I like this location since it is open until 8pm. Today, for some reason, the workers insisted on closing the bathroom at 7pm. I objected when the worker came around telling people they were closing the bathroom early, and let them know I would want to use the bathroom before I left, and also that I was surprised that they were closing the bathroom this early. At 7:30pm, when I walked to the bathroom as one of the workers was coming out after presumably cleaning it, he told me he would not let me use it. The person behind the counter directed me to the bathroom in an establishment across the street! I am bewildered - the coffee shop is still open for another half hour, and there is nothing wrong with the bathroom here! The employees have simply decided they will not accommodate customer interests. It is one thing to close the bathroom 5 or 10 minutes before closing time, but wanting to close it an hour before closing time and refusing to let the customers use it after that is just rude, not to mention inconsiderate and inconvenient. I hope this will never happen again at this location. read more

Golly, this store - it just opened - is small but really clean and well run. I hope it stays that way. The Peet's I used to go to, in West Portal, was always so frikkin' hot it was Hell standing in line. 365 days a year. Not this one. Maybe it's because they're closer to the ocean or know how to set the AC under the charbroil setting. Whatever, Feather. I brought my own cup so that's ten cents off my drink right there! And, since I'm signed up on-line with Peet's website, I had printed out a coupon that gave me a buy one/get one Special Deal. A Magic Coupon - which I left at home in my printer, dammit! The store is compact and the bean counter is a faint shadow of the West Portal Peet's, but they compensate by carrying the beans you're most likely to buy, not a billion interchangeable varieties from Central America. Smart move, that one. So, I put in my order and the cashier - I should've caught her name; sorry Peet's worker! - was super helpful and patient. She was fair, slender and had her hair up. Oh, and she had a great tattoo on her left arm and what was cool about it was how the elbow was blank. That makes SO much sense! Considering how elbows get banged around, that's the place a tat' would most likely get scraped off. Wow. It's like I went to Peet's for caffeine and, instead, got a white chocolate mocha with four shots of wisdom! What still makes Peet's the best is the options and variables you can finesse a drink with. I mean, if you ever see what the drink screen they type on looks like, you'll freak out. They have more buttons, lights, and switches that you'll see on the dashboard of a Boeing 787 Dreamliner! The store is small, as I said, but the service was great. The manager (he was dashing enough to be the manager, anyway) is named Spencer and he was relaxed and suave but watching over everything going on. If I ever worked for a Peet's store, I'd want to have a manager WHO IS JUST LIKE SPENCER. He had this aura that said, "I'm in change and things are going to be cool if you just let them." He was a reassuring and calming presence - like a white Morgan Freeman. Note: it's good to see ANYONE in management who has a beard and isn't a complete jerk. Now, I'm not saying having a beard in a coffee shop makes you a jerk. I'm just saying when it was me and I had a beard? Total jerk. I shaved, though. Now I just look fat-faced and tired. Spencer - don't ever change! The woman who made my drink - KATEY! - was Extra Special Super DUPER cute, smart, and competent. Besides not messing up a very complicated drink order (I asked for one with whipped cream and attitude - my regular), she was relaxed and not staring at the order screen with that numb terrified look that says, "These drink orders are just SO complex. One wrong move and it's game over, Chester. I miss my other job, the one where all I had to do was work with weapons-grade plutonium." There was NONE of that from Katey, though. She even asked me if I wanted a little chocolate syrup swirled on my drink. WAY cool, Katey! I think she was flirting with me but my supermodel wife, Diana, was standing behind me and smacked the back of my head before I could be sure. So, no. Katey was NOT flirting with me. This review is strictly for Ben. Ben is the absolute nicest, sweetest, coolest guy ever. He kinda reminds me of John C. Reilly but younger and better looking. Yes, this is a compliment. JCR rules! Ben has the kindest spirit. I hear him greeting the usuals by name and he consistently says good morning to everyone. Even when I see him outside of work getting food on his lunch break he's still HELLA sweet and happy to see you. Most times I visit, everyone working seems so poonded - hating their jobs and their annoying customers. Not Ben - he's always chipper with that staple, authentic smile on his face. Don't get me wrong, every time I walk in most customers are so fiercely fiending for coffee it's like I stepped into the Walking Dead apocalypse. Despite the constant chaos Ben stays happy and in control. Besides the above mentioned, Ben is also the most knowledgable, polite and attentive. This is by far my least favourite Peet's. I still remember the first and best hot chocolate I ever had from the Peet's on West Portal when I was eight years old. The hot chocolate, pumpkin chai latte, and green tea lattes from Lakeshore's Peet's were either really bland or too sweet and lacking the balance between milk, sugar, and specific flavour. The scone I received was hard and more crumbly than the average scone. There were also flies zipping around the pastries, and I saw one land on a cookie. Just like the drinks they serve, the neighborhood is also bland and fast-paced. Didn't feel like a coffee shop at all... it was almost as bad as Starbucks. read more

New Peet's opens in Lakeshore plaza! I'm almost positive that this means the customers who usually go to the one in WP are going to give this place a try as well. The store is still new and things are still being worked out. That's cool.. No worries. Workers are new and still being trained, almost positive that's the case. Alrighty then. Got myself a small nonfat latte. You can't go wrong with making a latte.. Right? I had too much milk foam. I've made lattes before and the amount of foam I had was equivalent to that of a cappuccino. Ohh noooo! In terms of customer service, baristas were very nice and quick with my order.. I say, give this place a few more months to get everything worked out and they'll be up to par with the one at WP. I think I prefer this place a little more in terms of layout 'cause it doesn't make me feel like I'm in a HOT SAUNA or claustrophobic. Parking is a lot better here too. If that helps... Attention Peet's manager at the Sloat location. This morning was the second time I came in to buy coffee beans only to be met by distracted and careless employees. At about 11 this morning, I came in and asked for a 1/2 lb of French roast and a full pound of Major Dickason ground on #12. I walked up to the two cashiers talking to one another and waited for one of them to acknowledge me. After a bit, the young man asked me what I wanted. He rung my order up and proceeded to grind the coffee but forgot what I ordered so I had to repeat it. Fine, not a huge deal, but then he asked if I wanted both beans ground, so I was getting annoyed since I stated that up front. It became evident when he took my order and rung me up, he wasn't paying attention. Then he hands me the first bag of coffee unlabeled. So I asked him to label it. I'll post a picture. The second bag wasn't labeled at all. All this may not be a huge issue, but then it gets worse. I went to shop at the Lucky next door and come to notice that the coffee beans I placed in my empty grocery bag wasn't sealed properly. Some of the ground beans had spilled into my bag. Please help your employees refrain from being distracted and careless. It's not good business and inconvenient for the valued customer. read more

As a long time Peet's Customer and Employee, I've been on both sides of the register long enough to understand what a good/bad Peet's looks like. This store is new, and they still have a lot of work to do. Namely, training their employees properly. First off, the Aloha cash register system is really not hard to use. I simply don't understand why it takes so long to ring me up, it's been this way with every employee at this store so far. Every time I ask them not to put my espresso in one of those tiny 3oz cups, they look at me funny, and proceed to type a paragraph into the system. I sat their for 3 minutes once because I requested this. For now I simply tell the Barista any special requests, the people at the register still seem very clueless. Today I ordered a chocolate/caramel swirl with whip cream. When I got it, it had ZERO chocolate in it, not even in the side of the cup the way its supposed to. It was blended so badly, it tasted awful, but I am tired of asking them for requests. Worst Freddo I've ever had. All the caramel was at the bottom of the cup and I could only taste anything good on my last 3 sips. This store really has a lot of catching up to do, and I don't think management has the made the right choices with hiring. I am also curious, since minimum wage in SF is now around 10.25$/hr, what peet's is paying. When I worked at Peet's in 2004, we were paid 9$/hr, which was well over minimum wage at the time. What is peet's paying these days to normal employees? I ask because over the years I really believe quality of customer service has gone down at many locations, especially this one, although its a new store. I think I am going to drive a little further and go to the West Portal location for a while. They are not only very friendly there, but the service is top notch. They are a shining example of a good Peet's in my opinion. read more

I had been looking for ward to this Peets' opening for a while. Finally, the "grand opening" took place this weekend. They did a very nice job of remodeling from the way it was before (as a Tully's coffee). The service was very nice, and there's even a nice bathroom (hopefully it doesn't get messed up by people who tend to ruin such things). Finally, a Peets close to where I live, and therefore more opportunity for me to get their coffee. The best thing about this location is that, compared to other San Francisco locations, this one has abundant parking in the Lakeshore Plaza Shopping Center or on the surrounding streets if one prefers. It appears they have free wi-fi here but it's such that you have to request for the access code. read more

You wanna go where everyone knows your name! This is a busy location but they know what my husband and I like. The staff here are friendly and carry conversation while preparing your drink. Nice ambience, convenient location. This plaza only has Noah's bagels and Peet's for coffee. Tried to get a decaf ice tea, but was told they don't carry it, so I had to get a hot decaf and a cup of ice and make it myself. Starbucks baristas would have been more accommodating and would have made it themselves. Tried the unsweetened Mayan Mocha and it was pretty good. read more

The chain changed their blended drinks so they tasted like pure sugar and after remaking them twice (which the employees were very nice about) I asked if I could change my order since it was too sweet to drink (due to the recipe change, not their fault). Yelp doesn't help(and neither do the hating and self centered yelpers that feel the need to justify themselves by rating places based on how they ordered their stuff). I live in the Lake Merced area and had been going to the nearby Java Beach for a longtime, and I was disappointed with Java Beach's quality, rates, and most of all their customer service. I waited anxiously for this new Sloat Blvd Peet's Coffee and Tea to open. I give this store a 5 star rating on many levels: 1) Customer Service, 2) Quality, 3) Cleanliness, and 4) Atmosphere. Comparing this Peet's to Java Beach: the customer service is extremely genuine, kind, and cheerful. Java Beach employees have way too much attitude for my taste and some just aren't friendly. Everyone at Sloat Peet's is a hard worker and I have never had a problem, or an issue with anyone. Most baristas have already remembered the kind of drink I like to get which is a very sweet gesture. They are really trying to make the store have a real community and neighborhood atmosphere to it, which is very nice and one of the things I like most about it. Sometimes I would go to Java Beach and there would be a serious amount of grinds in my coffee and the coffee would be cold. At Peet's it's wonderful because that never happens, and I can trust that the quality of the coffee is always hot and fresh. If I can give a business 0 stars, this would be the place! I decided to give myself a nice treat, but when I looked at the pastry display, there were a ton of little flies so I just ordered a Peppermint Matcha Green Tea Latte. I took a few photographs of the pastry display so I can show my husband all these little flies, the guy behind the register with a name tag that says, "It's Ben" yelled at me to stop taking pictures. I apologized and went to the table my husband was sitting at. "It's Ben" walked around the register to where I was at. He said, "Why are you taking pictures of my pastries?" Knowing that there were some customers in the store, I said, "Because I like your pastries." He says out loud in front of everyone, "I heard you say something about the flies! We know about the problem and we are getting it fixed!" (First of all, you told everyone your store had flies, so they immediately turned their heads to look at the display case and they were definitely disgusted! And that is why I told you that I liked the pastries, dummy!!) I questioned him why he was still selling the pastries when they were infested with little bugs. You don't know what kind of diseases these bugs can bring? He said that the Peet's Coffee company was MAKING their employees sell them! I had a questionable look on my face and he tried back tracking his words, so he said that customers don't mind them at all! Also, they sell $600 worth of pastries a day! He made me delete the photographs on my phone, which I faked did and told me to never post these pictures anywhere! I still have the photographs and Peets Coffee, if you think I'm exaggerating please look at the footage! I was there Friday, April 3rd, 2015 between the hours from 1:30pm to 2:05pm. Boycott Peets! Or fire this guy! Excellent coffee HOWEVER all of the pastries are in open space and exposed to flies and large mosquitoes and knats that were having a feast, very unhealthy looking to see dozens of flying critters having a feast on the pasteries perhaps laying eggs on what the inattentive customer(s) may swallow. One would be a fool to eat the pastries from this establishment. Other than that, all is good. read more

Came here on a Sunday Morning. It was very busy but the super nice barista dude didn't rush me in my detailed order. The Dutch Cocoa Blueberry Mocha caught my eye but I don't eat chocolate (unless its Fair Trade) So I asked if I could have the Dutch Cocoa Blueberry Mocha as a soy cappuccino and without the dutch cocoa. He said sure and that it would just be a soy cappuccino with blueberry sauce. All the workers were excited to help me with my order and by golly miss molly! It's the best coffee drink I've tasted (next to homegirl cafe in LA). I hardly ever get specialty drinks, but I am so totally addicted to this one! After I had a sip in the car and went gaga over it, I realized I wanted a pastry to go with it. I ran back in and the same barista helped me pick a pastry. I asked him what the best one was and he said the florentine cookie (which I will be getting next time) but they were unfortunately out. So I asked him what the best scone was and he and another barista recommended the cranberry walnut scone. OMG YUM. I was so happy eating it and I'm feeling happy just thinking about it! As I was leaving the staff said they hoped to see me again which I thought was so nice and sounded way more genuine than "Have a good one" I highly recommend not only the drink and scone, but this Peete's location for its excellent staff, service, and quality of food. read more

Definitely not one of the friendlier Peet's. I came here the other day for a hot chocolate and though the cashier was super friendly the barista was very much a grouch. I did not like the way she sent out my drink. Aside from the customer service dynamics, my drink was very watery and not very good. I wish there was more chocolate and less milk. My "hot" chocolate wasn't very hot, probably luke warm? which I did not enjoy. They put out samples of oatmeal raisin whatever and I did enjoy those! That was probably the most enjoyable part of my visit here. I want to say I won't visit this Peet's again, but that might change since it is the closest one to my house though I do enjoy the Peet's in the Opera Plaza on Van Ness! read more

Usually I have Peet's at work so the brew is not that good. But everytime I go to an actual Peet's establishment its really good. My friend and I elected the french press coffee this last time and it was about $6.50 which splits into two large cups. Pretty nice change up from the regular drip.
