expecting to go for a salad as my entrée but found myself hungrier than usual. The server, Justin, and the kitchen (with Robin in charge) were INCREDIBLY accommodating and created an eggplant dish for me (not the one on the menu because that has an egg wash). I never expect that sort of bending over backwards for my veganism- I try to be as easy as possible- but they were really great and made me feel at home. Plus, it was freaking delicious! My family enjoyed the special Sunday Fried Chicken, which is a classic, and the seafood selection. The bar made some great drinks- I would personally go for the Mile Marker Zero if you like drinks that are less sweet. I would say this is the best restaurant in Bethany Beach. Before I was vegan, I was head over heels for the magical vegetarian stuffed poblano pepper- if you aren't vegan please give that a try! read more

A group of seven of us rolled up on a wet May Sunday for brunch. We were the only patrons, but it was a pre-Memorial day visit and it was raining. The menu had a lot of interesting options, from three different kinds of eggs benedict to some chilaquile-type dish to fried chicken. The prices were a little high (dishes were around $10-$16) but not too crazy. The sides of cheese grits and sweet potatoes were interesting (but were not as unusual and delicious as they sounded). My eggs benedict with crab was good, but cold. Another eggs benedict orderer had the same complaint. But the people who got the fried chicken got their dishes at the perfect temperature. Yes, we had a group of seven, but come on, we were the only restaurant patrons. The fried chicken was good but nothing to rave about. The waffle (fried chicken comes in two options, a half fryer or a couple pieces with a waffle) was crisp and light. Mimosas and bloody marys were well made and tasty, and they kept the coffee coming. I'd come again if I were staying within walking distance, but not as an out of the way drive. read more

We went into this place with really high expectations considering the reviews here and then reading Patsy's own promotional literature about the qualifications of the chef. And based on the REALLY high prices in the menu, you'd think Bobby Flay was in the kitchen. I'd say we were quite disappointed. The house salad was ok, nothing great. Then we had the crab chowder and that blew our socks off. It's worth coming here just for the chowder. I then had the fried chicken which was average fare. My wife ordered a noodle dish off the specials and it too was average. We topped off our dinner with a very pricey chocolate cake. It was dry and tasteless. Maybe if the prices were half of what they were, I'd give them 4 stars but for the prices you're paying, you expect Angelina Jolie but instead you get Laura Bush. read more
