First off: Not an exclusively vegetarian restaurant, so fyi about the name. I ordered the Mapo Tofu combo, and the rice was amazing. Huge portions of food. Quite tasty. There's about 5 totally vegetarian dishes. They are mindful enough to post that their dishes contain meat. For the quality if you're a meat eater, I recommend checking this place out. Now this is what a good neighborhood Chinese joint is supposed to be! They're not tryna hit you over the head with the prices, they're tryna put you to sleep with their portions. Man, what a nice little find. After a very long Friday, I needed a pick me up- some guilty pleasure vibes ya know? The uncle at the front (I'm assuming the owner) is pleasant to talk to and seems to take pride in what he does. That's hard to come across nowadays. Anyway, orange chicken is fire. Indecisive? Fried rice and noodles 50/50 option with the dinner special is the combo you need. Salt and pepper wings and the Rangoon didn't really hit hit, which is a shame because I feel like those are low-hanging fruit. It was our first time dining here. The food portion was huge and for sharing. I was happily surprised by it. We opted for the lunch meal with soup. I got the hot & sour soup while my husband got the egg soup. Both were good. For the meal, I ordered the chicken chowmien with sweet & sour pork and my husband got the chicken chow mien with orange chicken. Theres also cream cheese at the side and fortune cookie for dessert. The food tasted good and very filling. The service was nice. The old guy immediately gave us fortune cookie for our baby upon getting seated. This is our local Chinese Restaurant and we love it. It's probably a 5-minute drive here from our house so it's really convienent. Parking is never an issue. They have a shared lot with the shopping center. Today we were able to park right in front of the restaurant. It was raining out and there were lots of pooling in the parking lot. Getting out of the car I stepped in a large unavoidable puddle. Thankfully the soles on my shoes are thick or the water would have absorbed. Going home I got in the passenger side of the car and rode in the back seat. From our experience all meals come with a bowl of soup. Today was hot and sour soup. I'm not usually a fan, but it was delicious this time. It probably helped that it was cold and rainy outside. That is one thing I don't like about the setup of the restaurant. When someone opens the front door, a strong breeze comes in and tonight it was chilly. We ordered the lunch/dinner special. It's a $1 extra at dinner time and still so worth it. You can't get a better deal on their menu. We got the spicy eggplant over chow mein. It wasn't spicy at all; it was actually a little sweet. I loved it even better than the dish I ordered. I ordered the Broccoli Beef so I could get a vegetable with my meal and the chicken fried rice. I am not usually a fried rice gal, but I love there's compared to the chow mein. Had an errand at the Merkley Ave Post Office and decided to stop in to Peace Cuisine to try one of their lunch specials. There were several tables on each side, and you order directly at the counter at the back of the space straight from the main entrance. I decided to go with their General Chicken ($11.95) which comes with soup of the day, cream cheese wonton, chicken chow mein or chicken fried rice. When i asked if they could do half and half chow mein/fried rice, it was $1.00 extra. Very nice attentive service from the gentleman who took my order and brought it out to the table. The soup of the day was egg drop soup which was fine. The lunch special plate portion was huge. The fried rice could have used a little more soy sauce/color, but was salty enough. The chow mein was too much to finish and I ended up taking a small container home of just the chow mein leftovers! The general chicken was good, tender and not too spicy sauce coating. No veggies like broccoli though came with it. The cream cheese wonton was not crispy but a decent size. Fortune cookie also at the end of the meal, pay at the counter. The lunch specials pricing is valid until dinnertime! After 5PM add $1.00 more to the lunch specials pricing for the dinner specials. I did not ask if this is 7 days a week or only weekdays. The next lunch special items I want to try next are the salt and pepper pork, sweet and sour pork, orange chicken, or honey walnut shrimp. This place is very quick and fills the craving. The chow mein is solid. We recently switched to pescatarian and the took the chicken out no problem! The walnut shrimp (not pictured hehe) is very good, not super crispy but still had a good texture. The prices are also pretty good, especially if you get their dinner or lunch combos which we have done in the past. Pretty easy to find and the parking lot always has spots from when we have been. Definitely more a pickup place but there is seating indoors where you can enjoy your food. The workers have all been really nice and friendly everytime we have gone. read more

Came here with the wife and a friend who had recommended this place for the past 2 years, but from Elk Grove it's a bit of a drive. Well, I must say it was a great experience here and the drive wasn't too bad. Upon entering we saw just once person behind the counter and nobody in the restaurant. After my friend convinced me they do mostly take out, I then felt more comfortable ordering. Another sense of relief was seeing multiple certificates on the wall from Yelp and media write ups regarding their food. Michael was nice with a dry sense of humor, which I enjoyed. We ordered the chicken egg foo young, wor won ton soup with noodles and Peace cuisine special noodles (vermicelli), which was good but we thought it would have more ingredients than baby dried shrimp and diced Chinese sausage (lop cheurng). The wor won ton was packed in a large bowl with thinly sliced chicken, little bit of beef, whole shrimp, bbq pork along with meaty won tons and hor fun (thick white) noodles. The table favorite was the egg foo young, which was huge in diameter (at least 10") and pan fried perfectly (crisp edges). Bowl of brown gravy on the side was the topper; I even poured it on top of my rice! Only downer was they ran out of their dish that was written up...crispy fried chicken. Peace Cuisine is an unassuming power house! They have a nicely shaded parking lot with ample parking and a dining room with large and bright tables. We were greeted immediately and seated comfortably, dining for 3. Service was courteous and prompt. The table was never messy and drinks always refilled. I was amazed by the portions and pricing. They really are quite generous and the taste is very good. I ordered the Mongolian beef dinner special with the chicken chow mein, and it was epic. Mountain of tasty noodles and a mound of silky beef. It was impressive! The egg drop soup was much thicker than expected but was very good. The wonton had a nice crisp. My friend ordered the walnut prawn with fried rice, and absolutely no complaints. We had plenty of leftovers and I did not experience any food coma afterwards. Highly recommend! read more

I was in the area, wanted a quick, inexpensive lunch, and with the nostalgia factor playing into it, I figure I'd give it a go. Reasonably priced for a lunch special. $12 got me a decent amount of general chicken, rice, soup, and a cheese wonton. The hot and sour soup has potential.....taste was there, but it was more a "warm and sour soup." Since I was there about twenty minutes after they opened, I feel fresh soup should be hot. A shame, because the flavor was good, but I wish it were hotter. The chicken could have been spicier, but it was good quality chicken (not deep fried pieces of ..... that you find at restaurants using poor quality meat). Props for that, fries well....just a little bland. I think overall, the place has potential to be higher on my personal list, with a tweak here or there. Overall, I think this falls into my "probably wouldn't recommend, but if people want it, I'd have no problem returning" category of restaurants. read more

My whole family has been enjoying the fresh made to order food from PEACE CUISINE. This restaurant has been our go to since the first visit. Huge portions, great variety, lots of veggies, tastes wonderful, and good value. They also let you modify dishes or substitute ingredients to your preference. I will say that some of their noodle dishes can be too oily but I think if I ask for them drier, they would do it. They are such polite people! Customer service is so friendly and helpful. Truly nice staff/owners who are attentive to their customers. Located in a strip plaza close to the freeway exit/entrance, dining area is basic and clean. What a hidden gem! I walked in on a 105° day in Sacramento and was greeted by a gentleman with the biggest smile on his face. I was seated and my drink order was taken within seconds. I ordered the mongolian beef lunch special with chow mein (no bean sprouts requested) which came with a cheese rangoon and your choice of either egg drop or hot and sour soup. I asked for the mongolian beef to be made spicy to which he warned it was already spicy and asked of I wanted it even spicier. I replied, yes I like my food SPICY. Nothing usually gets me, or is satisfyingly spicy when it comes to spice unless I'm eating Thai food so I wasn't expecting much. Hot chili oil? Nope never spicy. Sriracha? Laughable. The food came out quickly and was a huge portion. The beef was the perfect mount of spice, I was in heaven! I must be crazy because it was so hot outside and now I'm eating this very spicy dish The chow mein was also very good and so flavorful (not your average bland lunch special chow mein). Solid 3-Star food, 3.5-Star friendly service. From what I can tell, walking by the kitchen, the place is run by 3 people: the host-cum-waiter in front, and 2 in back cooking and keeping everything running in back. So nicely done to keep everything clean and tidy in the front and in the bathroom. (This is not the standard Chinese restaurant that does a good job with the food, but is lacking elsewhere.) We had wor wonton soup, dry-cooked string beans and Mongolian lamb with our teas. The average tab/dish is a bit under $20 (see menu in link). The best thing we ordered was the wor wonton soup--almost as good as my Mom's (I grew up having it almost once a month because my Dad loved wonton soup). Another winner for Sacramento. Peace Cuisine although located in a random parking lot it definitely is worth the search! Rated a top spot in Sacramento safe to say it's earned the title. The portions were enormous and the flavor was on target. I just wish the kung pow chicken had a bit more heat and a variety of veggies. Despite the missing veggies and peanuts the kung pow chicken was still delicious. Everything tasted fresh and you know it's gonna be good when you hear yelling in the background lol. I would have sat here and ate because staff was so friendly but I opted to take it to go. I was craving orange chicken and didn't want to venture far, so I decided to give Peace Cuisine a try based on some recommendations. Was it the best I've ever had? No, but it definitely satisfied my craving, and the generous portions were enough for two to three meals. The service exceeded my expectations for a quick pickup spot, and my order was ready in no time. There's a decent amount of space for dining in, and a few people were enjoying their meals there when I stopped by. If I'm in the mood for a similar fix, I'll definitely be back! read more

The man at the front was very friendly! However there was another man that seemed a little off. My bf had asked for a coke and the man insisted that he get diet... he also brought a cup of ice that was pretty melted. I ordered the salt & pepper pork dinner combo with chicken chow mein and my bf got the honey walnut shrimp with fried rice. The dinner combos come with a choice of soup and a cream cheese wonton. Omg super huge portions and piping hot!! Good flavors and not super greasy. Really good pricing as well, the two dinner combos and a soda was only $29 before tip! Picked up my wife from SMF and we both were craving Chinese food. With a YELP search I found Peace Cuisine and we were not disappointed! As soon as we walked in we were immediately greeted with a smile and seated. My wife and I ordered wonton soup, sweet n sour chicken, Mongolian beef, noodles and Kung Pao chicken. Peace Cuisine was hot when it first appeared on the Yelp scene. I don't believe it's ever cooled off. It always seems poppin' with a continuous flow of carryout customers and some dine in as well. The guy working the counter is amazing to watch. He takes orders over the phone, bags the takeout, brings food to the dine in customer, and more super deftly. The guy is a friendly octopus. The food? Fresh tasting, massive potions, and still affordable. You'll find something for the vegetarian and interesting items for the rest, including a couple lamb specialties?!? Peace and love. And veggies. Peace Cuisine is a current favorite choice when in West Sac for our trivia night and needing a nice hot meal. A popular take out location, they also offer dine in and will ask you which you prefer upon entry into the restaurant. Somehow the one or two staff who appear and disappear back into the kitchen are able to handle pick up and dine in customers with efficient ease. It's impressive to behold. My current favorite dishes are the vegetarian chow mein and the vegan ma po tofu. For the $12 dinner special price you get them both family style, with hot and sour soup and a cream cheese wonton. It is enough food for two meals easy, and can stretch to three. Not only that, the food is to die for and veggie friendly. There is a dedicated vegetarian section on the menu, which is nice to see, as a vegetarian myself, and it is easy to pick out what is vegetarian under the other menu categories as well. For vegan dishes, you'll have to ask what can be made vegan. As this place came recommended to me by a vegan friend (and the bf has been coming here for ages too, can't leave him out), I know the answer to this is the tofu (salt and pepper tofu, orange tofu, and ma po tofu) dishes can certainly be made vegan, but for everything else, you'll have to ask. The attentiveness of the staff here is excellent. They are friendly and happy to help meet the dietary needs of customers in a way that I wish I observed more often when dining out. They offer many options on their menu, excellent prices for both the quality and quantity of the food, and a clean establishment for dine in. That is why we keep coming back. Came here with a couple friends to see what hype was all about. We ordered off the lunch special lamb curry, salt and pepper pork, orange chicken, general chicken and kung pao chicken. At first we thought we got the most bang for our buck, since they were generous with their food portions. However the food was lacking a lot of flavor, most if not all the dishes was bland and flavorless. The lamb curry plate was mostly onions barely any lamb meat. Kung pao chicken was just chicken and zucchini the sauce was very light compared to other restaurants. There was no peanuts no other veggies and was not even spicy. Try at your own risk. read more
