No, coffee is not just coffee. I am absolutely disappointed in Peet's coffee. Here is my story. After flying for hours I get off my plane in Sacramento. Go to Peet's Coffee in order two simple medium size black coffee Keep in mind I just got off the plane and I need to walk to baggage claim with my luggage and 2 cups of coffee. They do not have coffee trays what? No coffee trays???? I'm told I'll just go next-door to Freshi. They have those carry trays you might have to pay them, but they have them we don't . Stopped in here right after flying in from LAX for a quick pick me up. There's a Starbucks, but given the choice between Peet's and Starbucks, Peet's wins! I like the coffee better here is all but Peets doesn't have the market saturation that Starbuck's has, but I'm happy to see it here at the airport. This is the only dedicated coffee spot in Terminal A. Obviously other spots sell coffee, but there is no Starbucks, etc., after security. Normally I would think that was a good thing, but this spot on the day I came hard barely any food items and it was 5 am. The service was friendly, but it doesn't take much to serve a medium coffee and a bottled water. Popular spot in the terminal regardless of time of day, so anticipate a line. They do a pretty good job of keeping it moving. I ordered their seasonal pumpkin spice latte and it had a bit of an odd taste; I think it needed more sweetener. Lacked coffee flavor, so not sure how much was included. Technical difficulties with the register. Why today? LOL. What a stressful situation for them. Like when you have more than 20 people waiting at 5am and the register goes down.  I had a list of what I was asked to get. I am not a coffee person. I read my list "Medium mocha latte, Medium decaf vanilla latte oat milk (if no oat then almond), and a Water bottle. I didn't have enough cash for all.  So I got the first two. After they were made I asked the lady if this one had oat milk in it. Her response was that's what makes it a latte. Neither cup was marked so the people I bought it for had to cross contaminate to figure out which was theirs.  No markings on cups. read more

Business model fail. With the exception of operating maybe in North Korea, I don't see how this small coffee vendor out post could possibly be successful. Located in Terminal A at SMF, it does not open until 5am. That sounds like an early and reasonable opening time until you consider that many people are arriving at the airport around 330 or 4 AM because of flights out at first light. And while my gripe seems like a petty and ridiculous first world issue, it really isn't when you look around at the surrounding vendors and businesses all of whom are open except for this place at 4 AM. Even the bar is open and serving beverages early but not Peet's! I almost feel sorry for the three or four employees behind the counter who are getting the place ready to open while it is darked out and every passenger walking through the terminal simply glares at them for being closed and goes to their competitors for coffee. I had a little extra time to wait so I sat down and watched the action pass by in front of Peet's. I saw probably 150 people come by the place looking to buy coffee between 4:15 and 5 AM and watched them get disappointed and go next-door to their competitor for their Java fix. I estimated probably $1000 of missed revenue in that short period of time. With that kind of business model, it seems like they are allergic to making money. Like I said, the business model doesn't really seem to make sense for an airport location in the United States. I understand that if I was in North Korea, my review would simply be censured, edited or deleted and I would be swiftly eliminated from society by a stealthy hit squad for even pointing this out. However, since we are in the free world where capitalism is the general rule, it seems like they should probably consider opening earlier to cater to the desperate early morning traveler. read more

This Peet's is located post security in Terminal A at Sacramento International Airport (SMF). I get it that this is an airport and that things are usually inflated in prices sometimes but there's a huge difference between meh it's a bit expensive and holy **** what are they charging? My wife can be shall we say "difficult" if she doesn't get a decent cup of something hot in the morning. At that point I'd be like sure get an espresso or latte or whatever into yourself ASAP and get back to normal. You know those Snickers commercials where people are not themselves? That. Oh back to the Peet's place. My wife wanted a medium chai latte and pre- tax this drink was 6 bucks! I mean I don't flinch going to Starbucks or places like that but when a hot beverage is basically priced the same as say a beer just about anywhere else including San Francisco, Miami or Toronto I have to say WTF. I can't speak to the quality of Peet's but I paid for this drink so it just seems a wee bit pricey. This place must have horrible management because every employee acts like they hate their lives. My cold brew came out a 3 layered drink with simple syrup, milk, coffee. It was absolutely disgusting and I couldn't get a word in at all with an employee to fix it. They avoided all eye contact with everyone. Looks like Peet's is the only option for coffee in Terminal A. Their coffee is not too bad, they always have a nice froth on top of you beverage. Also if your traveling in the morning they have some breakfast sandwiches pre-made incase you're in a hurry, it actually might be better then Iron Horse restaurant in the Terminal read more

A three star review because it's the only coffee place and my drink was technically correct. My issue is with their disorganization with the order process. The barista had to ask everyone what size they ordered and the person behind me was getting their drink before my order was completed and I had to ask the confused barista if he was making it. Another person chimed in that they had it. I of course had to tell him what size. Unfortunately I didn't know what size I was charged for since the receipt is not itemized and when I ordered they only listed a medium and large size. I said the smaller of the two. When my first drink came out I found out there was indeed a small. So my answer to what size I ordered was that "I had no way to know what I was charged for since I said smaller of the two." The frustrated barista that was going to make the second drink said that he was behind the lady ringing me up and it was a small. I said that would have been the time to tell me that they indeed had smalls and that is what I was being charged for. The small airport has a line at this Peet's because they lack a comprehensive menu (bakery items are also not marked) and there is zero communication between what you pay for and what they make. It is a shame since I wanted to stop at the Peet's since we landed several days ago. Next trip here I will probably avoid it and get a vending machine coffee that will probably know what I paid for read more

First time at Peet's. They had some brown sugar boba latte special. It was actually pretty decent and just the right amount of sugar. The boba itself was just mini little jellies to be honest, definitely not the normal boba quality you'd expect at a legit boba place. Overall, I was satisfied. The service was nice too. I realize it is inside an airport but there's far fewer options than a standard Peet's, staff focuses more on rushing than on quality and they even lack a decent place to doctor-up your coffee with and cream or sugar. It's the only real coffee house option upstairs in Terminal A, which is fine by me, because I love Peet's Coffee. There was a bit of a line, so after placing my 2 drink orders, I walked 25 feet across to the sundries store. I was in view of the pickup window while I was deciding which overpriced snacks to load up on and never saw my 2 small sized coffees, yet there wasn't anyone else waiting for their orders. I noticed that people who were after me in line were getting their drinks and asked the barista if he had made mine already. He was a bit confused, a little apologetic, but more annoyed with his co-workers for not getting the order. He made them right away and they were delicious and just the right temp. I'm just glad I wasn't in a hurry. Three stars for making tasty drinks exactly like I expect from Peet's, although service could've been a little more efficient. read more

Peet's has excellent coffee. The quality of their coffee beans is very high. Much better than the big (green themed) chain. They have a good variety of styles (latte, cappuccino, espresso, mocha, etc.), and their drip coffee is wonderful! They seem to always be slammed, which is good for them. read more

The absolute worst service I've received. Made a cold brew hot, gave me a small instead of a medium, made with 2% instead of oat milk, and then only refunded the difference. Probably waited for 20 minutes for two of the same drinks when there were four people working and only three people who had ordered drinks. 5 stars because of the excellent customer service we experienced. We ordered cold brew before flying out and the barista, Sarah, asked us to try our drinks and offered to re-make whatever we wanted if we didn't like it. She made us different drinks after we didn't like our first drinks and even filled our toddler's water bottle. We never even asked for any of it, she just offered to make sure we were 100% satisfied. Although I only ordered Vanilla Latte most of the time, their coffee is really good! A very good alternative to Starbucks if they have long lines. The only issue I have is the price ! It is just the same as Starbucks! But Starbucks has a name brand worldwide that's why we are paying for the price. But Peet's? I just heard it in California. Lisa is the best! Hands down best customer service I've ever received at a Peet's! And a delicious latte to top al that off

The positives is that the place is clean and the staff is friendly. However, my drink really was poorly made. I had a caramel latte. Expecting caramel flavor and sweetness, it tasted more like coffee with cream and no sugar. Until I got to the very end where all the syrup and flavor was. So basically it was all too sweet at the end. I'd just stick with star bucks which is downstairs before going to the security or the gate. read more

I keep a car parked at the SMF airport for my treks up to Lake Tahoe and other cool areas in California. I often stop at Peet's coffee in terminal A. I never see the same employees here but regardless they are always friendly. The down side is that it appears they are applying the street plus airport surcharge pricing. I read a survey that 49% of airport vendors in the United States charge more simply because you're eating at the airport. Sure I can stay at home but I just wonder why the price gouging? It's like the hotels in Vegas that advertise $49 rooms but with the energy surcharge, resort fees plus the high room tax on top of that you're paying $89 for that bargain. My small size vanilla latte was something like $6-$7. They appear to be the only coffee shop inside of security in the older A terminal. Enough of my bitching, the coffee itself was good and the service was fine. read more

Worst customer service. There were 4 people standing, chatting and laughing by the espresso machine while Few of us were waiting in line and one person at the register taking her time. Also I didn't know that employees can cut in line and the person at the register ( I think was a manager, blond tall lady) didn't even knowledge the people in line. Just waited in a long line at Peet's terminal A at SMF (not exactly a long line, but rather just really slow service). Ordered an oatmeal and coffee and then went and sat down only to discover that the oatmeal was missing the brown sugar packet so when I went up and asked for it, the lady looked in the back and then came back and told me they were all out. I suggested that they disclose that when customers order because I would not have ordered it otherwise. The lady looked at me and said "we didn't know that we were out". I call BS because whoever packed the little bags full of the fruit and walnuts would have discovered that earlier. As I look over there, the line is currently 15 deep so there's no way I'm going to ask for my money back. I'm not eating the oatmeal even with the cane sugar that they recommended. It's terrible. They obviously need to take lessons from the Pete's coffee in terminal B in terms of how to deliver a good service. read more

I was standing in line for 15-20 minutes while the staff was discussing who knows what doing nothing. It was asked what time they opened up from another customer and the girl said 4:30. It was 4:40 and still not opened moving slow. Asked again the mgr rudely says 5:00. Some of us need to catch our flights. If there was the problem she should have made some announcement because the line was really long at this time. I left because my flight was boarding. That was totally unprofessional. Coffee is OK-I agree with other reviewers that the quality of the coffee drinks is not at the same level as non-airport Peet's stores. Management, if you are reading these reviews, please let your employees know that it is offensive for them to call all women "sweetheart" while referring to men as "sir".
