Unfortunately, my first experience wasn't what I expected... I'm not one to write reviews, but here we go. When I walked into the salon, I was greeted and offered a glass of water. Lux (my hair stylist) came out to meet me and had me sit in her chair to talk about what I was looking for. After saying I wanted my hair dyed red, we went back and forth with a few colors until I picked the perfect one. It took a little time to mix the color and have it applied to my head, but she had a couple other clients during the time (completely understandable). While having a great conversation, I brought up the idea to trim about an inch and a half off my hair to clean up the dead ends. I didn't ask how much it would be for a trim, but I assumed it would be roughly $20-$40. Not the case! Towards the end of my appt., while her assistant finished blow drying my hair, Lux rushed over to have me quickly sign their "contract" of the services I received. Now checking out, my total was $249. I thought it was pretty expensive, but I thought that was due to me having long hairs and having to use more dye. Once I got home and looked over my emailed receipt, I saw that I was charged $88 for the hair trim. This to me was completely unacceptable especially when I wasn't told the price. Trust me, I would've said NO had I known beforehand. Lux did reach out to ask how I liked my hair, and I told her I was shocked about the breakdown of my total. She apologized saying this was her mistake for not clarifying and that she would send this concern to the ladies in customer care. I also called over to the salon to talk with someone about this matter. The person asked, "what do I expect from this?" and "does your salon differentiate between a haircut and hair trim?" to which I replied, "I'm not looking to get all of my money back, but it would be nice if you refunded partial for the hair cut considering I didn't know the price until I was already home. And yes, my salon does have different pricing based on the type of haircut." She said she would relay this information, and I still haven't received a phone call of a formal apology or way to resolve this issue. I got my hair done Oct. 11th and it is now Oct. 23rd... I absolutely love my hair color, but the pricing at Phia Salon is unbelievable and unclear. I had a great appt until the end and even aft. Too bad! UPDATE! I'm updating my review due to the fact the owner personally reached out to me in order to resolve their mistake. It pleases me to know she GENUINELY wanted me to be overjoyed with my Phia salon experience. We overall came to a wonderful solution to the issues at hand. LOL However, let me encourage you highlighted blondes to read further...I went back to discuss my hair and when I left, and weeks since, I am SO happy things went they way they did. Let me explain: I was over processed, I really was. The blonde was too light, not complimentary any more. Casey applied a toner (I think ask him lol) and did something called "reverse root" and added just the right amount of individual pieces of slightly lighter hair near my eyes and face. Let me tell you - I got SO MANY compliments on how natural, how pretty, how healthy my hair was now looking. I got adjusted in a day or two and I still am having a lot of fun with how varying the color is depending on where I part it, how I pin it up, how I curl it. I just love it. Again, thank you Casey. Annah is the only hair dresser allowed to cut my hair. I have fat, curly hair that, when left to its own devices, makes me look like a Spaniel. She makes me look like a proper human. I enjoy my visits and love the Aveda products. I feel pampered and actually like the attention, when normally I do not! The whole thing is more of an experience than simply a hair cut. First let me say I do not have any specific issue with an individual stylist at Phia. They all work very hard, are great people who sometimes make mistakes. I do though take issue with the owner and the policies she has translated to her managers. Last fall I came into Phia for a cut and consequently got color done too with Stylist #1. Promises were made, mistakes were obviously made, but I was quick to forgive at least the mistake made on my hair. I returned 5 days later to get the mistake fixed by a different stylist (stylist #2) ....someone that I was told was a 'color expert' by Phia Managers. Some of the color was taken down from the near black, to orange, then back to what I was originally promised in the dark auburn color range. A 'bleach' product was used on the roots to about 8 inches down and after the first shampooing (not the fault of the shampoo (not Aveda) which has trace amounts of olive oil in it, although Ms. Bella attempted to blame this quality shampoo on this drastic difference) my hair was obviously 2 tones; one tone where the bleaching product was used on it and a darker shade on the remainder of my rather long hair. Small credits on my account were offered and accepted. That meant I had to return to Phia......but I still had hope. I returned a little more than a month later to meet with stylist #2 again (someone I liked despite the further mistakes made on my hair). I arrived at 10:30 a.m. to find out she wasn't there. They substituted a different stylist (stylist #3 now to keep track), one that Ms. Bella had been trying to sell me on in our near hour conversation several weeks earlier when we discussed the wretched state of my hair and services received thus far. I was told numerous things why stylist #2 was not there. A) Left quickly on an emergency, B) Couldn't do hair if she was there for some issue with State Board, c) what does it matter, we set you with someone else. Why wasn't I given a choice I asked several times before a Manager, let's call him John, finally agreed I should have been called and given a choice. Did I want to leave? Given I live 30 minutes away, and my hair after almost 5 weeks was now 3 colors I said 'No, of course not, I have an event (my birthday) coming up". I stayed out of necessity and Stylist #3 did a great job, but I won't continue at Phia ~ I would follow her if she moved to a different shop but will not support this shop anymore. Oh, by the way, Stylist #2 no longer works at the shop and I believe based on conversations had subsequently she did not work there several weeks before my second appointment with her.....the one no one bothered to call me about so I might decide for myself if I chose to drive that distance with yet another new stylist. I blame these unprofessional management decisions on Ms. Bella and how she's coached her Managers. It's just bad business I conclude, as someone who's in a job where customer service, and listening to what the customer says is key. As for the promises made to me that I mentioned in paragraph 2, those have not been forgiven (as I felt I was flat out lied to). read more

Got a haircut from Rania today, it was excellent, probably the best haircut I've ever had. I do lots of tv interviews so its important for my hair to look great and be easy to style. First, i moved here almost 3 years ago and have gone in and out of so many salons. i got sick of the mediocrity and continued to drive to cleveland to get my haircut....and really not as often as i should. long story short, i got a business card from someone and decided to give PHIA a shot. i, of course, arrived far too early but was offered tea, coffee, water while i waited. the staff was extremely nice and talkative. (which is so refreshing). i was randomly given a stylist, ANNAH. remember that name, friends. she is truly amazing. i sat down in her chair and felt comforted when she asked me about 2,000 questions about my hair. she had a pen and paper and took notes as i rambled about my stupid hair. after a maybe 10 minute conversation about what i wanted, she was ready to begin. (keep in mind i have short hair, and i'm a girl, so the cut is very important to me). needless to say, the cut was EXACTLY what i wanted....even better than expected. i have found my salon. i have finally found it, and i recommend you give them a shot. my only experience was with ANNAH and the front desk girls....but it was pleasant and i left feeling good about myself. as far as price goes...it was similar to any other salon in the area. i went to a best cuts type place and paid 5-10 dollars less. this is worth the extra few bucks....if you care about your hair. read more

I am new to Columbus , Ohio. I have been to this salon recently one time to get my eye brows waxed and I liked the experience. Therefore, I went ahead and scheduled for a hair cut thinking the experience will be repeated. However, the experience was terrible and I did not like my hair cut at all. When I made an appointment little did I know that my hair will be experimented by a beginner. Usually a senior stylist drops by in such instances at their salon to learn what the client wants. I specifically did mention that I do not want my hair to be cut unevenly and wanted to level my hair at the back. In addition to that I wanted a nice frame of bangs on my face to enhance my existing hair style. Unfortunately, the new girl and her senior didn't pay any attention to what I said and got it all wrong. It is really upsetting that these people got it so wrong. Despite the end result , the senior stylist tried to blame it on me saying we have a communication problem. I was completely put off by their behavior and wanted to leave the place ASAP. May be this place looks sassy and it's located on the short north but they really need to do something about their service. Terrible experience and not even worth adding a single star. read more

I see Chelsea and she is wonderful. Really listens to what you want but is also creative in suggesting things that will look good on you. She does cuts that last a long time and is always bettering herself through classes and education. I have long hair that gets heavy and don't like to get my hair done very often. Full transparency. This is the second time I've reviewed Phia, but my first review was over a year ago and I think consistent awesome service deserves another Yelp. There are three things I love the most about this salon. 1. SUPER easy going staff. If you stylist gets promoted and are no longer in your budget, it's not a problem. They're so open to suggesting someone else and it's not awkward at all. Not the case at most salons. 2. The new location is gorgeous. If you're getting a shampoo, go for the mini facial. Those chairs are so comfortable you won't want to get up. 3. The stylists know their stuff! I've been growing out a pixie cut for a out a year now and there were moments that my hair looked a little awkward. Figuring out how to style a new 'do can be tricky. If you need honest advice, go to Ross. He's got great tips and has definitely helped make the painful growing out process much easier! read more

Horrible experience. Its a horrible experience for me, with Phia salon. It started like this, I wanted to cut ma hair and color it aswell. I was so excited about it as its been more than 6months since i had cut ma hair and coloured it. I read some positive comments about this place on google so decided to choose this place and called them, spoke to Turney on 22nd of march saturday to book an appointment. I was told its fully booked for that day and was given an appointment for the next day at 6.45pm on sunday march 23rd, with Joshua. I also received a txt on 23rd march the sunday confirming the appointment details as the same which was mentioned to me by Turney. I suddenly got stuck up with something which made me realise it wud get 15min late for the appointment, hence called Phia salon, spoke to a man there, when i told him that i am gonna get late by 15min i was told that ma appointment date was march30th and not march 23rd. I really got pissed. I don't understand what makes them to send me a msg ON 23RD at 4.26PM confirming my appointment date and time on 23rd at 6.45PM when they have it for 30thmarch for 6.45PM. So when i told him this and also about ma conversation with turney he made me wait on the phone for a couple of mins and said it was me who called the same day at 1:09PM and postponed the appointment on march 30th which is truly insane. They have messed up the appointment dates. I don't knw wat makes them to create such a story. I then wanted to speak to their manager and spoke to Danielle, she also confirms that it was she who spoke to me and postponed the appointment on march30th with sam and not with joshua. IT WAS NOT ME WHO CALLED THEM. I was then told that she will give me some other day to get an appointment with them if am fine and questioned me regarding ma hair texture and if i had done colouring before. When i said yes, she says she has to get another senior stylist for me as it is tricky to remove ma old color and put on new color which might aswell damage ma hair.. can a reputed salon promise their customers that they will color the hair by removing the old colour inspite of knowing it will damage the hair??? y do they have to even try doing such things??? she also wanted me to come in person to have a check with what kinda hair and color i have and suitable color and cut will be done accordlingly. Now this would cost 10$ just for a preconsultation, doing nothing. SO THEN I DECIDED NOT TO GO TO SUCH A PLACE WHERE IT CAUSED ME SO MUCH HASSLE IN JUST FIXING THE APPOINTMENT . NEVER TO PHIA SALON AGAIN...... This is ma personal experience.. Henceforth they shud know who calls and make a clear record of it so that they dont get messed up with someone else who had truly taken initiatives to fix the appointment... Annie was great. I appreciated the communication channels the salon utilizes and her initiating contact prior to my appointment to ensure she was up to speed with my desired results. I just wanted a simple trim but appreciated her attention to detail and knowledge about the Aveda product line. I will be returning for color services later next month. Well, let's just say I'm extremely disappointed. My hair is falling out in clumps (I've NEVER had this happen from a salon before) and permanent dye is on everything. Every time I take a shower, I have to BLEACH my shower in order to get the dye off of it. My clothing is full of dye as well that will never come off even when I use stain remover. I thought that the dye from a professional salon was supposed to stay on your head, but I guess I was proved wrong. HOWEVER, the cut looked great on me, so I will say that one good thing and that's why I gave a second star. Don't get me wrong, it looked great for about a week and now my hair is ruined. My stylist was Morgan. I was most definitely over charged for this disaster. It makes me sad that I had to write such a bad review on this place because it seemed so nice while I was there. i just had my first hair cut at phia, and i really loved my experience. i also just moved to columbus from out of state, and i was really nervous about finding someone to take care of my hair. i recently suffered some hair loss due to stress, and i was really looking for someone who would work with me to bring my hair back to life. i met annah, one of the specialists, when she gave me a pedicure a few weeks ago. (her pedicure was also awesome). she is such a good listener and she was very good at helping me develop a plan for caring for my hair, and she kept me informed every step of the way with tips and tricks for styling my hair. overall, it was a great cut, a great experience, and a great price! read more

I love the way I feel when walking into Phia. It's a spa-like treatment that is so elegant. The staff always greets me with a huge smile and warm cup of delicious tea. My stylist Michelle is the very best and people are constantly asking where I get my hair done because it looks so healthy & natural. I booked my appointment through yelp and my appointment never made it to them. After traveling from Dayton, setting up a babysitter, and cutting our trip to the zoo short to make it to this appointment, I wasn't able to get my hair done because either yelp didn't send them the appointment or Phia didn't see it. I'm not sure who's fault it was... The manager did offer to give me a free haircut if I can go back to Columbus, but we are in the military and are moving in a few weeks. Living in Dayton, having two kids, working full time, and with my husband already moved, I can't get everything lined up again to make a special trip out there to get my hair done in the next few weeks. Loved this salon! I have been on a hairstylist search for months trying to find one that fits me and finally I did with Kelly!!! She was so open and very interested in exactly what I was looking for. She also had great ideas and input for what she thought would look good... she sat down and made a "plan" of what we were going to do with the prices which was great so I knew what it would cost! She was great to talk to and the cut and color she did are amazing!! I LOVE IT!!! She was so detailed and did such a great job! She educated me on product and ways to style my new hair:) After everything, she gave me a great blow out and I was ready to go out on the town! Helene is the only person I will let touch my eyebrows from now on. An eyebrow shaping/wax is $17 which is not bad at all for the service you get. She is super nice and knowledgable. Growing up, I had a habit of over-tweezing my brows and I recently wanted to grow them out to shape them more naturally. Helene does a good job with helping me get there and giving advice on maintenance. She is the esthetician at Phia, so she also does all other waxes, facials, and body treatments in her private backroom. She's got a very calm vibe to her, which is extra wonderful given the type of services she does. read more

This was my first time at this salon. The location, in the Short North, is fabulous. There is an easy-in easy-out parking garage 1 block away. I loved the look when I first walked in. Bibb, my stylist, was on time and ready to go when my appointment time came (I arrived early as I don't know much about the area). I had the same stylist for 12 years, so this was a new experience for me. Bibb was wonderful! The salon was fun, the people friendly....I will be back and using Bibb again. read more

I have always enjoyed my experiences at Phia, but this week I feel like it was even better. Rania takes such great care of all of my needs and wants. I always leave feeling like a brand new lady. I was laid off on Monday, and I was worried that I wouldn't be able to afford going in to get my hair done. Thanks to some friends & Rania, it was taken care of. My hair is perfectly colored & cut. The style is easy for me to maintain, yet fresh & stylish. I truly appreciate the indivudualized attention & care I get when I go there. I suggest this to everyone. I have been seeing her for almost 3 years now, and I'll be honest...our relationship is to the point where I could sit in her chair and not say a word and the outcome would be amazing!!! went there for the first time to have a facial done and omg that was not a facial that was nirvana!!! It was so relaxing and Helene so incredible. She explained every step and why she was doing it as well as what she was using so I knew exactly what was going on and then she just let me lay back and relax while she went to work. The room was intimate and comfortable too which really added to it. While the treatments were amazing and my skin looked gorgeous when she was done the facial massage was absolutely incredible!!! The only reason I am not giving Phia 5 stars is because I had to wait 30 minutes past my schedule appt time, and my meter ran out half way through my session. ROSS was amazing! He explained in detail everything he was doing to my hair, and answered all of my questions that I had. Before he even started he asked me what I was trying to accomplish with my hair (I had a beiber cut for a while and started growing it out about a year ago) and what color I wanted it to END UP. NOT what I wanted the moment I walked out the door. After our consultation he wrote everything down on a piece of paper, told me the exact price for everything he was going to do, the grand total and then said.. "If this price is okay for you, then just sign here and we will get started!" That is fantastic! I feel like I have been to salon's before who charge you for things you aren't even aware of and then you leave with a bill triple what you wanted to spend. At Phia if they quote you higher than you were looking to spend, then you can talk about other options with your stylist! Also at Phia, they have different levels of stylists for different budgets. So if you don't mind going to a "specialist-in-training" as opposed to a "director" then you can still afford going to this beautiful salon with out breaking your bank. read more
