This place is known for Sichuan food which is spicy. I like my food mild spicy so I asked for the peppercorn fish and the lotus root skewer to be a bit mild on spice. How did they do? Perfection! Still can taste the spiciness without my tongue screaming in pain! They really customize it well. Even the peppercorn still had enough numbing to it that you felt it but didn't overwhelm you or the taste. But the surprising dish wasn't those 2. It was the dessert. The Osmanthas rice cake was so soft and fluffy and not sour but sweet and light. If you ever had Chinese rice cake dessert, you'll notice some are sour for no reason other than probably because it is not fresh. We'll this place is fresh or it taste like it is. Now I'm curious about their other dessert. This place could be a hidden gem. Service was good except this one waitress who looked like the world is about to end when you ask her for more napkins. This place is bustling. All the tables were placed kinda close together which I wasn't a fan of. The chili fried chicken we ordered had the most tiniest pieces of chicken, like barely any chicken. The chicken pieces were smaller then my pinkie nail and just breaded and fried and then thrown in with a crap ton of dried chilies, and fried taro fries. everything else was just mediocre for me.. we left still hungry and was down like $80 already from that meal... not worth it. I decided to try their new place since they moved near Hilton Hotel. Surprisingly, their decor is pretty nice with comfortable chairs. It's smaller than the previous location but it's still quite nice. I went around lunch time and ordered the crispy pork and country fried pork. The country fried was good. It's a bit spicy but pretty well seasoned. It used thin slices of pork belly which was quite good, not overly fatty. The crispy pork on the other hand, I would recommend skipping. There's no crispiness at all. It's soaked in the thick somewhat salty sauce that didn't do much to the dish. Overall, the lunch was good. The mini hot pot filled with various meat, seafood, and vegetables first seems like a daunting task to finish .. and it remains daunting because there seems to be an endless amount of stuff in it where it never goes empty. The heat first invites you into a nice little kick but it slowly builds over time to the point where you start crying and sniffling because the heat has just stacked up. But the flavor is there: deep umami, chili flavor that's almost on the borderline of being a little to salty but the seafood, vegetables and meat still retain its flavor to give different tastes with each bite despite it all sitting in the same bowl. And the string beans! While it sits at a double digit price, it's pretty darn good. Crunch? Check. Garlic? Check. Subtle chili nuance? Check. If you need some sort of a vegetable with your dish, this is the one to get. Service was pretty much non-existent until you ask for the check and ask for to go boxes for leftovers. They actually pack everything for you (albeit a little awkwardly) so that made up for everything. Other than that, order on your phone via QR code. Ambiance is pretty good too; interior is very bright and you can still hear people in your table despite being a lot of people inside the restaurant. Overall, this is a place that I'll be coming back to when I'm craving for Sichuan food. Definitely recommend. read more

The fish came out still bubbling, bright red oil, tons of chilies and peppercorns--numbing to the soul but super addictive. The frogs were crazy tender, spicy but not just heat for heat's sake. French Beef Filet 5. Steam pork ribs with squash 6. Stir fry Cauliflower That smoked duck was cooked to perfection from inside out. The meat was juicy and skin was crispy. The steamed pork ribs had the bones fall apart tender. The hand shredded chicken had a very nutty sesame flavor which I love. Went to the restaurant 12/26/25 around 5:15pm - it's right next to San Gabriel Hilton. It is a small cozy little place with outside patio dining. Ordered its signature half smoke duck and confirm it by showing the Yelp picture. When I got home the portion looks really small and so light. Got only the breast, the back bone, the drumnett, and the drum - no thigh no wing. The flavor and taste are good but for $30.00 they should give the whole half not steal this and that. Very disappointed. I was going to try their other dishes next time but don't think will return to this dishonest place ever again. ---------- Another restaurant, we ordered a whole peking duck and only the skin was served - after we left then we remembered they didn't give us the meat. Tonight I made a reservation for six people to sit outside. When we arrived, there were no smaller tables available, so I asked if we could use a larger outdoor table instead. The staff agreed. Later, only five of us showed up. Since the large table felt uncomfortable for a smaller group, my friend politely asked the server if we could switch to a smaller table. The blonde-haired waitress immediately showed a rude attitude and responded in a dismissive tone, basically telling us to just sit there. She then turned her back and walked away without any courtesy. It was shocking and completely unprofessional. From that point on, her attitude remained obvious. When bringing out the food, she acted irritated and unfriendly. Our evening, which was meant to be enjoyable, became uncomfortable because of her behavior. We came to enjoy a meal and support this business, not to be treated with disrespect. Because we no longer felt comfortable being served by her, we asked for takeout boxes and packed our leftovers ourselves. When it was time to pay, she handed the card machine to us carelessly with one hand and no eye contact, showing zero basic customer service. We left a tip under 15% to reflect the poor service. Another employee came out and questioned us about the tip amount. We calmly explained that the service was unprofessional and unacceptable, and that we would not be returning. Instead of apologizing or trying to resolve the issue, she responded by cursing at us in Chinese. I fully understood what was said. This level of behavior is unacceptable in any service industry, especially in the United States where professionalism and basic respect toward customers should be standard. It is unfortunate that one employee's attitude can damage the reputation of an entire business I sincerely hope the owner reconsiders staff training and management standards.
