Took my pup for a groom because his regular groomer was closed due to shelter in place. The main thing I asked was that he doesn't get hurt. Because once he has a cut he takes forever to heal any wounds and he suffers greatly. A day after the groom I noticed my pup crying and hiding. I checked his body and then noticed both armpits and his private parts had little cuts. This resulted in the area swollen and bleeding. Now he has to wear a cone for at least 2 weeks until he heals. read more

This review is only for the Petco grooming. (excluding VINCENZO because he is AMAZING) We usually have Vincenzo for our dog appointments and he does a fairly good job. But we decided to switch our dog appointment day since it would work better for our schedule (unfortunately Vincenzo doesn't work on that new day we chose) so we decided to try Danielle A. We brought our dog in and within 5-10 mins, we were called to the counter only to be told by DANIELLE A. that our dog was too anxious and wouldn't let her do anything to him. Unfortunately our VIP service dog bath appointment became a no service at all appointment. We ended up making a same day appointment with Fluff and Puff Dog Wash instead and they took amazing care of our dog. He came out bathed, fresh, and super happy with his bath service with Fluff and Puff. No more Petco grooming services for our dog ever again. We are glad this happened and now we know Fluff and Puff is the way to go. NOT Petco grooming. read more

Worst experience not once but twice got a new puppy thinking Petco is a know pet store for pets. Tanforan mall one first we went to. Our puppy and he came back worse then when he got there. The trainer at petco even said they did this and I should file an complaint which I said it's ok I'm just not going back. Then she recommended the one that she use at Bridgepoint in San Mateo. Our appointment was at 3pm we got there at 3:11pm which I know we have a 15min grace time. She was so rude and said we are late and can't take us because she has to pick up her son at 4pm so why did you schedule me at 3 knowing she had to leave? I booked this appointment over 3 weeks ago so why did she not call to reschedule me and waste my time. I rushed back from my meeting in the eastbay for this appointment. Multiple fish were dead in tanks. Not willing to sell me a solo fish because she said it was a school fish but there was only one left. My tank can handle 3 fish if it's a 5 gallon tank, and they acted as it was not acceptable. It was a catfish. This store doesn't care about there fish. read more

My poor kitties had their Vaccinations here today and they were great. It was really busy with other Cat's and Dog's getting their's as well but the staff were well organised and all so friendly too - Talking to each customer that came in, making a fuss of the pets and making sure things ran smoothly. Had simple inquiries about rescheduling an appointment and she couldn't resist the urge to speak over me the entire time and while I was mid sentence hung up on me. Ok so pet stores never really get good reviews but I have two go to's this is one pet store Rebecca and Maddie makes this store what it is when we first brought Storm home Rebecca helped us pick her crate and gave us advice on puppy training she might have seen the lost look on my face LOL then a few weeks ago I went in again lost because my Storm wouldn't eat and she took the time to stop and listen and recommended Acana Lamb and Pumpkin and my Storm took to it immediately I love her personality she is approachable every time I go in there she is always helping someone going above and beyond. I recently started puppy training for Storm and Maddie is teaching the class and if there is anyone who loves dogs it's her Storm is STUBBORN and she had patience with her I highly recommend this petco for anyone in the neighborhoood read more

Have had Diana and Laura groom my dog well and with kindness. Due to family illness needed to grab appt with first available groomer. Amanda was stressed, rude, said my dog was too senior (yet vet says she's active and in great shape) and threatened that "How would you feel if your dog quit breathing while I was grooming her?". This is my go-to store for food, treats, toys, litter for my kitties. Consistent in selection and service. I like that the points I earn turn into a reward. Also get a discount for picking up. Ordered online for in store pick up late a night. Got an email first thing the next morning that the order was ready. Helped right away by a very friendly associate who so kindly loaded all items into a cart for me (3 40lb litter boxes are no joke). I called today in hopes of looking for "Taste of the Wild, Rocky Mountain" cat food , and Daniel was quickly to reassure me they have both 5 pound and 14 pound in stock at there San Mateo Bridgepointe location. I was thankful and lucky to be assisted by him in holding a bag for me because unfortunately they were sold out in literally every single store ! Unfortunately since I adopted my 9 month old kitty from the peninsula humane society I can only feed him this certain kind of food, I tried to switch his foods and he had the poops like crazy ... ): so I have to stick to this rare kind of food ! I drove all over San Francisco and San Bruno for this type of food , different types of pet stores , and none of them had this kind of food which was so weird ! I love this store! This is where I got my first pet.. so it's sentimental.. got him down here to see if we can get him a mate, but he wanted to be solo so had to let him be.. They have cute chinchillas, guinea pigs, hamsters, a variety of fishes and a few turtles, snakes, snails & other reptiles. It's entertaining even for adults to visit.. If you are lucky, you can find a few cats for adoption! They don't have dogs but you can meet a few doggies on their shopping spree, grooming day or in training... She makes owners and dogs feel at ease and explains things in a way that makes sense and is accessible. I do not like giving negative reviews. I came in to ask for a walk in as the petco website states that it is available and I called but no one ever picks up so I decided to walk over and check. One of the groomers , a female always wearing a hat and boots said they don't do walk ins for mini rover in this location and told me to read the sign by the door. PETCO : Please train your this employee on better customer service. While I don't mind that it is subject to availability, at least don't make it seem like I am an idiot or made it seem like if I asked a follow up question that I am annoying. Took my 12 yr old maltipoo here to get groomed yesterday, requested a short cut all over and tooth brushing, and asked that they be careful with her bc even though she looks and sometimes acts like a puppy, she's on the older side. Came to pick her up with the groomer saying "she has a little cut on her tongue." After leaving and getting her out into the sunlight it became much more obvious that there was an entire chunk of her tongue missing!!! I wonder if they should have kept the piece of tongue that they chopped off and sutured it back on. Poor dog is missing a piece of her tongue! Additionally, the hair cut looked incomplete (probably just stopped and gave up after the tongue incident. Can not believe they thought it was ok to charge for this. Still can not believe no one has reached out to apologize to me. I've been back into this location before and recognize the groomer that caused the trauma to my poor dog. read more

I wasted an hour of my time today due to this store's incompetence. Their website advertised the vaccination clinic hours as 9 - 11 am today, 7/21. I called the store yesterday to confirm that the clinic is still happening and the associate I spoke with confirmed the date and hours. When I arrived today I was advised that they don't open until 10 am. I told this associate to check the website for the hours. He returned to inform me he checked w/ the store rep and the hours were inaccurately posted on the website. He said there was nothing they could do and would not be able to sell anything until the store opens. No apology for my inconvenience, nothing. This store lacks organization, attention to detail, and needs to provide adequate customer service training. read more

Super disappointed in my last two visits to the grooming salon. One month ago, my dog was given a bath by Julian. Within an hour of coming home, I found blood all over the house. His nail was trimmed to the skin, causing it to bleed for nearly 2 days and a lot of pain for our puppy. I requested a new groomer for our next visit (I get it, stuff like this happens from time to time) and figured I'd give them a second chance. We dropped our Goldendoodle with Monique at 3:00pm on a Friday. We get a call at 5:45pm that she can't dry our dog in the 3-4 hour window because he is being aggressive and is scared of the blow dryer. We have gone to over 5 salons in the area and get him professionally groomed every 3 weeks and have NEVER had any issues. I had to run and pick-up a wet dog, was charged for the full service, and left without most the services we paid for. Come to find out that she would complain about my good friends dog as well, after she had received zero complaints elsewhere. I can't help but think it might be to make pet owners feel sorry for her and tip or that she just isn't equipped for the job. Regardless, we won't be back. read more

This is *the* place to come for shots for the pets. They only have them every so often, but when they do it's the way to go. Normally, a vet will make you pay $100+ for an office visit on top of the cost of the shots, but not here. You walk in, fill out a form about your pet, they give them the shots and you leave. It's like $35 instead of $200. Gotta love that. The people are nice and helpful. The store itself is a little weak when it comes to pet products, though. Totally limited on collars and they don't carry my dog's favorite food, but that's why there's other pet stores out there. We'll be back for the shots and probably go to Pet Smart for the rest of the goodies. read more

5-21-23 I've been taking my dog here for his dog grooming for years and it was always simple and easy. Dani was our go to dog groomer and she always did her job very well! Recently I had to book my dog grooming appointment a month ahead time with a new dog groomer, Vincenzo. I didn't mind waiting that long for an appointment because I've been going there for my dog grooming no problems. But when it came time for the appointment, I arrived 10 minutes prior and he was already on lunch and I had to wait. Then when it was time to check in, I told him what I wanted for my dog's haircut and showed the board of how short I want my dog's hair. My father chose the 2nd shortest which has ALWAYS been my dog's haircut length. And he said he was uncomfortable doing that. What's the sense of having the board and making you choose you want for your dog and not have that done. Another dog groomer stepped in, but I felt they were both being passive aggressive and a bit condescending. It felt like they didn't want to do their job. It was a waste of both of our times. I will not be returning here for my dog grooming, I'd advise others to take their dogs elsewhere to get better service. Read all the other one star comments here. Customer Service at this petco is rude. Petco you should train your workers to be more welcoming and kind. read more

3.5 stars. This Petco is like many other franchise pet stores, though maybe a lil smaller. It has prices that are a lil high and at check-out, they talk you into donating a lil dinero to the local pet charities. I still go. I still donate. My doggie likes it. We go for lil field trips to sniff the other doggies and look at the fish. Bella does most of the sniffing of course. It's a nice time. See ya there! read more

My dog needed a groom desperately and his regular groomer was 5 weeks out so we decided to bring him here which had the soonest appointment available. We were booked with Diana, we dropped him off and she explained he was a little matted in some parts and his hair would have to be cut short, which we were okay with. Around 30 min after she called me to tell me Teddy was "very matted" on the neck and having a hard time so we needed to pick him up. Teddy has been to the groomer plenty of times and he has never had a problem before. What a waste of our time. read more

Awful customer service and will not be going back. Our 1st appointment "mysteriously" disappeared from their computer, even though we had the email confirmation, so they turned us away. Then we went a second time and they turned us away because our dog had a lavender calming treat earlier that day. NO WHERE ON THEIR WEBSITE DOES IT SAY THAT DOGS CANNOT HAVE CALMING TREATS BEFORE COMING IN, AND they even recommended we give our dog one on the previous trip in because she has high anxiety. Then we called Petco and the manager stated they only were not allowed to take dogs if they were sedated and that it did not state that anywhere on the Petco website ... lavender calming treats do not count as sedation! Truth be told, there was a long line of people with their dogs waiting to be checked in (AGAINST THEIR OWN 1 AT A TIME COVID POLICIES AND 15 MINUTES BETWEEN PETS FOR SANITIZATION THAT ARE STATED ON THEIR WEBSITE), so we think they were just trying to weed people out because they overbooked appointments. Needless to say, we will not be returning to Petco and encourage others to find other grooming places if you want good customer service. read more

I had the wrong date so I was there at the wrong day and she was very short with me. Wouldn't check when my appointment was in her system. Talked to me like I was retarded. She made me feel so bad that I just made a grooming appointment elsewhere. I don't know if her life sucks or something but it would be awesome to not take that out on customers.
