I was trying to buy a simple fuse for my car and It was like pulling teeth trying to get any help for the associates. One associate was so incompetent​ he couldn't​t even point me to the​ pair of pliers I wanted to buy that was literally behind him. I've been taking my car to this Pep Boys for over 7 years or so. A week or so ago, I was driving home from LAX, and noticed that my headlight (one had already gone out awhile back), went out. I freaked out, and called Pep Boys to see if I could bring my car in before they closed. My 01 Cherokee was leaking oil from the oil filter adapter, it took a couple days to get the right O-rings but in the end... Josh (Srvc Mgr) took care of me. I've been coming here since 2009 but it's time for me to change mechanics. Pep Boys have become careless and it seems like they're hiring anyone now in days to service your car these guys don't even seem certified. They definitely need some customer service training ASAP and also need to respond when they say they will. If your a woman they will try to raise the price on you. WORST PLACE EVER!! DON'T EVER GO HERE!! Came in to get my breaks fixed because of funky noises. Picked it up, drove off come to find out that one of my headlights weren't working.. AND the noise was still there. Came back the next day told them what was going on and complained about the noise still being there and the headlight. Steve the worker that was helping us out told me that they were NOT RESPONSIBLE for the headlight not working. So of course I was a little confused why he would say that and gave him my two cents So after all that they took it in and checked it out again. So instead of them calling me when the car was going to be done I called and once they gave me the go, I came in to pick up my car. And I still had to wait another 15 minutes for them to give me my keys. So while waiting I asked where I would be able to find lights for my headlights. And Steve tells me that they already had it fixed out of "courtesy" and I just chuckled and repeated what he said and he gave me the dirtiest look. And I left.. After three days of driving my car I hear noises that I have never heard before in my life except in movies. The car sounded like it was going to break down. So I brought it back in today and told them to fix it. At this point I was furious. They acted like it was no problem and just said ok like it was a normal thing. Talked to the manager to make sure I got a different mechanic to work on it because obviously the mechanic that looked at it twice had no idea what he was doing. So when they finally took a look at it 3 hours later they found I had defective drums. And these were brand new that they installed!! And finally to top it off trying to get my keys back I found that they gave my keys to another customer. What a joke. Never again will I be using their service. Treat their customers like it is a hassle dealing with them and made me feel like I was the bad guy for their mistakes! I wasted two weekends there!! read more

I came in here a couple of weeks ago and had my oil changed. No big deal. Everything seemed fine. A few days later the switch that prevents your tail lights from staying on constantly wore out. So...I brought my car in to have it replaced. The guy calls me to report that the switch has been replaced, and tells me I should really let them change my oil for me because it's extremely dirty!!! I calmly told him I paid them just a few days earlier to change my oil. Then I asked him whether he was lying now about having seen my "extremely dirty oil" to get more money out of me this transaction, or had they honestly not changed my oil the first time earlier in the week and just happily taken my money with no service completed. The other end of the line went silent for a moment and then he told me he'd look into it personally. He never apologized. Either way, they were trying to pull some dishonest shenanigans! My "service" took place 7 months ago, but I'm just getting to the review now. Staff ran expensive diagnostics, told me they couldn't do anything for my car other than do an oil change and "hope for the best", even though I had a good idea about what needed fixing/replaced, PURCHASED part from PepBoys ahead of time. They sent me home with a very expensive bill, unnecessary oil change even after I voiced my concerns about that not being the problem, and staff suggested I go to a different mechanic. Went to a second mechanic and sure enough the problem was what I had assumed the problem was the first time around, and had to pay pretty much the same amount of money for service that should have been provided by PepBoys. Essentially paid PepBoys for absolutely nothing other than to be completely irritated. When I took my car in smog-related repair a few weeks later I told my woes to an employee and they said they are constantly hearing about the poor service provided by this location in particular. I don't recommend PepBoys, but if you HAVE to go to one, at least choose another location. There's a location in Burbank, on Burbank Blvd that's much better. It's still not always great, but it's better. The manager (I think he's the manager) was professional with me, but he alone doesn't make up for the company altogether. read more

The battery in my 2002 lincoln ls was very weak last night;i called aaa road service for a jump start.After aaa gave me a jump start,i drove my car over to Pep Boys on olive ave in burbank just as they were getting ready to close up for the night.They had not even completed some of their auto repairs for that night,yet Jesus Sanchez Campos,the night mgr agreed to replace my battery himself rather than have me leave my car at Pep Boys overnight and arrange for Uber to take me home and the next day get Uber to take me back to Pep Boys and pick up my car. Jesus worked overtime to accomodate me, a senior citizen, and i am very grateful. I can't say enough about Jesus's attitude and his willingness to help me out. Made an appointment for an oil change online. The oil change was suppose to come with a courtesy vehicle inspection but I don't think it was performed. I had my oil changed earlier in the year at a different mechanic and they suggested then that I needed a new air filter back in June. I declined at the time. Pep Boys did not suggest anything nor did they recommend anything on my car needed to be looked at or fixed. It also took an hour and twenty minutes for just the oil change. The building they are working out of is very dated and not kept up as well. In the waiting area the ceiling is covered with spider webs and doesn't look like its been cleaned for months. The service desk rep was nice so that is the only thing saving this from being one star. I will not be back to this location. read more

Have an accord and was having some issues with the brakes - I got the car here to go assessment and they gave me a long list of items - front and rear brakes replacement, air filter replacement, serpentine belt replacement, battery replacement & many more - total cost 850$. I was sure that most of them were fine and no replacement was needed - the technician was not ready to provide me the details. I asked him to show me what they checked and how did he come to conclusion that these stuffs were to be replaced. He was reluctant and hence I just didnt care to get anything done. I got the car to Honcura - Glendale & got the rear brakes replaced & 90K servicing for apprx 300$. Nothing else was to be changed ... surely a place not to visit !!! read more

I had to make the dreaded trip to the auto mechanic today. It's a visit that every single person who isn't a mechanic absolutely hates, myself more than most. I have been going to the Pep Boys in Burbank ever since I moved to this city 15 years ago. There are numerous reasons why I have continued to be a loyal customer despite the fact that there are a lot of auto shops in the area. First and foremost, they warranty their parts and keep excellent computerized records of everything they do with your beloved (or not so beloved) LA mode of transportation. I have also found them to be quite reliable, and perhaps most importantly, they are not deceptive nor do they lie to steal hard earned money out of my wallet. What do you know? An honest auto shop! A couple days ago, I was driving on the 5 freeway and my "check engine" light went on as my car began to sputter a bit. I had thought it was because the oil was low so I took the first immediate offramp, parked, let the engine cool, replaced the oil and all seemed good. A week went by without incident. Then today unfortunately, my "check engine" light went on again and I drove right away to my trusted preference of Pep Boys. Which reminds me of another reason why I continue to go here. How many auto garages/repair shops are open on Sundays? Not many that I know of. I was helped by Daniel and left the keys with Jose, the mechanic trusted to do the diagnostic on my car. Thank goodness for both of these guys. They made my visit as painless as possible and were 100% completely honest with me. While I was waiting for the diagnostic results, I quickly went online to do a google search of the car symptoms. This often times will pull up similar questions with reliable answers from people who are in the profession of whatever the question is. Almost all of the answers seemed to indicate it could be related to the sparkplugs and perhaps issues with one or more of the cylinders not firing correctly. Guess what the end result was? A sparkplug seal had cracked allowing oil into the 2nd cylinder which was misfiring. Not only was Jose (the mechanic) completely open and honest with me, he assured me that it wasn't anything too major and that he would have it running by the time they closed at 6pm. It was 4:15! Daniel was also a pleasure as he seemed genuinely concerned about my car as well as my finances and did everything possible to get me a fair price on the parts and labor. Just as promised by Daniel, I returned at 10 minutes to 6 and Jose was already test driving the Toyota to ensure everything was running great. I cannot emphasize enough how incredible not only was the customer service offered by Daniel, but the repair work and care with my old car given by Jose! Both guys were unbelievable considering now a days every business is trying everything possible to claw their way into your wallet or purse. These guys are simply stellar, and if I were to ever open a store that relied on auto services, I would recruit these two individuals immediately. I truly hope they are as appreciated by the Pep Boys company as they are by individuals such as myself. It is because of Daniel and Jose that I will continue to keep going to Pep Boys in Burbank and I highly recommend that you do the same. But only if you want honest and reliable repair work that is also good!:) read more

I recently went in to get my tail light fixed. I found the assistant manager to be rather rude. Didn't greet me in a friendly way, barely made eye contact etc. He quoted me 35 minutes to change a tail light. Now I don't expect them to drop everything to change my tail light but it took them 45 minutes which is outside of what they quoted me when we all know it takes one minute to actually do. I should've just done it myself. Furthermore, the waiting area and restroom were absolutely disgusting and filthy. We saw at least four dead cockroaches. The waiting room has filth/sludge on the walls. I felt like I needed to go home and take a shower. They need to hire a cleaning crew. The girls who work in the retail area were friendly and polite and ultimately, my light now works, so I gave it two stars, but if the cleanliness of this location is any indication, then pep boys does not care about their customers or the customer experience. These guys were great! I had a flat tire and all I needed to do was plug it up. All I did was buy the repair kit from them and they let me use their tools to do it myself. They could have charged me for everything and refused to help but were awesome guys. Ask for Octavio and the guys at the service Parts. They will help you out when in need! read more

Called to make an appointment for a smog check...told if I brought it in a certain time they'd get me in. Great...not the cheapest but not most expensive and close by. Get there...wait in serivce line for 15 minutes...mind you there was only 1 person being helped and only one person to help him...so not a busy time. STAY AWAY! This place took my money and didn't even fix my jeep. They took about $600. I went back 3 times because ever time they said my jeep was fixed a day later my check engine light would come on. Every time they said they had to hook it up to a diagnostic machine this cost $99. They said they would kindly wave the fee. Let me talk about this fee because this was the first red flag that these GUYS SUCK! Non of there mechanics know anything about repairing a vehicle they just rely on a computer to tell them. Then the $99 diagnostic fee is used to make you feel like they are helping you out. Do not go here. Ever. Made the mistake of buying a battery here last year. When it went defective less than a year later, they no longer had our battery in stock, only one that was twice as much. They said the only Pep Boys with our battery was in Anaheim, so they gave us a "battery credit slip" and told us we had to drive to Anaheim, they couldn't ship it to us. Oh, and they kept our battery. So, I reserved the battery online and we drove to Anaheim, only to find out that since they kept our battery, the "battery credit slip" was basically useless. I was very disappointed. As a woman on my own I feel I was taken advantage of. I paid $200 to get a headlight replaced. The headlight is an expensive one almost $100 but the fact that they charged me another $100 in labor for 30 minutes was bad. Then the service supervisor told me I needed all new tires. I purchased 4 new Michelin tires less than a year ago and even a fool like me can see that there was plenty of tread. He then told me that my brakes looked like they were worn out. In the last few weeks I have had received excellent service in two different trips. The 1st one, Artur, Jack and Jesus were excellent at getting me a written estimate pretty quickly on my 2003 Ford Explorer. When my husband decided we weren't going to invest in the major repairs that it needed, Jesus really stepped up and reminded me in a time of panic to be sure to get everything out of it--all the nooks and crannies until we had it picked up for donation. Tonight after driving my "new to me" car a warning light showed up on my display and the dealer's service department was closed so I took a shot and drove it to Pep Boys on Olive (very close to where I live) and Jesus once again was very helpful and took a quick look at it and minutes determined that I had not tightened the gas cap on tightly which caused the light. I was told it would take 10 minute wait and 1/2 hr. to put a new tire on my car. It was a Sunday. I stood in line for 15 minutes because the Manager decided to leave even though there was a long line. I got the paperwork done and then was told it would take 1 hr to fix my car. While I was waiting for a friend to come and get me, I saw a tow truck deliver a broken down car. I serviceman then pulled a car out of the bay and ran it directly into the broken car. He didn't even look in the rear view mirror. The woman that had been behind me in line then told me they tried to over charge her for replacement of a hose. The garage next to Pep Boys did it for her instead. I came back at 5:35pm. They close at 6:00. It was an hour and 1/2 later. They hadn't even looked at the car. When I asked why nothing had been done, I was told it would take a very long time. I only needed one tire. Don't come to this place!!! read more

i scheduled an appointment for a/c service at 9 am on a Saturday, when the service writer told me the technician's shift started. So i dropped off my car right in front of the store expecting it to go into a bay within 10 or 15 minutes. Rich, the service writer, told me it would be 3-4 hours for the work to be done. I called at 1 pm for a status report and he said they were backed up with repairs from the previous evening that were taking longer than expected and they would not be able to look my car that day. I went to retrieve my car. It was in the exact same spot, the only thing they had done was unlock it and leave it that way, unlocked. For 5 hours my car was subjected to their customers going in and out of the store banging their car doors against my car. My a/c was not fixed but the body of my car got 2 door dents Rich would not take responsibility for. My previous Pep Boys experiences at other Pep Boys had been positive so I gave this store a chance to redeem itself. I scheduled an appt. for the following Saturday at 9 am. Rich said to call at 9 to make sure his tech had shown up to work. When i called, I was put on hold for 40 min. i drove to the store, still on my cell phone on hold to find out what the hell was going on. Rich was there, he told me the manager had not shown up to open the store and that the tech had not reported for work. UNBELIEVABLE. read more
