They have a place on line to set up appointments. I made an appointment a while ago for an alignment and when I got there they said they didn't have anyone there that could do the alignment that day. I went to another place and had my alignment done. I made an appointment for a state inspection today and when I was on the way there, they called and said they didn't have any appointments available today and the first appointment I could get was in 4 days. They also said their appointment system online doesn't work and we should call to make appointments. I told them if it doesn't work, they should remove it rather than let people think they have appointments when they don't. He said he has been trying to fix this for a decade now. Again, I took my business somewhere else. I will not be making anymore reservations with them. If they can't fix something as easy as reservations, I have to question their ability to fix cars. read more

"20 Stars" for Rafael !! My "Oh, so smart son" decided to pick leaves out of the engine of his 2018 (still under warranty ) Crosstrek with a pair of tweezers (that happened to have a rubber grip) and dropped the tweezers in his engine !!! Took his car to Rafael/Pep Boys, no problem. Tweezers removed and no damage to engine. So even the "little things" are resolved with care. I've been here before for a tire patch and was happy with my service (price, wait time and customer service). Great Job Rafael/Pep Boys !!! UPDATE: Tire pressure constantly going down in one tire. We ended up going to another place and they found that one of the tire sensors was broken. We had to pay $80 to get a new one in. We went to pep boys for the same reason and they would "change" sensors but it never resolved the problem. I'd definitely not come here again and stick with a small business tire shop they are so much more reliable! read more

This review is for service. Booked my appointment online 2 days in advance and found a great deal - 4 tires plus installation and an alignment for a total of $434! I even received a call the day prior to confirm my appointment. Saturday arrived, and I dropped off my car 9:30 am. I was told by the friendly associate that I would receive a call when it was done since I wasn't going to be waiting onsite. I didn't expect it to take more than 2 hours, but figured they might be busy. 4 hours later I still had not received a call, so I decided to check in. Apparently my car had been done for awhile and no one had bothered to call and let me know! This surprised me because thus far I had experienced nothing but good things from Pep Boys. I went back and paid for my service, once again receiving friendly customer service from the associate. I informed him of what had happened and he apologized. All in all, my car was in great shape when I drove away and I reflected on the experience that I had. Price and friendliness were great, but next time I expect a call when my car is ready. Tesla scheduled maintenance, basically a tire rotation...8am appointment, i was there when doors opened, gave some info and gave him the key, worker says it should be about an hour. After 2 hours of sitting in waiting in sitting area while car has not been touched... I ask Zachary if there is some kind of problem, Zachary seemed bothered that i would ask. He goes around looking for paperwork that he never found. So i could have sat there for 5 hours, without paperwork the car was never going to get serviced. Zachary asked if I wanted to continue waiting but still could not find paperwork and still could not tell me how much longer I would need to wait. Worst experience at a Pep Boys location so far. Got a call about an hour before my appointment to have my appointment pushed back 30 minutes because "they were going to lunch". Now I have been waiting for over 3 hours and my car is not done yet What is the point of having an appointment if they are not going to respect the appointment time. This is beyond disrespectful since this people do not take into consideration that people have plans and plan their day accordingly. Well, my day didn't go as planned. Just don't go to this Pep Boys in general. I got there, just to get pressure in my front drivers side tire. They told me no problem and checked the tire for any punctures or nails. I appreciated that but then they checked the entire car and all the tires. Ricardo told me they found two nails and they couldn't repair one of the punctures from the nails. I told him I just don't have the money for a new tire right now. He then had me wait for a good HOUR just to tell me that he's waiting on info about a new tire. I REPEAT. I did not want a new tire. I didn't have the money. I only arrived there for air in my tire. Why all this extra stuff? They just want my money.... They put the old tire in my trunk and put the spare on. I then went to my usual tire spot (yes I should have gone there at first) at Salgado Tire Service in Pico Rivera. I would have gone there first but I didn't really need to drive from Downey into Pico for air.... So end of story. Ricardo at Pep Boys told me they couldn't repair the tire. Guess what Pep Boys? Salgado fixed it. Was that so difficult? Or did you just want me to spend money on a new tire.... I just bought those 4 new tires about a year ago. I know things happen, but don't lie about the fact it can't be fixed. It can, and it did. Oh I should add, on the report? They only added that the tire had feathering, not nails. They had to go back and add the nails. I couldn't even trust them to know their own information. Salgado confirmed the nails but they said it was an EASY fix. Saved $400.. I always get a little excited about going this pep Boys. I like how the store is big! And then I remember that this place is a bummer! I got there early not really any customers . Plenty of employees. one dude charging his phone and staring at instead of trying to help the new guy at the register who can't find the roll of paper to print my receipt. And the zombie management that give that vibe like please don't make me work a little for the $120.00 of stuff you're buying. And I'm kind of mad I could of gotten a free item if they would of rang it up separately oh well. I was hesitant to write a review, however there could have been additional damage to my car, so I do want to share my experience. I came here for an engine diagnostic on a Sunday due to the check engine light being on. The first thing I want to comment on is the customer service. This location is VERY busy, and despite that, they did me a solid to squeeze me in which is why I did want to give some stars. I did have to leave my car overnight as they needed a further look in order to get me a quote. Upon receiving the quote and repairs needed, I let them know I would be picking up my car as I needed it for work and would make a decision as to what to do next. Check out process was smooth, I paid for the diagnostic and went to get my car, however I noticed right away that something was wrong. Upon unlocking the door, the radio was on, without keys in the ignition and the main screen (I have a digital navigation system/radio was on an error screen). This alone could have drained my battery, however when I asked for help, the first auto tech basically told me "he didn't know what was going on because they didn't work on the computer". To be fair, I doubt he was the original tech who worked on the car. They did get a manager who apologized, opened up the car and worked on it until they were able to remove the error screen and fix the issue. I thanked him and I left. My dad came by that afternoon to check the paperwork and take a look at the parts they mentioned I needed to see if we would be able to do the repairs ourselves now that they had identified the issue. This is where the real issue was. Upon popping the hood, we immediately noticed that there was not 1, but 3 hoses left unplugged back into the part they had recommended I replaced. 1 plug, I can understand could have been a mistake or possibly popped off, however they were completely off. Thankfully I live close to the shop, or this could have caused additional damage to the car. We were able to do the repair ourselves and fix the issue thanks to the diagnostic provided, so I do appreciate that, however the hoses being left unplugged was a major oversight. Thankfully I had help and was able to avoid additional damage. I really encourage some type of final check up process to ensure this doesn't happen to other customers. read more

Awful customer service! Attempted to drop my car off this morning for brakes service and all I heard is what they couldn't do because "the manager wasn't there". Will never visit this location again. Called the Friday prior and an appointment was made. The following Monday morning I show up to drop off the car and the reps because asking each if they can do this or that, the other replying "no, I don't know how to do it". After wasting my time for 10-15min fidgeting on the keyboard, he finalizes that they aren't able to complete the work. Complete waste of time! I contact the PB location literally around the corner and they take my vehicle in with no issues. Proving that these guys were just playing lazy! Thank you Jose and Richard for the great customer service. I must say I called at least the top ten businesses that did break fluid and Star Smog service. As usual I dilligently checked for best prices and even the smog service dedicated website with "great value coupons" did not beat your value on both counts smog and break fluid. Now for the downside. The shop sits in a corner mall which is being remodeled and the shops all got a new face-lift. It's a notorious hangout for a few homeless. There is a local post office which is also filthy a Sizzlers and beloved Fish and Chips cash only! Also a Crimson Coward not to mention the 1st McDonald's all which offer a hang out refuge while your car is serviced and stay clear off the fumes. This Pep Boys is undergoing a switch over to a joint venture with Pep Boys and are doing extensive renovations inside the store itself, although other than the isles being removed I didn't observe interior construction. It has been in transformation for quite a while that I know of since I am a local. In the meantime, the place is ratty, and filthy the chairs in the makeshift waiting area are an embarrassment to this chain store establishment. You'd think they could afford to buy 6 plastic picnic chairs a fan and filter? Your customers deserve better. The sitting area is closed in filled with that God awful smell of rubber and for sure cannot be healthy for anyone, not your customers who sit there without ventilation for any amount of time much less your employees who have no choice. I'm not an expert but Don't think this Meets Osha standards. The 5 stars are solely for the young men that helped me out. A big thank you young men for making sure my car got taken care of, it was nice killing time and chatting with you. Much appreciate your good manners and service. read more

I've been a frequent flyer at this location for the past 12 years and they have never disappointed. Unfortunately my last visit was just okay. I took my car in for Honda maintenance and an oil change which was done in a timely manner. I noticed on my way to work that my oil percentage was saying 50% which made no sense considering I just had the oil changed so it should have been at 100%. Turns out they forgot to reset the oil pressure sensor. I get it, stuff happens and people forget things. Since I was busy at work, my boyfriend had to take my car in for me to get this issue fixed. Again, no biggie, just a minor inconvenience. What was disappointing was getting my car back to me with giant oil finger prints on the interior. I understand how difficult things can be during these times (COVID), I work in customer service myself, but this was just frustrating. read more

I was driving in the area and I noticed my oil light came on. I checked my oil and I noticed that it was low. I use catrol edge 5W-30 in my car so we know the bottle is black, I knew I seen a bottle in my trunk and I went to get it and put it in my oil fill tube. Synthetic Oil is not expensive here. Services was pleasant here. I just leave my car for service and they call me when it's ready. I can walk around there since there's stores around the area. When they say it will take an hour... they literally get it done by then or before. Which it's impressive. I had my kids with me that day and thank goodness they didn't take any longer than that. Pricing is a bit tricky. If you are a member... they send coupon via email. I always check if I can some how get a coupon somewhere. I always love to find a deal and coupon. I had a tire that was low so I went there to have them fix it for me. I waited more than 2 hours for them to them to fix it only to get a full flat tire less than a hour of having my car back. If that wasn't bad enough they sent their tow truck which took another 3 more hours! It gets better when I arrived back to the place instead of taking care of my car right away since they did mess up I had to wait another 3 hours until my car was ready. Safe to say I will not be returning even though they did give me a free tire. read more
