Honestly, I wasn't expecting this place to be as good as it was. I was pleasantly surprised. The food. Every piece of my food was cooked perfectly. Bacon, eggs, toast, everything. While this may not seem a big deal, but we had a big party with us, and our whole table got their food at the same time. It all looked good. Service. I came here around 12:30PM on Friday and it was just bustling!! I was actually surprised to see how busy it was when I walked in because you couldn't tell from the outside. Their demographic seemed to be 90% grandma and grandpas. I ordered my food to-go so I stood by the front door waiting, on my phone of course, and I thought to myself, "they're probably all looking at me like those damn millennials and their phones." I ordered my steak medium, and it was served well done, not a speck of pink. The eggs were cooked correctly. The hash browns and toast that this was served with were both on the verge of burnt. ************* Atmosphere: Spacious. This café is large; they have 3 sections, one outside on a gated patio. This review is only for the fish fry on Friday, since that all I've ever eaten there. The good- The Cod is always cooked perfect, the breading is flavorful and not bland like some batter other restaurants use on their fish. Very thin and light, crispy but not over cooked and it's never oily. Honestly, probably the best battered Cod I've had outside of California The bad- their tartar sauce! I love tartar sauce, especially on battered fish but theirs is sweet and really tastes gross. Tartar sauce is supposed to have dill and lemon and be based with a dill relish. It's obvious they either use sweet relish or add sugar to the sauce.. not good unless you like that sort of thing. read more

Don't do it. For a few reasons. Bring earplugs. The place is super loud. Don't order grits unless you like them undercooked. Don't expect the server to check on you. Ever. Don't expect coffee refills unless you flag someone, anyone, down. Just don't. Oh yes, When we got our check after my husband was done with his breakfast, he mentioned the grits (the only thing I ordered, a bowl of grits) were undercooked and at that time, the waitress offered to have them recooked. She apologized and I told her I understood she was busy. The waitress apologized which was kind of her and she had them take the grits off the bill which I think is standard but thank you for that. The demand did not seem high because there were empty tables but if coming during the week would provide cooked grits, maybe that's an awesome solution, Layla. And in response to the angry people talking about denying veterans and people with service animals. Its a bold faced lie. The patio is never closed and the business owner has the right to designate the patio for persons with service dogs. Now the ada says service dogs cannot be refused do to allergies. Cool. It also states that if someone with a service dog and others with allergies are in the same facility, they must be designated to a different section of the facility if possible. Thats exactly what the owner of the cafe does. She never denies someone with service dog and at the same time she looks out for her other customers that could possible have allegeries to the animal. And with all the fans constantly running keeping the dining room comfortable, the hair with the dander could effect a person who is allegeric very quickly. But the reason i leave one star is because looking into the kitchen, the server's making YOUR toast is not wearing gloves when touching peoples food! Having my parents who own a restaurant; I know the rules pretty well as the health inspector checks. The law starts; "Arizona State Health Code states that there should be no bare hand contact with ready-to-eat foods. Gloves and other barriers do not replace handwashing.
