Came here to get lunch through the drive thru. I understand the long wait time in the drive thru as they make food to order and that really wasn't the problem. The problem was the "Make It A Combo" price. To add fried and drink to a burger is literally the same price as a burger. I ordered a cheese burger combo and on their menu it says the burger is $5.99 but making it a combo cost me $11.99, which they DO NOT have the "Make It A Combo" price on the menu anymore. It literally has tape over the price. $6 extra for fries and a drink?!?! We try to support local businesses instead of hitting big fast food chains but the price gouging is absurd. Unfortunately I will never be eating here again. The burgers aren't anything special. They taste fine but no wow factor to pay $12 for that meal. Warning any and all who come here. Be prepared to pay an arm and a leg for just an ok burger and really bland fries. read more

I've got to do it. I've got to give it 5 stars, especially since it's touted as being a fast food restaurant. We ate here for dinner upon arrival in LA and were pleasantly surprised. Burgers, sandwiches and one really good Greek salad! Fries and shakes were delish as well! No complaints. We decided to try it for breakfast and were equally as pleased. Every time I come to this place it is the same problem with the same cashier...Lupe. The issue is not the food, the food is decent, but the rude and hostile attitude of Lupe is enough to not come back again. For the past two years every time we go inside to order food at this location she looks unhappy, she grabs the credit card away from you, rude demeanor, no greeting or thanks and just overall a very unpleasant person. I will advise friends and family to avoid Paul's Place burgers since their business motto seems to be rude employees and no action taken. I hope that the owner and /or manager reevaluates the type of people they hire. If unpleasant customer service is what you seek, then go to this location and ask for Lupe because rest assured she will be rude and unpleasant. Update: Paul's place Instagram blocked me just for leaving a comment regarding this incident. Instead of taking action to a statement of bad service they resorted to blocking someone who patronized and do nothing? It makes sense now why they excel at bad service. Came here for dinner. Food is still as good as I remember. Had the Gyro salad with chicken. It was huge and really good. Ordered a side of tazeki, highly recommend. This salad was the same rice as the Greek. The difference? This one had a choice of grilled chicken or beef and has romaine lettuce. The Greek, no meat and iceberg. Why would anyone choose that? It's all about the fried zucchini. Those nice thick spears, topped with shredded parmesan! When I get that craving a few times a year, I'll cave in and go here. They also have yummy curly fries and offer a veggie burger. This is obviously not the place I come to for a healthy meal, but it's a yummy indulgence every now and then! It might cost a few cents more than the local grease pit down the street, but I think you get your money's worth. The service here is a step above regular fast food. They have real plates and forks, not a bunch of plastic stuff (unless you get it to go). They even have paper doilies on the plates! It's casual enough that the kids won't feel out of place and can get up for soda refills, but it's nice enough that you can tell they took the time to decorate and make the restaurant look nice. Here's the thing about Pauls Place, it is a burger stand that tries to do a little too much. They also offer sandwiches, salads, gyros, Mexican food, Greek chicken, etc., etc, They make a pretty decent salad there (I especially like their carne asada taco salad), but what I don't care for is their burgers. It's not that they taste bad, but at lunch time they try to stay ahead of the lunch rush, and pre cook a bunch of patties. More often then not, you end up with a cold burger, and not melted cheese. I had my doubts with their tag line of "Gourmet Fast Food" but I am a believer. Pauls goes a step beyond the usual mom and pop fast food joint food. The food here is fresh and made to order with quality ingredients. Not what I was expecting at all. Since they dont have a website I made a rash decision while standing at the counter and ordered the Fish and Chips (F&C for those not in the know). I was expecting some half ass, frozen fish stick type deal but what I got was probably one of the better F&C in Orange County. After being told by a Mysterious Stranger that Slapfish in HB had the worlds greatest F&C I have to let it be known that the F&C here is 10 x's better. Its not fishy, they actually use Cod, not some random fishy white fish and they give you more then enough to feed one person. I was glad that someone, who shall remain nameless but is mysterious and a stranger, turned me on to this place. Normally enjoy the place. But they just charged $6 for an order of fried zucchini that was only worth $2. Patti claimed it was normal order sized. I eat here a lot, and the zucchini is nicer that small or that overcooked. Then when Patti refunded me she rang it up again on my card, so charged me twice. I loudly said this is not normal size and one of the cooks turned around and nodded in agreement. To the owner, Patti is going to run your business to the ground. The fries are good (steak fries of course), not great, but they're not over seasoned/salted and they're cooked perfectly. If you like onion rings and fried zuchini, then spend the extra coin. It's worth it. The zucchini especially is fresh not flimsy. Burgers and chicken sandwiches, whether they're on regular buns or sourdough. whether they have bacon or cheese or avocado or not, will never disappoint. The portions are generous. Their food smells good on the plate, hell, it even smells good when you're at the intersection. Try whatever is on special, the menu is large so don't hesitate to ask for help if you have an idea of what you might want. they'll point you to the right selection. I came here for lunch one day. It wasn't busy at all, but it was nice to get into some AC and enjoy my lunch. I ordered the cheddar mushroom bacon burger with garlic fries. The service was pretty quick, they give you a number to bring with you to your table. The drinks are self serve. Overall the food wasn't too bad, it will fill anyone up, and all for less than $11. The burger was pretty bland, and it was smothered in oil that America might try and invade it. They should probably go with sharp cheddar, and season their beef better. The fries were pretty soggy, once again, too much oil will do that to food. I think my water had more flavor than my meal, or my tongue and nose weren't functioning that day. Love Pauls Place! We discovered it about 6 or so years ago and make it a point to visit when we drive down from the Bay Area. Their zucchini logs (as I call them) are huge and yet still they manage to get them cooked all the way through, absolutely delicious. I had the cheeseburger and fries combo last week which comes with enough fries for 3 people to eat. We will be back in town soon and stopping back by. As a first time customer, I was blown away at how friendly and nice the entire staff is. They went above and beyond for my daughter and made this feel like I was having breakfast at home with family.
