The restaurant was kindly able to accommodate us the night of our reservation and gave us a table for 6. The staff was friendly and had a sense of humor. Wonderful atmosphere and a perfect meal. The overtly negative reviews are quite simply wrong. The only "problems" I've ever had are a few weak cocktails ( which I heard coincided with a subbed-in bartender) and waiting too long for a table. If I get another weak drink, I'll probably have to come back and dock it a star to be accurate. The fish tacos are well constructed and generously portioned. Whole snapper looks amazing, and my buddy confirmed. It's fresh. They go out of their way to get the freshest fish, even driving south to meet one particular supplier who won't drive past some particular mile-marker. It's a nice taste of Key West in Bethany, and you should absolutely give it a shot for an extended-stay porch-front dinner after a day in the sun. read more

My family was recently in Bethany for an entire week, and our dinner at Patsy's was easily the best food we had on vacation. The interior space is *very* small (outside seating is also available) and we were unfortunately seated right below an air conditioner set on "arctic tundra" but the waitstaff was very accommodating and turned the unit down when we asked. The menu runs to the pricey side, but the food was exquisite and the drinks and desserts were excellent. I had the Cuban Pork, which was mouth-meltingly good, though it and the black beans that came with it were spicier than what I would consider normal for cuban cuisine -- very tasty though and not spicier than we could handle. They even manage to serve a Key Lime Pie for dessert that reminds you of what Key Lime Pie *should* be and so rarely is. The waitstaff was excellent and showed a great knowledge of the menu -- something I appreciate as my daughter has an egg allergy and so we often have to ask about ingredients and preparation. At most restaurants we have to go through a whole game of telephone with the waitstaff and the kitchen, but here they knew the answers to all our questions. read more

My wife and I had an excellent meal at Patsy's last night. Our appetizers were excellent - corn crab chowder and grilled peaches. The entrees - shrimp and grits and eggplant stack - were also really good. We were so full we passed on dessert. The service was spot on and attentive. This place is a 5 minute walk from where we stay in Bethany. So along with Sedona and Blue Coast, these are our nicer go to date nights in Bethany, if we aren't schlepping up to Blue Moon in Rehoboth :). All in all highly recommended. read more

I have been going to Patsy's Restaurant for the past three summers during my family vacation with my boyfriend, and we love it! Patsy's definitely lives up to its self proclaimed "casual bistro" label, as it's a great place to splurge on a more refined, yet laid back dinner. The atmosphere can be described as romantic, cozy, and beachy--I definitely recommend dining on the porch! Every time I go, I have to get the conch fritters and the grilled peaches with goat cheese and prosciutto for appetizers. What Patsy Does, She Does Right With a menu that captures the spirit of the family Delaware shore town of Bethany Beach but is not overwhelming and yet offering a substantial number of choices (heavy on seafood), we visited on a rainy cool night. Faced with a 30 minute wait for an inside table, we took a table on the very busy open porch. After a couple of customers attempted to roll down the plastic see through tarp, a waiter took over and. if not cozy at least dry. Our most personable server, Susan, was outstanding making her recitation of the specials sound like it was the first of the evening which at 7:00 pm was not the case. Her knowledgeable descriptions of the selections and her good nature responses to our questions made everything all the more tempting. My tablemate's pick of a duo of crusty soft shell crabs were cleaned out well and were accompanied by black beans and coleslaw earning it a rating of excellent. My 12 ounce NY strip steak was very good but delivered more towards medium than medium rare as requested and at $36 a bit pricey although it did have a few lettuce leaves and cherry tomatoes on the plate eliminating a need for a salad, I suppose. The inclusion of the small thin crusty fries liberally doused with spices were delightful. We all had one of the house specias, a delicious thick corn crab soup, perfect for a blustery evening. A friendly place (although the young hostess could have let loose with a welcoming smile as folks rushed to get in out of the rain), and a canopy over the entrance ramp would have been a nice touch as folks lined up to be seated. All in all, what Patsy does, she does right in offering creative touches to her slim but more than satisfying menu. We will be back (hopefully on a sunny day) and recommend it. read more

As someone who's worked in 5 star fine-dining for years, I like to think I can recognize and appreciate a good server when I meet one. But on the same token, I also have even more disrespect for a bad one. In all my years of dining out, never have I EVER experienced worse service than what Chris provided. He could not have been more rude from the moment we were seated, we never saw him between taking our order and dropping off our check. He never once checked on us while enjoying our appetizers, nor entrees. As he was about to grab our check, again without saying a word to us, I stopped him and addressed his attitude, asking if we'd done something to warrant his less than satisfactory service. At that point, instead of recognizing he was in the wrong, or simply apologizing even if he didn't believe he was, he told me "I worked at a steakhouse in Chicago for 2 years. Top in the country", though I'm still confused how this was pertinent information to me, and added on more snarky, sarcastic, downright rude commentary, finishing off with "cheers!" As he snatched the checkbook out of my hand and stormed off. I'm assuming there's a reason that job in Chicago didn't last more than 2 years and I'd be appalled if I ever return to this restaurant and see him still there. An absolute shame considering how good this restaurant's food is and how pleasant all the other staff are. I believe there is a special place in hell for people like Chris. If that doesn't tell you how bad the service was, I don't know what will. read more

My husband and I were unhappy with our recent dining experience at Patsy's last night, it's our first time dining here. We ordered a soup and a calamari & onions for starter. Soup was alright, the other had more fried onions than calamari. Took 50 minutes for the main courses. The lamb sirloin with Mediterranean chickpeas stew was okay. My rockfish fillet and clam in clams sauce was awfully salty, I couldn't finish the meal. I always enjoyed the crispy fried of fish skin and I was looking forward to this rockfish dish at Patsy's. We left the restaurant after more than an hour dining were not happy. We have had many fine dining experiences in Bethany and always enjoyed exceptional foods. But we left Patsy's without a positive dining experience - more just so so. read more

We didn't feel rushed- at all. Susan was an excellent, only wished she would speak slowly about the specials, nice wait staff, Dinner was very good. I had shared the Grilled Peaches with arugula salad with balsamic dressing. Yum yum. The bread could be better. For dinner my husband had the Baja Fish tacos and I had med/rare tuna salad- both very good. My drink was very good- I had Mt. Gay's Rum & Coconut water and my husband had the white passion fruit sangria (crazy about fruit cocktail drinks). And we shared a slice of Key Lime pie- very light. We did think about the chocolate cake- glad we didn't because it's huge. I went here with my family on an August rainy Sunday night and we had a great dinner here! We sat inside at the first table available even though I think it would have been cool to sit in the deck if it was nicer out. The inside decor was not that special it kind of felt like sitting in someone's beach house living room. The staff were really friendly and accommodating. We started out with some cocktails.. 2 of us had mojitos and my sister had the white sangria which was sooo good! It was so fresh and fruity I would definitely recommend it. The mojitos were good.. nothing that special, but they were refreshing. We tried the roasted corn and crab chowder which was realllyyy good and a good deal for $5 for a cup. My parents split the tomato and mozzarella salad which they loved. For dinner my mom had the crab cakes which are fantastic, my sister had the halibut which she said was really good and my stepdad and I had the blue fish which was really great as well! I would definitely recommend the blue fish because the sauce it came in with chick peas and spinach was so good and we both loved it! We will definitely be returning to this place in the future! We have been coming here for the past 4 years during our family vacation and are NEVER disappointed. They don't take reservations but have always been able to get our group of 9 a table together without waiting too long! Order the grilled peaches appetizer - incredible. All of their entrees are fantastic, but everyone in our group always rave about the lobster BLT and soft shell crab entree. They have a very impressive wine list and their cocktails are delicious! Try the peach martini and any of the sangrias - wow. Basically, you can't go wrong. Unfortunately I'm GF and can't enjoy the bread that comes out beforehand but our group always gets extra baskets - it's focaccia and supposedly to die for:) Thank you patsy's for yet again being one of the highlights of our vacation! read more

OK, after writing a fairly negative review and then a luke warm review it's only fair that I do a follow up based on our last couple of visits. The last two visits have been nothing short of spectacular! Wonderful appetizers, roasted figs stuffed with gorgonzola and drizzled with honey, a wonderfuly spicy shrimp martini. I was in Bethany this past weekend to celebrate the end of summer. On the way home, my buddy and decided to grab some dinner. We decided to go somewhere we never have gone before and Patsy's made the cut. We both turned out to be more than satisfied with our choice. He got the lamb entree and I got the crab cakes. We barely spoke to each other once the food arrived because we both too busy hungrily devouring our dishes. I'm a Maryland native, so I've had a lot of crab cakes in my day and have a pretty high bar for them. These were some of the best crab cakes I've ever had and they and their accompanying sides were cooked to perfection. I wish that we didn't have a long drive ahead of us or I would have partaken in some of their interesting looking drinks on their cocktail list. Also, it took a lot of my restraint to refrain from getting their famous key lime pie for dessert. The service was on point as well and the decor was cheeky. I will be back. read more

Patsy's is one of our "go to" restaurants in Bethany Beach. We go there at least twice (sometimes three times) every summer vacation. Start with the guacamole. It is just the right degree of spicy and the right consistency. The crab cakes are the best. Also try the softshell crabs. I had the fish tacos and enjoyed them thoroughly. The bread is to die for! I don't know how they do it. Hint: put some of the guacamole on a piece of bread. Wow! Wait staff is always helpful--more so than you would imagine--and friendly. You must eat here! read more

Did not have a reservation and the place was packed the night we dined there. The hostess found us a very nice table for two next to the bar. No wait. The bartender Pete had us laughing all night. We were very disappointed in the customer service we received from Patsy's this week. We made a reservation one week ago and called to confirm. They indicated that did they not have our reservation- despite taking it directly over the phone. They told us they could seat an hour later and then called to say sorry they could not take us at all. We had 4 out of town guests that we planned to host and Patsys did not offer any options. We will not eat there again. Since this happened an hour before we were to dine, we were unable to find an alternative and this ruined the evening for us. read more

My cousin and I had a delicious meal at Patsy's this summer. We ordered the fried green tomatoes for an appetizer, and they were very flavorful! For the entrée I ordered shrimp and grits. I've had shrimp and grits at many restaurants along the east and gulf coasts, and this is definitely top five. My cousin ordered the strip steak and thought it was good. Unfortunately we did not have great service this visit, but hey restaurants get busy, so I wouldn't use this service experience as a reason not to return as the food really was very good! read more
