Food was OK, service was OK. Not a bad place for lunch. About as average as it gets, but worth trying if you haven't been.

I first enjoyed Penn Station during my college years in Champaign, IL, where they opened my senior year. I had my fair share of Chicken Teriyaki sandwiches and fries there, and was disappointed when moving to Chicago that there didn't seem to be one nearby. Lo and behold, I realized this location existed a few months ago and every time I had to make a visit to the suburbs I made sure to stop by for a meal. The food here is as good as any Penn Station location I've been to, but the people here are exceptionally friendly, perhaps only rivaled by the people at Chik-Fil-A (although it seems like a much less scripted niceness). All in all I would definitely recommend anyone try out this location. I wish it was in an easier location to spot from the road, and can't wait for one to open in Chicago! read more

As a PA transplant this place used to be my go-to. It's a decent imitation of a Philly cheesesteak. Bread doesn't cut it, and the steak itself isn't the best, but when I was desperate it could do the job. If you look hard enough there at some more authentic places around. Fries are good. Yum! Today was my first visit and I just finished eating half of my sub. Again, YUM! The bread is FRESH and SOFT (shout out to my fellow carb fanatics!) Their prices are very reasonable too. I went to Penn Station because I purchased a living social coupon. I usually do not go back to places that I buy groupons/living social coupons for, but this will be an exception because it is actually GOOD. It is right down the road form me. Nice people. Good food. Yay, a Penn station in the burbs! I used to go to Penn Station at least once a week in college when I lived in Champaign, it beat all the other sub joints. Sadly there wasn't one in Chicago, till now! I guess it's the way they make their subs, because of the grilling-it makes everything tastes so much better. All their options are good choices. This isn't the most popular, but their chicken salad is really the best I've had at any fast food joint. The fries are a huge plus that most other similar places don't have. WOW! Choices, choices, choices. This menu has pretty much everything you could want and in any crazy twisted concoction you could dream if up. The bread is always super fresh, they have fresh baked cookies, everything is cooked to order, fries are made to order and, oh yeah- from REAL potatoes! The lemonade is fresh squeezed, it just doesn't get better than this. The place is locally owned (a franchise) by two sons and their father who are in there every day making your fresh subs. The service at this place is atrocious! I got there at a dead time of day, before the noon rush and ordered sandwiches for myself and my wife to go. It took nearly 30 minutes for them to fill my order! I asked them more than once where my sandwiches were and they just looked at me with a dumb look on their faces and said "the 2nd sandwich hasn't come thru yet." THEY WERE ORDERED AT THE SAME TIME!! I don't understand how one sandwich could be finished but the 2nd sandwich takes 20 additional minutes to make. This isn't rocket science people, it's filling an order for a sandwich!! There were at least 10 people that ordered after me but received their order before I did. By the time I received the order, my food was cold and my drink was watered down from waiting! I will never go back to any Penn Station ever again! Avoid at all costs!! This was the first time going to Penn Station and it will definitely be my last as well!! Came across this place while on my way to another lunch spot which was super busy, too busy to even pull into the parking lot.... What an amazing find! One thing I love about sandwich shops is simplicity, and the Penn Station menu is as simple as it gets as you walk in there is a list of 5 sandwiches on the left, their Specialty in big bold lettering with a nice image in the middle. And drinks and sides on the right. They are "famous" for their Cheese steak, homemade fresh cut fries and freshly squeezed lemonade. But my heart started pounding when I saw the Reuben. It's hard to find a great Reuben and since this was a nice east coast inspired sandwich shop I decided I had to go for it. THIS SHOULD BE THE FAMOUS SANDWICH omg it was freshly made to order and lightly toasted completely open faced and melted to perfection Swiss. I ordered the fresh cut fries and skipped the lemonade. From other reviews I noted many tips indicated to NOT FORGET the vinegar which I did not. I poured it all over the fresh cut fries and found my new favorite mix! This place is a gem and a wakeup call to the so called sandwich shops. It was extremely easy, fast and inexpensive. I will be back and most likely today as my stomach is roaring for this perfect sandwich shop as I write. read more

I received an e-mail with a free 6" sub coupon, so I decided to try out Penn Station on my lunch break. I ordered a Philly cheesesteak sandwich and it was very tasty. The ambiance is basically the same as any other sub place you go to, however the one up for me is that they have hot subs. Most sub restaurants don't really provide warm sub sandwiches or only provide a very limited amount of options. This was a reasonable price, under $5 for a 6" Philly Cheesesteak. It also came with a cookie, which was a very nice surprise. I went with two other individuals and they enjoyed their food as well. I would definitely go back again. read more

Found this place by accident & now I know we will be back. I had the Reuben sub & my daughter had the Chicken Cordon Bleu. Both were amazing. The fresh cut french fries are the best and the chocolate chip cookies are amazing. The staff was friendly & attentive making the whole experience even better. I give it 3 stars because it was excellent the first time I visited. Today, however I wanted to pick something up. I was well within business hours. I opened the doors and an employee who was in the back moping gave us the look of death and said something to the girl cleaning the grill. So we asked, if they were closed and I guess they didn't want to outright say no-- so they basically ignored us. Now I get it. It's Saturday and everyone wants to go home to their plans. But a simple we're closed or a smile would have went a long way. If I had seen they had already cleaned up I wouldn't have wanted them to have to redo it for our sake. I would have said its okay and went to chic fil a. I worked in customer service so I understand.. But I wouldn't have been rude like they were. The last time I visited we were greeted and felt welcomed. The closing team on 3-16-13 failed. I hope management sees this and corrects this because its not right. read more

I visited your Lombard location on 4/29/2013 at 2:40 pm. I was greeted by a gentleman with short light hair who was extremely helpful. He helped me with all of my questions, he then told me he would be able to cash me out at the other side of the counter. He processed my order quickly and efficiently and told me the food will be brought to my table. I proceeded to the drink station and it was free of spills and derbies. I filled my drink and noticed they were out of napkins and knives. I sat down and shortly after my food was brought out. The open face presentation was nice, I grabbed a French fry and it was ice cold. I took a second fry and it was Luke warm. Throughout my meal I concluded that the fries I was served we a mixture of old, cold fries from a previous order, and a few that were made for me. I found this quite disappointing. The chicken teriyaki sub was delicious although, a little more cheese would have been nice. I would have appreciated a manager or an employee to come out and check on my meal but I understand that all restaurants do not do that. Before I left I used the washroom which was clean but extremely dark, I've been out to bars and night clubs with better lit bathrooms. read more

They use some special bread that tastes great. I personally do not like fresh cut fries but a lot of people do so im not marking down for that.
