Why do they put less toppings?

I've been going to Petrillo's for over 30 years and I too have noticed that. The price point is high so you expect the food to be the same. It is disappointing that they have done that.

I heard via the "Nextdoor" social media site that they closed on 12/31/19. I just called them and they said that only Mama Petrillos on Las Tunas is now closed. Petrillos on Valley is still open!

Do they serve pizza by the slice, if so, how much?

No, they don't... and given the quality of their pizzas, I highly doubt that anyone could stop after just one slice!

Is this Petrillo's location affiliated with the one in Glendora?

Yes the Glendora location are the same owners.

For the mains, the Carbonara was rich, creamy, and exactly what you'd expect from a comforting pasta dish. The standout of the night was the Amatriciana pizza easily my favorite. Crispy crust, great flavor, and one of those pizzas you keep reaching back for. I ordered a full order as they also had light orders which is half the portion at a reduced price. But I was hungry, and it also came with garlic bread or bread and butter. It did take a while for food to arrive, I think we aren't used to a long wait since usually bread would arrive first. My aunt and uncle got soup (minestrone) served first so maybe if we ordered salads we would've gotten them before the entrees too. The Alex special pizza came first as our entree and boy the crust was crispy! Lots of toppings and the cheese pull was amazing. Parts were a bit hard to chew but only after it's been sitting for a while because when it was fresh it was crispy, then soft and chewy. My sautéed chicken dish came after and it was hot! All the plates are hot so be careful! So hot my uncle burned his mouth on the stretchy cheese from the lasagna and spaghetti with meatballs. The chicken and mushrooms were so delicious, I ate all the mushrooms first and even used the pizza crust to soak the extra butter from the penne. The garlic bread and bread came really last, at least it was fresh so it was a good wait. Yes there's a lot of butter oil, but I expected it when the dish on the menu said to choose a sauce which was butter or olive oil. We didn't get dessert because we were so full! We had plenty of leftovers for another meal. They gave us boxes and a pizza box to take our food home. I really want to try again with my parents and others, the dessert menu sounds like a great selection of Italian sweets but what I really want again is the bread and butter. It was so good, the butter was salty which really makes it a star.

I'm not a fan of a pizza where the toppings don't stay put, and between the excessive grease and the texture of the cheese, it wasn't for me.

Our waiter gave us the pistachio tiramisu on the house for my mom's birthday, which was such a sweet gesture, and it was delicious! Yep that's right. I know no not to anymore. Well I know that SUPER BOWL you need to order in advance. In fact they advise it. So why is it that I ordered my pizza on Friday evening for 2:20pm on Superbowl and when they finally get to my name they say "Your pizza isn't made, it's not even in the oven" WTF! are your kidding me. People who had placed their orders 45 minutes prior were getting their pizza's while myself and 4 others who had placed our orders on Friday 2 DAYS BEFORE! weren't even ready. I understand you might be a few minutes late. I had already waited 20 extra minutes before your even checked on my name, which I had to give to the gal not once but twice and my pizza wasn't even in the oven. I gladly replied ok thank as I'm getting ready to walk out the door. The lil' dumb blonde replies "So you don't want to pay for your pizza" I laugh as I turn around and say "Really, do I have stupid written on me somewhere" and turn and leave as several patrons clap. THANK GOODNESS for PLAN B - went down the street for our actual Italian food at Da'Pillas that we had ordered cause as you read below Petrillos food is not all that. So we ended up getting our food at Da'Pillas and ordering a pizza from there which btw was awesome. Use to order THICK crust all the time when younger but love the original. Yeah the wait may be long at times but if you order ahead of time it's worth the wait. Dining In has never been one of Petrillos specialties and from experience I can honestly say that I've maybe dined in 3 times in my whole 42 years that I've been coming here. And their food isn't all that. If your looking for GREAT pizza as well as Great FOOD try Da'Pilla's down the street on Valley and Rosemead Blvd across from Fresh and Easy. THOROUGHLY INSPECT YOUR FOOD AT THIS PLACE BEFORE YOU EAT IT!!!! I picked up a Pizza from here last nite brought it home to some friends and upon eating it my friend FOUND A 3/4 INCH BOLT IN A SLICE OF THEIR PIZZA. That's right, my friend bit into a slice of pizza and PULLED A 3/4 INCH BLACK METAL BOLT OUT OF HER MOUTH. It looked like it fell out of the wall in their kitchen. She is lucky she didn't SWALLOW IT or BREAK her TEETH! ARCHIE the manager didn't have any apologies but did have an ATTITUDE when I brought the pizza back and explained the situation. He did offer to make me another one which DID NOT SOUND THE LEAST BIT APPEALING TO ME, especially after seeing what they put their pizzas. He seemed nervous, probably because there were customers standing nearby and didn't want to gross them out. He could have at least offered a sympathetic apology instead of blaming it on the can of olives that he thinks the BOLT must have fell out of. THE BOLT looked to me like it fell off the wall perhaps holding up a shelf, it was huge and was covered in cheese. I wonder how this tough guy manager would have acted if the shoe was on the other foot and somebody cooked a BOLT in his pizza. NO APOLOGY from this guy, not even close, not really much eye contact with me either when he handed me my money back with a superior attitude. ACRCHIE NEEDS TO LEARN SOME GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS. I USED TO FREQUENT THIS PLACE AS DID MANY OF MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY, THOSE DAYS ARE OVER! Oh my, where do I begin? Their pizza is hands down the Best pizza anywhere! This is so good it will turn a vegan into a meat eater. The dough is crafted to perfection, it's chewy, lightly crusty, and seems to 'melt' in your mouth. This is making me hungry just writing about it. Pepperoni is perfect; it has this rich rich flavor, that is mouth watering. The cheese is extremely abundant with authentic mozzarella cheese pouring over a huge, and I mean huge pizza pie. Sausage is OMG off the chain: explosion of flavor in your mouth. Sauce is great, well-crafted and seasoned spot on! Mushrooms are bursting with texture, flavorful and all the ingredients compliment perfectly. You get a ton of meat, the large weighs at least 8.3 pounds maybe more. You cannot miss with Petrillos, it is Alhambra's gem mine of a place. I'm glad Petrillo's hasn't changed a thing with their pizza because it is truly a masterpiece and no where else can top them. They are truly pizza artists. Think Michelangelo with pizza dough in his hands as his canvass. Pizza fan for 30 years, had pizza from all over California; Petrillo's is The Best! Been coming here for 20 some odd years. I would love to invest in Petrillo's or open my own branch of it someday. Dreams can come true! OK this is my first Yelp review...so here goes. I have been to alot of pizza places and have been to Italy as well, and i have to say this is closest to real Italian pizza i have had. The level of ingredients is top of the line the cheeses are superb (not oily). As everyone knows the crust of a good pizza is very important and this one ROCKS. Depending what type u like thin, hand tossed your gonna love this, crunchy on the bottom not soggy and the cheese burnt just right on the crust, mmmmmm mmmmmm gooooood. Topping are very generous but not overloaded and premium not salty and oily like most places. I had the Bianca which doesnt have tomato based sauce and the Antipasto salad. Salad has tons of olives chickpeas tomatoes and peppercinni (not sure of correct spelling, food overload full stomach stop brain from working lol) Both were huge and priced at smaller sizes compared to what im used to so i was very pleased ;) The bread is so soft and chewy you have to get 2 baskets lol Havent tried the pastas yet will do VERY soon but they look great and are large portions. So my suggestion is bring a party cause your gonna need some hungry mouths to eat it all. Overall this place relies on its quality of ingredients which means we all get rewarded with great pizza. I honestly wouldn't give this place any stars but according to yelp I have to. This place has the most disrespectful staff. If you are party bigger than 5 they do not care for your service or money. They tell you that you can't make any reservations but make exceptions for people they like. They also don't tell you they are splitting your party up until the last minute. My party had a party of 15 people ,we arrived at 5:30. The servers and staff knew that they were going to split us up. They wouldn't seat us unless our whole party was present. Only 3 people were missing. They say they have a first come first serve basis. They say another party of 15 when half of their party was missing. This place serves amazing food. I expect the lines to be long and it really just has a very unique taste. The problem I have with this place is the rude staff that you have to deal with when you pick up. We were repeat customers and literally down the street from them and after I dealt with the 3 rude girls working the front on 06/15/2013 between 7pm-9pm I will never go back. They were so rude and seem to not have any common sense regarding customer service. Little things like this make and break a small business and because of what seemed to be an inexperienced non trained staff we will be taking our business else where from now on. When I was younger, I remember that this was the go to place to get pizza for class pizza parties!! Needless to say, I hadn't had it in years. So I was pretty excited when a friend decided to have his birthday dinner here.... Unfortunately I was very disappointed. This place isn't what it used to be. My boyfriend and I shared a small pizza with pepperoni, sausage, and salami. We literally had a slice and just stopped eating... We were saying how we would have rather gotten Pizza Hut. We have been a long time customer of Potrillos having grown up in the SanGabriel Valley and lived here for 55 years. We know the address, we know the phone number. But for some reason today they lost our order, and they accused us of calling the restaurant down the street. This place is awesome!!! I love this place. It has the best pizza in town. I've been going to Petrillos for over 7 years. If you are in the mood of Italian food this is the place for you. The staff is great, service is great. I've been to NY & Chicago and even there pizza did not compare to Petrillos. Great place for families and couples. Pastas are awesome too not to mention the lasagna...mmmm it is delicious. My husband is totally not a pasta person but at Petrillos he loves the lasagna. Best pizza in town by far! The prices may seem high for the size but I assure you the portions are well worth it! Unlike most shops which seemed to have downsize the idea of a large and medium, this place has an actual Medium and Large pizza..I debated with my wife if we should get the large but I was wrong.. the medium was more than enough and we even had left overs.. Our families have been going to Petrillos in San Gabriel since the 1950s. We often celebrated father's day and my parents birthdays there. Then, as our families grew, we brought them there too. Horrible customer service. The waitress took 15 Mins to bring ranch to our table this afternoon. Also we never got our drinks refilled.
