So my wife has lifetime alignment at this Pep Boys location. She took her car in because it was pulling to the left. They said the tie rods needed replacement and the tires were cracking and also needed to be replaced. They had a deal where if you purchase 3 tires you get 1 free. We went ahead and purchased the tires; replaced the tie rods; and got the alignment done. On the way home, my wife found the car was still pulling to the left. After looking closer at the receipt we found that they actually charged us for the fourth tire. We brought the car back to Pep Boys and got a refund for the fourth tire. We also had them redo the alignment. They said they couldn't align the car properly because now the axle needed replacement. That's when we decided to go bring the car somewhere else. I brought the car to a reputable car shop (Salerno's) and they found that all 4 wheels were unbalanced. They also found that all tire pressures were way off. They did the tire alignment and now the car drives straight and smooth. They also found there wasn't anything wrong with the axle. I don't know if this Pep Boys location intentionally tried to rip us off by having us purchase unnecessary parts and services or if they're just incompetent. All I know is I'll never ever ever come back to this location again. If you don't want to waste your time and money, I suggest you don't come here either. read more

If I could give 100 stars I would! Let me first start by saying exceptional customer service! My first impression was beyond what I expected. I was at the gym and noticed I had a flat tire and with only 3 minutes to closing I called and spoke with Javier and I explained to him my situation and that I was 5minuets away. Javier reassured me that he will stay open and wait for me to get there and take care of the tire for me. I got there and was immediately greeted and taken care or fast and efficient! I normally go to a tire shop less that 2miles away and recently just purchased a tired and wasn't even advised that the other tire was worn. Moving forward I will be going to this location as well as spreading the work to family and friends how valued I felt and how he genuinely cared about my situation. Way to go! Took my car here a couple weeks ago and they did a full service checkup to see if I needed anything replaced. When picking up my car they said I need new rear drum brakes because they never had been turned since I got my car. They told me I basically had 0 back breaks and there was "nothing to turn" because there was nothing there. Decided to wait and think about if I wanted to pay a lot of money to do the work. Went to take them to get them turned myself at a different shop and they said they were practically new! Also not to mentioned looked like they never had been taken off my car. Came here for a tire change. Something punctured my tire on the freeway. I immediately exited and checked to see if any shops were still open, since it was almost 6pm. Luckily pep boys was open till 7. I called and the service manager Casillas was very helpful. He told me they would still squeeze me in and help me even though they still had a few jobs they were working on before close. Casillas met me as soon as I pulled up. He identified where the puncture had occured in the side wall. Unfortunately I was going to half to get a new tire. While they didn't have my specific tire in stock, he was able to get it in next day. They put the spare on for me really quickly and I was out of there in about 10 minutes with my new matching tire on the way. Came in the next day and my wheel and tire was ready and waiting to be put on. Very short wait. Overall, the service, speed and helpfulness was top notch. Would definitely recommend. read more

There are so many other bussiness that compete in the area. This Pep Boys is the kind that tells you things and then after you commit, it's a different story. They also take WAY too long to perform services. They look like they are low on mechanics. Maybe consider "Cars like us, because they're not sentient!" They were not rude or condescending. This is the second time I have gone to this Pep Boys and been treated horribly. First time was for an oil change, I scheduled an appointment at 8am (first appt time) was there until after noon and asked Steve why my car hadn't moved while others did and he stated Covid and staffing. But they had staffing to service others before the first scheduled appointment? Did not get out of there till 2:30pm. Second time I scheduled an 11am appointment to recheck my brakes as I had them serviced by Pep Boys in Yuciapa and they were still squeeking. I paid for the brake warrenty. Went to the counter and encountered Paul who told me even though I had an appointment it was going to be a wait. Paul then asked if I had the paperwork from other Pep Boys. When I told him I did not he then said the wait would be longer as the Pep Boy computers do not talk to one another and he would need to call them and it would add more time. I then told Paul his tone and whole demeaner was mean. He just shrugged at me. This time after 1 1/2 hours and my car not moving I left. Extreamely Poor customer service. Called Pep Boys because their Google and Yelp say they close at 7pm, and Google shows that hours were changed by the owner only 10 weeks ago. Either the owner doesn't know that the employees are leaving early or this was changed in error, because I was told today at 5 that they close at 6. When I explained that my significant other is in a car that is overheating and would be passing through this shop at 6 on the way to get home, the woman I spoke to said she would ask if the tech wanted to stay to help. My partner, as I told them, was just at a close relative's funeral and we were worried he couldn't make it home. A quick hold later and she tells me that no, they won't be helping us, but we could drop the car off overnight. I explained again that my significant other would be passing through to get home so that is still an hour away from where we live. Asked for recommendations for somewhere that would take us or be open and she said no. Really awesome service, guys. I would never ever expect anyone to take us in after closing, but I'm inclined to believe based on your business hours that this wasn't true. We have loved ones in Redlands who can hopefully help, but I'm sure they won't be using you guys after this either. read more

Way over priced. They over charge for everything. I had a brake inspection done on my 2007 honda accord. The tech told me that there was an 70$ brake inspection charge. So I asked what an brake inspection was? An he told me, it was for me to do my job an laughed. But I found out what he was talking about, he meant that pep boys charges you a fee for what ever you think is wrong with your car. If you tell them that you have an engine problem? They will charge you a fee, then look for that problem. But if it something else an they find it, there will be another fee. Be careful this place is for people who know nothing about cars, an that they can easily over charge. Truth! You will be OVER CHARGED! I walked in there with one bad rotor an bad brake pads as of 12/2022 they wanted $710.00. I went across the street from them an they quoted me a price of $45.00. Stay away from this place!! Horrible customer service, and severe lack of knowledge about tire fitment. I special ordered Cooper tires and scheduled an appointment to have them installed. I showed up 30 min early only to be told that they didn't stock my tires. Upon informing them that I ordered them 10 days earlier, they searched to find them only to then tell me it would be a 3 hour wait. I explained that I had an appointment. The response was, "we're busy so we'll get to it when we can". I drove an hour for this appointment, btw. I was told conflicting information about valve stems, they never asked how I'd like the tires mounted, never went over the bill, didn't give me the tire registration and warranty info and gave me a bill with another customers name on it. During my miserable 3 1/2 hour wait, I asked how large a tire I could fit on my pickup and the responded, "I don't know, probably the next size up" Stay far away from these hacks! read more

This review is intended to recognize superior service from Javier. We had to come off the mountain to get chains to be allowed to get back up in order for my kids to see the snow. The chains we had didn't fit due to a dealer putting the wrong size tire on our doorjam. Javier made sure we got the right chains, made sure we got the 25% online promo, and then went above and beyond by actually coming out and putting the chains on my tire to show my husband how to install them and to be sure they fit this time. The peace of mind in going back up the mountain made our entire trip down and back up worth it. The service here has gotten much worst than I can put into words. I came to get an oil change around 6pm as I was promised when I called earlier. The manager (Not sure) granted my service which was much appreciated, but the customer service I received from the cashier that serviced me, cashier #481329 gave no notification what service I was getting, the type of oil I am giving, nor how long is the wait. My partner and I could have got our grub nearby than waiting 2-3 hours. The cashier gave no acknowledgement that my car was done. He saw me a few times glancing at him, but to no acknowledgment to let me know of the status of my car. It was only then when I walked up to the cashier station to ask on the status on my car as I saw my car was done and sitting in the parking lot. We went to get our truck to work on. We've had no problems in the past. We declined road hazard because of Out of State residence and it is not honored there. We then when we got home after picking up the truck and we saw that they charged us for the road hazard. We called and they said we would need to come back down so they could run the credit card to give us credit back. We had to go back and get refunded. More time out of our day. Jose at store said "oh well he "the person that added charge" was just trying to help you out. Please make sure you guys check your bills before you leave because if we had not been scrutinizing the bill that was another $65 and they pocketed (we got a discount for being seniors), normally $80.00. For something that we didn't need or ask for. Looks like will be looking for business elsewhere. Looks like they always add on the charge without asking customers since they most likely get some kind of bonus or percentage to the store. How many other customers have they done this too. My family owned and operated an auto repair shop for years and there is no way I can believe your service has always been this horrendous. I personally had a bad experience at your shop after I was quoted the promotional price and a service member called trying to change my service to something that I don't need a family sedan, (ceramics and drilled, double vent rotars). You seemed shocked that I knew what I wanted down to the parts and oil not to mention how much time you should charge and the actual time it would take. So why would we go back? Only because my husband's company contracts you to work on their trucks and vans. You really expect me to believe that the cat went out at 80k miles? It didn't smell, and it was passing smog easily. We got a flat we drove all the way over there because we do not live really extra close to Redlands but we purchased the hazard insurance with pepboys in Redlands, so my husband drives over there gets there and they tell him it's a 4 hour wait to repair the tire, what are we supposed to tell our tires Do not need help when Pep Boys is busy. America's tires would never do this so we will never buy tires or hazard insurance from pepboys again. We have already stopped getting service with them after they didn't fill the oil when we would get oil changes, and then this. No wonder they're closing stores across the country. Scam alert! Brought my 2015 Nissan rogue in for a quick oil change with an appointment. After taking my information the employee told me it would cost $79.99 for synthetic oil. I said the Nissan dealership charges $35 for the same service! Apparently because I'm a woman I must be stupid and naive? Took my keys and left and called Redlands Nissan to get 3 oil changes for $49 or 1 oil change for $34.99 this afternoon. Avoid this Pep Boys chain as they only take advantage of customers. read more

First, I want to say that this review is not critical of Pep Boys. In fact, I trust the San Bernardino Pep Boys store. They've always been efficient and fair-priced. Their service manager named Corey is a constant reassurance of good service and good word. However, when I had my 1996 Isuzu Rodeo taken to the REDLANDS Pep Boys for a simple oil change and transmission fluid change; I had some guy call me and ask me if I ever had over-heating problems. I told him that I never have. Then he told me that "coolant was SPEWING out" when the car was running. I didn't understand how the cooling system was suddenly acting up. Especially when it just a change of 2 fluids that was to be done. When the car was picked up; there was no coolant spewing. There was a slight drip that I easily fixed at home. This guy who called me (I can't remember his name) was not only inaccurate about his diagnosis, but he was constantly interrupting me over the phone when I asked questions ("I've never had a cooling problem before. Don't you think it odd that suddenly coolant is spewing out, when all you were supposed to do was take a oil bolt out, drain oil, put the bolt back in and put in new oil?" was one of the questions he couldn't answer; and kept interrupting as I asked them). This Redlands store does not change my opinion of Pep Boys. As long as the discounts are good, and the great service from Corey and others at San Bernardino keep coming; then I'll always go to the San Bernardino store. However, I don't trust the people at the Redlands store, and have made sure to spread the word whenever friends ask me where to take their car. read more

The worst automotive experience I've had and I worked in a shop for years. They did not provide options but tried to sucker us into the most expensive service package. I don't drive a racecar, so I don't need ceramic pads, I don't need drilled or coated disks. Also, why does changing oil and breaks take me a half hour at most but your mechanic took an hour and a half?? We had a 9am appointment but the car wasn't done until after 3pm. I left work tonight to find my tire pressure indicator light on. My rear passenger tire had only 15 lbs of pressure. I was able to get air in it long enough to get to Pep Boys. This was the only tire shop with website hours saying they were open til 7pm. When I arrived at 6:27pm all of the doors were locked but one of the bays were open and there was a worker present. I asked if they were closed and explained I had a nail in my tire and that I just needed a plug. He went inside and had a manager come out to talk to me. I explained my story again and he said they were closed. I reminded him of the website hours and he told me the website was wrong and that they will change the hours when daylight savings changes???WTH??? I will call tomorrow and speak with a manager. Wish I would've gotten his name but I know he was not telling the truth. He also told me that with my tires they could not just plug the tire. I told him he could and that I've had the same thing happen with another tire on this car and it's been fine ever since it was plugged 9 months ago!! Obviously he did not want to help me. I think it's sad when your business is to help, if you can and you don't. I run a business myself and I would never treat a customer like that and blatantly lie. I brought my car 5 months ago, paid into the oil change and tire rotation deal. I thought is was a great deal. But, the day I took it in the guy behind the counter told me I needed new tires, and they could not do the tire rotation unless I got all 4 new tire, sounded crooked to me, so I went across the street and that tire company said my tires were still good for a while and they would be happy to do a tire rotation for me. I had an appointment at 9am to do a diagnostic test, due to my check engine light being on. I was on time, and due to two customers ahead of me, I checked in at 9:07am. I verified that they had the correct cell number and told the gentleman that I was going to McDonalds to grab some breakfast and I was back in about 30-45min. Not knowing how long a diagnostic test actually takes, I was being patient. About 11:45am, after not hearing anything, I googled how long does a diagnostic test take. I was very surprised to find out it should only take a few minutes. So I immediately went up to ask what was the status. The same gentleman said it was complete and explained what the vehicle needed. He apologized for the wait as if the work had just been completed. After I had left I was surprised that the completed work order was time-stamped 9:37am. So for 2 hours I waited around and for 2 hours I was not notified. I wonder how long I truly would have waited until I was told when the vehicle was ready. The outcome should have been so much different. Shame. read more

Had a pretty horrible experience here. Only reason I'm not giving it 1 star is because one of the employees was very nice. Had it not been for him, I would have probably walked out and gone somewhere else. I went last night and asked how much the oil change was and after he told me the price I said I would like to get one done to my Honda and he kinda rudely said that they weren't doing any more that night. Totally fine, I made an appointment for the next morning at 8am. I drive over this morning and I pull up to the side and I wait where it says to wait. I sat there patiently not rushing anyone but I rolled down my window expecting to be greeted or at least told to wait but no, instead of saying anything to me, 2 of the employees look over at me with an annoyed look on their face and then walk away. At one point I though that one of the gentlemen was going to walk over to me but nope! He was simply walks over a little to put out his cigarette and then he walks back in the garage and closes the chain behind him. I'm a very nice guy and very patient and at no point was I rushing them but I made plenty of eye contact hoping someone would have the decency to come over and let me know I would have to wait longer.... After all, I did have an appointment. I was continued to be ignored until 8:15 when an employee walking inside the garage (no where near my vehicle) yells out to me "we'll be right with you!". Finally a nice employee comes over to my car (very friendly guy) and he takes care of me and gets the paperwork filled out and I go inside to wait. My car was finished and parked in front of the store and I still waited another 15 minutes for them to let me know it was finished so I could pay and they were not even busy. They also did not put the sticker on my car so I can know when to get the next one. I'm not a difficult customer, I am always very nice including this time but I did not appreciate being ignored and I almost felt like I was not wanted there at all. I made an appointment to get an oil change and an alignment because usually they make it seem that if you don't make an appointment you're going to be waiting for an hour before you can request service, and trust me I have. My sister brought her car here for an oil change and 2 new tires. Almost paid close to $600 for services. Exactly 2 weeks later I take the car some where else to have front brakes changed and was informed that two of the lug nuts & studs had to be broke because they hadn't been torqued properly. Which caused a $65 extra charge to replace! Customer service was garbage. Upon arrival to pay for the sevices nobody greeted us (2 women and child). We were left waiting for someone to help us for about 10 minutes before a man sitting behind the counter reading a magazine informed us that someone will be with us shortly.
