I started patronizing this location during the Reagan Administration and have left hundreds of bucks there in every decade since. The the building looks exactly the same. However the food is putrid: a simple omelette came out with rancid sausage, and I have no idea how they managed to ruin hash browns. Our server Ferlando was so kind and quick to help us. I really appreciated him. My food was a little bland (bacon, chicken, broccoli pasta) but I really enjoyed Ferlando as my server. I've been to this location many times and the food is always good but sometimes the service is slow...this time it was fast and Ferlando took care of us. One star because I cannot give any fewer. I moved here a few weeks ago and work late hours so I go to Perkins when all else is closed hoping for some late night simple dishes I.e. eggs, bacon, pancakes or a simple sandwich. The waitresses chew gum (health code violation) and spend more time smoking cigarettes out front than checking their tables. The kitchen didn't know that their was eggs in their breakfast burrito. They can't even manage a simple substitution like Swiss instead of American or extra crispy hash browns. Terrible. Please stay away. I will personally make you late night pancakes if that's what it takes to save you from this painful experience. read more

I had such poor service at this location when I visited I felt led to leave a tip in the ammount of one cent. And I did exactly that, on the table in plain sight. I have not been back since. Also this was late in the evening. I would hate to see what it would be like in the day if they can't handle themselfs with a small crowd in the evening. Had the best waitress EVER! Khadesia was her name. She was very attentive and helped my notoriously picky boyfriend pick out what to eat. My best friend who was treating us to lunch is a waitress and on the ride to was just saying how hard waitresses have it. I am very late in posting this but I believe it deserves to be posted. My friend and I had breakfast here in mid May. The place was incredibly busy and full of very loud large parties. Mitzi was our waitress. She took the time to come over and explain the delay in our orders. She brought us a delicious warm blueberry muffin to hold us over. Man I get it that Sunday's at a restaurant are rough. But you got my order wrong twice and your manager didn't even come out and apologize or anything. The food I did get was subpar, not only for a Perkins but for breakfast food in general. I had the country omelette, I'm amazed at how you can have a dish with both undercooked potatoes and over cooked egg. You took 50% off my bill, that's cool. At least I paid what it was worth. Wonderful Sunday breakfast. Peak time 12:30 asked for table not both. Seated at once. Sausage biscuit plate, hot perfect cooked hard eggs, crisp has brown, gravy very good and extra side of bacon. Server Hijah was awsome, did not miss a beat, checked on me regularly. HANDS DOWN BEST ANYWHERE NO SUGAR DRINK selection, never seen such a selection offered anywhere, THANK YOU PERKINS for offering so many sugar free drinks!!! read more

It's a general purpose restaurant, so I will not analyze special dishes or anything like that. I hope you find this one useful. Food: It's a nutritional nightmare. All I have had there sounds good, tastes fab, and features way more calories than it should. I have done a search on the nutritional info on the website, and concluded that it is impossible to eat something healthy and with an acceptable calorie count in Perkins. Closest it gets is the dijon salmon at around 700 calories... Beware. Salads: They are a nutritional nightmare too. Do not let the title fool you. Their honey mustard is sweet but you can also taste the mustard in it, without an aftertaste of honey (hello, honey mustard fans) Portion sizes: They are always huge. Desserts: they are very rich, also nutritional nightmares :), and in general they don't fail when you are having a craving for something sweet. Safe to take a bunch of people who don't know what kind of dessert they want. Service: Open 24/7, and I have never, never had bad service there. And I must have gone there 10 times or more this summer alone. Other tips: You can get UofM discount on entrees if you bring an ID. read more

I had the Tangler Burger with French fries since my server Shawn recommended the entre. When my food came out the burger had a turd on it. Are you serious? It wasn't even a small turd it was like a fucking rhino turd or some shit. On top of that I only received 6 French fries and they were topped with guacamole and mayaonaise(which I hate). On 12-29-17 at 8:50 p.m., My wife and I went to Perkins on Poplar. The manager seated us and at 9:08 p.m., still no service, The restaurant wasn't busy. We went to the register and I asked for the manager. As he approached he asked, Did no one come to your table? That was odd, how did he know what I wanted. I told him we had waited 15 minutes (obviously he already knew that) and we were leaving. He didn't say anything. We used to frequent Perkins quite regularly, so much that we were recognized by the staff. I don't remember when they did their most recent remodel, but we came in for dinner one night shortly after and the prices had increased substantially. The reason we were there to begin with was because they served good grub at affordable prices. But the new prices put them in "Huey's" range, which we had to cut out because it is now also way too pricey for burgers and fries. The two adults and one child in our little family can't afford to spend $40 to $50 at a burger joint or at a Denny's/Shari's style counterpart on the regular. So for the most part, we have cut them out of our rotation. Until this morning. The hubby and I (while son is at Grandma's) decided to visit Perkins for the first time after many months (or a year?) He loves the chicken fried steak and I like their huge menu selection. We thought the chicken fried steak was kind of pricey before, but $11.99? He decided to get something else and we kind of agreed that Perkins has decided it's a higher class restaurant than it actually is. The food has always been consistently good, but nothing special. We came for the reasonable prices, but they aren't so reasonable anymore. I understand inflation, but raising the cost of everything by 15 to 25%? We might be back in another year. Or not. Our wages haven't caught up with the rate of inflation at some of the restaurants around here. read more

I recently went to dinner at Perkins, now we go occasionally later in the night when other places are closing or closed. This is certainly not a place to go for the food but it is something to eat. Each time we go it is NEVER great, somewhat dirty and the service is iffy at best. The last time I went it was so bad that I will not go back again. The server couldn't get anything right even bringing the salad and had to wait on silverware for a good 10 minutes We never saw her so ended up walking out. I will not go back. Went here on a trip to Graceland just before I caught my plane back to California. It was a bit empty so I pretty much had the waiter to myself. He was very nice and even sat with me a bit and kept me company while I ate. I wish I could remember his name! I drove all over Memphis and Tunica and other cities close by trying to find a restaurant--just a plain old restaurant with regular American food. I was given directions by people and never could find anywhere I wanted to eat until my last day of vacation-finally! The food was good and reasonably priced, the service was great too. I never thought that finding somewhere to eat-becides fast food-would be an issue! I probably will never be in that part of the country again but if I am I know where I can eat! ;) read more

As I sit here at a table in Perkins, I begin to contemplate my life and my decisions. I do not regret the decision to come to Perkins at all, based on past experience they usually have fantastic service and I have never not enjoyed my meal. After all, it's not like I'm going to IHOP or something. I do, however, regret coming to this particular Perkins at this particular time, and being sat in this particular section. I have never felt so neglected in my entire life. I don't know what it is. Maybe she is under the assumption that we are young (19 and 20 years old) and youths don't usually tip well, I always tip at least 20% (usually over because I like to round to the dollar). Whatever it is, there is no reason for us to sit here for almost 40 minutes after we have ordered without being checked on. The problem isn't even how long it took for the food to come out, it's the fact that we watched as she checked on table after table while we sat here, she checked on the table behind us at least three times without even looking our way. I had finished my drink within the first 15 minutes and by this point my mouth was as dry as the Sahara Desert in Northern Africa. All in all, I will definitely come back to Perkins because I love the food. I will not, however, willingly sit in Ashley's section again. P. S. We were going to get pie but there is no telling how long that will take. We already have to wait for our ticket and a to-go box. read more

I don't know about other Perkins restaurants, but the one in Collierville is great. We have been coming here for over 25 yrs. and will continue. I love the breakfasts served all day. The food isn't gourmet, but neither are the prices. It is just good food at good prices served by friendly staff. My brother visits from California every 5 years or so, and his first stop is Perkins for breakfast. Their pies, cookies and muffins are delicious. read more

This was a terrible experience for us. We came in on a Friday night during a normal supper time, and the place was not busy, but not terribly empty. We sat down, gingerly handling the worn and sticky menus (ick). Our server did ask for our drink & food order very quickly, but we asked for a couple of minutes. At least ten minutes later, he hadn't returned. Finally the hostess asked us what was wrong, and we told her we'd like to order. He showed up a few minutes later and took our order. The food took a while to get there, and when it did arrive, was nothing special. Do get the pot roast sandwich, it was okay. Do NOT get the tomato soup - it's really sweet and has chunks of onion in it - weird. Our meals came with dessert. Unfortunately, that meant we had to flag down the server to tell him to bring it. And then we waited. With empty drinks. I was just about ready to go find the hostess again when he brought out our pie. Again, it was nothing special, but we ate it. We went to pay, and had to stand around again waiting for our server to come cash us out. Finally we got someone else to cash us out. Very disappointing. read more
