Just witnessed a really rude interaction between the manager (had a pink cup with her name Keke) and a gentleman who was simply asking if the manager could change the channel on the TV to a baseball game. The gentleman first asked the staff in the counter if they could change the channel. They couldn't so the gentleman asked if there was a manager to assist. Staff said she was on break. The gentleman sat down and saw a woman (the manager) and asked if she was the manager. Reluctantly, she answered "Yes". The gentleman asked the same question--if they could change it to the game. Before he could even finish his sentence, she responded "Sir, im currently on break right now" in a clearly annoyed, loud, and arrogant tone. No one should be spoken to in way, especially by a manager. The gentleman said nothing, and I could feel he was embarrassed. Sure, the manager was on her break, but you do not speak to people that way. I saw everything play out in front of me, right before I ordered. I wish I didn't. This whole experience gave me a bad vibe, and it's my first time here. Avoiding this place like the plague. The food was fine. But the manager's behavior is unacceptable. It's been about 20 minutes after her break ended, and she never bothered to check in with the gentleman again. Shameful. read more

I wrote a review in 2016 for their really good breakfast burritos. I've been eating them semi-regularly since then, along with an occassional burger. The burgers are really good too. Like Lucky Boy's but a little better. Unfortunately, I won't be returning here during the pandemic. When I was there a couple weeks ago, the owner and his crew were not wearing masks. Masks work, not perfectly but they help prevent the spread of Covid. That's a fact, and if you don't believe it you're in the grip of false information. And if you're not wearing masks because you want to be "free" and won't let the gov't tell you what to do, tell me: What's your view about handwashing or using hot water to wash dishes, or refrigerated storage of food or urinating in the bathroom rather than on the kitchen floor? Do you also think being "forced by the gov't" to do these things is wrong? I think anyone who refuses to comply with mask mandates from a childish understanding of "freedom", cannot be trusted to do any of the things I listed above--and more. I won't support a restaurant (or any business) that refuses to use masks. It's a big FU to their customers and the rest of our community. read more

I have been going here for over 20 years. This was our go to place after my daughter's softball games and softball practices. They have enough seating outdoors for the team, and indoors for the parents. I liked their pancakes or French toast breakfast specials, but now that we no longer live nearby we only come here for lunch or dinner. My husband usually enjoys one of their salads. He usually orders their chef or chicken breast salad. At times he'll order their cheeseburger special which includes fries and soda. I have enjoyed their pastrami burger, cheeseburger, patty melt and BLT with avocado. I always ask for extra crispy bacon, and this place knows the definition of crispy. My favorite side order is their fried zucchini. I like the ranch dressing that comes with the fried zucchini. Although this place is named Pharos Burgers, you'll see people ordering their teriyaki dishes, gyros and Mexican dishes. They even have horchata. Kudos to the owners! read more

Came here to try out this place after seeing mostly good reviews and was very disappointed. My burger was average and overpriced. Fries were nothing special. You can get this kind of food anywhere that sells charbroiled burgers. I noticed a review after coming here that said that sneakily charge you a service fee without letting you know and when I checked my receipt, that's exactly what happened to me too. Oh and a side note to anyone eating here: the cashier didn't change gloves or wash hands between charging people and serving food. Do with that what you will. read more

On 10/26/22 at approx 7:45pm, My wife and I decided to support small businesses and patronize this establishment instead of in n out. BIG MISTAKE. I ordered the mushroom burger which was just shy of $7.00. I had a long stressful week and decided what the hell, why not make it a combo? This brought my total to about $13.05 pre sales tax. I understand the inflation is rising but $13.00? For a mediocre burger? Infront of the register lies a small, stained, and faded sign which reads " We offer discounts to costumers who pay cash" and another sign beside it that states they charge a 3.9% fee for paying with card in again, another faded sign. I inquired about the first sign and the lady stated they don't give discounts for people paying cash. So why have the sign there? After paying I asked why my total was 60 cents more and then she proceeded to verbally tell me they charge for card. Why wouldn't you ask every customer if they are okay with the surcharge for paying with card? This scratched the part of my brain because something seemed fishy. Let me tell you, Google is your best friend to information. I researched the credit card company in which allows their customers to pay with card with a surprising 3.5% flat fee with all major banks except American Express which is 6.2%. Not only is the food subpar, but this is extremely shady and deceiving on their customer base. I will.be contacting the BBB and filing a formal complaint. read more

I took my wife to Pharo's in Alhambra, so she can try it out. Their delicious classic Pharos burger, this is her first time at the restaurant ,this is my second time here. Their Gyro combo is really good I really enjoy it the first time I ate at Pharo's. My wife decided to get the classic Pharo's burger combo and myself, I order the Teriyaki chicken plate. Our number was call I went to pick up our meal. I was surprise how the food looks really good. My wife Pharo's burger looks good and the fries were nice and hot,I took some fries they were good season perfect with the add of ketchup and mustard they were so good. My Teriyaki chicken was good it have a good flavor but it was slightly salty, I couldn't taste the sweetness of the Teriyaki it have little bit of sweetness it wasn't disappointed of the meal. The salad that come with the Teriyaki chicken with thousand island dressing on top of the salad. Overall my wife and I enjoy the food at Pharo's we would come back again and try different items. Always driving by and neglecting this place as if I had something against eating at place near me. =( I did some Yelp searching and discovered that they had these awesome chili cheese fries, oh my! Nice big helping of crispy, crunchy fries, smothered with chili and topped with a generous amount of cheese. If I had to really compare from other places, this would be my go to place for chili cheese fries. Bacon cheeseburger was HUGE, enough to share with a foodie friend, meat was juicy and flavorful, many pieces of thick bacon with a nice crunch, lettuce, onions and tomato and you are good to go! Still a regular here and I still love it. The staff is awesome and the food always satisfies my guilty pleasure kicks. The one thing I have had issues with several times is the portion size of the large zucchini fries. It's usually the new employees who fry up a small portion thinking it's enough for a large. I tried this place out on a Thursday night. It wasn't too busy, but the cook took his time making my order. I didn't mind, I'd rather he made it correctly then have a half-ass rushed job. You can see them make it so you know it's clean. The restaurant does look "old school" but not dirty. It reminded me of Dino's in Lincoln Heights (Main St.) and Dino's Junior (used to be Pete's Patio, on Broadway) My husband and I ordered a gyro and it was SO GOOD! We also ordered chili cheese fries as a side and it is huge like everyone else has said. It can literally be an entree on it's own. No real complaints of the restaurant. The guy even gave us a free soda :D I was a bit disappointed at their prices. I was used to the DJ pricing in Lincoln Heights but then again dinner for 2 was less than $16 so woo hoo! (yes I am very cheap :D) Another minor thing that annoyed me was that the styrofoam soda cup was a bit sticky, the guy probably spilled soda as he was filling it up but that's minor. I've been driving by Pharo's for years but had never stopped in for lunch until today. I don't know what took me so long. The staff is friendly and helped me customize a burger to my child's liking. I tried one of my kid's fries; it was well cooked and not salty. The fish burrito I ordered was awesome; I'm eager to come back for a breakfast burrito.
