I like the food, but I have yet to have a positive overall experience. There is NEVER enough people working, so you have to wait forever. They save tables for church to get out when customers are aready there there waiting, and they refuse to seat 2 people at a table being saved for 3 or more even with 4 of those tables available. She tried putting as at a two person high top that barely fits one plate instead. The last two times we've gone there we wound up leaving before being seen waiting for someone to come to the table. It could be so much better, but you have to properly staff so customers don't wind up waiting so long. And it's not a one time scenario where someone could have called out, it's literally been every time we've gone. read more

Went there for lunch because I read the great reviews. I ordered the veggie burger which was a grilled portobello mushroom with spinach and sun dried tomato. My mom ordered a chicken salad wrap. We were the only ones there and the waitress was very nice. Our food came and it was good but nothing special. My veggie burger was this little mushroom on a giant cold bun. Went there this morning for the first time for a Birthday breakfast. The wait for a table was about 15 minutes which was fine. There were only 2 servers for the whole place which was full on a Sunday morning) and the service suffered for it. All 3 plates we ordered were AMAZING!!!! but to have to wait nearly 40 minutes for your order is not acceptable. We sat at the counter so when our coffee's were not refilled I put the cups towards the back of the counter closer so the wait staff could see and they walked by 3X before they noticed and refilled. I would definitely would want to return for the food but hesitate because of the lack of staff. Looking at previous posts this is a trend that I hope is fixed. Really nice little place in Southington. We went for a late lunch and had the Hawk's Landing sandwich with fries. Delicious turkey sandwich with cranberry stuffing. Ok the english muffins are good, the food quality is slightly better than your standard breakfast place, but the prices can be absolutely ridiculous. I spent $50 on breakfast for me and the lady. She got a waffle, I got the special (eggs Benedict), and two coffees. This was also not my first time here and all previous visits were also not worth the extremely high bill. Keep your over priced english muffins! I'll be at a normal breakfast place spending no more than 15-25 dollars for my breakfast for me and the lady. If you like homemade hash, you have to try this place. We arrived on Sunday morning and had a short wait before we were able to get seated. It's a pretty small restaurant so they won't give a four top to a party of two. We ended up sitting at the counter which was plenty of room. For breakfast, we ordered hash Benedict and eggs & hash. Both came with the homemade English muffins which were very good. Portions were huge and I took half my meal home. Coffee was good and service was friendly. Outstanding service and food! The service has kind of an at home vibe, staff very friendly. Great unique menu items to try. Tried their breakfast flatbread (minus the bacon and ham/sausage... damn you Bri!) and it was still awesome, great light crunch to the flatbread with great toppings... must go back and try it the right way with the meats on it! The beef tenderloin and spinach eggs benedict was out of this world. Everything was cooked perfectly, definitely all house made and all fresh ingredients, and there was great flavor from each individual one. I would love to go back to try more unique benedicts that they have, and am intrigued to try their lunch and dinner menus also because they are always rotating their menus with new creative dishes. Had the build your own burger with a fried egg and mozzarella and sweet potato fries. Burger was super juicy, thick, and had the homemade taste. Wife had the tuna salad on their homemade english muffin which was excellent. We sat by the stair case and the pastry chef kept bringing desserts down to the cooler...very dangerous for the sweet toothed. We tried the lemon blueberry layer cake...awesome, and the gluten free devil dog cup cake...also awesome. The atmosphere is relaxing with monthly local artists exhibiting their works. I will say from the coffee to the desert, one of the best places to eat in Southington. I stop in at least once per week and Teresa is beyond friendly. WOW! We had Paul Gregory's prepare our Christmas feast and we got it all to go. They were totally accommodating with our dietary restrictions (no salt, garlic, etc). We had turkey breast and beef tenderloin with root vegetables, stuffing, mashed potatoes, pies, cheese cake, and other goodies. It was simply delicious. The beef was so tender. The quality and freshness were terrific. Our guests were very impressed. They could not have been more accommodating and even helped us out to the car with everything. I often come here for lunch and I have never had a bad experience. I order a sandwich off the menu of some sort, and they serve it up nicely in a to-go box with a side of ALMOST whatever you want... I'm stuck on the potato salad. I'll also often grab my dinner from the cooler in back, a lasagana in a metal tin or something. The cashier/I-think-one-of-the-owners knows and remembers my name, and often asks "the usual?" but I like keeping her off balance and bouncing around 3 or 4 of the menu choices. Everything on the menu looks great, even if its not to my personal taste. The pastries and other deserts look absolutely wonderful, but I just cant afford to go down that slippery slope... I stopped in to Paul Gregory's this morning for a sampling of their breakfast fare. The wife and I were promptly greeted by a friendly gentleman running things behind the counter. My first impression was that the space was nice and clean with a café style to it. They had bakery cases, a coffee bar, gelato, as well as a "grab and go" kiosk full of soups and sandwiches. There were a handful of customers, but it was not very busy. We pretty much had our choice of seating. After finding a seat our server brought us over the breakfast menus and took our drink orders. My wife went with an English muffin (made in-house) and some home fries, while I opted to try the corned beef hash with eggs over easy, as well as an English muffin. While we waited for our breakfast, we were treated to prompt drink refills and friendly conversation. It was not long before we were served our breakfast. I was greeted with three over easy eggs, cooked just right and served over the hash. The hash portion was large, and it was one of those rare occasions when corned beef hash looks appealing and tastes incredible. Onions, parsley, and potatoes, along with red, green, and yellow peppers combined with a slight char made this a memorable dining experience. My wife enjoyed her potatoes and found them to be cooked to her satisfaction as well. The English muffin was tasty as well. It was the first time that I've had an English muffin from a bakery, needless to say I noticed an incredible difference. While we were on the way out we decided to bring home a couple of their enormous cupcakes. Although we went through much deliberation, we decided on taking two Red Velvet cupcakes to go. Overall the service was friendly, the food was great, and the atmosphere felt relaxed and friendly. Our server/host made sure that our drinks never went dry and was a big part of why I gave Paul Gregory's a five star review. I felt that he genuinely enjoyed his job, and it reflected in his work. The corned beef hash, sausage,and English muffins that are made in house,are awesome. I do have to take off stars for the service. We were able to walk right in & get a table, so it was busy but not full to capacity. The service was so slow, not because the 2 (& only 2)waitresses that were on duty were slow, they did the best they could with what they had. I blame whoever decided to schedule only 2 wait staff on a Sunday morning. When 1 latte (and there were several while we were there) can disrupt the flow of service the rest of the seated customers recieve, then the staffing/schedule needs to be re-examined. I've spent less time at much busier places, even with a 15-20 minute wait to be seated. read more

I've only been to Paul Gregory's for breakfast, but every time we go it gets just a little bit worse, unfortunately. The first time was amazing. The portions are huge and we were very happy with our meal. I couldn't get over how awesome the English muffins are (and still can't). The second time the waitress was rather rude and it seemed like we were inconveniencing her just being there. This past weekend we went - my omelette was cold in spots, the potatoes were undercooked and my husband's hash was 90% potatoes with barely any meat. Had a nice brunch here. Got there about noon and it wasn't too busy. There is outdoor and indoor seating available. Had the lobster Benedict and solo French Toast. The Benedict was delicious the lobster was cooked perfectly and the hollandaise sauce was not too heavy. The eggs were a bit overcooked but the entire dish was delicious. I had it with spinach. They make their own English muffins which were very tasty. For dessert I had a piece of French toast, it was amazing. Light and fluffy just the right mix of sweet and savory. Highly recommend here for a little breakfast, but don't count on getting a nice Bloody Mary or mimosa, very light on the beverage choice. read more

This restaraunt is a piece o poop. The service was crap and the food could be cooked at home just as easily. Its a small restaraunt with minimal seating. It literaly took an hour to get our fricking food, and the waiter did not come once while we were waiting to update us on how our food was going or to ask us for refills. I was extremely thirsty by the tine our food came and i actually resorted to drinking syrup. Also while we were eatinf they still didnt even come over to check on us. The only time that we got a drink was at the beggining and nothing else dor the remaining hour and a half that we were their. Overall this restaraunt is theblast place i would go. Looked forward to trying this out in the new location with a gift card we received from a friend. Unfortunately, we were absolutely astounded by how awful an experience ensued. We had an awkward greeting upon entering, taking longer than it should have to be acknowledged & then were simply told to, "sit wherever you'd like," despite the sign clearly stating, "please wait to be seated," if dining-in. As we were walking over to then select a seat, another employee greeted us again and seemed confused that we were wandering to a table on our own - she then immediately went back to talking to other customers at another table as though she hadn't started to engage with us. We selected a seat & sat for several minutes (long enough to wonder if there was going to be a service quality problem) before someone finally brought over menus. The menus were simply loose pieces of paper, that seemed to have been utilized past their prime. We were asked for drink orders & each rqst'd a coffee. The coffees were delivered quickly, before adequate time to review the menu. We were asked if we were ready to order, or if we needed more time. We requested more time & continued reviewing the menus. We were ready to order within another 2-3mins, and pushed the paper menus to the side & drank our coffees. The server who brought the menus & coffees walked in & out of the dining room area several more times without even glancing over to us, and at one point started (& continued until complete) sweeping the area around the front service counter. We kept looking towards her trying to make eye contact/get her attention, to no avail. This went on for 10-15mins, during which we contemplated just leaving the $5 for the cost of the coffees & departing. Eventually, another server (or maybe bus-person, was hard to tell) was nearby clearing another table and we were able to make eye contact. She came over & asked if we were ready to order and, although we were about to leave at that point, we were hungry enough that we gave our orders. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, but now delivered by the original server. My bf's order was fine & he enjoyed his meal (eggs & hash) - he's a bit of a hash connoisseur & stated that he enjoyed the hash very much. My order was terrible; I ordered a cheddar cheese omelette & asked for a side of bacon, well-done. I received an overcooked (dryed, brown-edged throughout) omelette with a lump of cold cheese in the middle & no side of bacon. No one ever returned to check on us again after the food was dropped, so I suffered through picking around the somewhat edible parts of the omelette, the semi-decent home fries & the English muffin (which was served buttered by the kitchen, but a little dry still, with no addt'l butter or jams available to supplement.). We again waited an inordinately long amount of time for someone to return. The original server finally came & asked if we were done. We said yes, and she left our finished plates in front of us. Another long delay ensued, while we watched 3 employees chatting-it-up at the front counter & then saw the original server answer the ringing telephone (instead of preparing/delivering our check) while the other 2 employees stood by idly. Eventually the check was presented (by the 2nd person who had taken our order.) Upon seeing the gift card that we had placed on the table, which we intended to use, we were asked if it was purchased at the old or new location. We stated that it was from the old location & were then told that we couldn't use it today b/c of some issue with transferring it over in their system from the old location (not really sure why this is OUR problem.). We were told we could leave the card & our name/phone # & someone would get back to us to refund the card value, or we could use it another time or some such (I'm not an Atty, and for a $25 gift card, not worth wasting anymore of my time, but fairly certain there's a violation of CT gift card law in here somewhere.) We just paid via our own funds & departed. We will not return to dine-in. For having spent the time, effort & $$$, that I'm sure was no small feat, to move this business from it's former location into this new space, it's a shame that the ball has really been dropped on ironing out and delivering a concise service model that provides a positive customer experience. read more
