1st there were only 4 people working and the line in the store was long, service is very different from Starbucks. Maybe Starbucks geared that way, "fast service." We were in the store for maybe 10 mins just waiting. Service is very very slow. It took them about 4 mins for them to even take our order. Glad I don't go there often. Definitely not my first choice of places to get coffee. My dirty chai was okay, nothing to write home about, but my wife's coffee cappuccino was good, but she says it's ez to make so no big surprise there. The culture of this Peet's coffee has great customer service making customers feel welcome and the way they brew and make their coffee is the quality they spend their time to create your perfect coffee. I love, love, love Peet's. This is my go-to spot when I'm craving an iced matcha green tea latte. Give it a try sometime, it's fantastic! This location embodies the word cozy. There's quite a bit of sit down seating and bar seating facing the windows. There's also a nice little outdoor area with tables. The employees are always bubbly and full of personality. Outside of the excellent coffee they're what makes this place Peet's. They handle the busier hours like seasoned pro's and when you're on the go that kind of service is appreciated, especially since there's no drive-thru. Parking is an utter hellscape. Frustrating customer experience. Six people on front of house and a queue of people waiting for drinks for a crazy amount of time. Point of sale issues at the register which delayed the register being open, a server who took care of our order one individual thing one at a time instead of getting the whole order at once and then putting things in motion, a difference of 15 minutes between when my partners order was ready to when mine was, and inside that time at least ten minutes from when my sandwich was done to when my coffee was done. Queue of customers waiting for their orders was ten deep. And when I finally got the coffee order, no acknowledgement of the delay. I think people want to get the job done and want a sense of teamwork and productivity but they are not functioning as a well oiled machine and the customer is feeling the impact. read more

Whenever I'm at this location, it's a different experience every time. It's also in an awkward spot of the shopping center. No fault to them. But if they can pull together the continuity of the overall experience on a day to day basis, it would be nice. Friendly and apologetic staff but overworked! Honestly, the staff is doing the best they can, but with only two people working, and a large crowd, it was really backed up. Service it's very slow. I get it's Covid and regulations have change. And the way business it's run. But I been to this location couple of times and the wait for your order it's about 30mins. They always have one person in bar even on busy days. One person giving the orders out and a guy just in the back doing I dunno what. And two other people on the oven and register side. Not very clean. I'm not sure what these "yelp elite" people are doing but they are not going to the same Peet's as I am. The restrooms are rarely clean. The employees are constantly doing not much when there are overflowing trash cans, dirty bathrooms and counters, etc. They are not watching the milk either or wiping down tables. Man oh man is this Peet's a busy one and very understaffed for a cold and rainy Sunday afternoon. I was out in this neck of the woods for brunch with some sweet friends and was able to see another friend after brunch who lives in the area just because I could. It was ideal and since she and I used to be neighbors and used to have coffee together all the time, it was very fitting for us to meet at Peet's. This Peet's is located in a very busy strip mall next to a Kinder's a Trader Joe's and a bunch of other stuff. This makes for ass parking especially if you want to just run in for a cup of coffee. Luckily, the rain hadn't quite started and though I found a place to park closer to the Babies R Us (yes, I did say a strip mall), my friend was able to score a spot closer. She had what I had-a wet cappuccino and they were both prepared well though they did take a long time. While we were sitting and chatting and having our coffee, the line was almost out the door and didn't get any better. I am glad this is not my regular location as it felt very much like a... I love to get my Peet's fix here. Their coffee has the best quality and flavor. The girls at the counter are good! Quick, efficient service and consistently good drinks. I have been turned off from other locations because of snotty or incompetent employees and because of inconsistent quality. But this place has not imposed any of those problems. Been a regular at this Peet's for years. Friendly staff, the drink is almost always ready by the barista before the cashier enters it into the system. The manager (Laura) is wonderful. Although there's been baristas in and out of this location -- they seem to come back. There's two baristas that left previously (one for maternity reasons, the other was working at another store) which are both back and very pleasant. How often do you see someone come back to a retail job at the same location when there are others around just like it? Says something for the management and organization of the store. I work in downtown San Francisco and there's at least 5 Peet's within a 2 block radius in the financial district. All of them are mass production (caffeine for all those hard working people) and not as friendly as this (my neighborhood) Peets. I always stop here on my way to BART or the highway to the city. The most irritating thing is the often-experienced Starbucks mentality of a starbucks regular visiting the Peets. You don't go into Jack in the Box and ask for a Big Mac do you? This works the same way. Though Peets is more like a gourmet burger versus Starbucks McDonalds coffee. Un-related Con: the greedy pig of an owner of the mini mall first agreed to a Trader Joe's, then a Chipotle neighboring the Peet's even though the shopping center in that area wasn't built with enough spaces for either. If you are visiting on a weekend day beware of parking headaches. read more

Dear Peet's, How are you? It's been a while, I know. I've been out of touch with this location for some time. I will have to be honest with you, I love your coffee -- it's great, really -- but I just find that my addiction to you is quite costly. Not only that, I keep running into people that I feel awkward around, namely people that I went to high school with. Don't get me wrong, your inviting atmosphere is well appreciated in those really awkward run-ins with people, but I have things to do while I use your free wifi. I love the fact that you are there for me during really boring holidays, for example Thanksgiving Day, but you also have some employees that complain about their personal lives a lot while I am trying to study. Their said-out-loud complaints are really annoying, especially when they start telling of their lives multiple times to various people. Except for these folk, I absolutely love the rest of your staff. Your cafe area is always well kept, and I've rested in your restroom much more than the average person and I would definitely have to give you kudos for that. Your location is in good company with the Trader Joe's and Lone Tree Thai. I will more than likely visit you again in the near future because I prefer you over Starbucks. Thank goodness for Peet's and the "real" coffee it offers. The coffee is always brewed to perfection without the "watered down" type that another famous coffee place can offer. We all know who that other place is. The pastries are really good here as well. They don't have that greasy feel or taste. The pastries definately are of good quality. The only thing I don't like about this Peet's is that it is not easy to get in and out of. If you need a quick cup to go (because if you don't get on Highway 4 in a few minutes you will get jacked) this is probably not the place to go. Hence...only 4 stars instead of 5. read more

Without a doubt, no where in the Antioch/Brentwood/Oakley area can you get a decent cup of coffee besides Pete's. My favorite part of their drink menu is that you get foamed milk on top of your iced latte drinks. (-2 stars for only providing customers with a 1hour pass for the internet! C'mon Peets, catch up with your corporate partner Starbucks and give us internet time. I guarantee your revenue will go up.) Unfortunately, 2 times in the last week my orders were made wrong. The reason of a low review Is to report untruthful employee/s. I arrived early for a pick up and waited 15 to 20 minutes, I watched all the orders and no order matching my pickup went out. I asked for update was told order is being made, 2nd request was told the order already went out. I questioned her and she said it again. There's no customer service clearly due to covid there's less staff. I understand that. But at least mgmt should retrain their staff on this issue. ironically I was at Peet's in Pleasant Hill today at 10am and experienced similar issue. Then I'm at Lone Tree Peet's about 11:30 same day. Never seen something so disappointing in a store. Staff is extremely rude to customers. Witnessed a guy come in and ask if he made his order for a coffee and the staff reacted horribly. I've never seen people be so rude to a man for asking about a drink. A woman did the same thing and they were nice to her. Kim has a terrible attitude towards customers. So do most the employees. The baristas there are great! coffee always great! this Peets location is great! the only complaint I have is there's a pizza place and other food places right next door to them, so when you go to Peets for more than 5 mins you come out smelling like whatever next door is cooking . Peet's is my favorite coffee chain. It originated right here in the Bay Area and the actually Peet is Dutch/Indonesian....like me! So naturally he knows his coffee ;-) Staff is super friendly, convientiently located in the Trader Joe's shopping center so I can grab a coffee before I shop, and I get a free cup of coffee when I purchase a lb of beans. Peet's I first came into this Peet's about 2 years ago. My first impression was how clean and neat the retail space was. All the employees had smiles on their faces and not the fake, I have to be nice to you and I am bitter about it kind of look. Between the staff and environment, I was put at ease immediately before even talking to anyone. I stopped by since I had run out of the Holiday Black Blend loose tea from Peet's that a close friend had given to me. I never drank tea before that I really enjoyed but this was outstanding and became a new obsession of mine once I had experienced Peet's loose tea. As I went up to the counter I was greeted with a smile and some kind words. Once I told her that I needed help picking out some new tea, she enthusiastically agreed to assist me and immediately came around the counter and guided me to their tea selection. First instead of just saying something along the lines of, "This is what I like so you should try it." She started with questions like, "What did you like about our Holiday Blend?" And "Do you enjoy citrus?" She really got to know my tastes before recommending anything. She showed me a few teas she thought I would really enjoy. She was so patient while I made up my mind and I finally settled on the Winter Solstice. This tea is a blend of premium black teas with spices, vanilla and citrus. Her description of the tea made me rush right home to try it. All I can say is that it became my new favorite! She also helped me pick out the perfect tea pot for brewing tea. I had mentioned I don't really care to heat my tea in the microwave but didn't have a teapot. I have now bought 2 more of the same teapot as gifts, people adore them! I provided tons of detail about that particular visit because first impressions are critical. Since then I have been in countless times. Most of the time I am helped by Kadie, the person I talked to on my first visit. I made sure on my second visit to learn her name. She has made every effort to take care of us when we come in. She remembers my name, what I like to drink but knows I am open to new things so will make recommendations when she knows I will like something. I suppose I should mention I am first and foremost a coffee drinker/lover and Peet's has the best coffee! I even had a time where I was super sensitive to caffeine and the decaf they serve there is fantastic! Most decaf you get feels and tastes like an after thought so I was pleasantly surprised to find this gem. Now that I am not very sensitive anymore to caffiene, I still keep this as an option for an evening beverage. Last night we stopped by since we saw a friend was inside enjoying a wonderful looking frozen drink as we were walking over to another place to eat dinner. When we walked in they were a bit slow due to the rainy weather and she came right over to the table to see if we needed a drink or needed to get tea. Although I mostly deal with Kadie, every person on the staff I have interacted with is super nice, professional, happy to be there and so delighted to help! Although I haven't asked her specifically I am pretty sure she is a Supervisor or Manager because she takes care of all of her customers and interacts with the other employees in such a way that she seems to guide everyone. She seems like a natural leader. If you haven't been here or you frequent another coffee place, :gasp: I would recommend you visit Peet's! You will not be disappointed! read more
